They are excellent. Their prices are reasonable. We will continue to use them.

I called them in the morning as one of our air conditioning units was not working. Talked to Judy and she told me Kevin would be coming over in the afternoon. Kevin came and was able to fix the problem for now. We will need a new unit as it is an old one and on its last legs. He was very polite and professional. He was able to answer all our questions and gave us different options for a new one. We will be calling them with our choice and have them install the new unit. Will update the report after the work is done. We chose Shaw from Angie's list last year and will continue to use them as long as we are in our house. They give great service!

They had to reschedule the installation date because some parts didn't arrive on time. They spent a day installing the heat pump, did a great job, very professional. We did get three quotes, they were the one only one who inspected our existing system and pointed out that our humidifier had some problem. Price is similar to the other companies, but overall we felt better about them. So far, we are very happy with the result.

We qualified for some discount from them. Their price included the annual service contract, the cleaning of the system as well as the repair work. They were very prompt, and professional. They did a thorough job. They were able to explain what they were doing, what they were seeing, and what they were recommending very well. They were able to back up their recommendation with a watchable explanation. They pointed out something, which I didn’t expect. They recommended us to replace the piping in the unit because when the water was getting stored, it used to over flow, and that was because the previous workers didn’t do the work correctly. We felt they were not trying to push us to do things, which were not relevant.

They arrive at the time they promised. The pricing seemed reasonable, though I didn't get another quote. The service tech was very professional. It did not take him long to make the repairs and cleaned up his mess. I would recommend this company to others.

They were very good. We got them from our realtor. We had our own inspection done in the home and sold it out in one week. They were very prompt and efficient. The workers who came out were very nice, congenial, and very professional. They did a fair job. They know what they were doing.

Our AC broke so I called first thing in the morning and a technicial was able to come out same day. He was right on time, diagnosed the issue quickly, and had the necessary part on hand to fix. He also tested the coolant and found it was very low, so we added that to the service. Overall was very professional, thorough, and quick. Would definitely use again.

I contacted four different companies from Angie's List to get an estimate for full HVAC replacement. Shaw Services quote was one of the most reasonable. The reason I decided to go with them is that Don provided the most detailed information about the options that we have, explaining pros and cons of different approaches and providing technical details of what does and does not make sense to do in our case. Installation process took two days. The technicians did a very high quality job and really did not leave a mess after themselves. Everything was reasonably clean when the installation was finished. There were some minor issues not directly related to the quality of installation or system usability and those were resolved very quickly. Don is very responsive and has a great team of folks working with him. I have to say that overall we are extremely pleased with the quality of service provided. If you need anything for your HVAC system, do yourself a big favor and call Don.

I got estimates from 3 companies. Shaw was not only the least expensive, but they are the only ones who took measurements and priced out a unit that would fit under my deck. On installation day, the guys were pretty considerate about keeping my carpet clean. They did a very neat job running the lines under my deck. I'm very pleased with the finished result. The only issue was with reinstalling the cheap UV filter that had been on my old unit. They ended up having to come back several times with new bulbs to try in the unit, but it turns out the base had been mounted a little off. I didn't have to pay for any of the return visits or bulbs, and they worked around my schedule, so no problem. I plan to use Shaw for my seasonal inspections in the future.

The HVAC unit is one that is not highly respected in the industry. It is about 6 years old and, just having bought the house, I am discovering things as we go. Shaw's Service has been the epitome of a professional and I highly recomend them. I know that I will contiue to use them for all my HVAC needs.

I call the company to seek an estimate to have gas logs installed but never received a return call. This is a very unprofessional way to conduct business.

I have no complaints. It was like the way things used to be 30 years ago before contractors became 'companies' and became more focused on selling than fixing. Shaw took my call, listened to what I needed, scheduled an appointment for the next day, showed up in the promised time frame (WOW), did the work, charged a fair price, and went on their way. What else do you need?

It was a good experience. Technicians arrived on schedule, were very courteous and performed thorough job in one day installing complete new indoor unit with air cleaner, humidifier, thermostat and outside AC unit. Don Shaw had given me a fair estimate to receive a new system before the end of the year in order to receive the Federal Tax Credit. He was polite and imformative and did not try to push or make a hard sell. He provided 4 options for me to choose that would work for me. Provided very good communication and provided an excellent service crew to complete the job. In over 3 months since installation it is obvious already that my new high efficiency system is saving money on my gas bill compared to my old 14 1/2 year old builder grade system.

