Ceramic Tile, Title Companies, Hardwood Flooring Sales and Installation
About us
T.A.C. Ceramic Tile Co., owned by Tom Callaway, has been in operation since 1984. We specialize in tile and flooring installation for new home construction and light commercial construction. We work directly with national, regional, and local builders. We welcome retail clients by appointment only.
We bought a house from Pulte and TAC did the carpet. The carpet started showing wrinkling under 3 years and TAC provided nothing but a 'Oh, I don't know what can be done'. The manufacturer advised that their carpets have 10 year warranties but this is an installation issue. I expect TAC to stand behind their workmanship and fix the problem. If you are considering TAC for carpeting I would highly suggest you look elsewhere unless you enjoy the headache
Description of Work: TAC had initially installed SHAW carpet as part of a new build in Potomac Yards, Alexandria

Description of Work: The sales rep was fantastic! Very help. Although they have a small sales location Jessup, it provided us the ability to make all the choices we wanted.

After a number of months there was a place where the grout came out and they promptly came and fixed it. It was just a really good experience.
Description of Work: I've used TAC Tiles. I have a basement bathroom that had a plastic ream and they removed it and put up a tall ream.

TAC Tile did an excellent job of installing some very high quality porcelain tiles. Fit and Finish and Tolerances were excellent. TAC tile employs highly skilled people and their worksmanship is excellent. TAC Tile is not cheap but they are worth every penny. We strongly recommend them for installing porcelain and marble.
Description of Work: We did a whole house remodel. We built a brand new master bathroom and powder room. We retiled our existing bathroom. We had TAC Tile install porcelain tiles that we purchased from Porcelanosa (great place for porcelain tiles and the showroom is in Rockville MD and ask for Maria Borrero).

From the beginning, we noticed numerous issues with the tile work in the master bathroom and the hardwood flooring. It is incredibly discouraging to spend a large amount of money and get a bad product in the return and bad ongoing service for the product. Bathroom tile: There were countless gaps in the grout where it appeared water could get through over time. Also, several cracks began to appear in certain areas within 30 day of moving in. Some cracking may be normal but spotty workmanship in leaving gaps in between tiles is not. The quality of the work from the beginning was below-average. Sloppy grouting in many highly visible areas and a disregard, it appeared, for a quality finish. After pointing out these issues to the builder, a TAC installer was setup to repair the grout in the various places and fill in the gaps. The repair work was simply acceptable at best, not exceptional and the installer was rushing to have us sign off on the repair before we had to chance to examine everything. Due to this rushed feeling, the installer missed more areas of cracked grout after claiming he examined the entire bathroom. These newly found cracked areas will again have to be addressed in the very near future. I wish I could post a picture with this review to illustrate the way TAC installs grout and the and quot;final productand quot; they think is quality. Hardwood: The hardwood floors look as if they were not done by professionals. There were several pieces with large splinters and cracking along the edges with a few pieces that had large highly noticeable cracks in the finish where the board was splitting. The bad cracking is likely caused by inexperienced or hurried installers The installers clearly did not know how to work with the particular flooring as it was clear from the beginning that they installed it wrong. Fast-forward to our complaints about these issues and getting TAC to come back in and address them. The TAC representative for the hardware flooring was friendly and somewhat apologetic. He admitted the floor was installed wrong and marked several boards that needed replacement. We also complained about the general look of the floor after it was badly cleaned from the beginning. The gaps all had white dust in between them. The TAC rep said the installer would come back, replace the bad boards, touch up and clean the entire floor. Still, there was little sense of a serious apologetic tone for this which was upsetting to say the least. We are the customers being inconvenienced. The TAC installer who came to repair the hardwood was somewhat friendly but fairly unprofessional in taking a personal phone call in the middle of trying to show us some things about the floor. He talked on his phone for at least 15 minutes loudly in our living room while he began to work. It was very unprofessional and he seemed to think nothing of it. Meanwhile, we are the ones wasting time having something repaired that should have been done right the first time. The repair work corrected probably 65% of our concerns but the installer did not clean the entire floor as he was supposed to nor did he address some of the questionable boards we showed him. Furthermore, after he left, we found two more cracked boards which were either missed by the installer, the rep or were caused by the installer's repair. These will have to be addressed in the future at some point but it feels like a never-ending battle to get them to finish the floor properly. Bottom Line: Having a lot of experience with TAC, I would avoid them like the plague. Their work is below-average and their atittude is that it is and quot;good enoughand quot; despite spending thousands of dollars for brand new work. Their installers, from the 2 separate installers we encountered, were not professional by most standards. They did not take time to examine something they were there to fix because their company screwed it up the first time. They had a chance at redemption and totally blew it. All-in-all, they are a below-average company which probably gets by as a builder sub-contractor but probably wouldn't survive without the builder gravy train. If your builder uses TAC, show them these reviews and demand a better sub-contractor for this work or you will likely be very disappointed with the end result.
Description of Work: TAC was the subcontractor used by our builder to install tile in the bathroom and kitchen. In addition, they also installed hardwood flooring in a portion of our home as well. All services were options through the builder.

We had new windows installed in our master bath which started a chain of events. I did the demo of the tile around the tub to do the windows, and then did the tear out of the shower walls and floors. TAC has a beautiful showroom off of Wellington Rd (Euclid address is not correct.) Jamie and others in the shop were most helpful in out multiple trips to select tile samples for preview at home. There are so many types and styles/colors, it was very very hard to select just one. Brian Snider came out and did the field survey and we discussed the options for what we could do, and TAC provided an estimate promptly. We selected what we wanted done, signed the contract and placed a deposit and the Italian tile was ordered. TAC arranged for a plumber (Steve Keaton Pluming, also excellent) to come in and install 2 new water shutoff valves to the soaker tub and replumb for the new fixtrures in the shower. Dave and Ernesto came and did the actual installation, and they were masters! We went with a 2and quot; square floor tile, and 13x13s for the walls, going all the way to the crown molding at the ceiling. Another person came out and did all the caulking after the grout was set up, and Steve came back and installed the trim kits for the fixtures and tested everthing. Brian came out while the work was underway and made sure that we were happy with everything. The work could not have been more professsional or beautiful. It's a true masterpiece. We will definitely use TAC for the next bathroom tile project we have planned. Note: when we started to look for tile contractors, we noted that TAC only had a couple of reviews on Angies List. We're not sure why and told TAC they should check into this. We are extremely happy, and believe that as big as they are in the local market, that there should be many more reviews.
Description of Work: Installation of porcelain wall and floor tile in a walk in shower and around the side, deck, and walls on a soaker tub. Installation (subcontractor) of new plumbing fixtures for both.

Workmanship was spotty from the beginning requiring grout touch-ups after pre-settlement inspection. They slapped on caulk to cover up their mistakes. Fast forward 6 months later to notice severe grout cracking and crumbling. The result? A leak into my 5 month old brand new kitchen. The entire house is brand new, not just the kitchen. Builder has them come out to repair the issue....which takes them 3 weeks and appears all they did was finder in grout over 1 particular area ignoring the rest of the shower and it's obvious issues. My builder wants them to come out and repair it again. Fat chance I'm going to let them into my home again. Amateur installers with the professionalism of high school drop-outs. If your builder uses these folks BEWARE!!!
Description of Work: T.A.C was the subcontractor that installed tile and showers/bathtubs in my home for a new home under construction.
