Description of Work: They showed up and did the most shabby work. For $425, they added one light switch to a panel (The wrong type, that didn't match the others) Repaired a softball sized hole in drywall (you can see the ridges from the tape through the drywall pastes, not smooth at all) and lastly, they set an internal door hinge, to stop it from scrapping the floor when opened. For $425, we got 3 small things done extremely poorly. They rejected every other items on our list and went for the easiest projects. Here's what you really need to know about this company, Make sure someone knowledgeable about repairs is there with them for quality control. They took advantage of my wife's lack of experience and I returned home to find the worst work I've ever seen in my 15 years of owning this home. Now I have to spend more time and money to fix what they repaired.

Description of Work: We had them build a shelf/pot rack over the stove, install crown molding in the foyer and above the stairs and in a small hall upstairs, remove a whole house fan and replace with drywall and some miscellaneous drywall patching. The shelf/pot rack is beautiful, the crown molding and fan replacement were well done but the drywall patching left a little to be desired. They came back out to fix it but seemed annoyed to be there and it didn't look much better. Getting good drywall work seems to be nearly impossible.

Description of Work: Two by Four sent out 1 person to do work on my Master Bathroom shower to repair poor quality performed last year by a non-Angies list contractor. Roger confirmed with me as he went along with the job to make sure things were to my satisfaction. Overall I am satisfied and happy with the work performed. The only negative is that the replaced tile in the shower floor is slightly higher than the original surrounding tile, resulting in a minor puddle that does not drain properly. Not enough to warrant the additional hassle of having the work done again. I even paid for additional work to be done beyond the original shower drain project - replacing the two hose bibs that were installed when the house was built with new ones.

Description of Work: Two by Four Construction removed and installed railing on upper deck and lower deck and steps, finished installing 5/4 boards where missing on deck. On room under the deck, they removed the outer and inside wall and part of side walls that had incurred substantial water damage between walls; installed new outer walls, insulation, and inside wall paneling, replaced windows, reinstalled the fascia at top wood to prevent leakage between inner and outer walls, installed a new gutter in front of room with downspout. Also, repaired drywall at corner of basement where there was water damage due to rain runoff. Gary Standard Snr. and Gary Jr. and his mate are punctual, polite, and personable. Gary Snr. has over 30 years of experience in construction so one feels quite comfortable with his advice. The room under the deck posed a much bigger problem than anticipated as there was awful water damage. However, the work was performed professionally, efficiently and well. I have no reservations in recommending Two by Four Construction very highly.

Description of Work: This company was amazing. The guys showed up earlier than expected, and literally started working as soon as they entered the house. They 1) painted a portion of a kitchen wall; 2) painted kitchen cabinets and put on new hardware; and 3) painted the exterior of formal front door. The finish on the front door looked like a factory finish. I would give this company 10 stars if I could. I will definitely use them again.

Description of Work: They performed miscellaneous handyman services - patched holes in the ceiling, installed a fan in the bathroom. They came the next day after a plumbing problem. They did a nice job and were very polite.

Description of Work: Fast, friendly, professional. Even looked at another issue in home out of curtiosy and gave advice.

Description of Work: We needed the master bed closet and spare bedroom closet made into one closet. We have a 1940's house, so lead paint laws were in effect. We knew there would be some construction "mess" so we provided plastic and tape to secure the area and prevent dust from getting everywhere. When my husband came home, there was no plastic hanging to isolate the mess, and there was a thick layer of dust on every surface, from the spare bedroom to the bathroom to the master bedroom. My husband had to wash all of our linens, and dust everything as I was on a business trip. The laborers said the tape wouldn't hold the plastic so they didn't put it up. My husband hung the plastic up that night with the tape he bought for the project and it stayed up all night and all the next day. The service was an Angie's List special, and it was $XX for XX hours. When they came in for the estimate they said they could indeed finish the job in the time allotted. When the hours were depleted, they said it would cost $XX to continue to finish the job. My husband and I did it our selves. My husband and I ripped out all the trim that needed ripped out so they wouldn't have to, and so that they knew what needed ripped out. We have old plaster walls, and didn't want them to accidentally ruin a wall because it is pretty easy. This way the onerous was on us. The next day, they ripped out trim that didn't need ripped out and it took out chunks of the plaster that we had to repair. We talked to the owner, and he did pay to have the house professionally cleaned after the mess. On the last day, the workers brought in a heavy duty hepa filter. It should have been used on day one. They did a nice job on the wood floor, though. Needless to say, I was a bit angry when speaking to them on day two after seeing the mess, and originally would not allow them back in my house. A new crew had been sent over, and they were much better than the first. For the price, headache and service, we could have completed the task ourselves. We were just time crunched with guests coming to stay the summer. It was still another Washington DC Angie's List horror story.

Description of Work: We used an Angies List deal for $350 for 00 sq feet of hardwood floor refinishing. Bob came on time at my convenience to scope the job, answered questions, and set up a date. The team did a good job on the floor and it looked SO much better. Bob's advice about the natural color of the wood was spot-on. Afterward, I had several questions an Bob patiently answered all of them to my satisfaction, including sending a team member back out to check on a blemish in the floor I asked about. I would definitely think of this company for other wood floor re-dos in our house.
