Couldn’t have done the project without her! She worked with my ideals and enhanced them. She had amazing people to work with for the cabinets, counters, and installing and demo for everything. Would have been too overwhelmed to make decisions but with her years of experience she knew exactly what to do. She is really easy to work with. She has a great eye for design. I recommend her to all my friends.

Great. Took total of 8 consecutive work days. Minimal disruption/noise. Kim redesigned the whole bathroom including choosing new cabinets, shower, tile and wall colors, fixtures, mirrors, and paint colors for the bathroom and the adjoining master bedroom. Workers were friendly and so hardworking. Kim is a delight to work with! We will be using her services to do a kitchen update.

Kim is fantastic!! She takes such an interest in her clients and provides the absolute best service. She knows exactly how to transform a space to make it functional for her client's needs. She is very detailed and goes above and beyond to make sure everything is just right. For example, she spent many extra hours helping us fix our kitchen design (we made numerous adjustments and she was always happy to help). She has phenomenal cabinet makers who were easy to work with--we adjusted our plan 3 times, but they were quick to help and didn't mind recreating the design. Kim has lots of experience and knowledge about home design. Another concern for us was the price. Since she has companies she works with she can get her clients fantastic discounts, and it is a very smooth and easy process since she knows them very well. She helped us get the best prices to stay within our budget. I can't say enough about how much we loved working with her. Highly recommend!

Kim is an extremely talented designer, incredibly personable and approachable. She really listens to your wants and needs, and works to incorporate your living style, and budget into the plan. Kim has a beautiful portfolio of completed projects which show a varied range of design styles and budgets. All of them are stunning, and you can see the little touches that make the space more functional, without losing style points! I am equally comfortable consulting with Kim on paint projects or whole room makeovers. She connected me with very talented artisans who crafted a beautiful custom cabinet that perfectly fit our space and needs.

She solved world peace in my home! Not only did she help me fix what I hated, but game for valuable interior design 101 to help me in the future. I will be contacting her in the future for other ideas and help as my home needs change. I am so excited to make the changes she suggested and live my home!

Kim completed a bathroom/bedroom remodeling project very quickly and painlessly. She dealt with all the contractors and only got me involved for choices. The finished project is fabulous. I recommend her very highly.

Kim helped me pick paint colors for my whole house, as well as furniture for much of it. One of the more unique additions is a red stenciled pattern on my kitchen island. It is unique, totally fits my style, and I get compliments on it all the time! She paid close attention to my wants and functionality needs. I absolutely love the way everything turned out! Kim is definitely a people person. She genuinely loves what she does and loves sharing her passion with her clients. I had her back a few years later to decorate the bedroom for my first child. It is again just a perfect fit!

Kim Johnson has done four very different major projects for us over the past seven years, and each one was creatively designed and flawlessly executed, with flair, a high degree of sensitivity to our taste, and hands-on follow-through to make sure they were completed on time with every detail right. Kim worked with us on a complete living room redecoration, a long-distance kitchen and bath renovation at our vacation home, a fully personalized living/bedroom for my mother at a retirement home, and an apartment in Old Town for our son. In addition, she has helped us refresh the master bedroom and bath, and found the right finishing touches on smaller projects, like a specialized glass door treatment and the right new tiles for our kitchen floor. Each time, Kim has worked with us on the concept, presented attractive choices, found and negotiated effectively with the right vendors, and seen through the execution of the work. We have found her range amazing, her judgment sure, and her fees very reasonable. We recommend her without qualification.

Kim is awesome! She helped me reimagine my entire first floor, picked the perfect paint color for my cabinets, and really "got" what I was trying to do in my home. I definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a major or minor redo!

What seemed an unending series of choices suddenly became fun as the pieces magically and methodically came together. We love our new home and are grateful to Kim for her knowledge, her talent, her insight and her patience.

Ms. Kim Johnson was intuitive, understanding and practical. Before she came over she suggested I read the book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo. I am not a stuff person so I thought I did not need it, but I delved in and it feels really great. Ms. Johnson is very focused and professional. She gave me a lot of ideas for free that I could do right away plus a few manageable tasks and explained how easily they could be accomplished when I hesitated. I can not wait to work with her some more. She has done a lot of theatre and restaurants so I know she can help with our house.

