These folks are great!!! This is the second time I have used J&M Moving in the last 2 years. They are professional, pleasant to work with, work efficiently (no goofing off or wasting time). They are very concerned that they do not damage anything (and I had a couple of antiques moved with great results). Mark called me later in the day to make sure everything went OK and that I was satisfied. We will use them again when moving from the house.

I called in the morning and they were out in the afternoon to move my item. They were professional showed up on time and ready to work. They took caution when moving the item to not damage my house. They made sure to not track extra dirt around. I was pleased with the service and would use them again in the future and suggest them to friends and family.

Mr. Mosley met me on time at the storage facility and was very pleasant to deal with. He and his helper cleaned out the storage cubicle quickly and in a professional manner. I would definitely use him again for any moving projects that might come up in the future.

J&M did a really fine job for me. I recommend them highly. I first contacted J&M because I saw their high marks on Angie's list. I had had a harrowing moving experience when I moved to Richmond, and I was determined to avoid having another one as I moved to Tennessee, so I was careful about reading reviews and interviewing movers. I was really impressed by the level of helpfulness and honesty shown me by Mark Mosley, the owner of the company, when he came to give me an interview. When I told him that I was moving to Tennessee, he told me that he didn't usually take out-of-state jobs, but that he might consider this one, since I was moving just over the state line. His quote for that was a little high for my budget (though he came in below any of the other quotes I had been given). As we discussed my financial limitations, he suggested an alternate way of handling the move that saved me a bundle. I didn't need door-to-door service, as I was moving into an already furnished house. I also didn't need movers on the other end, as my husband and I were able to unload the trailer ourselves. So Mr. Mosley advised me that, for an out-of-state move, I might want to contact ABF freight to hire a trailer, and to let J&M do the packing for me. As he explained, the packing of the trailer is really the most crucial part of the process in terms of avoiding damage. ABF was great, and I was really impressed that Mr. Mosely had given me advice that really took my situation into consideration. That's a company you'll call again and one that you will suggest to your friends and neighbors! Mr. Mosley agreed to bring a crew and load my trailer on the appointed day. I was impressed by the fact that he emailed to confirm a few days before, and that he and his crew arrived on time and ready for loading. The two young men whom he brought with him seemed a little inexperienced, but they were hard workers, and Mr. Mosley was watching them constantly to teach them things and make sure my furniture and boxes were handled with care. As a teacher myself, I was pretty impressed. I wasn't even that bothered by the fact that the loading took a little over an hour more than Mr. Mosely had originally estimated, probably due to the fact that he had to slow down and explain things to the young men helping him. My main concern was avoiding the damage to my belongings that had given me so much emotional stress on my previous move. They took excellent care of me, and I am still grateful that my move was so much less stressful than the previous one had been.

They showed up on time. They didn’t break anything. Everything turned out good.

They were on time, professional, worked quickly but safely, respected the furniture, and they were very pleasant to work with. Will use them again.

.I found J&M Moving Services on Richmond Angie's List and read several glowing reviews. This review will just reinforce those excellent reviews. We were relocating from Richmond, VA to Charlotte, NC and were scheduled to close on our new home in Charlotte on 12/28/12. I contacted J&M Moving Services around the middle of December to check availability. Mark Moseley called me back promptly and I explained what I was looking for in the way of loading help. We were getting a 26' U-Haul truck ( the biggest they had ) and I needed the help loading on 12/26/12 ( the day after Christmas ). I was worried about the scheduling and if people might not feel like showing up the day after Christmas to work, but Mark assured me they would be there. The day of the move the weather was absolutely atrocious. We were getting hit by a Noreaster with rain and wind and temps in the 40's. I couldn't believe it. Mark called me that morning and asked if starting later in the day might give the weather a chance to improve. I had picked up the truck at 9:00 a.m. and J&M was supposed to arrive around 11:00 a.m. Due to the weather we decided to wait until around 2:00 p.m. A crew of two showed up on time at a little before 2:00 and about an hour later Mark and two people from another job showed up to assist. The helpers were clean, courteous, and did their very best to keep our furniture protected between the house and the truck. They did a great job loading the truck, but unfortunately I needed a 52' truck instead of a 26' truck. About half way through the loading it was obvious we weren't going to get everything on so I went around with Mark identifying what I wanted to go on this trip. They did a great job of getting all our essentials on and at the end they moved everything from the basement and the upstairs to either our living room area or the garage to make things easier for the next move. More on that later. So, Mark got everything he could on the truck. It took about an hour and half longer than we had estimated, but the weather and the load itself factored into that. I knew up front what the rate was so there was no surprises or last minute charges. I hadn't gotten enough furniture pads from the truck rental place, but Mark had some moving blankets he let me use that were his own. He really took care to protect our belongings. His helpers were young, fit, and strong as bulls, Very polite. Special thanks to Dominique and Chris. So anyway, we got loaded up on the 26th and headed out on the 27th. When the crew I had lined up on the Charlotte end were unloading us they commented on what a fine job Mark had done in loading/packing the van. Nothing shifted, nothing broke, everything made it to our new home in the same shape it left our home in Virginia. Now for the move Part II. I told Mark when I left that I would check with him when it was time for me to get the rest of our household goods, but I was going to wait until I had good weather for that move. I checked with Mark for availability for the 12th of January and he was available for that date. Because they had staged what was left in basically two areas the loading was completed in two hours. Dominique and Chris were there again and once again did an outstanding job. Mark called me two or three times just to check in and see how things were going. Again, everything arrived here in great shape even though the final load had lots of odd shaped items and not a lot of boxes to help wedge the load in. A dog house, exercise bike, work bench, grill, outdoor furniture. Anyway, you might pay more for moving help or you might pay less, but you won't find anyone that will do a better job for you than Mark and J&M Moving Services. I'd call them again in a heartbeat if I was moving.

