After reading all the reviews, there isn't anything more I can add. All I can do is echo the sentiments. Mike Cadle (3rd generation owner) is one of the nicest people you will ever do business with. His son, possible 4th generation, also helped build the patio. His whole crew were outstanding. They've been with him for 10+ years and were friendly, courteous and prompt. As promised, they cleaned up well behind themselves. I am overjoyed with the results. Having a red-brick house, I was unsure how well blue/grey flagstone would work. The stones were random enough in color that we ended up with several beautiful red/copper hued pieces that compliment the red brick perfectly. The crew showed up exactly when expected, and finished exactly as promised. They were even enthusiastic about how the patio looked. I did have to wait a few weeks for their next availability -- be patient -- well worth the wait! I'll have them attack the front porch next! Hire without hesitation! Just sorry I cannot share pictures! Mike has many before and after photos.

The contractor provided the estimate immediately. When contacted to perform the work, he gave the dates the work would be performed. The workers showed up on time, we're very professional, kept the property neat & clean and completed the work on time. I would definitely recommend this company.

Provided an estimate to repair chimney including mortar and repair bricks; also provided estimate to install flagstone patio over existing concrete slab at house entry. Mike offered cost-saving options to conduct the repairs and he was very patient when answering questions. The estimates offered were very competitive; at this time, however, I may have to delay the work due to other priorities.

Mike and his team repaired the walkway and it looks terrific! Another contractor suggested replacing the entire walkway but Mike assured us he could repair it and did at a third of what the replacement would have cost. They came on the day they said they would, performed the work in a timely manner and cleaned the area up nicely. We would certainly use this company again.
Description of Work: Mike and his team repaired a brick and flagstone walkway that was falling apart even though it was only 7 years old due to poor workmanship by a landscaping company.

We couldn't be any happier with Capital Masonry. My husband and I were looking to replace our old, rotting deck with a new patio but we weren't sure if we would go with flagstone or pavers. We also wanted to get the patio done in time for our son's 1st birthday, which was only about a month away. Mike was the first contractor I called and he was available to give us an estimate on that same day. He was professional, answered all of my questions, and provided a written, detailed estimate before he left. We also called 3 other contractors who varied in length of time to respond (one took almost a week to provide a simple estimate) and professionalism. We decided to go with Mike and Capital Masonry because of 1. price (all 3 of the other contractors' paver patios cost more than the flagstone patio that Mike quoted us at, which made me believe that we were mostly paying for overhead for their larger companies 2. scheduling (Mike assured me that he could get the patio done in time for my son's birthday if we could get back to him in a timely fashion, whereas the other contractors were not completely sure they could accommodate our schedule) and 3. professionalism (Mike was no-nonsense and did not try to upsell us on anything, which I appreciated). He clearly stood out from his competition and I also liked the fact that they were masons who specialized in stone work. On the morning that the project was to commence, the crew came exactly on time at 8:00 am and got right to work. During that week, we had freezing cold weather in the 30s and snow as well as several rainy days. The only day they could not work was when we had many inches of snow on the ground. I wasn't sure if the crew would arrive during those rainy days but they did. They worked very hard from early in the morning and even stayed later a few nights to make sure they were getting everything done. They were also very careful around the landscaping and left everything as they found it. They were done with the patio earlier than I expected, and it is beautiful. The patio ended up even larger than we expected, but Mike did not add on any charges. The quality of the workmanship is clear, and when we had our son's birthday party, we received a lot of comments on how great the patio looked. We wouldn't hesitate to contact Mike again for any future masonry work that we may need.

Mike Cadle, the owner, was extremely knowledgeable, prompt, and professional. He provided an estimate free of charge, explained what the work would entail, and gave me a rough timeline for completing the work. He also did an outstanding job matching the brick so that the difference between new and old is barely noticeable. The two-man crew that performed the work was punctual and professional; their work was fantastic and they cleaned up nicely afterward, even smoothing the dirt that they displaced while working in muddy conditions. Mike came after the job was completed to inspect the work before accepting payment.
Description of Work: Replaced two areas of a brick wall that had spalling brick by removing the grout and damaged bricks and replacing them. Also removed old grout and re-grouted the stones in the front patio.

