I liked that he was patient and answered all my questions. He did a lot of things that I wanted done. I was very happy with his work.

The office was very helpful with questions and scheduling. Two electricians showed up on time. The quality of work was good, however clean up was a little lacking. They installed a ceiling fan in my daughter's room, they laid a drop cloth down, but still left quite a bit of insulation from the attic and trimmings from the wires. I would have given an A if it weren't for that.

This company was very professional and fulfilled all aspects of the contract. With this being a complete gut and rework of a master bathroom and kitchen, Family Electric worked well with the other contractors and my family needs in reference to work times. I plan to have them come back for some more work.

Everything went great; my expectations were met--Family workmen achieved everything I hoped they would. Workmen worked steady, and they were friendly and professional.

The two men who came were professional and knowledgeable. They also replaced bulbs inside the house (I did not call them for that) because both my husband and I are in our 70's and do not want to be on ladders. The ceilings in the "maintenance free" home are very high. I will definitely call this company again. Also when I called the company, they explained their charges, when they would be able to come, and then phoned me the day before and the morning of the appt. Very impressive!

THIS HAS GOT TO BE THE BEST RUN BUSINESS THAT I'VE EVER DEALT WITH. ALL MY PHONE CALLS WERE WITH LINDA (AN OWNER) AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE SHE PROVIDED WAS EXCELLENT. SHE ANSWERED ALL MY QUESTIONS, HAD SOMEONE COME BY TO SEE WHICH GENERATOR WE HAD (WE HAD LOST OUR MANUAL) AND THEN SHE SENT US A MANUAL! SHE ALSO EMAILED A FORM STATING WHAT TO EXPECT WITH THE TWICE ANNUAL INSPECTIONS AND THE COST($295 FOR THE YEAR). THE GENERATOR WAS INSPECTED ON TIME AND THEY WILL BE COMING BACK TO REPAIR A PART. LINDA STATED THEY WANTED TO DO THIS BEFORE THE NEXT INSPECTION SO IT WOULD BE READY FOR BAD WEATHER. WE HAVE LOST POWER ONCE AND THE GENERATOR IMMEDIATELY POWERED ON. ANYONE WHO OWNS A GENERATOR WOULD LOVE DEALING WITH FIRM AND LINDA!!

The electricians from Family Electric were punctual, pleasant, efficient and knowledgeable. They were committed to making me completely satisfied with the lights. It was an altogether good experience.

I immediately received a call back from the company to schedule an appointment. The office manager/receptionist was extremely friendly, helpful and professional. Two guys were sent out to complete the job. They conducted themselves very professionally and immediately go to work. The job was completed in about an hour which was fantastic! The light fixture looks lovely!

Scheduling was very smooth and follow up was done to confirm. They arrived on time and moved smoothly from project to project - we had several small jobs around the house we wanted done. We're very pleased and requested a quote on several other projects we want to do over next several months; it was reasonable.

They were quick, professional, punctual and showed great respect for me and my home. I believe any electrical need that a homeowner might be considering would be within their expertise. I would definitely consider using them again.

I recently had siding put on my house, and the contractor said they couldn't reattach the electrical meter and that I needed to call Virginia Power. Also, when the siding contractor reattached my front porch lights, one light was not working. Virginia Power told me I had to call an electrician for the meter, so I figured I'd get it all done at the same time. I was very pleased with Family Electric, I told them it was a very small job but they were still happy to help me. Since it was small a job (and I have a lot of flexibility with being home with short notice) they called me to let me know of a cancellation to get the work done a few days earlier than expected, and their staff arrived right when I was told they would. They reattached my meter to the house, fixed my front lights (one was rewired incorrectly by the siding contractor), and as a last minute request, removed some wiring that was left from when Virginia Power came out and removed a demand response program box and just left a tube laying there with wiring still attached. I was told when I called that they had a base call/travel fee and then an hourly rate, but if the work didn't take long, they'd only charge me for a half-hour. The work was quick, and they only charged me for a half-hour as offered. The total cost was just a little bit more than the service call fee I would have paid through my home warranty company to fix only the front lights. Would definitely use them again for any electrical items not covered by my home warranty!

They were here for 3 days initially roughing in the wiring for the under-cabinet lights, appliances, pendant lights, ceiling fans, island outlets, spot lights... then they came back after the cabinets were in place and the new appliances were in place and hooked everything up, hung the kitchen light and the island pendant lights.... They were fantastic. They were on time, very efficient, and totally competent. Our main kitchen remodeling contractor, Kitchen Doctors, recommended Family Electric and were very pleased with them.

We were difficult customers, as we both work from home with erratic and demanding schedules, and work had to be done around those schedules. We met with other Angie's List contractors who were not willing to accommodate these difficulties. Family Electric's whole house generator service is different: they provide for everything that is involved, including arrangements with the gas company, getting the tanks filled, inspections, and the first year's maintenance. Matt Horrell patiently helped us through finding the right gas company, waiting for times when we could manage the requisite outages, and dodging weather difficulties. In between he did electric repairs, and he was extremely thorough in cleaning up everything and leaving our property looking terrific. We heartily recommend this firm, and intend to use them for all of our electric work in the future.