This moving company was excellent! They were professional, courteous and moved things in a very timely manner. I especially liked their positive manner and they did all they could to make sure I was satified with everything. I would use them again without hesitation!

Mark and his two crew members were punctual and finished the job in just under 2 hours. (A third hour was charged for their travel time to and from the job. Their standard rate is $125/hour but I saved $75 with a Big Deal coupon.) Mark left after the most difficult items were moved. Antoine and Chris remained to complete the job. They worked steadily and were very courteous. Mark returned later to make sure there were no problems with the move and to complete the paperwork.

The owner did a great job of selling the company and arriving on-time and getting the crew started but after that, the quality of work would decline. It was my understanding each time the owner would stay to supervise the crew but then he would say he had to leave and the work quality and performance would decrease. He would leave the crew with little to no supervision. I thought that the movers were rough and often careless with many objects. I repeatedly had to ask them to not put lamps on the floor as well as wrap and protect furniture and valuables from harm's-way. I also found that they would not keep parts together when they took items apart (like a bed) and I would find parts in different locations. On several occasions I had to ask them to keep parts together. They were often rough taking items apart and stripped screws as well as breaking some objects. Overall sloppy movers and rough handling of property. Also, very unprofessional, the billing was unclear and difficult to understand. Some or one of their employees threw a beer can on the ground in the ally behind my house and left it there (I had to clean it up). They also used the bathroom in the ally behind the house while being welcome to use the bathroom in the house. I also asked them to deliver items to a different location and they did not show-up for that appointment the first time then they took instructions from someone that was not authorized to give instructions and J & M billed me for the unauthorized labor. The final bill came in the mail (I asked them to email it) and I reviewed it within 48 hours of reciept and they showed-up unannounced demanding money on the front proch and sidewalk....very unprofessional. The final bill I was over-charged but I paid it in-full. Their billing was dishonest and based on charges I did not approve. (I think I was over-billed between $125.00-to-$200.00.) I attempted to explain but the owner was so worked-up when he arrived he would not listen. Again, I paid them in full and told them they were fired.

The folks were very nice and cooperative. The job was completed the same day.

The move went well. Mark called at 7:45 to tell me that he would be there by 8:15, and he was. I would use this company again.

Went very simply. Was able to set up a move date easily. Company show up promptly and with a five man crew. Moved from upstairs apt to house. Used an Angies' List coupon.

They moved my brother from one apartment to another in downtown Richmond. I cannot say enough good things about this company and their staff. Punctual, professional, terrific attitude and a wonderful overall experience. I would recommend them without hesitation.

They were on time and extremely professional and courteous. The owner , Mark was there and was overseeing the job. He had two young men who were top notch. They were polite and did a great job. Our son decided that one piece of furniture they had just moved up a flight of stairs would not fit and he didn't need it- without being asked they offered to carry it back downstairs for us to take away. They were fast, efficient, and took great care with everything. I would absolutely use them again, and would recommend them to anyone. We've had a few bad experiences in the last few years with service people- it was nice to find a company that did a great job!

We contacted this company, referred from a friend who found it on Angie's List. We didn't know which day we would need them to unload our furniture. We drove the truck from Macon, GA, and let them know we'd be in VA a couple of days before our arrival. This was know problem, and they let us know from the beginning that there would be a crew of 3 to help us unload on this end.

Two very nice young men moved our sleep sofa so my husband wouldn't have to climb stairs following knee replacement.

