George Taylor showed up on-time, and got right to work. He began by evaluating the wiring and controllers and fuses and circuit breakers in the basement. The power to the well pump wouldn't stay on even after he replaced the two slow-blow fuses ahead of the pump controller and the controller head/panel. We went outside. When he pulled off the well core cap, smoke poured out. The heavy (maybe 30 lbs) pump at the bottom of our 165' deep well bore had somehow broken a plastic connector inside the well head where it connects to the 90-degree pitless adapter fitting that then feeds the pressurized water to the house line. All of that weight plus the 1and quot; continuous water supply pipe from the pump to the surface had then dropped the free length of the three pump 220v wires, (maybe 10') down inside the well core until it all was hanging by only one of the three wires that go down to the pump at the bottom. The two broken wires had scraped against the steel core lining above ground before they broke, and the 220v then had an immediate direct short, and that caused the smoke when he replaced the fuses in the basement. Now panic time on my part, because all of that weight was hanging by a thread, and the top of the broken-off pipe to the bottom is maybe 10' below the ground surface, and it's underwater in the core. I watched George thinking out loud, trying to figure out how he could get all of that weight pulled up to the surface by just that one remaining wire. If all the stuff in the core dropped, then worst-case he'd have to get a crane out to try to fish for the innards. George is really good with wells, as we've used him several times already to fix the wiring, controller, submersible pump, and the pressure tank in the basement. I left George for awhile, and the next thing I know he's knocking on the mudroom door with a smile on his face. Turns out he was smart and lucky. Somehow (I think this is how he explained it to me) he was able to reach inside the pipe and grab enough of the broken two wires at arm's length, and was able to crimp (and solder!) two cables onto the broken wires, and was then carefully able to pull all of that weight up using the two cables and the remaining wire. Once he got the supply pipe above ground, he secured everything so it wouldn't slip down again, and it was and quot;onlyand quot; a matter of replacing the broken/cheap connector pipe with a brass one, attaching the supply line from the pump, cutting out the burned/melted 220v wires, then putting everything back together. It was four hours labor plus $12 for the brass fitting. Yes, I'll be cleaning out faucet screens for a couple days from all of the muddy sediment churned up inside the well core, and we'll have exploding toilets until all of the air pockets get pushed through all of the pipes in the house, but we're part of the indoor plumbing world again. Yaaaaaay!
Description of Work: Repaired broken supply pipe fitting below the pitless adapter inside our home's well core.

George Taylor has a vast knowledge of the industry, the products used and the providers in the area. He is extremely professional, on time, stands behind his work and is a true gentleman. George approached our issues by listening intently, asking questions and then going over various options. His attention to detail and pride in his work is something that was a refreshing. He is from the era where people did work on a handshake with integrity. When we lost water pressure in our house and found some leaks I was ready to be gouged on a project that would take several days. George was extremely cost conscience. He managed his time and my time effectively by communicating like letting me know when he would turn the water off and for how long. He cleaned up after himself which (as a mother of four) I really appreciated. A year later, when I had a related issue, he came out free of charge because he felt the product that he used was faulty and replaced it. We have been in our house for over 15 years and worked with a lot of contractors. George Taylor is one I highly recommend.
Description of Work: George Taylor installed a new well pump, new pressure tank and fixed a hole in the pipe going from the well to the house.

I called on a Wednesday afternoon on the recommendation of a plumbing company. The owner of this one-man company committed to coming the next day. He later called back to say he would be at my home at 8:00am. I did not request, nor could the provider have given me an estimate since there was no way for him to know whether I had a minor problem or an expensive one. He arrived exactly on time. His thorough testing, while indulging my questions about operation and possible sources of the problem, enabled him to isolate the problem. I was happy to hear that he would be replacing the switchbox at the pressure tank, an inexpensive part. This time there was no need to go into my eight-year old well to check or replace the much more expensive pump. The entire time for diagnosis and repair was approximately an hour. It was a pleasure to have this very experienced and highly ethical service provider professionally solve my problem. Dealing with Fairfax-Loudoun Well and Pump was a positive experience. I will definitely use him for any future well/pump problems and am recommending him to my neighbors.
Description of Work: Diagnosed and fixed a problem of intermittent operation of the tank that pressurizes my well water for distribution throughout the house.
