Up front contact and scoping of job was excellent. By every means, this is a great deal offered by Angie's List. Work was completed by professionals and in the time frame specified. Final product is a huge improvement and floor looks great. However, there are two places where there appears to be sections of the floor gouged out and it could be either from the sander or the natural knots in the wood. Unfortunately, one of them is in a high traffic area and visible which detracts from the overall look of the floor. We would have expected this to have been filled and effectively varnished.

From the moment I bought the coupon, Two by Four Construction contacted me almost immediately and found out the work I needed done. I spoke with Gary, I explained what I wanted done and he explained to me what I needed to have for the guys to do the work. This made the process much more efficient. The day the work was to be done Dale showed up right on time and I went over what I wanted done. He informed me I had picked up a wrong part and showed me what exactly I needed. While I ran to the store he got right to work on my main project. When I arrived back, RJ (I think, I'm bad with names) was there to start on the other projects. All the work was done to my satisfaction. The guys were awesome at answering any questions I had. I definitely got my moneys worth out that deal. I will be using Two by Four Construction again for whatever my next project is.

I purchased the Big Deal from Angie's List for $349 for 200 Square Feet of Hardwood Sanding and Refinishing on March 29, 2015. On March 31, 2015, Bob Anderson came to my home to look at the floors and to provide me with an estimate. Bob stated that I have 270 square feet of wood floors and that I needed all new shoe molding. I was charged an additional $265 for the additional square footage and the shoe molding. On April 7, 2015, Bob contacted me with the date they could begin the job, which was April 30, 2015. On April 28, 2015, I contacted Bob to verify that we were still on schedule to begin the work on April 30, 2015, and I asked him to arrive at 09:00am. On April 30, 2015, Bob McClary (sub-contractor for Bob Anderson) arrived at my home at 08:15am to begin the work. I was not at home, but arrived shortly thereafter. Since he arrived early, Bob McClary was kind enough to help me move the kitchen table and throw rugs so that he could begin sanding. He explained the refinishing process to me and gave me the "do's and dont's" regarding caring for the floors. He was able to complete the sanding and the application of one coat of urethane on that day. The next day, he installed the shoe molding and applied the second coat of urethane. Bob McClary told me that all of the shoe molding did not need to be replaced; thus, he merely sanded and refinished approximately 25 feet of the shoe molding without replacing it. Aside from that, the floors look beautiful!! Thanks Bob, Bob, and Gary...

Bob contacted me quickly after I sent an inquiry to Two by Four and then stayed in touch throughout the project. He is friendly, professional and seemed to really know his stuff. He was able to schedule me quickly and the floors look beautiful. I'm very happy we went with them.

We bought the coupon on Angieslist deal. We paid for the extra sqft on top of the coupon. The estimator was very professional and on time. He gave a good price for the additional area of floor. We wanted the wood to match what we had. He showed the sample and was close enough. Took a week to order the wood. On the installation day, the workers arrived on time early and started moving furniture etc. The wood they got with them was wrong. We called the guy we talked with and sorted out the issue. The worker waited an hour until the correct wood arrived and started working. He single handedly completed the whole job. He cleaned up and put back all the furniture by himself. The wood matched what we wanted but had more imperfections than what we had before. All the hammering and nailing on top loosened out basement recessed lighting which was not considered when working. Apart from these 2 things we are very happy with how it went.

He reviewed a plan with us, however it has been like pulling teeth to get an estimate which was supposed to be after three days and took ten days. We have had very little response from the company. Today he sent an email stating he couldn't make it to our appointment. He should have had the common courtesy to call instead of sending an email that I could have received at any time.

We worked with Bob Anderson for the estimate and contract. Luis and his team installed. Overall is was a good experience. I would recommend them to anyone. They were able to install Bruce hardwood throughout our home. It looks great. There are a few areas where I wish the reveals were less obvious, but I am happy with the outcome as a whole. They were quick and easy to work with. There was the need to have them come back out a fix a few small items - nothing major, and they were happy to do it. Weather caused this to take forever, and I did become a little irritated by having to reschedule 5 or 6 times, which is why I gave a B for responsiveness. The B for quality is because there are more short cuts than I thought there would be and the two or three areas where there boards are not quite flush. They are really only noticeable to someone who is scrutinizing the floor closely, and for the price I am 100% willing to live with it. The stairs look amazing. And the overall difference in the house is drastic. Thank you Bob, Luis, and team!

Great!! Very professional, did a GREAT job, showed up on time. Owner of company called to let us know if he was running late, also called to check in at the end of the day to see how things went. Would highly recommend this company!

Contractor patched dry wall, primed and painted the ceiling in several places. Left no mess. Arrived promptly as scheduled and spent the day doing the dry wall and additional small jobs. Excellent service, great work and definitely worth rehiring.

