This is the second bathroom Greg has redone for us and we would hire him again in a heartbeat. He started our project on time and he was punctual every day of the project. He is a perfectionist and will make sure you are happy with the result. We had an issue with the bathtub we ordered and he has come back at least 4 times to make sure it was fixed and perfect. His tile work is impeccable. He makes sure to take care of all the little things too - like raising the shower head if you are taller or switching out the knobs on the vanity if you bought different ones. We recommend him to any one that asks and we have gotten countless compliments on the bathroom.

Response from Fosters Home Renovation Services
Good morning Mrs [Member Name Removed]. I am Greg Foster, the owner of this business. My only phone number is 8048881631, my Email is Fosterhome2304(at)verizon.net as posted. As an Angie'sList member, you can also leave Direct messages here on this site. My voicemail is working properly, and I have checked the last 30 days of recent incoming calls and your name is nowhere to be found. So all indications point towards you may have dialed the wrong number. There were other mediums of contact that you could have tried, but instead of just leaving a message or a comment here, you felt compelled to leave a negative "F" rated review when you had actually zero contact with this company. Perplexing.

Extremely well. Greg is meticulous about everything he does. We could not be happier. We are also going to renovate our 2nd floor bathroom, mudroom and laundry room and we've contracted Greg to complete all of them.
Description of Work: We had our 1st floor bathroom gutted and totally renovated. We met with Greg a couple times prior to the start of the job to get initial estimates as well as talk about when we needed to pick out all the materials required for him to complete the job. Greg was fantastic. I really can't say enough about his talent. He is also very neat. He gutted out bathroom without any dust traveling to other rooms. He covered our entryway floors and protected other surfaces. We now have a new tub/shower with quartz tile, an accent strip, recessed feature for shampoo; new ceramic tile floor, new vanity, granite counter, sink, faucet, light fixtures, mirrors, toilet.....

We met with several contractors and Greg separated himself from the rest immediately. He took time to explain the process to us, set proper expectations, and you could tell he was detail oriented and incredibly professional. It didn't stop once we hired him. He was proactive in his communication, always confirmed our communications in writing, and gave us the best ways to communicate with him so he could respond quickly, and accurately. We upheld our end of the bargain for payments, making material selections, and being flexible with availability - Greg made the rest seamless. He did a fantastic job and the work done is outstanding, we couldn't be happier. I would highly recommend Greg for his proactive communication, commitment to doing the job right, being professional, as well as his expertise. He made a bathroom remodel a stress free endeavor that came in on budget! Great service and pro. I would hire him again without questions.

Greg exceeded our expectations. He was the only contractor I met with that was on time. And he was on time every day of the project. If something came up and he had to change times, he let us know as soon as he could. He was honest and fair and gave us great advice on choosing materials. My husband is tall and he suggested moving the shower head up a little. Something I would have never thought of, and was really thoughtful on his part. He is extremely detail oriented and our project came out looking amazing. The tile work is superb - the grout lines from the bull nose border tile, line up with the horizontal tiles in the shower and the floor tile looks flawless. His kept us in the loop when a wrench was thrown in - we wanted to take out a wall and turned out there was plumbing we couldn't move. He built a knee wall so we could hide the plumbing but keep the open space. Project ran over a couple of days, but not due to lack of work on his part - he worked Saturdays and Sundays to get the job done. We have another bathroom that needs remodeling and we wouldn't want anyone else to do it.

