Looking for a company to work with on some major and minor house renovations and repairs, I found Two by Four Construction through a special on Angie?s list. I was contacted immediately and Gary came out to review my list of projects and discuss what could be completed and helped me develop a list of any other items needed for purchase before the renovations/repairs. Gary was incredibly helpful and positive and we set up a date for two weeks hence. Two members of Gary?s team, Ralph and Bethany, arrived promptly at 7:30 as scheduled; we reviewed the work to be done and they immediately laid drop clothes to cover the rug and tile areas for traffic. Their work style and manner were impeccable. Bethany, Tile Lady Extraordinaire, discussed the project before starting and made sure she knew exactly what I wanted. She was incredibly knowledgeable and had the best ideas to offer -- some of which we used in the project. Bethany tiled and grouted my kitchen backslash and replaced the electrical plates, smoothed out a rough patch of drywall at the backsplash site, and replaced the kitchen blinds. She was methodical and patient; her work was precise, neat and beautiful. I couldn?t have asked for more. The handymen replaced numerous light fixtures and water faucets, installed a vent cover, and repaired a storm door frame which had not closed or locked properly for several years. I was so pleased with the completed projects, the standard of the work, as well as the professional demeanor of Two by Four Construction?s employees. I will use them again in the future. Two by Four Construction has my appreciation and trust. Hats off to Gary and staff!

Everything went very well. I liked the promptness of the company in response to when I purchased the deal and when the service call was scheduled. I called on a Wednesday and they were ready to come on Friday. The job was straightforward and there were no complications. New fan was installed where existing ceiling fan was, so the electrical box was already there. The entire job took about 1 hour.

The first guy was extremely late. Then he went to Home Depot and took a long time to return. When he did return he said he had to leave for a family emergency. Other guys came and did all they could in the four hours we paid for. We paid an extra fee and they came back the next day and finished everything we wanted done.

The provider contacted me the same day I purchased the deal and got me on the schedule. Although I didn't have the services completed until a couple of weeks later, that was my choice not his as he was ready to schedule me immediately. On the day of services, Dale arrived on time ready to start working. He had a very positive upbeat personality and was there to help me with whatever I needed. I had, what I thought was a pretty agressive list but Dale kept completing things with lightning fast speed. His work was impeccable. He cleaned up afterwards and came to me each time to see what else he could do. In an 8 hour day, Dale hung two ceiling fans, replaced two outdoor motion lights, installed a new over the range microwave (the hardest part was uninstalling the old one), hung a large very heavy mirror, replaced closet hardware, replaced all kitchen cabinet hardware and removed a border in the kitchen. I still had a little time left over but I wasn't prepared with any other tasks for him to do. I definitely got my moneys worth out of Dale. I can't believe how efficient and professional he was. Dale spent the last part of the day taking measurements and pictures and discussing future work that I would like to have them complete. I can't wait for the next project. Thank you Dale, you are a true asset to your company!

