Went about as expected

I called to get an estimate on a stairwell that needed some drywall repair, some carpentry, and some painting. Gary said he would be out for an estimate the next day in the afternoon. Gary never showed up. I attempted to contact him multiple times following his no show, and he has yet to respond to me. I was very disappointed in his lack of professionalism and unresponsiveness. I wouldn't waste your time calling this guy if you are looking for a reliable handyman. If this is how he treats potential customers, I would hate to have some money invested on a job with this guy and have him do the same thing. Good luck!

I am an experienced Real Estate agent of almost 50 years. I only wish I had met Mr Stannard of Two By Four Construction years ago. We were preparing to put our home on the market to sell. Mr Stannard was very helpful in recommending cost saving methods . Mr Stannard devised a work plan that allowed his workers to be able to complete their jobs with as little intrusion into our lives as possible. The floors came out beautiful. I would be happy to recommend Mr. Stannard and Two By Four Construction to my personal clients as well as Aby one on Angie's List.

We are so happy that we found Two by Four. They are by far some of the most professional people we have dealt with. They still practice true customer service. We will use them them for many needs we will have in the future.

The room is awesome and far exceeded my expectations. Four by Four contractors did everything they said they would and,ore. Punctual, completed on time and cleaned up at completion of the job.

Good attention to detail on the finish work, and Luis clearly knows his stuff. A good problem solver when things are not obvious. I would ask for him again.

Gary Stannard came out to provide an estimate within two days. He asked detailed questions about what I needed and how I would use the space, and offered suggestions and options for multiple ways to meet my needs at different price points without pressure. Once he had a plan, he explained what would be involved, and fit me into the schedule within two weeks. They did a great job, and left everything neat and tidy.

I've used Two By Four once before to replace some rotting wood around my front door several years ago, so I didn't hesitate to contact them when there was similar work around my garage doors, and shed. Gary (Sr) came over to estimate the job, and it turned out I actually had enough on my "to-do" list to keep them busy for more than a full day. Once I purchased their Angie's List Special, scheduling was easy. Gary (Jr) came over with the two handymen to get them started on the outside carpentry work to replace the rotten wood, both on the doors, and the ramp to my shed. The ramp took a bit longer than anticipated, but they made sure it was well secured before having me come out for inspection. Since they used Trex instead of treated pine, I should get many more years out of it. The flooring repair in one of the bedrooms required a bit of coordination. There was a soft weak spot in the floor that required lifting up a section of the carpet to allow access to the sub-floor. I order to make sure the carpeting was handled correctly, they subbed out to a carpet repair guy whose purpose was to cut the existing seam, pull the carpet back to expose the sub-floor, then re-install the section of carpet once the floor was repaired. Again, just like with the ramp, both Gary and the carpet guy had me inspect the work before calling the job complete. I also found out, these guys can sand and refinish woods floors so I may have another job for them in the future.

Pre-service communication was fast and thorough. They arrived early, performed all work well, cleaned up after themselves, and were professional and respectful.

I was really happy with the quality and efficiency of the work. They are responsible and prompt. The final front door lock replacement had some problems. I emailed Gary and he sent someone out to fix it at no additional cost. That is the kind of responsible business I want to work on my house again. I would certainly recommend them to anyone. Here's what they did in 35hrs: removed and replaced two ceiling fans took down a french door and shimmed it so it hangs properly, installed weather proofing and caulked around base replaced the door lock and handles on the french doors replaced a kitchen faucet, two bathroom faucets and a shower head replaced two hall lights fixed a bi-fold closet door that was not working correctly installed a ceiling light and a new bathroom light fixture installed 2 shades replaced a toilet replaced silicon around shower door and caulked around master sink counter, caulked along baseboards in a bathroom replaced approximately 25 interior door knobs with new ones replaced 3 water valves in bathroom installed new towel racks installed a baseboard under sliding glass door and sealed it replaced interior hardware on the front door locks

Gary & his assistant made a couple of trips and spent two full days with all the work that needed to be done. They left the job in a good state, which I could finish; caulking, drywall finish & painting. They were willing to continue to work, but I like doing this kind of stuff and am retired. I have a basement project that I plan to use them on in the future. A real good small contractor for sure.

