Capital Movers

This company's management is completely unreliable and unprofessional. I found them on Groupon and was excited to get a great deal on a 2-hour moving service to move out of my apartment in Northwest D.C. I had scheduled for them to come on a Friday afternoon between 2-5 pm. They agreed to give me the Groupon rate without me actually purchasing the Groupon, and they sent me an invoice with the details. There was no issue with that. The issue was that when I had not heard from them on the day of the move I gave them a call around 3 pm and asked when they would be coming. The manager (not the driver of the truck) told me the crew would be arriving around 5pm. Cutting it close but okay, I was not in a rush. Around 4:45, I called again. They are stuck in traffic, running late, etc. Told me they will be there in 20 minutes. I told the manager to give the drivers my phone number and he said sure sure I will, yet I never once heard from the drivers/movers. 5:15 rolls around and I have heard nothing. I call again. The manager specifically tells me "They just got to the building, they are parking, they'll be at your door soon." At this point I'm a little ticked off but OK, at least they are here now. 10 minutes go by and no sign of them. It's now a half hour past what was supposed to be the latest possible time they would show up. I call AGAIN. This time, the manager tells me, "Yeah...sorry ma'am...the movers are not able to come today. A problem with the truck. We can reschedule for Monday." Mind you I had to be completely moved out of my apartment by Sunday, which was why I had scheduled them for Friday. Not to mention this sketchy man who calls himself a businessman LIED to me directly and misled me to believe his movers would still be coming that day when in truth who knows where they were or if they were ever planning on showing up. I was furious to say the least. They agreed to reschedule for the following morning saying they could "squeeze me in" between 9-10 am. Again, no call ahead to let me know where they are. I call the manager again at around 10 am, he tells me they are 20 min away and to wait outside for them so they know where to go. Well i waited for nearly 45 min until they FINALLY showed up. At that point I didn't care, I just wanted them to haul my stuff out and leave. And to top it off my move went over the 2-hour quote by 10 MINUTES and they proceeded to charge me $75 for an additional half hour, even after speaking to the awful manager again and asking if he could waive that charge because of their cancellation the day before. Nope, he charged me for it. What awful customer service, really they should be ashamed. Although the one positive note was that the movers themselves, two men originally from Eastern Europe, were kind and respectful despite their manager's awful behavior. I give kudos to them and hope they can move on and work for a company that respects its customers.