Wow! From the first contact to the final clean up, Mike Cadle and his crew at Capitol Masonry were simply outstanding. Mike set an appointment with me and walked through the project. He offered suggestions and improvements to my original idea, worked with me to set a start date ( I had to coordinate with getting old iron railings removed), and was extremely flexible when the recent extreme cold weather delayed his other jobs - and getting to my job the very first day possible. Capitol was not the cheapest bid (hence the B, however, I got more than what I paid for), but their reputation proceeded them, especially their experience dealing with older houses and trickier situations (my house is a 1930s stone house where nothing is plumb or square). Mike has worked with his crew for something like 13 years or more and it absolutely shows. No worries about a contractor talking a good game when providing an estimate, and then being sadly disappointed when the crew is somewhat clueless. These guys knew their stuff, adjusted to issues on the fly, and were great about a homeowner being on site and asking questions etc. They were early to the site every day, polite, knowledgeable and went above and beyond in pointing out little things that could be done to improve the final result. They tore off the old flag stones, removed the underlying sand and gravel, relaid new mortar bed, laid new flag stones and custom fit the steps and sides. They returned the next day to grout the flagstones and begin the tuck pointing of the house. Removing the old mortar between the irregular stones is messy work, but they were fast, and they matched the old mortar color really well (its difficult, if not impossible to get a perfect match, but they came very, very closeand it will be indistinguishable after several months, if not sooner). They stayed late the second day, until dark, to finish the extensive tuck pointing job. The crew spotted some additonal work that needed doing, and pointed it out to me. I gave them okay and called Mike, leaving him a message that I authorized some work outside of the estimate and that he and I could work out the additional charges. I was unable to talk to Mike because of my work commitment, but when I returned to the site late in the day, the additonal work had been done and Mike was very fair regarding the cost of the additional work - and his crew performed it flawlessly. The crew returned the morning of the third day to remove their tools, trash out the old mortar and flagstones and left over materials and broom cleaned everywhere. Later that day they returned to acid wash the flagstone porch and pressure wash. They were meticulous about cleaning up, even gving my rear stone patio a quick and light extra pressure wash down - saving me from my regular spring chore. I've hired a lot of contractors in renovating five old houses over the years and have rarely been thoroughly impressed. MIke Cadle and all the guys at Capital Masonry thoroughly impressed me and I will be hiring Mike and his crew again in the near future for some concrete work .

Seemed nice enough...but he has a minimum for a job. Would've been nice if he could have recommended someone that would do the work. In construction, you know the competitors and often have your workers do small jobs on the side for extra money. Even better...you know who NOT to use, i.e., bad workmanship or dishonest. Either would also have been helpful.
Description of Work: I had wanted the company to repair a concrete step at the house. Mike called just after I left a message and told me that they don't do jobs < $1500. He was nice enough, but couldn't/didn't suggest someone that does the smaller jobs. I mentioned that he should consider putting in the $1500 minimum.

Mike Cadle and his team did an excellent job. We had brickwork in our Georgetown townhouse that was in disrepair. Mike came out for an estimate and we were very impressed with his professional approach. Work started and finished exactly on schedule and looks great. He wasn't the cheapest mason we spoke with, but definitely felt that we we received good value for the work performed.

Mike returned my phone call the same morning and came by for an estimate right away. A very professional and hard-working team turned up right on time about a week later to do the work. The workers were careful about nearby evergreen plants and locating the construction materials so that they would not leave any damage. They matched the brickwork perfectly and even replaced a couple of cracked bricks in a nearby walkway that was not included in the job. They power cleaned the old walk so that the whole project had a clean, precise like-new look. It actually looks better than new. They did a very good job of cleaning up after mixing the sand and concrete. Mike readily accepted a $100 Angie's List coupon. Were very pleased.
Description of Work: Capital Masonry repaired and replaced brickwork and re-attached a front step that had broken away from our front porch. They dug a two-foot trench the length of the porch. They set new footings and poured concrete for a proper foundation so that the bricks would not crumble away again.

The entire process was seamless. Mike Cadle arrived at our first appointment on time, was extremely professional, listened and gave excellent suggestions. He knows the business well. His team were prompt and experienced. No time was wasted and they knew what they were doing. They were very respectful of our existing landscaping and left everything tidy.Let me say, I love our new walkway and stoop. We have had several compliments already. The workmanship is everything we wanted and more.I greatly appreciate Capital Masonry, LLC, Mike and his team for making the front of our house look so lovely and would highly recommend them. In addition, we would call on them for other work.