These guys were awesome. Our 20+year old gas furnace was on its last leg right before a family visit. We got quotes from 3 other vendors and we got the best vibe and best price quote from Shaw. Others tried to sell us a bigger or fancier system than we needed. I had done a fair amount of research and realized that Shaw's suggestion was right for the size of our house. We ended up going with a 95% efficient model (we wanted the energy efficient tax credit). It took about a week to get the system and parts ordered (within the time line they gave us) which put us right up next to the Thanksgiving holiday. Shaw was able to come the day before Thanksgiving, remove the old system, install the new one and got everything up and running that same day. They stayed late to get it all done (until 8:00pm) and they remained pleasant and polite the whole time and took plenty of time at the end to show us the work and explain everything.

Don returned my call very timely and came out the next day. It was not an emergency so we setup an appointment for the following day. Don did a thorough check of everything and explained to me exactly what was wrong and fixed the problem immediately. Our unit is 8 years old and has not worked well since the day we built the house. We are in the process of getting a quote from Shaw Services on a replacement unit. Shaw Services was professional I would definitely use them again.

HEAT PUMP WAS MAKING A LOUD HUMING NOISE -- CALLED SHAW SERVICES ON 1/10/2011 WAS PUT INTO VOICE MAIL -- LEFT MESSAGE TO SET UP A SERVICE CALL FOR 1/11/2011. MY WIFE RECIEVED A CALL WITHIN AN HOUR AND WAS ADVISED THAT A TECHNICIAN WOULD BE AT OUR HOME AS REQUESTED BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 11 AM - 1 PM. KEVIN ARRIVED AT 11 AM. KEVIN CHECKED THE HEATPUMP'S OUTSIDE UNIT -- DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM -- FAN MOTOR WAS INOPERATIVE. GAVE ME THE OPTION OF PUTING IN A NEW FAN MOTOR $575 OR REPLACE THE WHOLE SYSTEM SINCE IT IS 12 YEARS OLD. IT WAS NOT A SALE PITCH (WHICH I APPRECIATED) JUST A COMMENT. I DECIDED TO HAVE HIM REPLACE THE FAN MOTOR. HE HAD A MOTOR IN HIS VEHICLE AND BEGAN INSTALLING IT AND THEN CHECKED THE WHOLE SYSTEM WHICH HE THEN ADVISED ME THAT IT WAS IN PRETTY GOOD SHAPE FOR ITS AGE. KEVIN WAS KNOWLEDGEABLE, POLITE, AND GAVE ME A GOOD FEELING THAT MY PROBLEM IS RESOLVED. TOLD KEVIN THAT I WILL USE HIS COMPANY IN THE FUTURE NOT ONLY FOR MY HOME BUT ALSO ON MY RENTAL PROPERTY.

The builders of our home (well-known company that will remain nameless) used lower-end appliances, heating/cooling system, etc. when they built it about 5 years ago. We've had all sort of issues with the heating and cooling system and were using an expensive company out of Middleburg, Va. to service it/do repairs as needed. These guys kept coming out every 3-4 months for something and we weren't happy with them (despite their claims of servicing most of the area). We paid for an Angie's List subscription in hopes of finding someone better. We went with Shaw after looking at their profile. Glad we did. Great experience all around. The two service techs who came out were as friendly and knowledgeable as they come. One of the guys has several kids who play on VSA (soccer). We talked about that for 30 minutes. Price was good and they told us that the Middleburg company had screwed up the installation of our whole-house humidifier. Shaw is a family-owned business with that old school mentality (treat your customers nice and do a great job for a good price). I highly recommend them.

Price was very competitive and unbeatable after vendor rebate. Donald provided great consultation during the estimate and was the only estimator to spot a slow drip from my water supply behind the H2O heater to be replaced. Install crew was courteous and professional. Children were home during the install and the crew kindly answered many questions without seeming annoyed. Would definitely work hire them again in the future.

