We recently had Virginia Top Floors refinish our wood floors. We are extremely pleased with the results. Their pricing was very competitive, the quality of work excellent and their attention to detail unmatched. We were able to remain in our home during the work which started and finished on schedule. We would work with them again without any hesitation and highly recommend them to others.

We are very happy with our new hardwood floors, stairs, and railings. Ileana and team were professional and attentive to our family's needs. The carpenters took time to explain how they were going to install everything properly and securely. They patiently worked around us as we were moving into the house. They are a family business and they have high standards for their work, while remaining reasonably priced.

I found Virginia Top Floors while researching companies that specializes in staircase remodeling and from the first communication with Ileana and her husband Jose, to the completion of installation with her team (Javier, Edwin and Junior) their service has been nothing short of AMAZING!!! The process to receive a quote was very easy (email pictures of the work area) and Ileana was prompt and efficient in getting back to us with an itemize breakdown, of labor, materials, transportation and installation. This was so easy, as the breakdown give clients an opportunity to see exactly what the cost entails, and other than choices for personal finishes requested, the quote was very reasonable. Once our materials were ordered and received by Ileana and her Team, she provided pictures of the stained threads before installation, which brought piece of mind that the product is exactly as requested. On the day of installation, Ileana's Team arrived promptly. They carried out their job in a very efficient and timely manner, with no interruption to our household (both my husband and I work from home). At the conclusion of their work day, they explained the remaining work, and where they would start the next day. The project was estimated to be completed within 2-3 days and by 5pm on the 3rd day, the project with complete. Jose was so friendly and personable, giving us tips on how best to care for our new install. We are so happy with the work done by Ileana, Jose and their Team of professionals at Virginia Top Floors, that we already are looking forward to our next project of refinishing our hardwood floors!!! I am significantly behind in providing a review for work done by this vendor. I hope I did not cause others to have a similar experience. I hired Virginia Top Floors to sand and stain @ 500 square ft. of floor. My project was done in the late November/December time frame of 2021. My initial dealings with Ileana were very good. She arrived at the scheduled time and provided a well written and understandable estimate. On the day work was scheduled, her crew arrived on time and seemed professional. The work progress seemed very reasonable; she had a two-person crew come out. The main worker (Craftsman) seemed to know what he was doing and ran the sander for the majority of the job. What I cannot understand and was concerning is why the helper took over using the drum sander in an area where there are multiple corners and short runs. Unfortunately, my concerns became reality. After the workers finished sanding and applied the stain – they looked like they were going to just leave. I asked why the floor looked uneven and was told it had to dry. The next day Ileana asked how it looked and I told her she really needs to come out and check. The hallway portion of the job was horrible. It looked like the sander dug into the wood at uneven angles all over the hall way. Ileana was there for not even 5 minutes before she acknowledged they needed to come back out and fix the floor. The Senior worker came out the following Saturday and worked the majority of the day trying to hand sand the wavering floor. He might as well have sanded the moon’s surface. Now the floor looked like it had dunes on it with the tops flattened. Again I asked why it still looked so rough and once again was told it was wet. The next day when I questioned Ileana about this, she kept indicating that you can only sand it one more time and it’s as good as it will get. I decided to wait and address this again after the holidays (big mistake). The result of Virginia Top Floors work on my hallway is infuriating, a dismal example of shotty workmanship. I was not surprised that she did not ask for a review, at that time. After the holidays, I received an email from Virginia Top Floors asking for a review. Here is the email string. We are very happy with 90% of the work. The 10% leaves me frustrated and aggravated EVERY morning. When I enter the hallway (which you tried to fix), I see a floor which is nowhere near flat. There are ripples or what would look like "dunes" with the high points attempted to be sanded down. Unfortunately, as the floor dried this ripple effect became extremely noticeable. I truly wish I had waited a while before accepting the job. I am not sure if anything can be done or would be done but that 10% truly stops me from writing the review I would like to. I'm so sad to learn this as it has been a few months since the completion of the work and any new correction will end up with a color and finish difference that will not match the existing floors. Sincerely, Ileana What upsets me the most, is these people are supposedly professionals. They come in and try to correct the damage their helper did to my floor with dismal results. These people knew exactly how bad my floor was even after trying to correct it, yet they let it be. My review for Virginia Top Floors is basically “buyer beware”. They were pleasant to deal with and did a decent job on the straight forward sanding and staining. They did come out to try and fix the significant blunder of the helper but the simple fact that they had to know how bad the floor was and is – it’s inexcusable and a lasting legacy to the quality of the work performed.

