Lousy. I was sent an e-mail with my scheduled date and time. Once that time approached and the company had not called or arrived, I called the office and was told I was not on the schedule for that date and would have to reschedule.

I purchased an Angies's linst special from Envirogrow for lawn areastion and seeding--$149. The special included compost and lime for $60 and $12.50 per thousand sq feet respectively. I spoke to Larry and elected to go with mulch and lime, in addition I requested they use "Heavy Shade mix" as my yard gets very little direct sun--No problem says Larry. I had measured my yard at about 2,000 sq feet so I estimated it would cost an additional $150 or so. Avery contacted me and an appointment was set up for Friday 10 April. Avery called me in the late morning of 9 Apr and asked is she could have a crew stop by that afternoon as they were aleady in the area--I agreed. When the crew of three showed up they had the areation machine, and some kind of seed, but no lime of compost. I asked repeatedly about the compost, lime and heavy shade mix; they kep saying "Yes, yes" but eventually just got intheir truck and drove away. I called Avery and a re-do was scheduled for the following day. It seemed to go fine, but I was not there to confirm the lime and shade mix. I recieved an email from Chris Hunt (President/Owner) that same Friday asking me if I was happy with their service. I told him the whole sorry tale and he eventually got back to me saying the job had been completed as requested. FAST FORWARD A COUPLE OF MONTHS and I am looking at an invoice from Envirogrow for the compost and lime I had requested in addition to the original special--it was for $470. My small back yard they estimated at 3,500 squar feet (I measured it and it's right at 2,000 sq feet) AND they charged me for 7,000 sq feet of compost ... my entire lot, house driveway, front yard etc is only 7,900 sq feet. I had calculated by bill at $145, they had charged me $470. I called Envirogrow and talked to Chris ... I retold the story of the bafoonnery and the re-do and then about the gross overestimation of the square footage, and the apparent double charge for the compost (he offered I may have requested double compost--ahhhh-No). I told Chris if there was an issue with the size of the yard they could come over with a tape measure and I'd be happy to hold an end while we measured; "I'm willing to pay what I owe but this isn't even close" were my exact words. Chris said he would look into it and get back to me in the next 24-48 hours. That was well over 96 hours ago and I have not heard a peep. Grass looks fine, but I would not use these guys unless you feel like being overchargeed by 200% or so. UPDATE: I recieved a second invoice from Chris; the double charge for compost was removed but despite my objections to the assesment of my sq footage I was again billed for 3,500 sq feet. I once again replyed that I was not going to pay for 3,500, that my yard was about 2,000 sq feet. Chris sent me a curt responce stating that his Regional Manger would be over to measure. I was there when the actual measurement was taken--54 feet by 26 feet, or 1,404 sq feet total. Chris sent me a third invoice, this time for 2,000 sq feet. I contacted Chris on the phone and the coversation was not pleasant. HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE HIRING ENVIROGROW: Envirogrow does not actually measure your yard and then chage you for that amount of sq footage; Chris (or his staff) estimate the square footage by looking at "aerial" pictures/views--what I suspect is they use Zillow or some other site to get the square footage of your lot. Chris correctly told me that my lot was 7,900 sq feet. Paraphrasing Chris, "I know there is the house, driveway etc, and that betweent the front yard and bact it's about half"--this is where they got the 3,500 sq feet for my yard(never mind I did not have my front yard done). They then take that number and round up to the nearest thousand. Evirogrow/Chris only physicaly measured my yard after the second time I refused to pay ... the company, by policy, does not physicaly measure your yard, and they round up so even after my yard measured 1,404 sq feet they tried to bill me for 2,000. Chris does not sem to have a problem not actually measureing your yard, or rounding up, or the fact that no where does it say that's how they do business. I will not use them again and recommend you do not either. Chris will not be surprised by this review, nor I guess even displeased as he does not think their policies are inproper so should not object to my making them clear to you the potential customer.

I purchased a Big Deal to have some trees trimmed back in my yard. I had explained the work I wanted to have done over the phone, and they sent a crew without meeting in person, which I thought was great. However, they did not trim the trees I had requested. I will say, the owner was extremely willing to have the crew come back out and do the work as per my original request - and sent someone over to look at the job this time. They still missed the "target trimming", so I sent pictures. The team came back a 3rd time -- and they got it right. I know communications can go awry, and lesson learned is that an in person estimate is best. But for Envirogrow's willingness to fix this issue without any complaint or pushback, I give them an A rating.

