About us
With over 15 years of experience, Wilson Lawn Care Services takes pride in providing high quality residential and commercial lawn care and landscaping services. We offer weekly, biweekly, and monthly cutting services. Contracts are not required, however most customers prefer them to paying as services are rendered. We would be happy to speak to you about both options during the estimating process!
I live on an acre lot and you can consider half of it is woods, house, and driveway. The rest is grass. What is unique about Wilson Lawn Care Services is that they will take the number of agreed cuts for the season, tally them up, and then give you month installments for 12 months. Since the mowing season is 6 months, monthly payments will not be as big. In Spring of 2018, Mr. Wilson came out to give me an estimate for “weekly” cuts and I accepted it. We agreed on a total of 24 cuts and signed a contract. Here’s my experience with this service. Issue #1 – The service started about the third week of April, and immediately right after the first cut I got the first monthly invoice. About a week or so later May rolled around and in came the second invoice! I emailed asking why are the invoices coming in so fast, and the answer was that they invoice customers in the beginning of the month and since you joined in the middle of the April, he had to invoice me right away (for the full amount!). What I did not like about April’s invoice is that it was not prorated for the 1-2 cuts I will get. I got an invoice for the entire month of April! I paid April and May like 1-2 week apart and only 2 cuts into it. Issue #2 – I paid for weekly cuts so I was expecting my lawn to be cut 4 times a month. There was not a single month where I got 4 cuts. It appears that their week is planned out to cut certain regions of the county on certain days and if your day gets rained out, you will not be serviced until the following week. No attempt to make up the cut on another day of the week. Then came the question of making up missed cuts because we are paying for that, right?! Their solution to making up missed cuts is to cut the lawn TWICE on a single visit. It took me a while to understand this explanation, but he seems convinced this is legit and good business. So, I am paying him double to cut my lawn twice in a single visit to make up for missed cuts. Issue #3 – I noticed when they showed up, they would service the lawn at lightning speed. I was cool with that in the beginning then I started noticing missed spots, missed edging, and gobs and gobs of clippings left on the grass. I am well aware that the agreement is not to pick up the grass clippings and I’m good with that, but we did agree they will blow it so it’s not in piles left on the grass. Blowing the grass clippings was done only to the front of the house. Gobs of grass clippings create dead spots no matter where they are mind you… Issue #4 – Late in June, they missed a cut and by now I am used to the unreliability and irregular schedule they run (some of it has to do with the rain). I did not say much. Then again, another missed cut in a row in the beginning of July so that puts us out about 2-3 weeks without a cut. So I emailed Mr. Wilson asking him why he is not servicing the lawn, and his answer was that for the next 2 months the service is bi-weekly (every 2 weeks). I had no idea this bi-weekly thing is in play, but we are here whether I like it or not. I am paying for weekly cuts for an entire season (agreed on 24 weeks). I missed most of April, we missed a cut in May, missed a cut in June, and now we are on bi-weekly schedule. I already feel like I am paying for something I am not getting. By my records, here are the cuts I got for a weekly schedule: • April - Started after the middle of the month yet billed for entire month (max 2 cuts) • May - Somewhat consistent, when rained out, did not attempt to make up (3 cuts) • June - Somewhat consistent, when rained out, did not attempt to make up (3 cuts) • July - Bi-weekly schedule (2 cuts) • August - Bi-weekly schedule (3 cuts) • September - Supposed to go to weekly, but continued bi-weekly (2 cuts) • October - Not even bi-weekly anymore (1 cuts) • November - Nothing That totals 16 cuts. I paid for 24! You do the math… Aside from the haphazard cuts, no shows, and the use odd tactics like cutting your lawn twice in one day to make up for missed cuts, I am paying for a third of the cuts I am NOT getting. I am a righteous person and not looking to get anything for free, but I take a serious issue when I’m getting bamboozled like that. I have talked to Mr. Wilson on several occasions to express my dissatisfaction, but his response is that we have some 150 customers and no one is complaining. Then he went on to say that he is communication with his customers, AND because he is communicating with his customers these anomalies should be OK. I realized that when you are on a contract basis with them, you are at the bottom of the priority list. Perhaps they just saw no value in a 1 acre home on a monthly plan. You can decide for yourself, however, if you do use his service, I do recommend you pay as you go and NOT do the contract…

Everything is beyond expectation, like clockwork on time! They work very fast with the right equipment for our yard. I used to worry if the rain would delay the lawn maintenance, but Wilson Lawn Care is very proactive of all weather conditions, so I don't even think about this any more. Every week our lawn is perfect, simple as that!
Description of Work: We needed mowing, leaf removal and fall and spring fertilizing.
