I was very happy with Shaw. A representative came to my house the very day that I called because they were in the area. The temperatures were 100+, so we very much appreciated that. They were able to install a unit at my house within 2 days after I asked them to. They recommended a larger unit than had been in my house - which helped IMMENSELY. I was very happy with the workmen and will have them service the unit yearly.

It went very effeciently. They arrived the same day that I called them. There had been a cancellation. The receptionist was very nice and the two repairmen were very professional and did a good job.

We were headed towards the 4th of July weekend and my main (downstairs) unit started tripping the breaker. I called Shaw and they came right away. Bad news, the condenser had fried and because replacements now require new coolant specs, the whole ting had to be replaced. Expensive, but whatcha going to do...? Here's the good news. The technician got on the phone and found a replacement system within minutes. And, they sent a driver to pick it up for installation that same day. The new system and crew showed up at 5:00PM and worked for several hours. They stuck with it until the job was done. More good news. The replaced the master power cut-off as part of the service so everything starts off clean and new. Even more good news. The installation technician measured the electric service wires for the system and found that they were rated for 30 amps. However, the builder had installed a 40 amp breaker (and it passed all inspections - take that as nobody was really looking). Now it is real rare for one of those systems to spike up anywhere near 30 or even 40 amps - but having the wrong breaker meant that the failsafe was the wire in the walls of the house - as in the house burns down if it actually got too hot. Shaw made a special run after hours to get a replacement 30 amp breaker. No extra charge. These guys are simply great!

We initially used Shaw Services to do maintenance on our old HVAC system, but when that system died, we looked around and found Shaw to be very competitive with other companies to install new systems. Due to our prior experience with their top quality customer care we chose them for our new system, and have continued to use them for the past few years to do annual Spring and Fall maintenance. Their guys do great work, are prompt and courteous, and ensure their work is thorough. I definitely recommend them.

They are very friendly, efficient, highly professional, knowledgeable, and clean. They cleaned up after themselves. They actually got Windex and wiped down all the machinery after they were done, all of the dust and finger prints, and swept everything. It was beautiful. They did a really great job. They also provided me with lots of options on the placing and what kind of equipment. They really gave me honest opinions on what would be great. I did not feel like they were trying to sell me the highest price or anything. They always seemed very upfront with me and very honest.

Don and his guys were very responsive. I had gotten 5 estimates on replacing the A/C unit at a rental property of ours, and Shaw Services was the best overall price. More importantly, Don presented several options on keeping the existing unit versus full replacement. This was nice as he wasn't trying to sell more than what was required. Our existing unit was terrible, and had been limping along for 2 years. We knew it should be replaced and with a 90 degree plus weekend coming up, we did not want our tenants to be suffering. Don provided a quote within hours and said he could install the next day if it was competitive. We hired him, and sure enough, his guys were out the next day and had the system installed in an afternoon. So far, so good. I still need to get the warranty paperwork (as I wasn't at the house for the installation), but I expect that they'll be sending this to me shortly so we can properly register the warranty.

Went great. Shaw's was the most competitive of the proposals we'd received. They also noted that we need a new lineset according to manufacturer specifications, which some other companies did not catch, and were able to install the line without breaking into our walls! (which we were warned might have to happen). Don Shaw was prompt and professional. Work was done quickly and so far our AC works wonderfully.

We called Don Shaw about a leak in our second floor A/C unit; the drip pan had cracked and the reserve pan overflowed as the secondary drain was blocked. He gave us an estimate based on my description of the problem, and after checking with several other service providers, we called to set up the repair. Jeremy, Daniel, and Sean arrived late in the afternoon and started in on the 4 hour procedure. Unfortunately, they had to work on the outside unit in the midst of torrential rain. Throughout it all they were very professional, efficient, clean, and neat. While this was not an emergency (by this time the reserve pan was draining properly), Shaw's scheduled the repair immediately. And, the cost of the repair was within the range of the original estimate. Our other A/C unit is on its last legs and when it finally goes I will be calling Shaw?s.

I called and left a message on Sunday after our house had been 80+ degrees all weekend. Our system is original to the house and I was convinced it was dying a slow death. Judy called me on Monday to schedule an appointment and offered me a cancelled appointment for that day since I was already home for the day. Our service tech was Brad and he was great. He tested the system and found the unit to be overcharged. He adjusted the pressure and then told me that the system was doing the best it could due to it's age (18 years). He gave us an estimate for a new system and the price wasn't too shocking. The work that he did do combined with lower outdoor temps this week is keeping the house very cool. In fact I had to adjust the thermostat up the other night because I was cold. I believe when we make the decision to replace the system Shaw will be doing the work. We are very happy with their response time and pricing.

Having my AC die during the year's first heat wave was very stressful. I found Shaw's on Angie's List. They did not disappoint. From the minute I called, the service was beyond par. My call was answered by a caring, knowledgeable and professional lady. The technicians always came promptly and finished before they said they would. Their prices are very competitive, just as the other reviews stated. The reason I choose to go with Shaw is due to their attention to quality and service. They do excellent work and project the utmost care and respect to their customers. I truly felt well taken care of.