The Big Deal went relatively smoothly. I was contacted by Larry and we scheduled a date for the clean up. He mentioned other services available, including mulch. I told him I was interested in receiving a price to have my yard re-mulched and to have them mow my yard on a weekly basis. Unfortunately, I did not receive a quote until after the spring cleaning was completed. It took a couple weeks, but Larry sent me an estimate for the mulch, but no estimate for mowing. I signed the agreement for the mulch at the end of March, but was told the work would not take place until the middle of April. I finally received an estimate for mowing services on April 6, and agreed to it the next day. The mulch job looked decent initially, but the "dark brown" mulch completely lost all color within 2 weeks. The new mulch is now lighter than the previous mulch, which was laid 2 years ago. If they applied any type of weed control, it's news to me. Weeds were sprouting from the beds within 2 weeks after the mulch was laid. The lawn mowing service was an unmitigated disaster. I signed the agreement on April 7, and left for a vacation on April 9. The lawn was already long before I left, but I assumed they would cut it at least once, maybe twice, by the time I got back on April 21. I received an email from Chris on April 18, saying that my normal mowing day would be on Mondays. I was a bit surprised they hadn't mowed the lawn yet, but I assumed it would be done when I got home. I got home on April 21 and saw my neighbor mowing her front lawn. She saw me and said that my grass was really long. I noticed that the grass in my front yard was mowed, and asked her if she knew when they came. She told me they hadn't, and she had mowed it. I then walked into my backyard and noticed that the grass was over 2 1/2 feet tall. I emailed Chris and called the company the next morning (Wednesday). They told me they couldn't come that day, but would come the following day (Thursday). Thursday came and went and no grass mowed. I called again and they told me they would come on Friday. Friday came and went and the grass still wasn't mowed. I finally ended up mowing it myself. The following Monday, I called Chris and told him I wanted to cancel the service, which he agreed to do. Responsiveness and punctuality are two areas where this company needs major improvement.,

Buying the deal for yard cleanup via Angie's List was very easy - scheduling the service was not! I tried to discuss with them options for what would be needed to get my yard back in shape but getting a response took a while. Apparently they had sent somebody by to work on an estimate for the tree stump removal and that resulted in a quote. Then I was given the option of buying extra mulch and topsoil. Went with the topsoil option because given the tree stump removal we expected there to be a hole leftover to would need to be filled. Finally agreed on a date and had to reschedule due to weather. The crew finally showed up asked about providing mulch again. Mulch was declined and topsoil confirmed. The crew was done in less time than expected. Unfortunately I only noticed later that a part of the yard wasn't touched - bad on me for not noticing it and bringing it to their attention. The part of the yard that got done looked very nice though. Early May we received an invoice and it includes all the services as well as the mulch that was declined and which was not delivered. I have disputed the invoice twice but haven't heard back. I'd love to pay them for the tree stump removal and the topsoil but I refuse to pay for the mulch.
Description of Work: removed a tree stump, pruned a tree, and did yard cleanup with delivery of topsoil.

This provider never showed up to do my landscaping work. After repeated attempts to make an appointment and repeated no-shows when I did make an appointment, I have finally given up on the company. When I did finally have an appointment I was told I would be the first appointment of the day. By 10 that day no one had shown up. I called the company to verify they would be arriving soon. The receptionist couldn't confirm she had my appointment and said she would have someone call me right back. After not hearing for an hour, I called back. The same receptionist said I did have an appointment and they would e here in the afternoon. This of course caused me to wait all day and by 5 no one ever showed up. When I called back after 5 the office was closed. I did write the owner after this no-show and he immediately contacted me and told me he would make it right. I was hopeful and he did call me the next day and told me someone would call me to schedule. After a couple of days, someone did call and we made a Saturday appointment for him to just look at the job at 10 am. This person never showed up. By 1 pm, I called this person who said their vehicle had broken down and they couldn't make it and they were just emailing me. I never got this email. He told me he would definitely have a crew at my home on Monday morning and we agreed I would leave instructions. After leaving instructions, arranging the vegetables and plants I wanted planted, leaving mulch in my driveway and leaving my rear yard fence open before going to work, I came home to another no-show. I am now going to seek my money back from Angie's List.

Communications were horrible. I received a couple "automatic emails", but every time I responded I just got emails that someone would contact me - never happened. The finally scheduled and then there were two no-shows based on the times I was emailed they would come. I contacted them; they were very apologetic and rescheduled. Again another no-show. I got angrier and they finally showed on the third scheduled time. All communications were via email, and I never received a phone call. What ever happened to the day when a real person would reach out, especially when the customer is frustrated. The actual job was not impressive. It seemed very rushed, and after they left I saw that they even missed a huge spot in my front yard. In the end I was not impressed and will not use their service again. Score would have been a lot higher if someone would have actually called me, but I assume they were overwhelmed by the response to the deal. This was a classic case of if it seems too good to be true, it probably is...

