Got quote for loading my truck. Incl. the fee to show up I was quoted $60+/hour. Ended up hiring different mover that charged a more very reasonable $15/hour (and performed flawlessly)

I had a terrible time contacting the owner to confirm my appointment. I called both telephone numbers and e-mailed, and when I finally spoke to the owner, he said he would call me back. He never did, and I had to call again just to confirm that the crew would be there on time. Then the crew was late. They were supposed to be there at 8:00 a.m. They didn't get there until nearly 10:00 a.m. The crew was very courteous and did the job fairly efficiently. It seemed like they were doing a good job, except at the end, when I noticed that the last few items (an antique rocking chair among them), were being "tossed" on top of the load. The real proof, we discovered, was when we arrived in Houston. Many of our boxes and plastic totes were crushed and damaged. Fortunately, we had very few items that were broken, but the crew that unloaded us in Houston said that the movers in Richmond apparently didn't pay any attention to putting lighter, more fragile boxes on top, resulting in lots of them being crushed.

MOVERS WERE ON TIME, WORKED VERY HARD, WERE CAREFUL WITH OUR FURNITURE AND RUGS, ETC THAT THEY WERE MOVING AND RE-ARRANGING FOR ME.... I WOULD USE THEM AGAIN AND HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM.

We needed help loading a 16x8 POD and a 17' Uhaul truck for moving out of state. I hired two guys for two hours, anticipating it would not take that long. Two guys showed up - Antwon and Dave, and they were two of the hardest working guys. It was a really hot day, and the tirelessly worked for almost four hours to load everything in the POD. I was really impressed by their work ethic, as they did not even stop for a break. They were very professional and took care in packing our stuff into both the POD and Uhaul. I highly recommend them.

J&M Movers moved me two weeks ago. I downsized from a 4-BR home to a 3-BR condo. They did an outstanding job. Very friendly, professional, and moved me within a timely fashion. I used J&M Movers again today to move a couple of large pieces of furniture and some remaining boxes. I had a piano, refrigerator, dining room table, and a few boxes to be relocated. Mark and his team did an awesome job ONCE AGAIN... two moving jobs in two weeks. They are so friendly, professional, and trustworthy. I had no worries whatsoever about my items being damaged during the transition. These guys are the best and a great team that works really well together. They go above and beyond to please their customers. I give J&M Movers a AAA rating.... the best of the best.....!! Will definitely use them again....!!

J&M Movers assisted me by moving me from a 2800 sq. ft. home to a 3-BR condo. The home I moved from was a four-BR two-story home. The movers arrived on time. They were very friendly, professional, and hard working. The moving truck was loaded in approximately three hours (including the garage items). With the new condo being on a second level, these guys worked extremely hard while carrying furniture and boxes up a lot of stairs. They did an AWESOME job, price was reasonable, and the hours of labor were pretty close to what was estimated. I had no property damage or broken items. J&M Movers is a reliable moving company that comes highly recommended. I would definitely use them again as they were a GREAT TEAM.

We had a late start because of the rain, which was not their fault. They were a great team of three guys: Antwon, Dave, and Matt. They worked EXTREMELY hard and only stopped for a half hour break during the 11 hours it took them to move. They had a great attitude, never complained about the heavy pieces, and just were so respectful. I specifically went on Angie's List because I've had horrible experiences in the past with moving companies. These guys totally changed my outlook on movers. Plus, I got an Angie's List discount to boot! Hands down, these guys deserve a pat on the back and I really am one happy customer!

Mark and his crew were outstanding! They were professional and courteous, fast and efficient. I can't believe how quickly they completed the move. Still unpacking, but so far not a thing broken. Will definitely use them again and recommend them to friends and family.