Everything went very well. A team of two was able to do all the work in about 3 hours, well under the time estimate. Both employees knew exactly what needed to be done and worked quietly and efficiently. We were especially impressed by the installation of the light fixture on a very high, sloping ceiling. All in a day's work for them! The fans all are perfectly balanced and working beautifully. They made sure we understood all the features on the remote controls.

I can't speak to the long-term aspects of the relationship because it just started. But as for my experience, this company was simply amazing. It was a big job and took a number or days, but every step was explained to me and performed on time. I had a whole house generator installed and they handled everything - permits, gas company, plumbers, etc. Well done Family electric - and a special Kudos to Matt for his hard work.

It was very successful from start to finish. I would advise to make sure you consider work it takes to patch up the holes that adding recessed lighting will leave behind. They did a great job so the holes were unavoidable, but consider the cost of that repair into your overall project cost.

Staff were professional and courteous. Onsite estimate was fast and thorough. Electrician staff were proffessional and efficient. Were it not for some bad weather that delayed their return visit, this would have been a 2 day, and not 3 week job. I would recommend and will continue to use this company for our electrical needs.

I purchased everything at Home Depot prior to the install date. I requested if anything specifically to be purchased so the technicans wouldn't need anything at the time of install. I purchased two hours of labor @ $99 per hour. (Fine details were two technicans for two hours or one technican for four hours) I spoke to the owner and I discussed everything I purchased and needed from the technicans. I made an appt for an estimate and to discuss specifics with the technicans. The service technicans were not the problem. The service technicans were punctual, courteous, knowledgable, and professional. The day of installation, the senior tech told me that the half an hour of time that was used for our first meeting and estimation was to be deducted from the two hour time limit. Also any type of material they used I would have to pay for the material. I replied that I thought we went over the material list so I could have everything ready for them. I told them sincee they were only allowed an hour and a half, get in as many as they can. They got five out of six installed and I ended up cleaning up. I thought speaking with the owner on the initial phone coversation and asking specific questions I wouldn't have any surprises When I called the company ( left messages) after the installation to inquiry about the surprises that were not discussed prior to the installation. I never got a returned phone call.

I needed power cut to an outside shed which was being demolished. The electricans ran into a problem due to the original wiring. They took the time to correct that issue as well as do the requested work. More than satisfied with the entire experience.

They did a great job on time and within the coupon limit($99) plus $12 for parts. I will be calling them again soon for more needed electrical work.

My appointment arrival time was 8-8:30 am. They arrived just a few minutes after 8:30am, which was fine. The technician introduce himself and his assistant. I showed them the GFCI outlet that was given me the most trouble, upon removing the outlet they found the problem right away, the wires were not connected properly. While the technician tested and changed out that one, I showed his assistant another one. This outlet had a bad GFCI, they preceded to change it. So I decided to have them look at all the GFCI outlet in my home. They found that 5 out of the 6 were bad. They replaced all of the outlets, even going out to buy more outlet so that I could have all of them matching. However, please read the "Big Deal" fine print, the technician assistant counts as a second person. So that cuts your 2 hours down to 1 hour of service for $111.00, which is more than they normally charge per hour ($99). I wasn't given the option to choose 1 technician so that I could get my full 2 hours of service. Also I was charge $24.50 for each GFCI outlet that was replaced. I looked online at lowes and the average GFCI price was around $15.00, so I feel like I was charged an extra $100 (1/2 hour of service + $10 per outlet). I do feel more comfort knowing that things are working fine. I would work with this company again, I will be more prepared and ask more questions about pricing.

I received 4 estimates for the proposed lighting work. Family Electric was the most reasonably priced and seemed the most knowledgeable about all of the products needed to do the job. I asked for recommendations on how to place the lighting and what type of under cabinet lighting I could install, considering my cabinets have no overhang on the bottom. Two of the other companies did not have any experience or real knowledge of the LED tape lighting option, and suggested that I go to a lighting supplier to inquire about options. Family Electric knew how to install the LEDs and was able to provide all materials required for them. While their quoted price to install the LED lights was higher than the other company, when put altogether, the total estimate for all of the work was less with Family Electric. One of the best parts is that the Family Electric estimate included patching the ceiling drywall, while some of the others did not. Scheduling the work was easy, with about a 1 week lag time. Family Electric was very accommodating with my work schedule. I stayed home the first day, which was helpful as there were some questions about exact placement of the new recessed lights. The two electricians doing the work were very professional and offered good solutions to the inevitable little problems that can arise in any job. I felt comfortable having the electricians return to my home the next day without needing to be there. They completed all of the lighting work rapidly, and the drywall was patched within a few days. Any mess was well cleaned at the end of each day. The job turned out beautifully. Absolutely no issues with this job at all. Family Electric is terrific to work with, does high quality work, and is reasonably priced.