I had to call the company because they never confirmed a date after receiving the initial confirmation email. I added the extra services at that point.when the day of service came there were no phone calls to let me know when they were coming. The Thursday before the appt. I called to make sure the additional fertilizer was added to my service and to add additional fertilizer for the back of the property. I had to leave a message, but my call was never returned by the person in charge of appointments. (Avery) on the day of the service (April 6th) I ended up calling the office to confirm when they were coming because it was early afternoon, I was then told that my appointment was canceled and no one would be coming that day. I asked for a call back from the office manager, because I was livid. The manager did call back and I was also conferenced with the owner. I was very understanding as the new businesses using Angie's List deals are not often well prepared nor do they handle the deals well, especially for a service that is very deadline oriented to receive optimum results from their product. They pulled a crew off another job and had them at my house by 4:30 without enough material to do the job. I then asked the person in charge of the laborers if I could speak to his manager, Brandon Miller - who pulled him off the other job and sent him without enough material. I was angry they didn't finish the other customer's job before coming to my place and that they didn't come prepared. I had other responsibilities and could not be present in the next hour to put up with their inadequacies nor did I trust them to do the job well at this point. This was supposed to be a week of intermittent rain that is great for seeding and it was due to rain overnight. I asked if it was possible for them to come the next morning and perform the aeration, fertilization and seeding at that time. They did show up the next day as did Brandon close to on time. (He ended up pocket dialing me later.) they were in such a hurry because they had 39 jobs to do that day. The man operating the aerator ripped up the hillsides, because he was hurrying so much. When they were done, I asked Jeremy(?) what care I needed to do for the yard. (Water well every 3 days after the rains came through that week.) I asked him about the extra charge above the $139 deal and he told me that since they messed up so much their was no charge. The work agreement I signed totaled at $139 with taxes included (there was also a coupon discount to make it this price). I talked to Brandon to confirm this as they were packing up. Later that day, I had to replace some of the dirt and spread more seed after they left. I had also gone to the extra measure to have hay to protect the seeds from the rain and wildlife. Much of the seed on the flatter areas has come up, but along the garden and patio it is sparse. Then today I received an invoice from them for $552.50! I had paid through Angie's List when I signed up for the deal!
Description of Work: I signed up for a special Angie's list deal of $139 to get 7000 ft.² of yard aerated and seeded. I received a confirmation email that had extra services that you can add on so I added fertilizer and compost at the rate specified.

*** UPDATE TO THIS REVIEW 7/24/2015 *** I must update this review because after I paid the invoice I have been hounded by this company to recover $169 that I deducted from the invoice and didn't pay because I ALREADY PAID IT TO ANGIES LIST FOR THE DEAL I PURCHASED. When I received the original invoice I called the office and noted that the angies list amount I paid was not listed on the invoice and the person there told me to deduct it, which I did. Then two weeks ago the office called and said I had $169 outstanding (the exact cost of the deal that I paid through Angies List) and that the next step was to send the delinquent account to a COLLECTIONS AGENCY. I said that was a mistake and that I wanted to ask the owner of the company, Chris Hunt. I wrote to him but heard NOTHING BACK and they called again yesterday and said again the account would go into collections if I didn't pay it. I paid it reluctantly because I don't want my credit messed up but these kinds of business practices are bad news. I WOULD NOT USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN. If you pay through Angies list for a deal, they clearly don't keep track of what has been paid and could make you pay it again. I am very dissatisfied and have written again to the owner of the company, but have received no reply. Worst deal ever. $700 for the work done was absolutely not a good buy, and the service and respect I received as a customer was zero. ORIGINAL REVIEW 5/2015: Considering I have a difficult yard with many different types of native plants and ferns that I didn't want disturbed, it went well. When the supervisor came out before the job date to assess what needed to be done, he was quite critical of the state of my yard, which I didn't think was very professional. Clearly, if my yard were in great shape I wouldn't be calling for help! That said, the crew that came out to do the work was great, especially AJ, the site supervisor. The yard now looks great and AJ gave me some tips on planting grass seed which was the next thing I was going to do on my own.

I initially purchased their lawn aeration big deal for $149. It took almost a month for them to get to my job, probably due to the busy time of the season. However, what I'm disappointed about, is that I had to call them and let them know the work had not been performed (they thought it had been!) on the day that they said it would be. I'm not sure why I had to be the one to follow up with them. I suggested that they leave some sort of ticket or documentation behind in the future, so that their customers know what work has been completed. Better yet, send an email to follow up with customers about the work that was performed. Also, when I originally purchased the big deal, I sent several emails asking to purchase some of the additional services that they offer (lime, fertilizer, top dressing). I had to ask the same question multiple times, over the course of 3 weeks. Finally, I started communicating with the owner Chris, which is not something I should have had to do. After speaking with Chris, I was able to get my work scheduled and completed, including the additional services. I think they are good company, they just need to work on communication with customers. I shouldn't have to contact the owner to get what I need. In the end, their crew did a good job. The cost of top dressing was $420, for a yard that's 1/2 acre.

The crew arrived on time and the Crew Leader discussed the specifics of the job with me. They did a great job and were efficient, conscientious, and thorough. The result exceeded my expectation. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. Update 5/26/2015: I received an invoice from Envirogrow for two additional hours of work. I neither authorized nor received additional labor. I sent an email to the President/Owner and then re-sent it when I didn't hear back within two days. I then did receive an email back that asked for 24-48 hours to research the matter. That was two weeks ago and I haven't heard anything back yet. Have reached out again. Waiting. As a result of this mis-billing, I've lowered my Overall and Responsiveness ratings. Update 6/2/2015: The billing discrepancy has been resolved. No additional charges. I've adjusted my overall rating to reflect the quality of service I received from the crew that did the work. They were great.
Description of Work: The Envirogrow crew cleared leaves, trimmed bushes, and spread 50 bags of mulch in my front yard.
