Mark, the owner, was extremely responsive and professional. He provided very clear information on pricing, even suggesting ways that we could save ourselves money. However, we were not completely satisfied with his employees' performance. In some cases, furniture was banged around, hitting walls or dropped heavily. Although nothing was damaged, it was disconcerting. Perhaps we should have done a better job of prioritizing but as the day wore on, there were quite a number of heavy items left behind that would have required their coming back for a second day despite his original estimate that it could be done in one day.

Everything went extremely well.After an initial phone call that set up the date and time and gave an approximate cost,I was called the day before as a reminder and confirmation.On the day three people arrived actually a bit early.when it was determined what was to be done and that additional vehicles were needed they were brought in within a short period of time.the men worked fast and hard getting everything loaded quickly and well.They then brought the items staying with me to my home and unloaded them quickly.Once that was done they loaded the items at that location to be disposed of and were on their way.total costs were below my expectations and very reasonable.When I have a need to dispose of more items I will use them.They were friendly,wasted no time,were very fair with pricing and it was a problem free event.

In terms of quality customer service, ability, and care these guys are as good as it gets. Its a family business and they are the nicest group of guys I've come across in the industry. They take their time, do it right, and treat the item being moved and the surrounding building as if it were their own. I can't speak highly enough about these guys. We were given their name from another satisfied customer that found them on Angie's List. Even with a packed schedule they were more than willing to squeeze us in on a Friday evening since we had just this one item and were eager to see it in the new place. I was delayed meeting up with them and they were more than understanding and were not put off even in the littlest bit. They even offered to reschedule if that would have suited us better. The piece being moved was unique and took some problem solving in order to get it apart. They were more than capable of figuring it out. They looked it over thoroughly, talked over a plan and didn't just dive in impatiently. If I had ended up needing to talk to the builder in order to get it apart, again, they were happy to reschedule to a time that worked best for me. they wanted to make sure I was comfortable with steps being taken. The load into the truck was efficient, gentle, and they took extra precautions to guarantee a safe commute. They ended up reassembling the table in the truck so that it was as secure as possible (took apart, reassembled, apart again, assembled in the house). It was very important to them that we had the carpet in the room exactly where we wanted it. They helped me measure precisely, move furniture, and generally, if I had a way I wanted something done they were more than happy to oblige no matter the time. Their price was more than fair for such a delicate, awkward item. We added a tip for the service and would have cooked them dinner if they had time. Just really great guys. I wish they offered more services!

I called a couple of weeks in advance and talked to Mark. We set up the appointment on the phone. He and his son arrived a few minutes early at school and proceeded to move all my supplies. They were careful to put the boxes of books on the bottom and were extra careful with the bins marked fragile. They followed us to the storage facility and packed the boxes so we could see what was where. It was a positive experience with no suprises and we will definitely use their services again if needed.

The experience was fantastic! They were punctual, very efficient, and extremely friendly. I really can’t think of a single negative with this company.

I had a very short-notice move coming up and needed to find an in-town moving service that could get me a quote and schedule me for later in the week. I contacted about 4 different firms, and J&M was the only service that got back to me the same day, which was impressive. Mark at J&M was extremely professional and asked plenty of questions up front in order to minimize surprises during the move itself. He was able to work around my schedule, and we agreed upon a 20-foot trailer based on my description of what needed to be moved. They brought the exact right equipment, and everything got moved over in one load. Both apartments were second-story apartments, and there were some challenging large pieces and stairs that the movers had to negotiate. I didn't suffer any nicked furniture or walls, and the team was very careful but efficient at the same time. I was especially impressed by their professionalism and commitment to getting the job done right and done quickly. I feel like the price that they charged was fair given the level of service and speed, although there weren't the very cheapest option in town. I've moved a total of six times in Richmond, and J&M surpassed all of the other companies that I've worked with. Other teams complained about the stairs or weather, took a break every half hour, or were inflexible on times or just unpunctual. J&M did exactly what they said they were going to do and made the whole move as stress-free as it could get. They even set up our beds without any hesitation, which is something I'd never seen a mover volunteer to do before (or do it right the first time). While I don't plan on moving again anytime soon after living in a lot of rentals around town, I will definitely recommend J&M to any of my friends who are moving in-town or in Virginia. Although I didn't inquire about it, I hope that J&M does out-of-town moves as well, I'd recommend them for that, too. My experience was very good. They were very professional and reasonable.

J&M Movers did a great job. Mark, the owner, answered my questions and scheduled the job quickly and efficiently over the phone. He confirmed 2 days out and again the morning of the move. He and his crew arrived on time and immediately set to work. Many times, with services that are priced by the hour, you don't see alot of urgency to get the job done quickly. Not the case with these guys. From the minute they hit the door, they worked quickly and efficiently to make my move happen. The crew was also exceptionally courteous and responsive to special requests to be extra careful with certain items. In the end, not a single item was damaged, the move happened on-time, and I feel I got a fair deal.

