Thanks for the A. I truly mean that - here is a woman, who is contacted by Angie's List THREE YEARS after I did an inspection. They do this to increase site traffic so they can charge more for their advertising. But here is a review with someone who cannot possibly remember the inspection - how could she? If you read my reviews, please read the ones which were not solicited 2-3 years later on properties where I did absolutely no work - Inspection yes, but no work. Read my reviews where I did work. Angies List - reviews you cannot trust any longer. Used to be a great company - they went public raised 100's of millions, ethics went out the window.

People seem to think a B is a good grade. I can only assume they were B or C students in school. This member states she would hire me again. Based on her B I wouldn't do work for her. I don't need the money. AND I certainly do not need B's - I'm a 4.0 GPA Class Valedictorian. I have over 130 A's here on Angie's List. FROM TWO YEARS AGO! Well, I'm back - got tired of all the gripers and complainers who I NEVER met giving me F's. Hmmmphf. Never did business for them - and thank the lord - because they were obviously complaints ready to happen. Will no longer do inspections for FREE - ANGIE"S LIST TAKES ALL THE MONEY ON HER BIG DEALS. WHY? Because if you study Angie's List - in their history they have never had a profitable year. SHE NEEDS THE MONEY. I DON"T NEED THE FALSE OR BOGUS COMPLAINTS. Why False or Bogus? Well, some of my competition asks their relatives to sign up and submit a bogus review. Worst of all - you should't be able to submit a review that is totally subjective when the criteria is objective. You should never be able to give me less than an A for punctuality when I show up early or on time EVERY TIME in spite of the worst traffic in the world. Pricing?" I don't set that for Big Deals - Angie's List does - AND COLLECTS ALL THE MONEY - yet I get gripes about the $98 Big Deal price, and it's unconditionally guaranteed - people ask for a refund 2 years later and get it - all I get is a c, d, or F for price. Please, if you're a complainer, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE call Aquaguard or Mid-Atlantic or another company that steals peoples money - Please do not call me. I hope whoever reads this is having a wonderful day.

Foundation Expert came to my home to give an estimate on possibles repairs for damage to my foundation. It was determined that no repairs were necessary. Afterwards I was given some pointers on taking care of the plants and grading surrounding the foundation. Foundation Expert was prompt, courteous, and professional. I deeply appreciate their integrity and honesty.

Response from The Foundation Expert
Often we'll look at a foundation and there will be cracks which, at present, may be totally insignificant. Most foundations have cracks, regardless of type. We did not give a free estimate, we do not do estimates. We sometimes, depending on the person and situation, do a free inspection. I often travel with my engineer and he charges the company regardless. But our inspections have to be honest and factual. It only takes 2 weeks to be a 'contractor' and to be a waterproofer apparently doesn't require ethics, honesty, any type of certification, although a contractors license helps - I can turn anyone into a contractor in 2 weeks. It would take EIGHT (8) YEARS to become a Professional Engineer. Our engineer is licensed in 26 States, although we focus at this point on the DC Metro Area - Maryland, N. Virginia, and D.C. When we see something that doesn't need repair, we tell the homeowner. What we do not like are the companies that give FREE ESTIMATES - you'll find out it really isn't free when you pay $20,000 to fix something that doesn't need fixing, or you pay $20,000 to fix something that does, and you don't get what you pay for. Worse, you create more damage. This member was ready to pay us any amount to fix his home. He lives in Bethesda, a wealthy area, he already stated that I would be the only one doing the work, but there was nothing there that needed fixing. If you truly want a no nonsense analysis of what is happening with your foundation or any area of your home, we're the company to call. And we will charge an inspection fee - but you'll get an inspection that most Home Inspectors cannot do, because they're not qualified. If you want to spend money needlessly, please - call a "Waterproofer". We also would like to thank this member for his review. This is what we work for - great reviews.