Greg Foster was hired to renovate our small master bathroom. He began the job on August 11, 2016 and worked for two weeks. His work was perfection, however, as of today, December 12th, Greg has not contacted us about returning to complete our bathroom. He began another job when our scheduled 2 weeks was finished. He said he’d be back to complete the tiling, grouting, hanging a new door, etc., - about 2 days of work - when he had free days. The first tentative dates were September 28th and 29th. Those days came and went without Greg coming in to complete the job. The next date we were given was October 7th. Again he didn’t show up. Upon contacting him, we received a ridiculously long email saying maybe sometime in December. He also requested additional money be paid because of not having work for a few days. How is this our problem and why should we have to continue to beg our contractor to return and complete the job? Greg Foster’s emails constantly said that the hold up on our project was due to us changing our minds on materials and other choices made. There’s no doubt about a lack of communication. An example was when Greg blamed us for the hold-up on the shower pan because it was backordered, as well as the in-stock floor tile that was out of stock. We had no control over those things! If we knew about shower pans, tile, plumbing, cabinetry, etc., we would not have needed a contractor, but this is not our field of expertise and we needed more guidance from our contractor, something we obviously did not get. This renovation was expensive and Greg received 95% of the total, the remaining $600- being due upon completion. Had we known we were hiring someone who would constantly place the blame for our incomplete bathroom on us AND request more money, we never would have given Greg Foster our business. It should not have taken 3 months to renovate a 6’ x 8’ bathroom! We are extremely upset about this and have since hired the people necessary to complete the job.

Response from Fosters Home Renovation Services
Mr [Member Name Removed]. This review is quite misleading. You contracted me in March for a three week bathroom remodel. Per our contract, I had the entire month of June committed to you. (Which you neglect to mention) After meeting with you several times between March, April, May to go over materials & order by dates, then finally on May 29th ( 0ne week before the job was to start) you still had not picked out a shower pan. So that night I was at your home yet again until 11pm trying to get you to pick out materials. You then chose a completely different shower pan than discussed that was ordered that night at midnight and took five weeks to come in. Which was 2 weeks after the entire project was to be finished. I had to reschedule / inconvienence other customers to cover most of June, the time lost due to your late choice/choosing of materials. Then when your pan came in, I spoke with your wife to get in there to start, and she said you weren't available till the August start time that you are referencing. I worked for the two weeks we agreed which you are correct. The "in stock" floor tile was out of stock as verified in writing by your wife also. Emails were then exchanged several times for a continuation date of Dec 12th. That's where you stopped communicating and never responded, at all. You seem to be forgetting that all communications are in writing for this exact reason, to protect the customer as well as myself. As well as the estimate and contract that you signed and then broke. I will be more than happy to give you hard copies of your estimate, contract, material order receipts with date, all email/text correspondence to refresh your memory if you need.

On-time and on-budget. I had all appliances/fixtures and floor removed and replaced. Walls and ceiling were painted. As is the norm, a couple of curves were thrown into the job but Greg discussed them with me and deftly handled them. Greg showed up, AND completed the work he said he would. A contractor who can do those 2 things is very hard to find and Greg will get my next phone call for the next bathroom job I have. (I'd call him for other jobs as well, but I know he prefers to stick to bathroom work.) Besides meeting the first 2 critical criteria, Greg also has excellent carpentry, plumbing, and electrical skills. He didn't just slap in the floor or the vanity - he cares about the product he leaves behind and it shows. Excellent job.

This was the second time that we decided to use Greg. The first time was for the tiling of our guest floor and shower and this time we hired him to tile our master bathroom floor and assist with design and tile our master walk-in shower. We were extremely pleased the first time that we hired him and so we decided to hire him again because of the wonderful work that he did. As always Greg is on time, professional, courteous, attention to detail, honest, and fair. We did all the demo ourselves, so when it was time for Greg to start he pretty much had a clean slate to work with. We picked out and purchased the tile and roughly designed the layout of the shower. Greg helped us work out the final details for the design and offered reasonable, honest suggestions when needed. Once all the details were decided and the contract signed, a date was set and work began as scheduled. He arrived around nine every day and ended around five-ish. During the project his attention to detail shined through along with his craftsmanship. He is very meticulous with his work and wants the customer to be happy from start to finish. He cleans up at the end of each day. As always, he consulted with us when changes needed to be made or when there was something detail/design related. It took him three weeks to complete the job, originally having scheduled two which was fine with us considering the size of the project and we know how particular Greg is with his work. For those wondering, Greg mostly works by himself but occasionally may bring in someone to help him when needed if the project is large or assistance is needed. Greg is always at the jobsite and supervises them and we never came home to a worker there and no Greg. Greg is a wonderful contractor and we would recommend him to any of our friends or neighbors. If I have future projects that need assistance, I will not hesitate to hire Greg again!

I COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE PLEASED WITH GREG FOSTER AND HIS CREW. GREG KNOWS HOW TO DO EVERY PART OF THE JOB FROM ESTIMATING TO THE FINISHED PRODUCT. AS WITH ANY RENOVATON , YOU COME ACROSS UNEXPECTED ISSUES. I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH HIS ATTITUDE AND PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS IN TACKLING ANY CHALLANGE THAT PRESENTED ITSELF. ONE EXAMPLE THAT COMES TO MIND INVOLVED A SPECIAL ORDERED CABINET FROM LOWE'S THAT WAS NOT BUILT CORRECTLY, GREG KNEW HOW TO REBUILD IT TO MAKE IT WORK. GREG IS A VERY PROFESSIONAL, DEPENDABLE AND VERY KNOWLEDGABLE CONTRACTOR THAT SETS THE BAR HIGH AND DELIVERS WHAT HE PROMISES.

Greg arrived on time every day, worked a full day, protected our carpet, furniture and any decorations that might be affected. He cleaned up every day and left no debris or trash of any kind. He never rushed the job and only completed it when it met his satisfaction (he has very high standards). The finishing touches (caulking, trim, etc) were PERFECT! I am so happy we had Greg do this job for us, I just wish we would have done it sooner. Also, I love the fact that he blocks out the time to get it done in a timely manner...I have heard many horror stories of renovations that take weeks and weeks to do because the person they hire has many jobs at the same time. This was our master bathroom and he got the job done in 6 days!
Description of Work: Greg came to our home to give us a free estimate of what our renovation would cost. He charges a set fee for labor, blocks out the time he thinks it will take him to do the job and has a separate charge for any material that is needed (tile, grout, shower head, shower doors, etc). He shows you his schedule and offers any openings he has making sure that the supplies would arrive on time. He offered to purchase all materials or we could pick them up. Also, his communication via text, phone or email were amazing.

Greg was very prompt in responding to my initial inquiry and with follow-though. He gave an initial estimate on the spot, whereas other contractors I contacted took weeks or never responded at all. The quote was very reasonable compared to some of the others. The total cost for labor quoted was $3500 for a week and a half of work. The remaining cost to complete the remodel is based on material purchased. The job entailed gutting the bathroom, replacing tub and shower plumbing, installing an acrylic tub and surround, tiling the floor, installing a semi-custom double vanity, installing new toilet, overseeing installation of quartz vanity top, hooking up double sink plumbing, re-wiring electrical to switch from one light to two, installing 2 recessed medicine cabinets, putting up beadboard on lower half of all exposed walls, putting in a 4 inch decorative tile backsplash / surround to finish off the top of the beadboard, painting walls and baseboard, and hanging all towel bars/hardware. Greg provided a list of all materials that we needed to select. He offered input if we had questions about appropriate selections. He was very up front about which items he felt could be purchased from big box stores versus from a plumbing supplier based on quality of materials. For example, he recommended purchasing all plumbing items from a true supplier but indicated it was fine to purchase tub and toilet from the big box guys. The vanity top was a remnant found at Absolute Stone. He and his crew started the job on time as promised. He had 2 men working at all times. They were very professional and neat, always cleaning up at the end of each day. They worked for a solid week before needing to wait for the vanity top to be fabricated and installed. After that, we did have a bit of delay due to weather and jobs getting backed up. But Greg worked extra hours and most of a Sunday to get the job finished for us. We had a few minor communication issues, but primarily due to the fact that work commitments kept us from being at the house for any real face-to-face communication as the job was progressing. Overall, Greg and his crew did a fabulous job with our bathroom. We are extremely pleased and would definitely call on Greg again.

