Could not be happier with them.

After the diagnosis that pump was not working and scheduling to come and replace the pump after the weekend, they pumped out the tank (1000 gallon tank) to allow us to use the house for the weekend (showers, laundry, dishes, etc). Came back on Monday afternoon as scheduled and replaced the pump - 1 year workmanship warranty and 3 year pump warranty. On price, the initial call charge was $225. The pump replacement was $800 additional. Total $1025 for service call and diagnosis, pump tank and replace pump and two level sensors. Work was done professionally and as scheduled.

The owner saved us $$$$ and I even tried to go with repair it anyway because we know it's older. He said just no need but when there was hoped I would call him again, which I will!! The sent a pump truck out that afternoon and the guys went straight to work, dug up EXACTLY where the lid was and were finished in under 40 minutes. I have had a septic system for over 25 years and any maintenance or repair never went this smoothly. Super impressive!

Great! When we were unable to be present at the last moment, Patty was great about communicating with us via phone to confirm the service, communicate results and collect payment. It gave us great peace of mind to get this service done as scheduled rather than having to reschedule. Patty was thorough and clear in explaining everything. There were a couple of small piles of dirt that we had to move after the service - didn't expect those but not really a problem. Overall, professional, friendly, accommodating.

It was so hot. It was not a nice day for these guys, but they were so professional. Everything was great. The responsiveness of this company is fantastic. They had a whole crew dispatch department (very professional) so the guy could organize. I had to get a pump repair done, because the pump had stopped working and they were able to diagnose that with the septic guys here. They had to send someone else a few days later to get the pump repaired. Finally we put an cap so that the next time the sewer guys didn't have to dig up the earth to get to the sewer. I wasn't here the day the guy came to put the cap on. We had all this wet mud/clay on our lawn. These guys not only got rid of that dirt, and put it into the woods, but they cleaned up the whole area and receded around it. So A's straight across, in everything. It was a great group!

Keith arrived on time and was courteous from the outset. The service was performed efficiently and he took great care to ensure that the yard and landscaped beds were not damaged. He did a great job explaining what he was going to do, how long it would take, and that if he found any problems with the system he would let me know. The service took a little over 90 minutes from start to finish and when Keith was done everything was back just as it was before he arrived. There were no additional charges, no pressure to buy additional services or products. Highly recommended.

It was very easy to contact the company and arrange an appointment that was convenient to my schedule. When my schedule changed several days out, they changed the date at my request with no problem. Keith, the technician, arrived on time. He was very courteous and professional. He quickly went to work and completed the job. He made sure that lawn damage was kept to a bare minimum. I highly recommend this company.

I had to have this service done due to the counties request. Everything was priced right, he showed up and did what they were suppose to. I appreciated that they showed up with they said they would. They also quickly did the job and did not take him as long as I thought. They also has reasonable prices.

Due to the very wet ground at the time, they were apparently overbooked. A tech called in sick, and our visit was delayed. Communication could have been a bit more prompt, but the situation was understandable. They send folks out to try and determine the source of a swage odor, but were thwarted by the wet ground. They did explain to me the responsibilities of the County vs. the contractor and owner, which are interesting. Good learning from Bishop on that. Had tank pumped, which was done quickly and professionally. Paid bill vie phone and credit card, and receipt arrived promptly. Will probably use them again.

Contacted company and was able to schedule an appointment on relatively short notice. Operator arrived at precisely the time scheduled and explained the process. He spent a considerable amount of time attempting to locate the tank cover in an area of the yard which has a layer of hardpan soils that made probing for the tank difficult. Seemed to take the problem as a challenge and soon had the tank located and was about his business. Excavated the soil above the tank cover carefully so he could replace the grass after the job was complete. Pumped the tank, replaced the soil and grass and left the lawn with hardly a trace of his work. Advised that he would notify the county health department that the service had been performed so they could update their records.