This member is a lovely 87 year old woman who lives around the corner from me in a condo unit. She thought she was having mold issues and when I arrived ( for a paid inspection) I found a lot of dust which tends to congregate around the door jam, because of the mechanically ventilated buildings we all live in. I have the same problem in my condo and told her that it wasn't mold. Yet, she was having an allergic reaction to something, so I asked permission and inspected her home and found the HVAC system was filthy. I went downstairs and spoke with the property manager and that will be taken care of. But I also looked around and discovered that her humdifier had not been cleaned for at least 2 years and had more mold in that unit than you can imagine. Since she has difficulty navigating around, I called her son to handle the cleaning and / or removing of her humidifier. As payment I asked for a bottle of water, and when she objected, I raised the price of my inspection to 2 bottles of water. I will check back with her, but truly my payment was recieved tenfold when she submitted this unsolicited review.

Excellent. Sam is a consummate professional & dedicated to client satisfaction. There were a lot of moving parts with this job, and Sam did well to manage them efficiently & smoothly. I came to trust Sam through this job and have no qualms about returning to him for work in the future. We took other bids for this job and just couldn't seem to sense the level of integrity with others that Sam seemed to convey from the start. We were affirmed in this judgement throughout the job as Sam repeatedly represented himself and his company as being anchored in honesty. This went a long way with us and is the main reason we plan to call on him again if and when the time comes.

This member, both the husband and wife were a joy to work with. Extremely intelligent consumers, wonderful child who we were creating the bedroom for. It went flawlessly. They did everything they said they would do and were available for questions and other projects expeditiously.
Description of Work: I had water entering my basement. I contracted with a different contractor who charged me a lot of money and his system failed miserably. I replaced my carpet 3 times and had to take him to court costing me time and money. My neighbor had problems with water in their basement as well. They went through Sam and his previous partner. They stayed dry and highly recommended Sam and his previous partner. Sam came over, gave me the history of our home and our area and knew what the problem was and how to fix it. I got another estimate which came in much higher than his. I signed the contract, they did the work well, cleaned up after themselves, and did so on time, at cost and without any additional time needed. During the installation process, Sam noted that the previous systems flaw was in the grading of the trench and an improper depth. As I mentioned earlier, I had to take the previous contractor to court. Sam used his decades of expertise and testified for me, for free. A whole day he took off to do this to help out, not for payment, but because he fights for consumers like me when they fall prey to unscrupulous contractors. The judge at my hearing noted tha tthe testimony from Sam was the most effective and respected during the hearing. Since then, Sam has started his own business. I wish him well and I will use him again for other projects if needed. I know I won't need him for waterproofing as they guaranteed their system for life.

This member is a prime example of what is wrong in the Contracting Industry, especially here in the DC Metro area. Angie's List is not perfect, but no one is doing a better job of filtering out the bad apples. Most consumers, home buyers, understandably, do not understand construction and certainly do not understand contracting. The previous contractor received 3 times what we charged for our work, yet his work was worthless, accomplished absolutely nothing except taking the members hard earned revenue. I agreed to testify as an expert witness, and although it cost me 2 days of work, testifying on the member's behalf, defending the underdog was more valuable and more rewarding. In the end, the bailiff came out and wanted my business card, the Judge enjoyed my testimony, and one of the visitors sitting in the court gallery recently contacted me requesting work to be done. I'll profit here on Earth or when I return to the source, but someone needs to right this ship. So, in the end, our focus is helping others - this is what we do. We give an honest assessment of what is occurring and who to trust, who not to trust. It takes 2 weeks to become a waterproofer - it takes 8 years to become an engineer. Big, big difference. And it takes exceptional work, wonderful customers and great review to become a Super Service Award Winner.

Sam was excellent, responsive, no frills. Came quickly assessed my foundation issues and gave me a no-nonsense estimate. I liked that he didn't bad mouth the competition, just focused on his credentials. His team did an outstanding job...quick, professional and cleaned up nicely when the job was done. My foundation is no longer crumbling and I don't have any more water/mustiness in my basement. I'd gladly recommend Sam and his team to anyone for a solid, foundation water-proofing/repair (I recommended him and his team to my parents to fix their basement).

