Excellent! I have used RS Myers several times and I am always impressed by how knowledgeable they are and the quality of service. I manage an apartment building and there are several large appliances cumulatively and washing machines seem to be the worst offenders. They have repaired four of my washing machine/dryers and every time the work was high quality and they were able to explain the issue well. One thing I was impressed by also is they are not just looking to make a profit, they genuinely want the customer to be happy. On one occasion they informed me that although they would be happy to do costly repairs if I would like them, their recommendation was to first check the price of a new machine as that would likely be the better choice. On another occasion they helped me realize that a more recently purchased machine was still under warranty and that I could have the manufacturer fix it for free rather than paying them to do so. They are a pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend them!

John had difficulty removing whatever part he needed in order to replace a broken part. When he was done, he told my husband that it needed major work. The dryer was making noises AFTER he left that it wasn't making BEFORE he came. We had to go out and buy a new dryer, wasting almost $300 of our money.

We have used RS Myers for many years for appliance repairs, but we will never do so again. In October, John made costly ($1800) repairs to our Sub Zero, and replaced many parts. On January 7, John replaced the thermostat at my husband's request. Two days later the refrigerator started making clicking noises and stopped running. John returned and said that the compressor sent by Sub Zero in October was "weak". Sub Zero sent us a new part, and John and Bob replaced it, charging us $200 for the service call. Two days later, the refrigerator stopped working altogether. We didn't bother to call them back, refusing to spend any more money on poor repairs and costly parts. We had to replace the refrigerator.

Things started out okay; they came when they were supposed to, although Terry the technician had neurological problems that made it difficult for him to use his hands. He originally tried to remove our huge wall oven by himself but was unable to. He didn't have all the tools he needed and had to ask my 14-year-old son to help him. He eventually got the wall oven out and told me that not only was the electronic control panel not working, but the heating element in the oven was ruined too. I asked him how those two things could be related, and he tried to explain but he did a poor job. Another service visit and many dollars later, the oven was working. Except that, for some reason, the door didn't close properly anymore. I called them to come out again, and Terry came and looked and said that the lock motor was broken. He charged me more $$$ to replace it, but the problem still occurred. He came out again and said that everything was working properly, and that the reason the door didn't close all the way was because the seal was old and soft, and to replace that we'd have to replace the whole door. I declined. Now we are getting ready to sell our house, and of course the home inspector noted that the oven door didn't close properly, so I called a different repair company and asked them to come take a look. They guy took about 30 seconds to tell me that the hinges on the door were damaged; he said it looked like someone had put a screwdriver in them to get the door off (which Terry had in fact done). $300 later and the problem is solved. I called RS Myers and asked them to reimburse me for the cost of the new hinges; the woman who answered the phone said she'd look into it and have someone call me back. No one ever did, so a few days later I called and asked to speak to the manager, and got Bob. I explained the situation to him and his response was "Legally and morally we have no responsibility." He said he'd check with Terry to see if he remembered anything about the work, and he would get back to me. That was a week ago and I've heard nothing. STAY AWAY FROM RS MYERS. "Family-owned business" is great in theory, but in this case it stinks in practice.
Description of Work: The control panel on my wall oven wasn't working. The repairmen fixed that, but in the process busted the hinges on the oven door. Bob, the manager, refused to accept responsibility and won't even return my phone calls.

Our Whirlpool Gold refrigerator was not cooling properly. (I now see on the internet there seems to be a problem with Whirlpool). Anyway, the repairman was prompt, courteous, and tried all sorts of things to check out the problem. We pointed out a problem with the bottom hinge of the door. Yep, that was the problem. He had never seen a problem like that before. The door wasn't closing properly and wasn't making a proper seal. The refrigerator was sucking warm humid air from the kitchen into the unit and causing it to freeze up. He charged us $152 and said he'd call back and have to come back to fix the hinge. No one called. We waiting thinking he was doing research. A week later the door fell completely off of the refrigerator onto my wife as she opened the door to get a drink. How these guys get an and quot;Aand quot; rating and come up 1st on Angie's list puzzles me. I read all their reviews and the reviews are all over the place. Good, bad, and ugly. I hope there's an and quot;Aand quot; Team out there in the Gainesville area but it's not RS Meyers. More like average. More like hit and miss.

Timely and professional housecall. Technician gave candid opinion on the lack of quality of appliance unit and made other suggestions besides repair. I eventually bought a new unit instead of fixing the old one and appreciated that RS Meyers was looking out for my best interest and not just getting work (they didn't make any money aside from service visit fee).

So it turns out that the salt-of-the-earth folks at RS Meyers are not familiar with the common business and financial term, and quot;applied to.and quot; They think it means that this cost will be tacked on to the end of the bill. So we had a misunderstanding. These things happen. We get that. But to top off the $92 misunderstanding, the repair man was surly and argumentative, and, after diagnosing our problem, left without telling us when he'd return with the needed part. We called the office that day to express our concern with the unprofessional demeanor of the repair technician, Terry, and to try to clarify the whole issue of whether we'd have our $92 applied to the repair or not. The woman with whom we spoke, who I believe was the wife of the owner, just put up a brick wall about our concerns about the repair man's lack of professionalism. She just did not respond when I expressed our consternation over the way the repair person behaved at our home. No satisfaction, no apology, no nothing. I called the following day to ask when the repair person expected the part to arrive, and when they'd be out to finish our repair work. Someone who was and quot;just helping outand quot; answered the phone. He had no information, and no way to contact our repair man. Turns out the entire place closed up shop Thursday afternoon for the long Memorial Day weekend; nobody's back in the office till next Tuesday! No one let us know about the truncated hours; no one has been in touch with us about when we could expect the repair to be completed. All in all a frustrating customer service experience. We cancelled the work and found another repair service. Update: We have tried to contact the owner of the company, and left messages. A few days later, we received our uncashed check and a note back in the mail (which said, and quot;We don't give free service calls or claim to-just reliable service.and quot;). We appreciate that the company returned our money. That took the edge off the lack of professionalism.
Description of Work: We called RS Meyers to repair our washing machine. I spoke with the receptionist and asked the fee for the initial diagnosis and service call--$92.00. I then asked if that cost would be applied to any future repairs. The woman I spoke with assured me that this was the case. I asked again, just to make sure--"So the $92 will come off of the total repair cost." She assured me that yes, it would. Well, it was NOT. Turns out she had NO IDEA what "applied to" means. Enter surly repair man . . .