I called the office and was greeted by a friendly voice that was eager to help me. We agreed on a time and date within moments. As agreed I was given a call by the driver about 30 minutes out. He arrived as expected, introduced himself with a smile and quickly went to work finding my septic tank. I had a general idea where it was; he probed the soil and found the key components within a few minutes without damage to my lawn. After opening the tank he went on and gave me some tips on maintaining the septic system while he worked. The job was done thoroughly, efficiently and at the quoted price. I decided to give J L BISHOP a chance based on the ratings and comments here on A.L. and was certainly not disappointed. Overall this was a very pleasant experience during a very unpleasant job. Thank you to J L BISHOP for being a standup contractor. I highly recommend them to any and all for this type of work.

When I called to schedule an appointment I got an answering system that directed me to a voicemail box for a person that supposedly would schedule my appointment. I left my contact information. In their defense, it was after 4pm on Thursday, so they may have bene gone for the day. The next day, Friday, they called me back to schedule the appointment. I requested a "first thing in the morning" time slot. The first openings for early morning were the next week on Thursday or Friday. I selected Thursday and asked them to call when they were on their way. Thursday morning at 7:50am the driver called to let me know he was on his way and was about 10 minutes out. Right at 8am Matt from J.L. Bishop arrived. I was nervous because I had installed a new patio in the back of my house with brick retaining walls and crushed rock all compacted down. And being in the house only a couple years, I didn't know exactly where the septic tank was located. I explained this to Matt as he started to look for the tank. I showed him where the risers were in the yard, and on his first probe, he hit the tank. A few more probes, and he located where to start digging. He quickly hit the tank and found the cover on his first try. All during this process, I was standing there asking him questions, and he very politely and thoroughly answered all my questions. As he was pumping out the tank, he explained about the health of the tank and what it should look like if it is healthy or not. He explained that my tank looked healthy and everything was working as it should. Matt is an excellent representative of J.L. Bishop. By 9am he was packed up, the hole refilled, payment made and receipt received. Matt was on to his next job and I was off to work. It couldn't have been more painless. And the best part of the whole process? My new patio missed my septic tank by about 3 feet! Perfect placement.

JL Bishop offered prompt service at a reasonable rate that was to have included digging down 4' to my septic tank and then installing a riser stack that was prescribed by another service (Warning! another Angie's List "A" service provider!) before the tank was to have been pumped. Before the work was to have been done, they were not satisfied with the clarity of the gas line route, so they had an additional verification (from the gas company) to clearly avoid digging it up. Then, upon inspecting the tank, they located a previously installed riser that was buried under 6" of dirt and ivy and had been overlooked by the previous service who was also armed with a technical drawing supplied by the county. I was notified immediately that it had been located, and we negotiated a reasonable charge in lieu of not having to do the extra work of digging and installing the stack. They saved me $550 dollars off of their already best rate and were a true pleasure to work with overall (+ great communication!) Cannot say enough good things about them, as they demonstrated integrity. Highly recommend.

The service man, Mike, arrived promptly and was very professional in his conduct. He proclaimed himself to be expert in septic tank service and I suspect he truly is. He gladly answered all my questions and provided detailed explanations for all rendered services. He checked out both tanks and did tidy work. I highly recommend Bishop's services. Thank you for attending to my needs and providing expert service.

They introduced themselves to me, explained what they were going to do. I showed them where I thought the tank was. They located the tank, dug up enough dirt the remove cover. pumped out the tank. They covered up the tank & was finished in less than a hour. Good Job!!!

Overall the service was good with no issues! Only issue is to follow up with paperwork with your county health department - my 5 year paperwork was not sent in (or lost in county). I received a letter almost 4 years later asking why I had not pumped my tank for my 5 year anniversart - I provided them with the receipt and the county was happy. This time I sent in the paperwork on my own.

We live rather far out in the country in Cumberland and it is often difficult to find professional and responsive workman. J. L. Bishop was responsive from the start, returning calls, providing an estimate, and working with the county inspector. They finished the work in one day, which was a relief as it had taken 10 days to find someone to do the work. They also pump septic tanks and I was sorry I learned that after the fact. We would work with them again.

They were recommended to us by someone. They were timely and they took care of the problem quickly. They didn?t mess up the yard too badly. They brought everything back together after they put the tanks together. They put the covers back over the top. I think the price was okay and seems to be the going rate. They took a while to get here.