J&M Movers was terrific from the start. Scheduling with the owner, Mark, was easy, and he was able to give me pricing details. The crew arrived on time and moved furniture from my home to another home and brought furniture from that residence back to my home. They helped move things within my house to accommodate the extra furniture and went beyond my expectations for regular movers. They were very careful and conscientious, very polite and friendly! In addition, they moved a large amount of trash and old mattresses to the dump from one of the residences. This was not part of my initial quote or conversation with them, but they were very agreeable to help me out with anything that needed to be done related to moving. I highly recommend them based on the quality of their work, the conscientiousness of all 3 of the movers, their attitude to ensure I was satisfied and pleased with the work, and the price.

From the first phone call to moving in the last item, everything was first rate. We called J&M and spoke about the extent of the job. From our description, Mark estimated about 3 hours plus travel time. A week or two later, we called and scheduled the move. Since there was chance of snow on the move day, Mark called the night before to see if we wanted to reschedule. We did not since the forecast was for only a dusting. The morning of the move, Mark called again to see if we were OK with moving that day. We told him that we were. He and his two helpers showed up right on time. They had brought salt and a shovel with them in case they were needed. Mark filled out the paperwork then joined his helpers who had already started loading the truck. Everyone was very careful with our items. Unloading into the new residence was just as careful and considerate. They wore booties so they wouldn't damage the floors. Not once did they bang anything into a wall, or scratch the floor or stair bannister. Mark and his staff were complete professionals, and moved our things more carefully than I would have. Moving is what they do; they do it well, and obviously take pride in it. If we ever need to move again, J&M is who I would call. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone else.

I spoke to the owner and was able to schedule the move promptly. He carefully outlined the costs and services to be provided and estimated the job would take 3 hours, which was very close to what it actually did. He and his two helpers arrived on time and were unfailingly professional, polite, friendly, and competent. The move went very smoothly, and I was impressed by the care J&M took with my possessions, even sweeping the front walk to make sure they would not track in any dirt. I have moved many times in my life, and this was the most pleasant in my experience.

J&M is a family business, and the owner was present and supervising from start to finish. Everyone was pleasant, friendly, hard-working, and professional. In the new home, we had just had the floors refinished, and they laid mats in the entrance path and wore booties over footwear to protect the floors. The owner came to our home to give the estimate for the move, which was based on time instead of weight, and was significantly lower than another estimate we received from a larger company. The final charge was no more than the estimate. These were good, honest folks whom I enjoyed and was glad to have in my home. I would definitely use them again.

They were extremely polite and professional. They showed up when they said they would and they were very considerate with the way they did their job. They showed a fair amount of consideration with my possessions. I didn't price around; I was just glad to get it done. I think the price was fair and they were straightforward about it. It was a difficult move and it was a lot of money for me.

J&M Moving Services returned my call very quickly and were able to accommodate the date & time for the move. They gave me a reasonable & accurate estimate that included a discount for mentioning Angie's List. On the day of the move, it was pouring rain in Chesterfield and they called in advance to make sure we still wanted to move that day. The men were very polite and careful with everything, while working quickly. It was smooth experience, unlike so many of my other moving experiences. I would highly recommend J & M Moving Services.

J & M needs to state can only provide services for small to medium moves. Also, they can't deal with any or even slightly unusual circumstances. Our current home sits on a small hill and J & M felt it was too much for them to deal with. Our home is about 3100 sq feet and was too big a job for J & M.

Father and son team- took about 2 hours on both trips - had odd furniture and antiques and a treadmill about 4 rooms full of furniture. They were great dealing with those items, especially the larger peices- . Will use them again the next time I need to freshen up the floors. - they did a great job.

Movers arrived on time at 8:15am. They start the clock from the minute they pulled up with the truck. There was 3 men total- 2 movers and a driver who partially organized the truck, partially moved/loaded the truck. The 2 movers were outstanding. At first, I was worried because one mover was an older, smaller man, but he was fantastic! The amount he could carry on his own back was quite amazing. The other mover was double the size of the older mover and much younger and also was very professional and good. Both movers were very professional and friendly. The driver, unfortunately, was not as friendly. When we had a question, his answers were short and negative in tone. After we loaded just about everything into the truck with only a few small things remaining on the sidewalk, they decided to take a smoke break. We sat around and after a few minutes asked if they thought we woudl be ready to pull out in about 10-15 minutes and the driver relplied with, "we will be ready when we are ready". All in all, I was pleased becasue we loaded the truck in about two hours, and unloaded in one hour plus an hour drive time that no matter where you are moving to and from, they charge 1 hour fee. For the price and not having to rent my own truck, it was worth it. Nothing broken, just a few scratches on furnature.

I have already referred them to several friends and would absolutely use them again. Not only were they polite, curtious, and professional to me they also treated each other that way. Lots of please and thank-yous. It is a father with his sons and bravo to him for having such a fine family not affraid to work. Hire them you will not be disappointed

J&M did exactly as they promised. They arrived on time, moved the furniture without any damage. While we thought the price was a little high, we were pleased with the courteous service.

Both times he did a great job. The last time a piece of furniture was accidentally damaged, and he paid for the repairs.