The member had a concrete block wall 43 feet in length by 9 feet deep. Water was infiltrating through the wall, no seepage at the cove. It was an easy assessment, although the work is as difficult as it gets, digging a trench 43 X 9 X 9. It was a costly project for any homeowner. We removed the stoop, cleared and cleaned the wall of all debris, parge coated the wall again, applied 100 mil of liquid rubber, protection mat, and then tons of gravel and drain pipe, leading to an exterior sump basin - 10 feet in vertical length. Backfilled, carefully tamping, compacting every half foot back to grade, repoured their stoop. The member family was a pleasure to work with, always hospitable, offering coffee, water, doughnuts, and just wonderful people. We were happy to restore indoor air quality and structural integrity to their home. Most people would have balked at the work, and the enormous project - we applaud their intelligence in moving forward with the only and correct approach. We want to thank you for rounding out our New Years.

I noticed water coming into a corner of the basement of my 1959 rambler that I've owned for roughly a year. I contacted The Foundation Experts after reading all the positive reviews on Angie's list. I promptly received a response from the owner, Sam. We schedule a time for one of his crew, Brady, to come out and assess the problem. Brady showed up on time and quickly assessed the problem. I had a proposal from Sam within a day. The short story is, my house is on a downgrade and all the runoff water in my neighborhood comes towards my house and pools in this corner of my yard. It's a wonder the damage wasn't worse considering that the drainage system in place was 60 years old. Sam's proposal stated that the job would take 1-3 days, but the bulk of the work was completed in 1 day. Sam's crew were extremely polite and professional. I can not express enough how professional, responsive, and accomodating Sam and his team are. I have a wife who works night shifts as a nurse and Sam was more than willing to avoid working the days after she worked a shift. I highly recommend Sam and The Foundatin Experts. Sam deserves every positive review he gets on this site.
Description of Work: Excavated the exterior corner of my home approx. 6 ft X 6 ft X 5 ft, with drainage and exterior pump. Their crew excavated the contracted area by hand, and cleaned the area of loose debris and existing waterproof materials. Three cracks found in the foundation were sealed. All below grade exterior wall surfaces were parged (resurfaced) with mortar where necessary. They then applied to the wall surface a 60 mil layer of elastomeric rubber waterproofing membrane. Then as an added layer of protection, installed protection mat. Installed 4" perforated, A.D.S., flexible coiled drain-pipe in a bed of gravel, sloped for proper drainage. The drain-pipe empties into an exterior commercial grade sump container housing one heavy-duty, iron-cast, 1/3 horsepower commercial grade Zoeller™ submersible pump. Water discharges away from the home via PVC piping and allowed to run off as surface water. The excavated area was carefully backfilled and properly tamped to a rough grade. In addition, although it is not normally included, power was run for the sump pump.

Once again, the true reward for work like this is helping the customer enjoy a clean indoor air quality and knowing that they're not getting ripped off by someone not qualified or capable. To receive a review like this is icing on the cake. This member was a pleasure to work with which seems to be the pattern with Angie's List members. What was interesting in this project was finding the original terra cotta drain tiles at the base of the foundation footing, although they were completely compacted with clay. People use the expression "French Drain" thinking it has something to do with France. In 1850, Judge Henry French designed a drain system using courses of terra cotta pipe, laid side by side in a gravel trench around his farmhouse, theorizing that water brings insects, rodents, and disease. Well, its not theory, it is fact and Judge French's paper on Farm Drainage is still valid today. The 'Foundation Drain System' that Mr. and Mrs. Missirlian had was quality work 60 years ago, when plastic was not yet a product. But after 60 years, most homes need to be completely retrofiitted especially the foundation.

We encapsulated their crawl space - removed contaminated soil, replaced with clean washed gravel, a polypropylene drain fabric, a virtually indestructable anti-microbial 22 mil vapor seal, and then we insulated his walls with open cell spray foam. Two hours later I recieved a call from him. His remark was "I can't believe it took me so long to do this - I noticed the difference immediately." I'm happy they're happy.