Have a 2 year old Whirlpool fridge (that is evidently made by LG) that had a problem with the interior light switch. Light would not come on when the door was open but if you then hit the switch with your finger the light would come on. Had called another appliance repair shop first but was told that since this was an LG brand there were few place that dealt with them. R.S. Meyers being one of them. Was able to easily set up an appointment (at which time I was asked for and provided the model number). A tech showed up at the scheduled time, I explained the problem - and that was about it. The tech never really did any troubleshooting - just kind watched me open up the door, saw that the light didn't come on unless I hit the switch, and then commented that the switch wasn't shaped like most of the switches he had seen and that he'd have to order a new one. He also commented that he might have to and quot;break outand quot; the old switch but that it shouldn't be a problem since he'd be replacing it. He gave me a bill for $92 to cover the service call and said he'd order the part. After he left, I got on my computer to do some research - i.e. to see how much the part runs (less than $15) and if it looked that difficult to remove. Quickly found the info so went back to the fridge to see if I could easily remove the old switch. It pops out very easily - there's just a bit of a clip on it - so I popped it back in. And then to my surprise the light now worked when opening the door. Tried the door several more times to make sure that it didn't go back out again - and it didn't. So I called the office, told them about the service call and my and quot;repairand quot; (and to also therefore cancel the part order) - the gentleman who answered didn't have much to say other than and quot;I'll have talk to the techand quot;. I understand paying for a service call - but I'm guessing if the tech had at least done what I had done I'd have felt better about the $92. As it was, I really didn't get any real troubleshooting or testing for the $92 service call. I at least didn't end up paying for a part and a repair that wasn't actually needed. From the reviews this company appears to provide pretty good service - but I don't feel like I really got that in this case.
Description of Work: Call was answered quickly and the office rep was friendly. Was able to set up an appointment quickly and the tech showed up right in the 2 hour window as expected. Beyond that, it wasn't a great experience.

We were afraid the compressor may have died, but as it turned a faulty relay was the problem. the service man happened to have one in his van. The repair was done within an hour and the Terry couldn't have been more helpful or nicer. We are relieved that we don't have to buy a new refrigerator especially since we plan to remodel our kitchen in the new year.

The service tech was extremely neat and clean. He was an older gentleman and I first thought he may not know how the electronic parts actually work, however, he certainly was able to diagnose the issue quickly. Unfortunately, the cost of repair was much more than replacing the Washer. He was actually early and really appreciate his knowledge of the washer. I felt very comfortable with his diagnosis.

We were renting a condo and our clothes dryer stopped heating. The landlord had us investigate the repair and the building manager recommended this company. The technician came out the next business day after I called to make the appointment. He showed up a little after the given time frame, diagnosed the problem very quickly, and made the repair on the spot. The technician was very nice and explained exactly what the problem was and how to prevent it from happening in the future. Other than him being a little late (a common occurrence regardless of company when coming to DC), I was completely satisfied.

My husband and I were in Florida when we learned that our refrigerator in Virginia was no longer working. As we did not want to return to a home with no refrigerator, we asked our condo's building engineer to determine if there was a problem he might be able to identify. He referred us to R S Myers. We called from Florida and asked if they could send someone out to look at our refrigerator. They did, then the service person called us from our apartment to identify the problem and to give us a quote for repairs. We gave him the go-ahead and he made the repair. He commented that he suspected what the problem may have been (circuit board) and had brought the right part with him. We were most relieved, and pleased to be able to return to a working refrigerator. We were quite pleased to work with this company that accommodated us long distance.

I basically cold called this company based on their website and being a family owned business. The gentleman who answered the phone and took my information was very brief - to the point. I asked that the technician call me 30 minutes out so I could run home from work to meet him. The technician contacted me via telephone to let me know the job he was on took longer than originally expected. He then contacted me again to let me know when he was approximately 30 minutes out. The technician had been in the business for over 37 years and stated that he actually was the least experienced of the technicians at RS Myers. Quite impressive. He diagnosed the problem quickly and seemed to know all the tricks to getting it started again. It was obvious he had a lot of experience. He was also very willing to answer all my questions regarding best brand to buy in future, washing machine questions, etc. I will definitely do business again with this company. Very pleased indeed.

The tech was really professional and knowledgeable. He fixed the problem (refrigerator) in 15-20 minutes and then answered several other questions about the model and some questions about the washing machine. The down side was the price seemed high for the work. Basically he tested and replaced an element. The part was ~70 so the labor seemed a bit much. Also they said after 3, he showed at 6. Not terrible but a call at any point to say they were in route would have been better.

I called to request service for a broken washer. I got a service appointment for 4 days later for a Fri between 9AM-1PM. I took the day off from work and was waiting until noon. On calling, I was told that a person had been sent at 9:30AM and that they knocked and there was noone at home and that they left a note to this effect on the door (which I could not find, as far as I can tell there was no note). I was home at the time and I asked why noone had tried to reach me on my cell number which they had. Basically, the person on the phone was rude and discourteous and insinuated that I must have been was lying. I hung up, and will never use this company again. Never.