We truly enjoyed working with Kim. She provided expertise while also respecting our ideas and design aesthetic. For example, she looked at photo ideas we had, and then accompanied us to Home Depot to pick out materials. This not only ensured we got the look we wanted, it also allowed us to save some money since we picked out and purchased the materials ourselves. Her contractor also did an excellent job on the space. Home remodeling products are always an undertaking, but Kim helped along each step of the way.

It went very well. Kim knows her profession, has a vision, is flexible and a great partner. Kim always had ideas to share to help me realize my vision. What I particularly appreciated about Kim was her willingness to work within my budget. I am a single mother with limited means. I saved up for a while to afford my kitchen remodel and needed to do it all within a tight budget. Kim had ideas on how I could achieve my dream but to stay within my means. My kitchen looks terrific and I get compliments every time people come to my house and see my kitchen. This remodel took place November 2014. Since then, I have had Kim come back to help me with a project in my dining room. Next (when I save some more), I will have Kim come back to help me with a spare bedroom (currently a junk room) that will become a study. I would recommend Kim to anyone - not just for kitchens but also for any house project. She is not only a professional in her craft but is also lovely.

Kim Johnson of Kim Johnson Designs was a pure joy to work with and would highly recommend her!!! Throughout our whole-house remodel Kim helped to guide, recommend, encourage, support and educate us in an informative, experienced yet respective and completely comfortable way. She helped us to navigate the overwhelming and confusing process of a million choices by helping to uncover our desires and wishes (often unknown to us) to create a cohesive design direction that was in our style and budget. Our project included building new spaces (master bedroom suite, family room, mudroom) with an entire kitchen rebuild, as well as remodeling 3 additional bathrooms, laundry room and re-purposing existing space in 4500 sq ft house. The planning for the process was 7 months and construction 7 months, while interior design continues. Kim helped us make construction decisions during the early stages with an architect - she provided the real-world, practical, "women's-view" with architectural experience. Kim helped to confirm design decisions for all cabinetry (layout, wood choices, hardware and granite countertops) for extensive kitchen cabinets, dining room, and 4 bathrooms). Kim then directed the paint color choices for all rooms in the house and was essential in the selection of custom furniture items for new family room as well as window treatments for several rooms in the house. She also continues to make suggestions/answer questions about any area of the house whenever I ask. Working with Kim was like spending time with a dear friend, who is just as interested in your project and its success as you are (sometimes more when you are frustrated and tired of making decisions). Although she often works as a general contractor, we were working with a separate architect and contractor for the execution, yet she complimented them beautifully. She is very flexible in her arrangements and can work with anyone and any situation. Kim is very fair and reasonable. You will love working with her.

My wife and I were introduced to Kim Johnson by Donna Dawe, owner of Color Expressions Painting. Prior to the beginning of our painting project, we had some colors in mind but Kim was instrumental in helping us zeroing in on colors that would complement our contemporary home. For instance, initially we wanted the walls of our living and dining room a white or an-off white color. Kim suggested painting these areas in “Butter Scotch.” Essentially this is a white paint with a very light hint of an orange undertone. At first we were a little skeptical about this color. Kim recommended Butter Scotch based on the wood cathedral ceilings and wood floors in these rooms. She assured us that this paint color would nicely highlight these areas. She was spot on. The lighting gives the room a very warm, rich feel to it without actually perceiving any hint of orange. Kim was sensitive to our ideas and respected our color choices while helping us fine-tune some of our preferences. Regarding our downstairs bathroom we were undecided on what color we should select. Kim noted the tile pattern and suggested painting the bathroom with a gold-colored paint which complemented the dark blue diamond-shaped patterns on the white tile, a really neat idea. As a vote of confidence to Kim’s recommendations, during a recent visit by my brother and my sister-in-law, my sister-in-law asked for the paint brands and the name of the five non-white colors we used to enhance our home. My sister-in-law said that her home was in need of painting and she would like to use the same color paints as we did. Kim’s recommendations helped created an environment we look forward to experiencing after a long day’s work or a moment of relaxation.