Description of Work: Foundation Experts set a time and date for estimate, then did not show up or call or email to reschedule. Response to the contractor response: I can accept that I might have made a mistake, so I went back and reviewed my call records. I have two records of phone calls to the phone numbers listed on The Foundation Expert's Angie's List page, 1-877-344-1155 and 1-443-742-7801. I did call you, not someone else, and we agreed to a time and date for an estimate. You did not show up and you did not call to let me know you wouldn't show up. I'm not saying you are a bad person. My address is not a PO box it is an APO address. I do not work for one of your competitors and did not leave the other comment. it is an odd coincidence. Maybe you had a bad day. I've had enough experience with contractors that I don't tolerate that lack of professionalism. There are too many other contractors out there to let it start like that.

Response from The Foundation Expert
As a company owner, you wonder when someone is going to complain, and then you wonder, is it a legitimate complaint. Legitimate complaint meaning they were truly a customer and have a valid gripe. I do accept that The Foundation Expert is very busy - Angie List members seem to trust us and we do great work so I personally get about 3-4 calls every day from Angie’s List members. People want an expert, not a salesperson. Throw in an earthquake, two hurricanes, weather reminiscent of Seattle, and as a result, The Foundation Expert does a large volume of foundation, basement and crawl space inspections. So is it possible that someone called to set an appointment and we booked it and didn’t show? 0.00001% maybe. Not showing up? Not calling? That is not our pattern. It may happen by mistake one day, but certainly not with intention. And if you think we did, then we also apologize because perception is reality. Please, forgive us – we don’t often make mistakes, and never intentionally. But please, let us take these two complaints that magically appeared at the same time on the same day, from two people I’ve never spoken to or heard of, never done work for, and I am the only one who sets appointments. I don’t recognize either complaining member; this member, (member)– never spoke with him. His member’s address is a PO BOX and his Zipcode is in California. Also, he references Foundation Experts, a company in Canada – my company name is The Foundation Expert. Also, Apex Waterproofing calls themselves The Foundation Expert – it’s on all their signs, their website, etc. We sometimes get mistaken for that company (which is ok – they are a good company – and extremely busy – I would bet they miss appointments. We don’t!). The second complaining member says she called, but didn’t receive a call back. But then states she would use us again. Why? I accept this possibility – we like most in this DC Area, are very busy; the people who answer the phones are usually busy, the website sometimes has a glitch and doesn’t accept someone filling out the form – I’ve heard that complaint before that the form didn’t work. But why complain? If you truly are in need of our services, Call back – or email. Try us – we usually answer, even late at night. But if that is what occurred, and you slipped through the cracks without a call back, we apologize. Please forgive me. Sometimes people’s voicemails are deleted or skipped over. Messages get lost. You may read our reviews and think we’re perfect, but I am very far from that pinnacle and the people in my company have a ways to go as well. But if you look at our history, you'll see a dedication to excellence in what we do. We have to date, 10 excellent reviews – that is not easy to accomplish - I probably completed 100 projects to earn those 10 reviews as people like complaining more than they like praising. Great reviews do not come easy, and the work we do is some of the hardest in existence. To have two people, see above or below - to have two people, complain on the SAME DAY, at the same time, with the same complaint, is a little too coincidental. I feel as though another company may be manipulating the Angies' system to harm my reputation. Or they’re complaining possibly about another company which claims to be a foundation expert or experts. Last, we don't do FREE ESTIMATES, which is the last reason I’m a little suspicious about these two complaints. We don’t use that term in our business. Free estimates is a ‘sales’ gimic promoted by companies who will come in, find a way to spend your money, and ‘work up an estimate.’ We charge to inspect your foundation. If you ask, I’ll tell you we do free consultations, but we do charge for our inspections since they are actually real inspections by an engineering company. We sometimes do a free inspection. If we’re to be considered as a contractor, we’ll take a look, determine what the problem is, what the solution is, and then work up a free quote on a project. So when people ask about estimates, my first question is – do you know exactly what work needs to be done, and if so, who told you so. We give exact quotes. And we tell people this – we tell people that we do not do free estimates - we'll come out, diagnose and tell you what your problems are, why they're occurring, and how much it would cost to fix those problems, but it won't be estimation. Plus, it will be a solution that does the work correctly since we put our names and reputation on the line, every time. And it will sometimes cost you $250-$475 for that initial inspection. Do us a favor – if you call or email or fill out a form on our website, and you don’t get a response in one day, please, please, please… call or email back. We work hard to generate these excellent Angie’s List member responses – that last thing we want is to miss an opportunity for another great review.

