Also worked to replace a lighting fixture, although in the end it needed to be rewired, but they were able to get everything set up so that installing the light should be easy once it is ready. I appreciated that they explained what they were doing throughout the job and also helped me to problem solve how to deal with out home's electrical issues.

Description of Work: Installed 14 kw Generac(r) generator and transfer panel. First had many discussions about options as I had some needs that apparently were not typical. Steve was very helpful in getting me to the right unit. Had met with others, found Steve more helpful and a good price. Work was done well and follow-up good. Timing was good. Only issue is that I would have preferred that they handle the co-ordination with propane company vs. me doing that. However, I do understand that they are not responsible for the propane companies work and they thus have reservations about being the main contact. This winter there was apparently a run on generators and a high demand for the gas line work. Ours was completed ok and meshed well with electrical. However, I recommended them to a friend and the gas work resulted in a significant delay. Though the electrical work was done in timely fashion, the person still had no generator for a couple of months. I would suggest Family Electric get someone on staff to handle this, or get a strong priority relation with an independent plumber who can do this as part of their package. Also, I had a new electrical circuit run underground to a shed in the yard. The price was better than others and work was done well. I did not include grass repair in what they did, so cannot comment on that.

When I called to schedule, the receptionist made sure that I understood all of the conditions of the deal, and scheduled my appointment. I told her exactly what work I needed done. I received a reminder phone call the night before my appointment, with the names of the technicians I could expect. The guys showed up precisely at the start time, and got right to work. They were quiet and clean, and provided me with options based on our specific wiring situation. All in, the appointment was 1.25 hours, so I paid an additional $45 for the labor, plus $88 for the parts.

They showed up on time, were happy to explain to me what they were doing and why, pleasantly answered all my questions and came in slightly under the estimated price. What more could you ask for? Not only would I not hesitate to call them again in an electrical emergency, I plan on having them come back in the not-too-distant future to add several additional wall outlets in rooms where I could use a few more.
Description of Work: I had an awning installed over my back door and the installer accidentally cut the wiring (with the screws he used) to my outside security light. This dead short meant my light no longer worked. The first electrician I called could not figure out what the problem was. Family Electric took the time to not only figure out exactly what was wrong, but gave me several creative options--and prices for those options--to fix the problem. They were able to fix it within just a few hours, including running some new wiring and installing a new light, all without any damage to my siding or the interior drywall.

+ -1 moreI wanted this company to install a flood light for our backyard understand a bedroom window upstairs for easy access to change the bulbs. I also wanted the electrical to be hooked on the wall in that bedroom and in the kitchen. Wiring had to be finished throughout the crawl and through the garage. They did a perfect job! Steve was the first to come and take a look at the job. He explained that it would be possible to hide the wires within the wall in the garage, which I wanted. I would hire this company again.

Their information on cost and features before and during installation was always clear and concise. We used Family Electric twice before on much smaller jobs and are getting ready to have them do another small job for us. We highly commend them for consideration.

I provided the ceiling fans but forgot to buy the exhaust fan. Steve immediately purchased the exhaust fan and brought in by within 20 minutes. I would defintely use them again.
Description of Work: Company installed 2 ceiling fans (including wall plates with separate controls for the light and the fan) and an exhaust fan. In addition, they also fixed the wiring on a ceiling fan in the kitchen.
