The floors were installed beautifully, and their pricing was much better than other vendors I'd either called or had come out for estimates. The workers damaged a sconce while doing the work, and that type was no longer made, so I had to purchase two sconces, for it was a part of a pair. The company gave me no problems in paying for the replacements. They were very professional about everything. I would have liked for them to have carried away all of the packaging of the new flooring, but that wasn't their responsibility and wasn't in their contract.

Great! The installation was top notch and some problem areas (an odd staircase railing that needed to be worked around, not your standard staircase railing) were worked around with a great solution. The crew was punctual, professional and did a wonderful job! The pricing was competitive, I got a much better deal going with Howdyshell than I would have from a local flooring company and the selection of flooring they have is outstanding - if you think you've seen all the available hardwood flooring, think again. If you are in the market for hardwood installation, take the time and swing by their locations, it's worth it to see their collection and their pricing is competitive, too so the old thinking that specialized shops charge more is wrong! I saw beautiful hardwood flooring I did not see anywhere else in the stores around here. To Howdyshell: Two thumbs up, keep up the great work! The only suggestion I have is to get someone to do SEO for this company so this company is listed on the first Google page of results, have a greater web presence and utilize more social media besides Facebook. I stumbled across this company by searching online for the brand and style of floor that I wanted, if it wouldn't have been for that, I would have totally missed it (at the time, it wasn't easy to find on Angie's list either).

We were relocating from out of state and wanted to get the floorwork done prior to moving in. There were about 5 weeks for the three projects (floorwork, interior painting, and kitchen upgrade). We got quotes from 3 flooring companies and decided on Howdyshell given their middle quote and assurance that the work could be completed in a timely manner. Ultimately, the quality of the work was good and the floors look well-done. I must stress that the end result is good. Steve, the owner, is a very likeable guy and in person was always very pleasant, responsive, and professional. However, we have very mixed feelings since we encountered problems along the way: 1) The sawdust was not managed or cleaned up well, and the workers did not turn off the AC unit during sanding work. This caused the 1st floor AC unit air filter to become severely clogged and caused the unit to malfunction. (The unit ran for two weeks in this state, with ice forming on the outside AC unit piping). Cost of expenses + repairs was $500, which was mentioned. Steve listened but did not offer any significant concession or attempt to make this right. Even the other contractors (while trying to be tactful about another contracted) commented several times about how much dust had been left behind. 2) There was very poor communication with the other contractors and myself. The 2 other contractors repeatedly told me that they were unable to get in touch with anyone at Howdyshell to coordinate work. This meant that on two occasions the painter and kitchen contractor had to turn around after coming to the house. This disrupted their schedule and wasted a couple of their days. I had a similar experience because it often took multiple messages to get a response, and there were long stretches of not receiving return phone calls or emails. 3) Part of the reason for the above issue with other contractors was that stated dates for work were delayed. For example, staining that was supposed to be done between 6/23-6/30 didn't happen until 7/12 (one day before our move-in). Needless to say, it caused us a lot of anxiety that this work was done at the last minute. It also meant that final parts of the painting could not be completed prior to moving in. I have tried to be fair and objective about both the good and poor aspects of the contracting experience, and did communicate the above to Steve when completing payment. He was professional in acknowledging/hearing this constructive criticism.

Howdyshell Flooring did a fantastic job installing the oak hardwood that I purchased at Floors and Decor. They were very professional, showed up at my house on time, and finished two relatively large rooms in one day!! My floors are beautiful and transformed my house. Every time I walk into my great room or dining room and see the floors, I fall in love all over again. I highly recommend Howdyshell Flooring.

Steve was great to work with, the entire crew was quick to respond and very professional. They did the work in a very timely manner and the work was done very well.

The work was excellent and the timing was all as promised. The work began and finished as scheduled. The new floor and the old floor are now one seamless floor - it looks great! Steve worked with me to deliver my desired outcome. I couldn't have asked for a better experience!

I had two weeks to get my house ready to sell. They were the first contractor in a long line of those scheduled. If they were late or did not finish on time, my entire project would have been in jeopardy. They came when they said, finished when they said, and charged what they said they would.

Steve came and gave us the estimate and gave us a very fair price. We had them deliver the flooring about 4-5 days in advance to allow it to acclimate to the house. The install went well. We are currently waiting for the staining and finishing, but have had nothing but a great experience to date.

Our floors had water and sun damage, and we had several companies provide estimates for refinishing the existing floors and replacing the carpet in our family room with hardwood floors. While all of the quotes were in the same ballpark, Howdyshell was the only company that explained the different types of polyurethane finishes to us and indicated that they could tie in the new floor in the family room with our existing floors. Steve was very responsive to our questions and patient with trying to find the stain color that we wanted -- he even stained some samples and brought them over for us to see before starting the refinishing process. They were able to start the process while we were on vacation, and we were able to sleep in the house the few days they were finishing since we chose a water-based polyurethane. All of the Howdyshell employees that we met were professional and friendly. They even finished a day earlier than expected. Our floors look great, and the floors in the family room blend in seamlessly with the rest of the floors downstairs. Overall, it was a great experience. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again or recommend them.