Great. Gary, Sr. came over to scope out what needed to be done several days before our scheduled start time. On the day scheduled to begin work, Gary, Jr. arrived a little bit after the guys who were doing the work (who got started right away on the drywall work). Gary Jr. and I figured out what needed to be purchased and once he had a list, off he went to purchase the doors and shelves, standards and brackets for the closet (which I, of course, purchased). The work was completed in two days -- and they did a great job! Terrific folks; I'd use them again in a heartbeat for any further work at my home.

The services were great. We got more than our money's worth for the $1500 deal for 36 hours of services.

They were unresponsive to my email. Very unprofessional. I guess the work was too much for them to handle!

We would highly recommend Gary and his team. They provided exceptional service in all respects. They were prompt, extremely professional, cleaned up completely all work areas and more than met our expectations with the work completed. They also went out of their way to make sure the jobs were done correctly. When the two by fours we had picked up for the deck project were not straight enough upon their inspection, Gary called and had his team pick up straight two by fours and bring them to the house. I also had picked up the wrong smoke detectors, and Gary went out of his way to have his team pick up the correct smoke detectors that could be wired into our home. The deck ceiling turned out beautifully and required great skill in all the cuts to properly angle the ceiling in the gazebo. All the other smaller projects were completed to our satisfaction. We were so pleased with the work, we have requested Two by Four Constrution to bid on a bigger remodeling project for our kitchen and master bathroom. Our old refrigerator, unfortunatley, died before the remodeling project could be started, and when we called Gary to see if he could spare two fellows to replace our refrigerator early to prevent spoilage, he immediately sent a crew out to our home. We feel very lucky that we found Two by Four Construction on Angie's List, and we will be using Gary and his team for all our future handyman and remodeling needs.

See "what did the provider do" for my comments. Will hire them again. Very happy with all of their work. They will be our family's "handymen" for years to come.

Gary and sons showed up on time, and was able to accommodate working weekends to allow us to not take much time off from work, a great bonus. They has assessed the material earlier during the estimate phase and came prepared to the job site. Gary worked with us to adjust the design when additional issues occurred. The basement door was especially a tricky job, requiring a new frame and some additional blockage on the base to prevent future rot form outside flooding. Two by Four construction team worked well together, with Gary Senior being there guiding and mentoring the workers with a very good attention to details and not taking short cuts (even when they were not aware of me be around observing them). The front door was an ADHOC task and was handled with the same attention to detail as the rest of the work. I thought Gary's prices were competitive and fair and compared their installation with prior installation from the 'home' stores and I can see the difference between a team that care about the work vice the team that wants to just get it done. Gary and his sons were very friendly, yet still focused on the job. After the project, Gary performed a walk through to identify the work done and to assure our satisfaction.

The crew was on time and did the work at a reasonable pace. They were friendly. They asked questions for clarification, made suggestions as needed and generally communicated well before and during the day the work was performed. The only reason I gave them a B for quality is that they did not fully test one of the ceiling fans they moved. If I had not done so, the mis-wiring I discovered would not have been noticed until they left and would have been a big hassle for one or both of us. Just a small attention to detail. That said, I would definitely recommend these guys overall and I would hire them again myself.

They were quite good. Very respectful. I liked them. They did the job I asked them to do. When the time was up they asked if I wanted them to proceed or wanted to stay later. The drywall took longer to drive since it was a nasty rainy day. I told him what I wanted to done and he was good about what we provide and what they provide.

They seemed competent and professional. However, the bid was ridiculously high, almost four times as much as somebody else. It seemed like they didn't really want to do it.

I saw Two by Four Construction on Angie's big deal email and jumped on the opportunity to have Gary and his team help me with a day of handyman's services. I have a pretty large house with more to-do's in any given week than I could possibly get to, so having Gary's help was a life-saver for me. I've had a list of repairs and small projects that included flushing my hot water heater to caulking the molding on both staircases - and Gary was able to finish everything in one day! Gary is so very professional! He showed up on time, walked through my 'to-do' list with me and then got straight to work! They finished all of my projects in one day! I will definitely use Two-by-Four Construction's services again.

Gary was fast in generating a competitive estimate of work, and scheduling the job. I would recommend him for future projects.

His name was Gary Stannard. He was amazingly prompt and gave an accurate estimate. He was very personable and very clean. He was good at communicating. The painting job was great and stellar. My husband and I usually do it but we hired somebody this time. I would absolutely use him again.

It went great. He showed up on time. Moved from project to project. Finished the job in one day and the cost was the same as the estimate.