I was extremely pleased with Sam's professionalism, and his knowledge of waterproffing. I had researched a little online prior to his arrival, but he still took the time to explain the what and why's of the problems I had within my foundation. After we talked about his assessment of both the cracks, and replacing my ancient (and very loud) sump pump, we came to a preliminary price based on what the repair would require pending any further discovery of problems. Sam also welcomed getting other quotes, to compare with other businesses. He hands down, was more detailed and knowledgeable about what needed to be done instead of selling me an overpriced foundation digging project around the base of my house. My two other quotes were grossly overpriced, and failed to walk around the house and look at any and all potential problems. Sam also adjusted his schedule to not only get the quote done, but also had his two workers come out on a Saturday to dig a hole as the weather cooperated instead of a future date when the weather was calling for more rain. His 30+ years of experience in dealing with concrete and waterproofing is to be taken seriously. I would highly recommend him again to anyone needing a waterproofing job completed. Respectfully, Rick (CPT)
Description of Work: I had two different cracks within my foundation on two different walls identified from all the flooding between the spring and summer deluges that were allowing water to pool under tile, and through an existing crack in the unfinished basement. As well, he quoted the replacement of a new sump pump.

The Captain had several cracks in his poured foundation walls. We dug outside, cleaned and sealed them, waterproofed them with liquid rubber. 100 times more effective than tar. Place a protection mat, and backfilled to grade. Replaced a loud and old sump pump with a new one. This member is a Captain in the military, served multiple tours - in my opinion, a real hero. Sam and his team not only did the job on the contract, but when the recent hurricane hit the Atlantic Coast and offered more water issues, he quickly identified the problem, came up with a very reasonable estimate and solved my water problems once and for all. I would highly recommend them to anyone!
Description of Work: I had been having water problems in my basement of my townhouse for the entire length of ownership, over 16 years. I had several companies come in and do quick fixes such as sump pumps and french drains, but I continued to get water in the basement. Since this is a rental property, it was especially important to get the problem addressed once and for all. I found the Foundation Experts and was extremely please with every aspect of the work. I am a long-distance landlord and the respect and response I received from Sam was completely unexpected and greatly appreciated.

Member was a real pleasure to work for. We initially fixed the problem we were hired to fix in her Townhome in Alexandria, VA. Then the hurricanes started blowing water through her brick siding / facade. We came back, sealed that up, cleared her gutters and then finished the basement with drywall, trim, paint. Thanks Member for the reference.

I am waiting on a quote from another company so I can compare them. So far everything has been positive. The house is only 5 years old and there are also cracks in the floor so we don't know if it was faulty workmanship or the earthquake. He came out and he was sincere and took his time. He was very detailed in his explanation of what they were doing and why they were doing it. I was impressed by that. The quote is good for 30 days and I am waiting for my insurance company to come out. From the very first email I got back from him, we have exchanged pictures and videos. It was very good.
Description of Work: I got an estimate from The Foundation Expert because the basement flooded because the power went off because of a hurricane. Our finished basement that is almost 2,000 square feet flooded. They came out and recommended things to stop it from flooding and to replace the walls, carpet, baseboards and molding. They also have to fix cracks.