My husband and I contacted a number of potential Angie's List providers for our renovation project. Howdyshell was by far the most professional in this initial stage, responding quickly, first by email and then when assessing the scope of work to be done on site. After my husband and I carried out most of the demolition, HFI installed the new floors in the family room and powder room and installed a new oak staircase over two days. During the next stage, the new flooring as well as our existing hardwood floors in the living room, dining room, foyer, and closet were sanded using "dustless" technology. We decided to go with darker stain this time around, and the crew provided me with some stain options. Staining was completed in a day, followed by three coats of latex semi-gloss poly, which emitted much less odor than an oil-based version. The three layers of poly were applied over three days. The last step was the stained-to-match shoe-moulding installation throughout. Steve Iddings was my primary contact throughout the process. He and his crew were extremely professional from beginning to end. I asked a number of questions, and Steve was patient and timely with his responses. The final product is absolutely stunning. It is impossible to tell where the old flooring ends and the new flooring begins; that is how well Howdyshell transitioned the floors from room to room. The staircase is gorgeous; it is the first thing one sees when entering the house, and it is truly beautiful. We will be renovating the kitchen in a few months, and we will definitely be using Howdyshell again to install the new hardwood floor to match the rest of the hardwood floors.

I made an inquiry via a phone call and email and the representative was polite and responsive. He responded to my email within a few days. He made an appointment in a timely manner and was prompt and professional. The representative answered all our questions, and there were many. He was patient and informative. We did not receive a quote, but, because of our short timeline, and the fact the we needed more work done than just flooring installation, we went with a general contractor.

The results are beautiful. They arrived on time, the crew was great, and in one day we had beautiful hardwood floors. The job was done on time, on budget and they even suggested a brand that would save us some money and provided a lifetime guarantee on the product.

The quality of the work they did for us is spectacular! It took them two days to sand the floors, and then they called us in to show us how three different stains would look. We chose one of the three, and it was applied. Then, three protective oil-based coatings were applied over 4 days. The day we chose the stain was the last contact we had with them until they sent their invoice by email. The job took 5 days. Before we actually owned the house, we did not feel we should make arrangements with a floor refinisher. We called the man who inspected the house for us prior to purchase for the name of a floor refinisher. He recommended Howdyshell, and Steve came out to the empty house immediately to assess the situation. He was very professional and forth-right about what would be involved and how much it would cost. We then asked the impossible: could they start tomorrow? Steve said no. Then, he called back to say they were going to work our job in. This was the best news to us because if we didn't do it now while the house was empty, there was a good chance we would never do it.

I bought a townhouse that had a mix of old scuffed honey wood floors adjoining new dark wood floors in the rest of the downstairs. Cost estimate for new floors to replace the old floors was $8000. I asked two vendors if old floors could be refinished. Both were skeptical, but only one was willing to research it and give it a good probability of success -- Howdyshell Flooring took on my project. It was a phased approach with a light sanding and then restaining -- twice to get the color just right -- and then the finish was applied. The floors look great! I am extremely pleased. There was a buckle in the new floor that they were also able to fix. All this for $1900 versus $8000 I would have spent for new floors. Several workers were employed to do the job and all of them were very pleasant to work with. The owner -- Howdy himself -- oversaw the project. Steve heads up business and marketing. He was the one who gave me the estimate and scheduled the work to be sure I was able to meet my move-in date. Very responsive and professional. I just can't say enough about these folks!

Steve & his crew came saw & installed Red Oak & Custom stained the Hardwood in my new construction build's. Best part was they were fast, cleaned up neatly, & Steve took the time to show us the different color options & even tried to match what we saw on the web. In the end he mixed a custom stain that just looked perfect for our new house. Steve & his crew are easy going but still attentive to details. I highly recommend at least talking to them for your needs.

The crew was professional, arrived and completed the job on time. They were responsive to our call for a missing rim piece that was not installed, but it took a while to get it done. Overall we are thrilled with our new floors. They were very open to my ideas for fixing a problem with the existing floor, and made it look like the new border had been there all along.

They arrived right on time and did exactly what they said they were going to do. Steve Iddings was the guy that came out and he was excellent to work with. they were very clean and did a very ice job. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to everyone. It's so nice to work with a contractor that cares about your home as they do. Great job guys!!! Oh and by the way my wife loves the new areas, we'll call you after Christmas to the rest of it done.