Master Bath - I hired Greg to come in and finish the master bath, I had another company come in and tear out old drywall and replace it but I wish I had found Greg before then and had him do that as well. He tiled my floor and fabricated a "built-in" cabinet that in the end looked as if it were a part of the original structure of the house. He built the cabinet with open shelves above and three drawers on the bottom. He also tiled the entire bathroom, installed a new toilet and a new shower door. What made me decide Greg was outstanding is the fact that he hired a subcontractor to do the tiling but was so upset with how it turned out he practically tore out all that tile and reinstalled it himself. Laundry Room - After he completed the master bath my wife and I immediately decided that we would hire him to remodel out laundry room (which is now my wife's favorite room in the house). He tore out the old linoleum and tiled the floor, repaired a wall that had a substandard repair from years before and custom built a cabinet that could hold our laundry baskets with storage below for large blankets and topped it off with a countertop that is used for folding clothes. He also tore out some old storage cabinets, replaced them with new ones, added shelving and clothes hanging rods. We have already informed him we want him to come back in the spring and remodel the kitchen. He is very prompt, courteous, professional and extremely trustworthy.

From our initial meeting for a walk thru and quote he put us at ease. He is both personable and professional. He let us make all of the design choices and stressed that his job was to implement our vision and to tell us when something we wanted wasn't structurally feasible or what was dictated by code. Greg maintained contact with us and texted me the Friday prior to the Monday we were scheduled to start demolition to confirm his start time. Each day he came to the house he came in and dropped work cloths over the wood floors and partitioned off the area of the bedroom with plastic walls to confine any dust he was creating. He would clean and remove debris as he worked and left the work area and house each day as if he hadn't been there! He was gracious with me working from home and our two rambunctious rescue dogs who wanted him to play with them. He went above and beyond to make sure every detail of the space was touched and he has a keen eye for detail. He even replaced the heat vent cover to match the new floor in the bathroom rather than replace with the old worn out original one. Greg really impressed me with his professionalism, work ethic, and attention to detail. I look forward to working with Greg on many more home improvement projects in the years to come. We are loving the new space, it looks great!!

Greg originally came out for the initial estimate and was on time and curtious. He went through in detail the work that would need to be done, answered all of our questions, and went over all of the materials that we would need to purchase beforehand. We decided to go with Greg because he seemed knowledgeable, reasonable quote, answered our multitude of questions to our liking, and agreed to do certain aspects of the project to our specifications. The project begin on the projected date as agreed upon and it took one week to complete. Greg did great work! We are very particular about certain things and he made sure that things were to our liking and went that extra step when needed. He spent time on things to make sure that they were right even if it did put him behind at times. He cleaned up after himself everyday and on the last day he made sure that we were pleased with the final project. We could not have been any more pleased with his attention to detail and final product. We would highly recommend Greg to anyone for a bathroom renovation!