The job went very smoothly once they arrived. The gentlemen moved a sofa, chairs, and other accessories very carefully. Each piece was wrapped carefully and transported to my house with care. Upon completion of the job, they even assisted me in setting up a coffee table that was not part of the job. I really appreciated their professionalism.

How nice to deal with someone who is so helpful and easy to work with. The J&M crew arrived right on time, they were very organized and got the job done quickly and efficiently. I was very impressed with the way they worked together. They were careful not to scratch the piano or the newly painted walls, and they took the time to position the piano exactly as I wanted it. I will use them for all my moving needs in the future, and would not hesitate to refer them to anyone needing a mover.

I called and talked to a gentleman on the phone who was very helpful and gave me lots of tips to make our move less expensive. Have beds/cribs broken down. Electronics unplugged/boxed. He gave us a lot of great tips so that we could make the move efficient and less expensive. I felt this information was very valuable and saved us several hundred dollars. We hired them to use 2 trucks on the day of our move for the same reason. It was more expensive to use two trucks but it made the move go faster so I'm certain in the long run it saved us money. The whole team was so nice. I was very impressed with them and how fast they were. I referred to them several times as pack mules because they were so efficient. Almost too efficient, we didn't have enough time to unplug all the electronics before they were ready to take them out of the house. In the new house they moved just as quickly. They took doors off hinges to get furniture in and they took the greatest of care with all of our items and boxes. Overall, we had a great experience with them and couldn't have asked for a better moving experience. Six months later we are not fully unpacked (we have a very rambunctious 17-month-old that requires lots of love and affection) but the delivery team was great and we would definitely use them again for any moving, big or small.

When we called to request an estimate we were given to the owner of the company who assured us he would be there for the move as well. We explained that we would have a rental truck and would also use the one that they brought as well and we had offsite storage that needed to be moved as well and there was no problem with our set up. On the day of the move, they were about 15 minutes late but called prior to their arrival time to let us know they were running late which was no problem and it gave us a few extra minutes to prepare. When we booked their services we explained that members of our family have extreme allergies to cigarette smoke. My husband overheard the owner of the company tell his crew that if they needed to smoke they should walk away from the house. We never saw any of them smoke nor did we smell smoke on any of them and we were very appreciative of this. Four men came for the move. They were polite,respectful and greeted each person and introduced themselves. After looking at what needed to be moved it was decided that they would load our truck first. They backed the truck into the yard and they were very careful with the tree branches and actually used a shovel to lift tree branches as the truck was backed up. They came prepared with all the supplies they needed for the move - moving blankets, large rubber bands to keep drawers shut, etc. The men were efficient and worked well together and they spotted one another when moving large pieces. We offered to provide lunch for the four of them and they wrote out an order for Subway and one of us went to get it. The owner of the company did offer payment for the lunch, but we did not accept it. We have two boys, ages 12 and 14, and our boys sat in the living room floor with the moving crew and ate lunch. The conversations with the boys were great - sports, school, etc. There was never any inappropriate language used and the conversation was always age appropriate. Two of the men had just graduated from college - one from UVA and one from VCU and it was great for our boys to see these men working so hard and talking about what their future goals were. After we finished at the house we followed each other over to storage. They were equally as efficient at the storage unit and loaded as much as they could, until the second truck was full. From there we went to the new house. Somewhere along the way one of the men left to go to his other job. Shortly after that another young man showed up. This man was equally as pleasant but perhaps not as experienced in moving. None the less, they went right to work. The only problem that we had was that they dented our refrigerator. The owner of the company acknowledged it right away and indicated he wanted us to be happy and asked how we would like to rectify the situation. Since the refrigerator was going into our garage we decided that it would be fine. Since we moved during the summer, we had a cooler filled with water at both homes and made sure the crew knew it was there. We also provided sodas for lunch to those who wanted them.Overall we had an excellent experience. I thought we were going to have to hire them again to finish the storage units, but we had some friends help us. While I hope to never move again, if we did we would certainly hire them again. We recently met some new neighbors who hired them to move some furniture in their house and Mark mentioned that he had just moved us in. Our neighbor also gave raved reviews to J&M Moving Services. We will recommend them to anyone looking for a mover!

Mark and his team were wonderful. They arrived on time and after surveying the situation started working and didn't stop until the job was done. The guys were cheerful, polite, and respectful. They worked well together. I did not hear a complaint during the entire move. I don't know if they love their jobs, but they sure acted as if they do. We had a lot of fun with them while they were serious about getting the job done. I would use them again and recommend them to anyone

They showed up as scheduled, with two trucks, and 7 guys. They were very respectful of our furniture and house, worked quickly, and came in at the time they had quoted. We were very, very happy with their services, and would absolutely use them again.