Gary Stannard, the owner, has been great to deal with. He promptly returns calls and emails. Pricing is very fair. I bought a Big Deal for 8 hours of handyman work and provided Gary with a list in advance. This visit was so-so. Two men arrived to work 4 hours, though one was 30 minutes late. They dug out a broken outdoor lamp and lamp post and installed a new one with concrete. They did a good job. The job was more difficult that anticipated. I also asked them to replace three outdoor light fixtures. Upon removing one of the old fixtures, they discovered that it was improperly attached to the siding and had to go to Home Depot to get replacement electrical boxes. One man ruined one of the siding mounts for the light and cut into the siding, so it could not be reused. I was disappointed that he was not more careful. He purchased some new mounts, but he did not have time to complete the work, so they left me with two missing front lights. I don't fault them for the problems they encountered, but I wish the one man had been more careful in removing the light fixture so as not to ruin the siding and mounting block. Gary provided me with a fair estimate to replace the mounting blocks and install the three lights, and I plan to use 2x4 for this. They also reinforced the basement stairs, where there were some popped nails, and troubleshot an electrical outlet that wasn't working. While I was a little disappointed they did not get to my entire list, they did a good job. Unfortunately, they left 30 minutes early as none of my other projects could be completed within the allocated time. I wish they had spent this time cleaning the concrete bits from around the lamp post. Had I not had a Big Deal, I probably would have been upset, but I felt $300 was fair for the amount of work they did. Based on this, I hired them again. I liked them and thought this was just a fluke. On another visit, another man replaced two ceiling fans. He was quiet and efficient. He did a great job. Gary also sent two men to give an estimate for a bathroom renovation and hardwood floor installation. Both men were professional. Bob, the floor man, is very responsive. The quote for the floor was competitive, and I plan to use them for the flooring project. I will update this review (and hopefully change everything to an A) when the other work is complete. It's been my fault that it hasn't been completed yet. Gary has been great about staying in contact with me.

2X4 came when they said they would and performed the services we had contracted for. The floor had been badly scratched and faded and now looks almost new. We are very pleased with the work.

Kenny arrived on time and immediately began work. He was professional and pleasant. He conducted all the work brilliantly and was finished in no time. Plus, all this work was completed for only $200. I was so impressed by Two by Four's quality work, I requested Kenny come back to replace another ceiling fan and install a water spigot in the back of the house. He did that earlier this week and again, the work was extremely affordable, and I'm happy to have a reliable, professional company to call on when I need work done around the house. I highly recommend Two by Four Construction! A+++++ OUTSTANDING!

We met with Gary, who showed up on time and well-prepared. He looked at our third floor master bathroom, took notes, and gave us a detailed, itemized quote to estimate the costs of a full gut renovation. After meeting with three contractors, we ended up going with a different company. The company we chose had their own showroom where we could get the stone slab pieces at a discount, achieving a more high-end look without the cost. However, it's worth noting that Two by Four had the lowest quote, overall. Gary was professional, clearly experienced, and was responsive to our phone calls and emails. I'd certainly recommend.

The refinishing technician, Carlos, was extremely courteous, professional and responsive. The work was started on time but there was a slight delay installing all the shoe molding because he had to get more material. My floors are old and were mistreated and stained before I bought the house, but he did such a good job that they look better now than I expected.

Ralph worked in the hot sun/heat replacing the deck boards; went out of his way Ralph also finished the closet Ken worked in painting all that needed to be painted Both were professional and very helpful Kenny was in and out with replacing the lights

Dale, who was the installer, is an excellent technician. He arrived at my on time, disconnected the old ceiling fan and installed the new fan to the specifications that it called for. When the installation was completed, Dale checked it out to assure that it operated properly and cleaned up the work area. He did not mind that I observed his work and he was conversationally friendly. I would definitely him to my neighbors for this service.

There was a little bit of confusion initially regarding sending the right person for the job, but it everything worked out. Dale was great and we're quite happy with the service.

Excellent job. The company's representative was very punctual and the work he promised was delivered. The technicians striped the floor, thoroughly vacuum the floor, and applied a coat of wax to the floor. They return the next day and repeated the process but applied twice to three time the amount of wax to the floor. The floor looks likes clear glass and everyone that has seen the floor has commented on the quality of the work performed. They also ask for the contact information of the company that performed the work which I have gladly provided.

They did a great job - very responsive after the technician experienced an issue when installing the second fan. A second technician came and discovered it was a broken wire and resolved the issue quickly.

I purchased the $75.00 ceiling fan installation on Monday, next day they scheduled the job for the following day. Overall I am very please with their service. Associate was a little late but is understandable in this area. He did his job in a timely and professional manner. My fan works well an area where he worked was cleaned up. I will call them again in the future as they were dependable, courteous and easy to do business with.