Mike Cadle, the owner, was extremely easy to work with from the time of the estimate through the completion of the work. He and his staff do truly superior work - from design, to the actual laying of the stone and brick, to the cleanup afterwards. Mike's crew spent almost two weeks at my house on three separate projects, and when they left, my yard and landscape was in perfect condition. I have never worked with such a superior company in my entire life. The brick walkway was laid in concrete and there is not one brick that is out of place or not level. I have had several neighbors and friends comment that they have never seen such a beautiful walkway as the one that I have. Mike was even able to repair my front stoop, rather than replace it. I had thought it required replacement, but he said he could easily fix it and clean it up. He was right - it looks like new, even though it is 20 years old. The patio is made of irregular flagstone laid on concrete. The patio runs almost the length of my house, and Mike and his crew provided a nice serpentine design around the edges. My next door neighbor now wishes she had done her patio in concrete instead of sand, because of the work that Capital Masonry has done in my yard. The 8-inch stone wall around my landscaped bed in my front yard is made of cinder block, with a concrete base, then a stone is placed on the face and top to match the house. The wall runs along the shape of the bed. I really am pleased with the quality of the wall and compliments I have received on it. Although the total cost for the project appears high, taking each project individually, Capital Masonry's pricing is competitive. My front walkway was $5850.00, which included putting in the new walkway, taking out the old one, and repairing the front stoop. The 8-inch high wall, which runs from one side of my house up to the walkway, cost $4350.00. The lion's share of the cost was the flagstone patio, which cost $18,150. However, keep in mind that the patio is extremely large, and Mike was working around a fish pond that was in the middle of my patio. I would highly recommend Capital Masonry to anyone who is looking for this type of work. Prices are competitive, you won't be disappointed with the product, and you don't have to stay home while the work is being done to make sure it is done right. Mike and his staff are just that good. I will definitely use them again. Thank you Mike Cadle.
Description of Work: Capital Masonry designed and installed a brick walkway to my front entry, built an 8 inch high stone wall in to match the stone on my house around a landscaped bed in the front of my home, and constructed a flagstone patio around my sun porch in my backyard.

Very pleased. Mike Cadle returned my telephone call right away. He came out to the house within a few days at a time that was mutually agreeable to both of us. We walked around the house and told Mike what we wanted done. He took down notes, prepared an estimate, and gave us a price for the work. (We were able to use the coupon provided by Angie's list to reduce the price.) We scheduled to have the work performed in about two weeks. An opening came up and he called to see if we would like to do the work sooner, which was not a problem because no one needed to be at the house. The work was done on the day it was scheduled. It looks great! Mike and his crew were able to match the mortar to the color the house already had. All the cracks and crevasses that needed filling and fixing were taken care of. One brick needed to be repaired, and he replaced it with a match that looked just like the original. We have no complaints. Thanks Mike for doing such a great job!

Everything with Capital Masonry went very smoothly. Mike, the owner of Capital Masonry, was able to meet us for an estimate at a time convenient. I had contacted six different companies to come and provide a quote to get the work done. Mike was one of two companies that would actually do the repairs on my stairs along with the other finish work needed, all other companies wanted to rip everything out and start from scratch, which was NOT in my budget. Mike came in and did not think the stairs needed to be ripped out but suggested a repair, he also was open and willing to fix/finish the other stone work that my prior contractor had walked away from. Mike's crew was here on time and very professional. They kept me in the loop as they did the work and provided me with some esthetic options that I had not thought of - while they were doing the work. Overall, I could not have asked for a better company to come out and do my stone work repair. My patio area used to be an eye sore when I walked out my back door - but now I LOVE going out back and just revel at the professional work that was done - it looks AMAZING!!!

Mike was exceptionally responsive, punctual, professional and polite, as was his crew. I would have him back to do further work needed to replace my front walkway and do further concrete under the porch, as soon as I save up the $$$$$ for the work. I will admit I did not perform due diligence in getting 3 quotes, I went with a gut feeling and the excellent Angie's list reviews, and Mike gave me the price quote in advance, so this is completely on me, but it's close to $500 an hour for two (nice) guys to hand dig a trench, relocate all the dirt, pour the concrete nicely and replace all the gardening material (I am sure I am not describing this in the depth which it deserves, it's unintentional). He even had the dirt placed on a tree in my backyard to cover the exposed roots, super. I'd love to finish the front, but wow. Mike was nice enough to honor the Angie's list coupon (which I thought was $200 for a new project, but found out it was $100) for a $200 discount, even after the work was complete. I appreciate his professionalism in the face of my inexperience with the cost of masonry work. I am going to go have a margarita and ponder my poor choices in career options because molecular biology is definitely not as good as masonry, but at least I can do it on my porch without it cracking off the front of my house anymore.

Capital Masonry did a terrific job. Owner Mike Cadle provided an original estimate for the flagstone walk, but on the day this work was to be done noticed that the brick steps by our front door were in desperate need of repair. He proposed that his crew do that work, too, and all was accomplished by the end of the day. We are very happy with the end results and will certainly call on Capital Masonry in the future as the need arises.

The effort couldn't have gone better. Mike came out and made an estimate which was reasonable. Since the job was relatively small, I was told that they normally slotted it in between larger jobs and it would be completed in one to two weeks. I was called the day before the job was to be performed to insure that everything was ready and that they had access to water. The job was completed in one day and ready to walk on later on the next day. I couldn't be happier with the result.
