Terrible. The contract was never completed. I had to take the owner to court. I had to double pay for services because he didn't finish the job so I had to hire other people to finish. Alot of times his crew was late or never showed. Debris sat in my front yard for weeks. half the materials never arrived. I almost went backrupt myself trying to get the work finished.
Description of Work: If Clifford Sexton (owner of Hall - Sexton General Contracting) knocks on your door....RUN!! I contracted with him to put all new doors and windows in my home, remodel my bathroom and upgrade the electrical. He started the job late Oct 2010. He never finished and I had to take him to court to get back the $1,000 he stole from me while in my home doing work. He screwed up the window order, 4 windows short and one was the wrong size. I came from work one day to find plywood in the window because the window was 12" short. He never ordered the doors at all. I had to pay another contractor to finish the windows even tho I all ready paid Hall - Sexton. The bathroom was torn up in the process of being remodeled and he walked off the job. I had to hire another plumber, I had to pay the tile guy myself and I had to pay to get my tile from the place we ordered it from evem tho Hall - Sexton had more than half the money on a $17,000 contract. I also ened up paying for $700 worth of electrical supplies to upgrade my service because the electrician on the job couldn't get the money to purchase the supplies from Mr. Sexton. After he put up the sheetrock, he said the walls were sanded and paint ready. We sprayed the walls and found out the walls were not paint ready. We had to resand the walls and the ceiling and repaint. When I talked to him about it, he made no move to offer any compensation for the wasted paint or labor. We had to 'eat" that. I never even got my shower doors or my house doors either. And, I had to pay someone to haul away the debris because they just left it in my front yard. The DPOR has suspended his license. His business Hall - Sexton General Contracting has closed it's doors and is going thru the Bankruptcy System.

They came in with the lowest cost estimate and originally seemed to understand what we wanted. Cliff Sexton, the owner, handled all the work (along with some young guys he hired to help). But the process quickly fell behind schedule and became very stressful. They had said they could complete the job in three weeks -- we gave them four weeks, but they took five and had to come work late on the last weekend because we were expecting out-of-town visitors to stay in our house the next day and had to have everything finished. Because they finished so late, we had to stay up half the night putting everything back together in order to be ready for our guests. In addition: 1. They had to redo the framing for the bathtub twice because they mis-measured. 2. The paint job was very sloppy and we had it redone later. 3. The painters tracked paint and debris on the carpet because they didn't put down any kind of protective covering until I told them to do so. 4. They ran short of tile because they did not order enough -- so they had to special order some more and we had to pay additional overnight shipping charges to get the tile on time. 5. They got paint on the glass globes on our light fixture and broke two of them, which we had to replace. 6. We later discovered that the toilet had not been properly re-installed and we had to call a plumber in to fix it. He had to cut holes in our kitchen ceiling to access it, so we then had to pay for repairing and repainting the kitchen ceiling. 7. Cliff ran over a garden sprinkler in my yard -- took it away to repair it, but never did repair it. 8. They broke one of the faucet handles on the bathtub -- we had to order a new one to replace it. (They did pay for that!) 9. The bathtub faucet was re-installed crooked -- we had to call in a plumber to level it. 10. They installed small storage niches in the shower and by the bathtub -- because it was on an outside wall, they ended up pushing out the nails that hold the siding onto the house. We now have nails sticking out of the back of the house. We haven't resolved that issue yet. 11. Instead of giving us the leftover tile (which we had paid for) or a credit for what was returned to the store, they told us the store wouldn't take it back for credit. But they wouldn't bring it back to us until I spent weeks trying to track Cliff down, calling and bugging him until he finally returned it to me. I understand that they went out of business -- no surprise to me. I believe that Cliff now works for a kitchen and bathroom remodeling company on the south side of Richmond.

They were excellent. They provided a great estimate and were prompt, efficient and tidy. The service was completed when I was out of town, so I trusted them with completing the work and overall it went very well.
