The results were horrible and the workmanship was completely unprofessional. They put the new fabric, which was a beautiful glazed chintz by Stark original cost $273/yard, right on top of the old material! The chair and sofa were my mother's - last upholstered in 1968 and 1978 respectively. Meaning, I got slipcovers, not re-upholstery, over really old material and stuffing! The written instructions were ignored - the chair was to have a skirt - it did not. Both the sofa and chair were to have new foam cushion material - neither has any new cushion/stuffing material. There was NO effort whatsoever to match the chintz pattern repeat. The seams do not match, not even close! The written estimate gave permission to use 30 yards of my fabric - they used -- or ruined 45 yards - out of my 50 yards. The result? There is not enough fabric left for curtains and another chair - as planned. Not only that, there is not enough left to re-do either the chair or sofa. And, despite numerous emails (6) and phone calls/VM (5) to Roxanne, the Haute Fabrics owner, to rectify the situation I have been totally ignored. To this day, I have had zero contact from anybody at Haute in any way. Fortunately, I paid by credit card and was able to successfully dispute the credit card charge. I provided photos and other information and got a total refund. Haute tried to stone-wall me. I recommend running away from Haute as fast as you possibly can!!
Description of Work: I engaged Haute Fabrics to re-upholster a chair, ottoman and sofa. There was a written estimate that specified exactly the work to be done, style of the re-upholstery, cushion and fill materials, matching of the fabric repeat as well as the price. I was required to pay 1/2 up front - $1,000.

So here is the take-away: Buy your discounted upholstery fabric and trim at Haute, but DO NOT take a chance entrusting custom work to Ms. Hill's so-called and quot;workrooms.and quot;
Description of Work: In the summer of 2011, Roxene Hill, owner of Haute Fabrics (who now has shops in Arlington and Marshall, Va.), sent her upholsterer pick up two valuable mid-century modern chairs. The more valuable piece, a swivel tub chair by Vladimir Kagan is still missing, two years later. After making a series of excuses in 2011 and 2012 (and refusing to tell me who had it so I could retrieve it myself) and then refusing to answer subsequent inquiries, I sued her in DC Small Claims Court, winning a $995 judgment against her in August, 2012, won a $995. Ms. Hill has yet to pay that judgment.