Mr. Shaw came out promptly and was very professional in his estimate of the costs and an explanation of what he recommended. The installation crew came on time, and had a plan for how they would get all the work done before the weather turned cold. They did a great job on the installation, were very, very careful in keeping everything clean and after working 10 hours they patiently explained the new thermostat. They were a pleasure to work with and we are very happy with the new units.

My contractor recommend Shaw and I must say Shaw was great. They went above and beyond. The men came first thing in the morning and did not leave until about 9pm that night. The guys from Shaw made sure all systems were working before they left and made sure they cleaned up after themselves. They also fixed some duct work as well. I received estimates from two other companies as well as Shaw, and I am so glad I went with Shaw. Great decision. Shaw is a great example of what excellent customer service looks like. I will definitely recommend them to my friends in the NOVA area.

Called Shaw to check my AC unit as it was not cooling efficiently. I'd had another company check the system last year and was not at all happy with their service. The folks at Shaw were great about responding to my phone calls and setting up the appointment. Jeremy showed up on time and was very professional. Although I gave him several opportunites to say my whole system needed to be replaced, he said he did not think that was needed at this time as he did not see any major problems. He shared some simple, inexpensive things I could do to improve the effectiveness of the system. Most other companies would have been pushing hard to sell me a new system, but Jeremy was honest in his approach, which was very refreshing. He discussed options down the line and when the system does need to be replaced, and gave me a rough idea of what the range of total cost would be. Will definitely use Shaw again, and signed up for the annual maintenance plan (which again was offered but not at all pushed).

It went great. Brad and Kenny are very knowledgeable and experienced technicians who are very customer oriented. Don Shaw's son was one of the three installers and is learning the business and has already adopted his father's approach to customer service. The amount we spent based on their quote (numbers above) looks expensive but was actually the least expensive quote out of the four we received (Sears, Home Depot, and another small company). Again, don't hire anyone else. Support local small family owned businesses that are experienced and who are concerned with providing only the best possible service such as Shaw Services!

,Don and his technicians were able to work with my unique situation (needed an electrician to update some circuitry and incorporate a great deal of new duct work), but the Shaw team got everything accomplished in one day. One of the technicians forgot to bring one of two new thermostats to be installed but we were able to arrange a time for him to come over after I got home from work two days later. Since it hasn't been warm enough to warrant the use of A/C it truly has not been put to the test, but everything was working correctly at the test run and one of their technicians said they'll come back in a few weeks to check on it again.

After meeting with us, owner Don Shaw prepared a thorough proposal with several options to consider and a good labor warranty. Project was scheduled for the week after we signed the contract. Four very professional technicians worked smoothly and efficiently to complete the job in an 11 hour day. When I had some concerns about the new humidifier, a senior technician made a prompt return visit for some minor adjustments and additional "user training". Since then, we have been pleased with the comfort and efficiency of our new system. Highly recommended.

Our original a/c unit was too small for our house (sold to us by some hack about 15 years ago, who probably had it in his garage and wanted to get rid of it). In the spring/summer/fall that unit would run constantly....all day, all night, every day...for months on end...trying desperately (and not succeeding) to cool our relatively small house. As a result of this constant use, the unit would fail from time to time and Shaw Services would come out and nurse it back to health, charging us a nominal fee. This went on for 5-7 years. After a major renovation last year, which included expanding our living space some 800 sqft, Shaw Services sold us 2 Mitsubishi heat/ac wall units to accommodate the additional space. (See my previous review). These units are awesome, and that half of the house has remained climate perfect throughout the seasons. But the original unit broke again the other day (no surprises here). Shaw Services sent Jeremy out, but this time the fan unit broke and was going to cost us $500-700 to fix. It was time for an upgrade. Jeremy and Don (the owner) conferred for a long time, with Jeremy measuring duct size, furnace capabilities (the furnace was at least 30 years old), and weighing the options. We finally decided to replace the entire furnace/ac system. In the end, it will save us a ton of money. Three workers showed up when promised (between 9-10 am), and got down to business right away. They toiled all day long, in the 87 degree heat (hotter inside). As with any construction, several unforeseen obstacles came up. These were surmounted deftly and professionally, always keeping me abreast of changes and working to accommodate my wishes (at no additional cost to me). Being a female (who works in the construction industry), I can't tell you how refreshing it is to have male construction workers ask your opinion and treat your ideas with respect. Highly unusual. Initially, I was told that this would be a two day job, but that they could probably get the a/c running by the end of the first day. These guys knuckled down and got the job done in one day! They were here until about 10pm, putting in the finishing touches, showing us what had been done and training us to use the new thermostat. I swear, my utility room is SO much cleaner than when they got there! That, alone, is reason enough to hire them again! I can't say enough good things about Shaw Services. This company is run with integrity and professionalism that are rare in the construction industry. Trust these guys to do a superb job, stay within budget, and treat you with the respect you deserve.
