Retiled bath, and replaced fixtures

Mr. Quackenbush came out first to give an estimate. When my husband and I decided how we were going to handle our sink problem, I called and Mr. Qauckenbush scheduled his son Jeff, who was so very professional along with the young man with him.

We hired J. Quackenbush Refinishing to install tile in our kitchen. The owner, Jeff Quackenbush, displayed extremely poor customer service upon arriving on site to our home. When I asked him for his input in terms of tile layout, he shot back at me, "this is your decision...I don't know how you want it." He offered no suggestions; only repeatedly demanded that I make a swift decision. Then, he bad-mouthed the company from where we purchased the tiles and said it was their job to provide a schematic of the layout. During the first day of the project, he gave no indication as to how long he would need to complete the entire job. Then, he left mid-afternoon without checking in with me; he left his son behind to finish the job. Before his son left for the day, he said "we'll be back tomorrow." When I pressed him for a time-frame, the son simply replied, "I don't know, but it will be sometime tomorrow." On the second day, the son showed up at my door unannounced (he did not phone ahead). He proceeded with work from 8:30am until noon and then told me that he was done for the day and that someone else would be back later that day or tomorrow to finish up. Again, he could not give me any time-frame in which to expect one or more workers. At 5:30pm, just as I was making dinner, the father (Jeff) showed up at my door unannounced, along with another worker, proceeded to the kitchen, and started moving everything off the counter-tops again. Jeff did not tell me what they were doing; instead, I had to question him. I asked: "Are you here to seal the tiles?" Jeff responded in a condescending tone, "We're replacing the outlet covers." I pressed, "but don't you also have to seal the tile?" Again, in a more patronizing tone, Jeff replied, "We gotta replace the outlet covers first...we don't want to get electrocuted!" I then asked him about one light that wasn't working ever since they switched various breakers. He told me that the light never worked from the beginning and that it was wired incorrectly during initial construction of the house. He then raised his voice and said repeatedly that he was not an electrician. Bottom line, the light worked before he and his workers came to my home and then, all of a sudden, it stopped working. All it required was that he check the breakers and flip a few to see which one powered that particular light, but he wasn't willing to do anything above and beyond the work at hand. And, amazingly, it was the second time he was quick to place blame on someone other than himself. I had to tell him to calm down and demand that he treat me like a paying customer. I then reiterated that he and his team repeatedly inconvenienced me and, being as it was dinnertime, I would like to use my kitchen to feed my two-year-old son. Upon hearing this, Jeff asked if I wanted them to come back tomorrow to which I replied "yes"; but, they never left. My husband was away at work throughout the project; but, that evening when he returned home, I asked him to demand that Jeff and his team leave our premises and not return. Ultimately, this man raised his voice on two separate occasions to me--his paying customer--in my own home. His tone of voice reduced my two-year-old son to tears. I felt verbally assaulted in my own home. I will do everything in my power to make sure the word gets out. Jeff is unprofessional and should never be in any position where he has direct contact with a paying customer.