I came home one Wednesday evening to find our 25 year old air conditioning system had given up the ghost. After calling another company that evening and receiving no prompt call back (despite following voice prompts to register my call as an "emergency"), I called Shaw Services Thursday morning. Shaw called back within half an hour, and scheduled an appointment with a technician later that morning. Instead of making me wait at home, they were willing to call about half an hour in advance, which gave me sufficient time to drive home and meet the tech. After examining the system, Kevin, the technician, explained that the compressor was likely beyond economically feasible repair (we had anticipated as much), and that it and the coil would require replacement. (When asked why the coil required replacement, he explained that the new compressor would use a different coolant than the old one, that it is not possible to completely purge all traces of the old coolant from the coil, and that the residual old coolant would cause damage to the new compressor, ultimately shortening its useful life.) Kevin worked up three replacement options, one replacing only the compressor and coil, and two replacing the compressor, coil, furnace and thermostat. We initially selected the least expensive option, but after consulting some knowledgeable family members, we changed our mind and chose the middle option. Kevin cheerfully returned to our house to take new measurements. Credit card was accepted for the 1/3 deposit. After checking availability of components, Kevin informed me that the new system could not be installed until the following Monday, but offered to provide three loaner window units in the interim. I returned to work, and Shaw dropped off the window units later that day. The window units kept us and some houseguests comfortable over the weekend. On Monday, the installers arrived promptly, and performed their work quickly and efficiently. When I asked them how long it would take, they stated that they hoped to complete the job in one day, but it would likely be a full day. At approximately 2:00 in the afternoon, they informed me that everything had gone more smoothly than expected, and that they would be finished shortly. The installer gave me instructions on use of the thermostat and other components, and provided me paperwork relating to the a $100 manufacturer's rebate and a $1500 tax credit that we are eligible for. All in all, it was as smooth and pleasurable an experience as an unexpected major home repair can be. I cannot offer an opinion on price, as I did not obtain multiple estimates, but the cost seemed in line with those in other reviews submitted.

I noticed a knocking in the air ducts and pooling of water at the base of the unit. I called Judy and left a message which she promptly returned. She offered to have a technician come by the same day! Due to work, I had to put it off a day. The call was scheduled for 3-5. At 1 the technician, Kevin, called to let me know that he could come earlier if it was convenient. He came, he saw, he conquered. Very professional. Very knowledgeable. Very friendly. Turns out it was a fairly simple fix, and he didn't try to make it out to be more than what it was, which I appreciated. In my opinion, the $105 was well spent.

Based on reviews on Angie's list, we decided to give Shaw Services a try and had a technician come to our home and do a maintenance service on our AC unit. We signed up for their yearly maintenance agreement, which is VERY reasonably priced. The tech did a wonderful job and fixed a draining design problem that was causing water to backup. Despite the fact that our system is 17 years old, he fixed the problem with no big sales pitch for why we should just buy a new unit. He pointed out several weaknesses that could lead to a failure so that we'd know what to watch for. Three weeks later during a particularly long streak of hot weather, the capacitor blew and the tech was at our door within hours to repair it. I'm so happy we decided to go with Shaw's for our mantenance agreement! So impressed, that we are also going with them to install a new system on Tuesday. The care and knowledge demonstrated by our tech gives us confidence that we've made the right decision.

Shaw Services was professional and reasonably priced and I would definitely use them again.

We called Shaw Services Mon morning and Don Shaw came out the same day. He diagnosed the problem, had tthe part with him and was able to fix it the same day. Profesional, knowledgeable and courteus. We felt the pricing was fair and were very happy with the work done. We would definitely recommend them.

I called Shaw Services and left a message earlier in the day and their dispatcher called me and said they had a cancellation and could send someone over immediately. Within the hour Kevin the technician showed up and very quickly diagnosed the problem which was a burned out wire preventing the compressor from coming on. I was pretty sure we were looking at having to replace the unit given its age. It was also down a pound or so of freon so he added that as well. In less than an hour we were up and running. Kevin was very professional and answered all my questions about replacing the unit without a hard sell. A top-notch company!

I paid the service fee to get the technician to our home the Friday evening before Memorial Day. He was prompt, courteous, and very professional even though his wife kept calling him to ask when he would be home so they could leave on their weekend vacation! There was extra money for freeon and I signed up for their maintenance program. I feel it was a bit pricey, but considering he came on the Friday before a long weekend and it was hot outside, it was worth it.