Normally, we charge a fee to inspect, diagnose, and provide solutions. I forget the reason we didn't charge the Butlers, but in my opinion, a great reveiw is far more valuable than any fee. Thanks for your comments. By the way, we place a 30 day limit or 21 day limit on our proposal pricing in case we have significant changes in costs. Although this fall the foundation inudstry in this area experienced a 20% increase in material and labor costs as demand went through the roof because of the earthquake and rains, we usually honor all quotes even if they have expired.

They were great - easy to schedule, prompt for appt, and provided free estimate on foundation repair (a number of companies were unable to schedule an appt promptly and charged up to $250-300...even for estimate).
Description of Work: Cracks in foundation externally from earthquake. We didn't book them because it turned out the damage was only superficial and we didn't need repairs, but appreciated the professional assessment.

We sometimes come out to a home and don't feel justified in charging the normal $350 (Angie's List customers get a break) for a Foundation Inspection, or $475 for a Certified Structural Engineer's Report. If the cracks or foundation issues are structural in nature (read my blog post on www.theFoundationExpert.com) then a Certified Engineer's Report is required to pull permits and do the work. In fact, most of the 'waterproofing' companies will sub-contract us to do their Engineering work. We are an Engineering and General Contracting firm that is Certified by 4 states to do foundation repair, waterproofing, etc. To be a waterproofer, all you need is a contractor's license and you can call yourself a waterproofer. There is no certification. To be an Engineering Firm, you have to have real degrees, pass all the certification boards. We're held to a higher standard.

From the day Foundation Expert visited us to the day the carpentry work was completed we had the best possible experience.
Description of Work: Assessment of exterior foundation crack. Responded within hours of email. Inspected the foundation and gave an honest assessment that resulted in no foundation work required or expense. We have the utmost respect for professionals that don't try to take advantage of customers. Foundation Expert can be trusted. We had damage to our standalone garage door. Foundation Expert arranged for a carpenter to repair. The work was excellent and very fair price. We are very satisfied.

I visited the members and met a very charming couple in a beautiful home in which was rocked, like most of us, by the recent earthquake. The inspected, found some cracks, and wanted a professional Foundation Inspection. I found various cracks, none of which were structural, or of any concern. I informed them that anyone could offer to do some work, but none was necessary at this time. They pointed out to me a part of the garage that had been damaged, very minor job, so I sent one of my carpenters over and when I saw this testimonial, I was pleasantly surprised - I feel these comments from members brings the most pleasure to doing this work. Thanks.

Initially I was concerned that it would be difficult to find someone who was knowledgable however any concerns I had were put at ease when I met Sam. He is very friendly, helpful and incredibly knowledgable about structural foundations and how to keep water out of basements. I was very pleased with his professionalism and friendliness. I would definitely recommend him again.
Description of Work: I called Sam to do a structural integrity inspection on my property after noticing some settling which had occurred over time. Sam came out and arrived fifteen minutes early and patiently waited for me to arrive as well. Sam took his time and did a thorough inspection of the property and offered some very helpful pointers along the way. He took lots of photos and provided me with a very comprehensive report of my property and his conclusion was that everything was okay. He was very trustworthy and I am already planning a second project with him.

The FoundationExpert team are the most professional contractors I have worked with in my 25 years living in Maryland. Sam showed up exactly on time and immediately showed me his contractor's license without being asked. The team quickly went to work looking for the source of my water leak. Once they discovered where the water was coming in Sam quickly provided the cost and timeline associated with the work. I checked the quote against other contractors and Sam's price was very reasonable. Once the repair work was completed the FoundationExpert crew cleaned up the area as though they had never been onsite. I will definately call The FoundationExpert team for any additional contract work I may have in the future! Kyle Hutchinson Gaithersburg, MD
Description of Work: The Foundation Expert crew was called to determine how water was leaking into my 1st floor Townhome. Sam immediately sent a crew out to do the exploratory work and perform the necessary remediation. The remediation work included repairs/reconstruction to the concrete foundation, siding, drywall, trim & flooring.