Two men arrived and worked for 4 hours. They accomplished relatively little compared to what I would have expected given the time.

Carlos was the nicest gentleman and did a beautiful job. He was very respectful and cleaned up after he finished. If Carlos is a representative of the service employees this company has on staff - you have a winner.

The work that was done is not correct. Neither toilet flushes. I have called every day, including the day they were here, about coming back to fix the toilet. Even a single square of toilet paper won't flush. They will not return my calls at all. The faucet they installed wasn't installed properly either. I paid for a full day of handyman service and did not get quality work in return. One of the handyman that was on site (total of 2 men) was not working for the full time, he was outside talking on his phone and smoking for a large chunk of time. They finally called me back after leaving my initial review and said they'd come out at 2pm. They called me at 11 that morning and said they had arrived. He got mad that I wasn't home, even though the appointment wasn't until 2 that day. He tried to insinuate the toilets in my house never worked to begin with. He was just really nasty and very rude. I called one of the managers and told them what happened. When the manager came out, he brought the same guy with him. I was not comfortable having him at my house. Then the manager got nasty with me, and explained that everyone in my neighborhood is rude. I felt like he was trying to intimidate me, and say what ever he wanted. All they needed to do was fix the toilets and leave. They did end fixing the two toilet tanks, but not before putting me through a lot to get it finished.

I hired Two by Four Construction because during the initial consultation, Gary made me feel comfortable that his crew would have no problem painting my deck using Behr Deckover and it would look great for years. The project schedule was two days. The first day, the crew of 2 removed 6 deck boards and replaced them and then cleaned the deck. During this process, one of the crew members damaged an adjacent board when prying up the old board. To the credit of Gary, he had his crew replace the damaged board at no additional cost on the second day. Also, I was expecting more of the old paint that was on the deck to be removed because Behr recommended stripping the old paint from the deck. Since these guys have done this before, I assumed it would be fine to paint over the old paint as long as the deck was clean. On the second day, the crew of 3 arrived on time. However, it took them about two hours to replace the damaged deck board and prep the deck for paint. Because of this it delayed the start time of the first coat of paint. Then there was another delay when there appeared to be a disagreement between 2 of the crew members and one of them walked off the job. So the crew of 3 was down to 2. I started to become concerned about the timeline when by lunch time, only half of the deck railing was painted. Again, Behr recommends 4 to 6 hours between coats and the first coat was no where near close to being finished. The first coat was completed probably sometime around 5 pm. The first coat would have probably been finished earlier if the crew was larger. Two additional crew members were sent out later in the day but by then it was probably too late. When the first coat was finished the crew immediately started on the second coat. Rather than wait the recommended 4-6 hours to dry, they only waited until it was dry to touch. The second coat was completed by 7 pm. Because the crew finished late, they very much rushed the second coat. I currently have many areas on my deck railings and stairs where the old blue paint still shows through even after Gary sent a crew member out to touch up spots that were missed on the railing. I was very disappointed however when the crew member who came out to the touch ups didn't let me know they had arrived and didn't let me know they were done so, I had no opportunity to review the work to ensure all the touch ups were completed to my satisfaction. Overall I would say the job got done satisfactorily but there is major room for improvement when it comes to quality of work and professionalism between the crew and the client.

This contractor went out of his way very late on a monday to visit my home and provide his expertise in explaining that my home met with currrent code and explained why. Further he is deliverying to me a written report with his license number for me to deliver to the buyer of my house. A++++service.

I bought the handyman for a day for $425 deal. The handyman was scheduled to be here at 7:30a.m. and he was in the driveway at 7:25a.m. (that's when I noticed so he might have been here earlier). We went through a list of everything I wanted done, and he got all but one thing done. The one thing turned out to be a job that will require more time and materials then we had, so I'm asking for a separate quote for it. Many of the items were inspection issues with my newly bought house and I feel much better knowing that pretty much all of them are done. Would recommend and will use again.