I purchased the $75 Ceiling Fan Installation Big Deal on March 30, 2015. Gary from Two by Four Construction responded the same day and explained that I might need an electrical box to support the weight of the fan, due to the age of my home. On March 31, 2015, I went out and purchased the electrical box, and I scheduled the installation for April 2, 2015, at 1pm. On April 2, 2015, the service technician called at 10am to advise he would be significantly delayed, and requested to reschedule. I told him that I had taken the day off from work and really needed it to be installed, no matter how late in the day. Two by Four then dispatched an alternate service technician to my home, who arrived at 2pm. I was surprised, as I was expecting someone much later. It worked out great! When Ronnie arrived, he was very polite, and he apologized for the 1 hour delay. I told him that I was just glad he showed up. He installed the ceiling fan electrical box and the ceiling fan without incident. I am very pleased. But I did not expect anything less from Two by Four, as I am a repeat customer. Thanks Gary!! :)

Everything went smoothly. Installation was done very fast and professionally. They also took away the trash after it is done.

The contractor was on-time, polite and trustworthy. He explained the issue first and what he was going to do to repair it and he also cleaned up behind himself. To date the fan is still working

The customer service was great however it took awhile for him to get us the estimate and so we ended up having to get the work completed elsewhere.

Went very well. Got a timely visit/estimate. Bob explained everything; price was very fair. Crew showed up on time and sanded/refinished the floor (two day process). The men went to great length to minimize dust. People who have visited since have all commented on the quality of the work. Highly recommend.

They arrived on time, accomplished all of the work and were pleasant. The quality of work was exceptional. I was very pleased and plan to use this company again.

We read the reviews on Angie's List and decided to use their services. The owner met with us and he surveyed our hardwood floors, took measurements and gave us the bottom line cost of the job. We were getting our hardwood floors stripped, stained and refinished and it took three days. Also, the owner was very responsive and returned phone calls in a timely manner. We were definitely impressed with the final product. We definitely will keep Two by Four Construction in mind if we have future home improvements. I strongly recommend this company to anyone who desires to get the hardwood floors refinished.

They removed and disposed of the old carpeting, and installed a hardwood floor.

The guy was nice and professional, but when he worked on the utility sink, he wasn't careful and caused a leak on a pipe next to it. He came immediately to stop the leak but the fix came a week later at our expense. Worse, when I asked him to cut a piece of drywall for our garage where the electrical outlet is, he cut the hole but not where the electrical outlet is. He put it up and ran out saying the time was up. I would use this company again for simple stuff like drywall, but I wouldn't use them for big stuff. Trust is important to be, and the fact that he screwed it up with small stuff like drywall and just ran off without saying a thing to me tells me I can't trust him with big stuff.

They came as scheduled on time and provided excellent service. The crew of 3 plastic wrapped the kitchen cabinets from ceiling to floor to protect from the dust. They sanded and then put the coat of oils down. Came back the following day on time and laid down the top coat. Our hardwood looked like new, we are very pleased and definitely recommend. We actually were so happy with the results that we are having them re-do our tile in our master bath. Not to forget after the crew left the manager came by within 20 minutes to check out the finished product himself, quality control. This action by the manager solidified our choice when using Two by Four Construction. Again, Excellent work and service!

I worked with Bob. He called us right away after we purchased the deal. He kept us informed of the status. There have been one or two delays based on the weather. I have had no problems with him keeping me informed. They were clean and nice. They worked steadily. I have had no problems at all.

The $349 floor refinish deal from Angie's list only includes the actual sanding and application of sealant. Turns out they can't do that without replacing the shoe molding and patching any gaps between the floor boards. My room was slightly larger than the 200 square feet of the deal: about 220 square feet. The estimated cost was $576. That is a $227 up-charge from the deal, about an additional 65%. I declined and will not be likely to consider future Angie's list deals. Just not worth my time to be upsold by a huge 65%.

On time, professional, quality work. I would absolutely use them again.

First let me say two guys (versus 1 man-hours) showed up so the time was 1/2 split between the two; and that I understood. The drywall guy Ken(name?), was very good at his job, he patched drywall, after opening the small hole in drywall, very well. He also fixed most (all but one-ran out of time) the marked/identified nail pops in the wall/ceiling area of the house. These nail pops were sanded and made paint ready. This was very nicely done. The other handyman hung the insulation in the basement and this took a lot longer than I had expected-he was not able to finish the task in the time allotted. I cleaned up after the insulation installer & there was itchy insulation everywhere; mainly because he ran out of time, but yet I had spent an entire day later trying to clean up the insulation from the install. I also had listed to install the telephone line that was already pulled to the location where(floor) the line was to be installed. It was done but because he ran late I was given options about continuing or paying extra fees to finish the job. This part was very stressful. Overall their work was good. To get a better rating on this review I would have expected them to do the following: 1. Come thru the door with protection on their shoes (prevent dirt/grime) like the other contractors I have used in the past. 2. Have 2 people hang the insulation and clean up afterwards, leaving no exposed insulation out. 3. Cover customers belongings or area where working. Company does good work yet the housekeeping task need improved upon. The owner was called about paying extra fees & it was taken care of after conversing about timeframe.

He was not able to fix the fan and told me to call Angie's List to get a refund.