I purchased a Big Deal for 4 hours of help by 2 people to do garage clean up and to haul off a load of goods to donate. I was able to get an appointment quickly and a day convenient for me. The team was slightly late showing up but instead of 2 people I got 3! They were willing to stay the whole 4 hours but we were done in about 3.5 and that was really helpful to me. They jumped right in and helped me pull everything out of a 1.5 car garage that was wall to wall filled with everything from complete junk to precious heirlooms. They made piles of like things for me to sort and we quickly had filled their entire trailer with items to be donated and my pickup with an entire load to go to the dump and another load bagged to go to the dump later. They would have been glad to make the runs to the dump (for a small extra charge) but since I have a pick up and was prepared to do that - I took care of it. A little over 2 hours in to the project they swept my now almost empty garage and then quickly returned all the good stuff in a much more orderly fashion. I gave them a B on punctuality cause they were 1/2 hour late and a B on professionalism cause it was truly a family business and the family fussed some at each other (never at me - they treated me with the utmost respect) the way they would have if they had been cleaning out their own garage. But there was nothing at all offensive about it. I found it amusing as if my own family was helping me. I would hire them again and I just might to hep me with my attic.

First of all, this is the first time I have moved in over 40 years and the first time I was doing it myself. When I first contacted J & M, the owner thought from my description that one truck would be sufficient. I told him there would be antiques, including beds to take down and set up, and a lot of pictures. He told me they did not pack, that would be on me. I told him then I would not be able to pack all the pictures. On my follow-up call, I told him I didn't think one truck would be enough, so he said he would send two trucks. He sent one biggish box truck and a pick up truck pulling a closed trailer, similar to the UHaul trailers you sometimes see. All of my belongings did not fit. The men who came told me it was because I had antiques and they didn't want to stack things too high and possibly damage them. When we arrived at the new (to us) house, it took a long time to unpack the truck and truck/trailer. As time went on, the men were hurried and stacked as many as five boxes on top of each other on the dolly, without noticing if they were marked fragile. The owner arrived and fussed at them about damage to a gravel patio, which they raked level. He told me he was sorry all the things didn't fit, and they would go back and get the rest on Monday (this was a Saturday), and charge me only$200 for the additional day, without adding in the $200 travel fee I had paid for the first time. So on Monday, I bet two of the movers and filled maybe one third of the truck with the remaining items. Three breakable items were broken, possibly as much from inexpert packing as careless moving. Two of the three beds were set up in such a way that they were wobbly and the bed of one was upside down. I found the men who did the move conscientious and concerned to do the best they could. They responded to any request willingly. Apparently, there was another move that day which used the other large truck. The owner, I guess, was on that job. There were disagreements among the men about how to pack/load and unpack/unload. All in all, I was inexperienced and possibly that was part of the problem, but I did not think J & M did an excellent job and would not recommend them.

Overall, things went very well. The movers arrived at almost the exact scheduled time and quickly got to work. They had my home emptied of all articles in less than 2 hours. We encountered some delays in moving items into my new home but only due to the fact the previous homeowners had not emptied the house until late afternoon/early evening that day. The 5-man crew I had was very professional, friendly and all had a great personality. They did such a great job in fact, my fiance and I told them if they were ever in the area to please swing by and at least say "hello". I would definitely use them again if needed, and I have already mentioned them by name to a few people who were asking about our move and how it went.

These guys were a friendly, professional, punctual, hard-working group of guys! They put in a punishing, long day and all of our stuff arrived at our new location in a timely manner with nothing broken! I would definitely recommend them for your relocating needs!

This company was fantastic!! When another company no showed they were so great and able to be at my front door in under 2 hours! They were very quick and reasonably priced. The end price was a little more pricey than we originally discussed but I was so thankful I had no problem with it. Also, I did not ask too many question after he said he could make it. They are a life saver! All my stuff was safe during the move and I would recommend them!

From the start, these guys were great! They were on time, polite, careful, and very efficient. This is back-breaking work these guys are doing, and their attitude never waivers; they were courteous and positive throughout the whole day. And this was a long day! They allowed me to change where I wanted things put and stressed that they wanted me happy with where things were before they left. As the day wore on, there turned out to be many changes in the plans for how things needed to be handled in order for the move to be completed on time. And they went with the flow, coming up with the best way to deal with issues as they came up. They made suggestions and let me decide how I wanted things done. These guys made what could have turned out to be a nightmare of a day into something that went seamlessly and relatively stress free for me! I would highly recommend them.