We were called out to the member's house in Gaithersburg - he lives in Kentlands. He had water above grade, which was unusual. Upon opening up his walls both inside and out, we discovered the original contractor had run out of concrete and didn't finish pouring his exterior wall. It was missing. The water was pouring right through his siding. No house wrap, not true concrete wall to stop the elements. We waterproofed the exterior wall, finished the drywall, trim and paint, and were thrilled to have another happy customer.

Fantastic. My elderly mother has a home in Silver Spring, and I help her with various tasks related to health and home. When visiting I often noticed that her house had a moldy odor. She noticed it, too, and frequently complained about it. But she insisted on treating the problem with products like Damp Rid and a dehumidifier. This of course did nothing to get at the real problem. And it was clear that when it rained, her house was a leaky mess. My mother was very reluctant to have any business come help. Too many scary stories. But we heard good things about The Foundation Expert so we took a chance and asked for help. Sam Weisgal -- the Foundation Expert -- came to my mother's home. His honest and straight-forward manner was immediately agreeable to my cautious and suspicious mother. He explained the problem in detail so that my mother fully grasped the nature of the problem, how it happened, and how it needed to be fixed. He provided options so that she felt comfortable with the solution they agreed upon. She proceeded, ever concerned, and was absolutely delighted with her decision. The work crew came and were polite, efficient, and incredibly hard workers. It was a bit noisy and messy at first, but the workers worked very hard and by the middle of the second day not only were they finished but it was hard to know they even were there. Of course there was new gravel outside and the new concrete inside but there was no mess. It is important to note that this was a decades old problem that my mother refused to treat because she does not trust businesses to be fair or, for that matter, good at their craft. Yet this experience with The Foundation Expert was exceptional. Moreover, this service was performed two years ago so we speak with confidence when we recommend The Foundation Expert. The problem ... well there is no longer a problem. The only problem is why my mother waited so long to fix it. She sings praise for the work crew and for the company. This from a woman hard to please.Based on the superb service provided to my mother, I have referred Mr. Weisgal to many friends for their waterproofing needs. But I learned that Mr. Weisgal does more than just waterproofing. He remodels. Well count me in. I already have started to develop the plans for extensive renovations to my home and he is my first and only choice. Straight-forward and honest, he also demands perfection, which is what I like most. It's done right. And that is right by me.My mother and I both endorse The Foundation Expert. Whole-heartedly. Without hesitation; without reservation.

Originally, I hired Sam (The Foundation Expert) to fix a leak I had coming into my basement. I was so impressed with his knowledge, his genuine passion for his field of work, his ability to answer all of my questions and concerns, that once the foundation leak was repaired, I hired his company to finish my basement (that had been damaged due to a flood.) I was extremely satisfied with the work performed in my house and would highly recommend him to anyone.

Like all my customers so far ( I must be blessed) was a real pleasure to work with and to work for. Her daughter is one of my favorite people. We installed a new drainage system in the rear right corner of her home around the Egress Window Well. A second pump was serviced. When we were done, she wanted her basement finished, so we did mold proof drywall, trim, paint, and then installed the carpet. Everyone was pleased with the finished product - I have before and after pictures of her job and many other Angie's List members in the gallery on my official site, the foundation expert.

We had interviewed a lot of companies that failed to respond with quotes. Quotes were prompt and very reasonable. Service began and was completed within days. Workers were courteous, communicative, resolved typical problems acceptably, clean, respectful, etc. Work was high quality. In the past 5 years, the majority of our engagements (major kitchen and bath renovations, carpentry) have left us feeling disappointed with service... they all left something hanging and stopped responding to issues or problems toward the end. We feel quite differently with The Foundation Expert, and would indeed use them again. We are providing here the first positive referral we have ever given.
Description of Work: Added an egress window to our lower level, framed and finished interior window. Added wall with electrical work, door, to create legal bedroom, converted alcove to standard closet with french doors, redirected ventilation in basement bathroom to exterior/garage. Added crown molding and baseboards to all surfaces. Wall included framing and drywall work.