Honest People!!! They actually came to my home to conduct an estimate for me. They were very thorough and informed me that my floors did not require any maintenance. They explained why the floors did not need maintenance and what I could do myself to save on cost. WHAT COMPANY DOES THAT IN NORTHERN VIRGINIA?????? FABULOUSLY! This is an amazing husband/wife company that exemplifies integrity, superb craftsmanship, and a passion for what they do at a very fair price. Many companies came for estimates to hardwood stairs only to say it would be extremely pricey and best to recarpet them. Not Virginia Top Floors! Pliers came out to look under the carpet....to find hardwood already! They did a superb job refinishing existing wood and laying down the new. Look no further! You will be blessed!

My floors look new again! I am so grateful that I chose Virginia Top Floors to buff out our hardwood floors. We have a large dog who had done some damage as well as someone who used sticky cleaning solution on our hardwoods. Ileana came out and gave a very thorough inspection of our floors. She was honest and told us that she thought the buffing would get the desired outcome. The buffing is less expensive than the sanding so I was very appreciative of her honesty and the fact that is saved us money. The work they did was absolutely meticulous. After the buffing and before the final coat of seal was put on, each board was examined and touched up. We were informed of all the steps along the way, educated on the best way to maintain and care for the floors from here on out. Our floors look amazing! We were very impressed with the care and thoroughness of Virginia Top Floors! They were professional, honest and obviously take great pride in their work. Everything was done in a timely manner and our floors were beautiful for out Thanksgiving holiday! I highly recommend this company!

The process was excellent. The quote was provided in a timely way, and the owner walked me through each stage of the process. I knew exactly what I needed to to do prep the bedrooms for the work (moving furniture) and what they would do on my behalf. The team arrived on time the first day and asked questions. The introduction took not more than 10 minutes. The team then worked throughout the week. I was on vacation for part of the time, so they sent me pictures at each stage to include when they weren't sure that the age of the floors and the wear would result in a completely uniform stain color. They replaced boards and laid the toe molding. By the time I was back at my house, it was BEAUTIFUL. The stairs, the new trim, and the floors were done perfectly. I have had many compliments about just how nice they look. And the process was extremely clean and dust free. I would highly recommend Virginia Top Floors (and already have). The price point and the professionalism was exceptional.

The overall experience with Virginia Top Floors was great, they have my highest recommendation. Our floors where approximately 50+ years old and they made them look brand new. The Owners and their Worker took pride in their jobs and did everything right from start to finish. Awesome experience with VA Top Floors - Ileana and Jose are a dream team to work with! First time homeowners, we moved into a house that was primarily hardwood - didn't know if we should do anything with them before we bought furniture, so called a few companies to look at the floors and advise. Ileana came out within two days and advised that the floors could go with a "buff and recoat" saving half the cost of a full sand and refinish... very honest! The former owners had given me some mixed messages on what they had cleaned the floors with, so I was concerned about the buff and recoat working and expressed this to Ileana. She was always really prompt with emailing and calling me back... and I was annoying. She and Jose personally came out to our house on their day off to do a sample spot to make sure everything would work - excellent customer service! We proceeded with the job and the work was done quickly and they did such a lovely job. Ileana is a "master colorist" and was even able to fill in some stain to worn areas of our floors and they look brand new. My husband and I literally cannot stop gushing about how amazing our floors look. And the best part is not only are our floors gorgeous, but VA Top Floors was such a pleasure to deal with through the entire process - no games or flakiness, unlike pretty much every other vendor out there. I completely trusted them in my home. Highly recommend!!

Virginia Top Floors does exceptional work. They are "Type A" when it comes to projects. From start to finish, they give you an itemized project proposal with exact costs. They give you an anticipated timeline and pencil you into a specific timeframe. Most floor refinishing teams will not move your furniture, paint where needed, and install handrails. This team does it ALL. Ileana and Jose showed me what great craftsman looks like. They did a two-fold project. One week they refinished the hardwood floors in our dining room and living room. Then, a few weeks later they came back and completed the full staircase remodel with upstairs landing in new stained hardwood. As Jose said it, "This place looks like a completely new home". I'm so glad we found Ileana and Jose. They are so keen on detail, very prompt, and just so genuine. I'm so happy we also made a friendship with them! I would only recommend VA Top Floors for anyone seeking to have their floors refinished, insert new wood floors, or get their staircase remodeled. For reference, the stain is Bona Cherry in the attached photos. Photos just showing staircase and upstairs new hardwood install --- this staircase used to have outdated metal railings with beige carpeting. Photos do not show the mid-level dining room and lower-level living room. They did a ton of work!

Ileona and Jose and their team were incredible. This could not have gone any better. Everyone was professional, personable and punctual. We were displaced for a week to give the team time and upon return the floors looked brand new. They paid a lot of time to the small details just to make the job perfect. They kept us updated with photos while the work was being done. I would highly recommend them to everyone.
