After searching for the right stone type and color for our new home construction project, and going to several stone centers in the area, we decided to go with Manassas Stone Center.  The company has a wide selection of stone, engineered and natural and their staff is always knowledgeable in their products. The company has been extremely flexible and very helpful in not only helping us find the right color and type of stone, but also in ordering and delivering any additional items such as window trim, or additional stone (as we added more areas to apply stone).  We usually work direct with Mike (who has even taken our request while on vacation), but we've also worked with others there that have always been very helpful.

Perfectly, as planned. Material is high quality, delivery was exactly on time. I think they were a little generous with the quantity delivered. Very accommodating to our naive questions and delivery location.

On time, what we ordered, very pleasant. Very happy.

They were quick and responsive.

The product was very good that they put on the house. They did the work and we got the stone from them. The selection was very good and the people there were very helpful as far as helping us pick the stone.

1. Stone for patio is peeling. Very thin layers peel away with rain, sweeping, leaf blowing or normal walking. It looks blotchy with big uneven spots and is very unattractive. The shards of stone are sharp and can cut feet. I was told this was normal for a natural product. That may be, but who would want a product on their patio that looks blotchy and cuts barefeet?
2. The grout provided is dry and sandy in spots which washes away with sweeping or rain. In other spots it is bubbly and soft. Bags of grout labeled with the same color are NOT the same color. There are at least four different colors of grout which are labeled the same color. And only one is remotely close to the sample I was shown. Obviously, a poor quality product.
3. Peter Meister of The Stone Center came out to look at it. He said he had never seen this type of grout be different colors or different consistencies. He said he would contact manufacturer. I never heard from him again.
4. Landscape and Design Center refused to repair or replace the stone or the grout. Pam McGroaty, owner of Landscape and Design Center, offered a solution: either paint the grout or use tea to stain it. What unproven, cheap, ridiculous, hillbilly suggestions!
There are plenty of places to get stone and plenty of companies to install a patio. Do not take a chance on either of these companies!!!

Their service was prompt and on time. My husband had marked off the driveway in chalk with what and where the sand and gravel was to be put and the driver took the time to dump the sand and gravel in their appropriate places.

They were very helpful in assisting us with selecting all the materials. They had to order some of it, but the wait time was minimal. They contacted us when the materials were in and delivered it promptly. We had to order some additional material and they were always accommodating. The retaining wall looks great. We will be using them for the materials for the patio as well.

Their showroom has a variety of stones available. If you have questions about anything, the counter personnel as well as the yard personnel are there to answer your questions. They assisted us in doing the calculation of how much stone we would need. They have a well-stocked showroom and a very helpful staff. My son has also used their services.

Topsoil was screened material with no rocks or vegetation. Dumptruck placed the loads exactly where I had requested.

First the Great Part- The stone I ordered came on time as promised. The driver called me when he left the quarry so I could plan on when he would actually arrive. The first load of A21 was delivered in a 24 ton truck driven by and quot;Johnand quot;. The driveway is 476' long with a circle at the end and a set of power lines that run across the driveway (approximately 17' high). John came in and discussed what I wanted done and explained that the truck he was in was really too large to do what I needed, but he would try - He did an outstanding job, making a very even spread, especially given that he had to start and stop to avoid the the power lines. I was so impressed by his work that I called the Manager of the Stone Center and told him what a great job John had done.
The remainder of the stone was provided in 13 ton trucks which allowed John to do a outstanding job of spreading the gravel. It was so well done that I didn't have to do any re-grading.
Now the Not So Great Part- I was so impressed by the Stone Center's pricing on the A21 that when I put in sidewalks I purchased 13 tons of top-soil from them to use a filler around the sidewalks. Once again the soil arrived on time. John delivered the soil and did a great job, putting it right where I needed it. Unfortunately, the quality of the soil was terrible. Fully a third of the load was large (softball to soccer ball size) chunks of clay or densely compressed dirt. The clay was completely unusable and the dense balls of compacted dirt had to be broken up with a 4 lb sledge hammer. Another landscape contractor that was doing some work for me on my Geothermal system (regrading where the trenches had settled) saw the dirt and asked if it was fill for the trenches. When I told him that it was screened topsoil he could not believe it. It was so bad that I thought they had delivered the wrong material, so I called the Stone Center and asked what they had delivered. I was told it was top-soil that had been screened, just like I ordered, but because Virginia had so much clay in the soil, it compacted easily (the guy must think I have a large and quot;Sand quot; on my forehead!). Rather than argue, I just decided that I would not order any more soil from them (I actually need another 100 tons, which I will purchase from somewhere else).

We looked everywhere for travertine for a patio and decided to use the Stone Center. They are locally owned (which we liked) and have a huge selection of different pavers, travertine, rock, etc.. We ended up working with the owner, Cleil, who was very helpful. Their pricing is competative, delivery prices reasonable and it was very easy to do business with them. Cleil was helpful, attentive and made us feel like he wanted our business.

Given our experience, I would recommend the Stone Center to a friend, colleague or family. They do a great job!