Pros: Highly knowledgeable with extensive experience, excellent customer service, and timely performance Cons: Believe it or not, none except they're in high demand Comments: My husband and I had the privilege of meeting Greg Foster through a service I hired to complete a renovation on the master bathroom for our rental property. The service contacted Greg's company for the final installation of the bathtub/shower surround and vanity. He noticed an issue with the bathroom vanity, notified us, and recommended that we shouldn't install the product. It was indeed defective and it delayed the completion of the project for several weeks. Although the time delay was frustrating, we appreciated Greg's insight and honesty. He completed the job with the service and our bathroom looks great. We and the tenants were thrilled with his work and professionalism. We immediately recognized his extensive knowledge and experience with home renovating and contracting. So much so we contacted Greg separately several weeks later to give us an estimate on some electrical and contracting work on our master bedroom walk-in closet in our primary home. We had standard wire shelving that we wanted to remove and install a new closet system. We hired The Closet Factory to install the closet system, but wanted to change the flooring, rip out the shelving, paint, move the overhead light, and install electrical outlets. He was flexible in his scheduling to meet us after work and had a master electrician with him so we could understand the full scope of our requests. No job was too small and they even enhanced our experience by offering creative, yet affordable suggestions for the electrical outlets. The estimate was reasonable and affordable. He was also able to fit the work in accordance with the closet system installation so that we would have minimal down time. The work was completed in the approximate 2-3 business days as promised. Greg was accurate in his initial assessment of the scale and cost of our project. They were very professional and a joy to work with. We also appreciated Greg contacting us for a final follow up once the closet was completed. We viewed this as a personable touch and was well received. Overall, we are very pleased with Foster's Home Renovation Services, LLC support, flexibility, and the quality of their responsiveness. Most importantly, they provided peace of mind for my husband and me. There was no hassling or juggling multiple demands. We are definitely using Foster's Home Renovation Services, LLC again for other projects in our home and rental property. We are confident that the job will be done to exact specifications, on time, and on budget!

Absolutely excellent experience from beginning to end. Greg was very communicative, punctual, knowledgeable, NEAT, and thorough. Even during the work he cleaned up everything each day and made sure our floors and furniture adjacent to the bathroom and down the stairs were all protected. The quality of the work is excellent and the value of his service far exceeds the cost that he charged us because I know that the work was done right unlike when the house was newly built. Final verdict: 100% awesomeness.

Greg is a consumate professional. He began by coming to the house and listening to the things that we needed done and the things that we wanted to do. He was able to provide advice as to which jobs on the list should be done before other jobs. He was ALWAYS on time, neat, and polite. Greg was a perfectionist in every job that he completed in our home. He began with the master bathroom. The bathroom had to be taken down to the studs and then completely rebuilt. Greg consulted with me, to make sure that the tile pattern in the master shower was the way I had envisioned it. He even suggested adding a a built in shelf to hold shampoo, at no charge! He then installed the new drywall, the new tile, vanity, counter top, mirror and finished with a fresh coat of paint and a new window. About halfway through the master bath remodel, my husband and I had decided that we would have Greg complete all of the other repairs that were needed in our home. (We had just purchased our home on June 13, 2014. A 40 year old, two story colonial). Greg once again sat down with us and we planned out the rest of the jobs: guest bathroom remodel, fixing the leak in the guest bathroom plumbing, 1/2 bath remodel, tile on the fireplace hearth, adding a bi-fold door to the pantry, replacing kitchen counter top, replacing the remaining 21 windows, remodeling door ways (where we removed doors), and fixing a huge hole in the kitchen ceiling (from where the guest bath room leaked) . Each job was priced individually, any part of the job that we did not want at that time was easily removed from the itemized list. Greg worked in our home for approximately 2 months. Even when the window provider did not order the windows correctly and the windows had to be re-ordered at an additional cost, Greg DID NOT pass that cost along to us! I was astounded! In fact, we did not even know about the added expense until after the job was completed. When we offered to help alay some of the cost, his reply was, "The price I quoted you is the payment I expect." Imagine my surprise to have worked with not ony a fabulously talented contractor, but an HONEST contractor!!! You will not find a better person to do your repairs, at a fair price, anywhere in the Richmond, VA area! I have recommended Greg to ALL of my friends and neighbors! In fact, he is now going to do many of the things he did for us, for my next door neighbor! Oh... and one final note, Greg also trained my dog, Teddy, not to jump on people when they walked in my front door, NO CHARGE!
Description of Work: Greg has remodeled two full and one 1/2 bathrooms, replaced all 22 windows, replaced kitchen counter top, retiled fireplace hearth, painted, repaired a LARGE hole in the kitchen ceiling, repaired plumbing, painted, and drywalled.
