 + -1 moreThe owner of the company is pleasant and makes attempts to satisfy while on the job. His workers do not speak English so can be difficult to communicate with. The owner did come over to attend to problems when called and made attempts to correct them. He did say that he would leave paint in case we needed to touch anything up but he did not. We had a problem with the application of a driveway sealer about a month after painting was completed. It was splashed on driveway doors and foundation. I wrote to Scott asking for the paint which he said he originally said would provide. I never received the paint. Our deck was included in the painting job. The white railing began to peel a few months later and my emails to Scott were ignored. I had expected that all wood rot would be taken care of and the additional cost of this was high and some of the work was done but I have noted more wood rot that was just painted over and now is showing damage.
Description of Work: This company was hired to replace all rotting wood, paint the exterior trim and doors and the railing on the deck.

However, I hired him because of his honest commentary, when he gave me the estimate and his reviews on Angie's List. Working with Scott was a pleasure; in addition to being a professional, he is straight forward and honest. The work was completed while I was traveling and I am satisfied with the job Scott and his team did. Highly recommend him and will certainly use him again in the future.
Description of Work: Scott and his team an interior paint job on a one bedroom condo for me; single coat as no change of color was involved. The condo is about 750 sq feet and all interior walls were painted, but not the ceilings. Other minor handyman work was completed as well.

 + 0 moreI contacted Patriot Painting, among other Angie's List recommended painters, in August to obtain an estimate to repaint the exterior of my home. Scott from Patriot Painting responded very quickly to my inquiry and visited my home within 2 days to provide an estimate. Over the following 2 weeks, I obtained estimates from a few other Angie's List painting contractors. Patriot's estimate automatically included the Angie's List discount, and it also included all of the initial services I requested. In short, Patriot's estimate was the most comprehensive and accurate, as well as the most reasonable in cost. In the third week of August, I made the decision to use Patriot Painting, and Scott scheduled the work (weather permitting) within a few days. Patriot's team was punctual, professional, neat, respectful, and very thorough. Their estimate was for 1 coat of top quality exterior paint on my home's EIFS, but once they started, they determined that 2 coats were necessary. Scott did not charge me more for the extra coat -- he automatically honored his original estimate without any input from me. While Patriot's crew was working on my home, I identified some additional projects for them to do: painting wrought iron, staining patio, as well as replacing a few pieces of vinyl siding that blew off my home during a recent storm. Scott was happy to do the extra work, provided a very reasonable estimate same day as my request, and his team did a great job performing the work. I am very pleased with my whole experience with Patriot Painting, and plan to use them again at both my home as well as my business.
Description of Work: Painted the exterior of home, applied concrete stain to patio, painted all exterior wrought iron, repaired and painted exterior wood trim, repaired a few pieces of vinyl siding from home that blew off during a recent storm.

The Patriot crew arrived on time every morning and worked hard all day. They were very professional, did high quality work even in awkward/high areas, and cleaned up every evening. Rudy, our crew leader, was very easy to talk with and took great care with any request we made. The temperatures during the afternoons approached 100 degrees but the guys kept at it. They even played soccer during their lunch hour - a fun group. Work was completed on schedule with no problems at all. I would recommend the company for any painting job and will certainly use them again myself.

 + -1 moreI left a message and Scott promptly called me back, he came to the house same day to inspect and perform estimate, he got me a quote very quickly. The quote was on the highest end of range of quotes I received, even though it included the Angie's List 20% discount. Company did not negotiate on quote price. They promised to start work immediately and meet my schedule, and they delivered on time. The quality of the work was above average, and any quality issues that I raised were addressed immediately, and without push back from the crew. Scott has a good crew working for him. Although the crew used my utility room to clean their paint brushes and made a big mess, once I asked them to stop cleaning brushes inside the house and clean up the mess, they were promptly compliant. Although more expensive than all other quotes, overall I was quite satisfied with the experience. I would highly recommend this company for any inside paint work and would use them again without hesitation.

This was not for the amateurs and they knew what they were doing.The finished product looks great. This was in my kitchen. They cleaned up every day and arrived promptly and left around 4 except the first day when things took a little longer than expected. You can't go wrong with this company.

 + 0 moreThe gentleman who pressure washed my home was punctual and did a very good job of cleaning all of my house - to include climbing a ladder to clean the high spots (of which there are several). He took a complete day to pressure wash the house (in the rain). He also pressure washed my shed at my request. The painting team took two days to paint our house, they were also punctual and courteous. I believe that they did a very good job of painting the wood trim and other wood areas to include garage windows/doors. I worked with Scott, the owner, and requested that he use Sherwin Williams Duration paint instead of their usual Duration paint. Scott only charged me the cost difference between the two brands. I would strongly consider using them again. Their price was fair and there were no surprises in this experience.
Description of Work: Patriot Painting pressure washed the vinyl siding of our two-story colonial house, prepped and painted all of the exterior wood surfaces.

 + -1 moreMy husband was very impressed by the responsiveness and professionalism of the gentleman who came out to give us an estimate to paint two bedrooms, ceilings and trims. The only downside was the price. We had obtained another estimate and Patriot's was more than double. $1,900 compared to $750.00 for two bedrooms. The contractor I did end up using did an excellent job. And I'm sure Patriot would have too, but the price just seemed too steep for us to have two bedrooms painted. But overall, they seemed like a nice company and very professional.

I contacted Scott through Angie's list for an estimate on this job. I sent him a number of photographs of the rooms for which interior painting was required. Scott got back to me with a fairly detailed estimated within a day. His estimates were very competitive with other estimates that I received from other companies on Angie's list. I decided to go with Scott given his excellent record on Angie's list as well as his interest and promptness in responding to my request for a quote. The date was fixed for the paint job. The paint crew arrived on time and following a brief review of the instructions, started on their job. The entire job was done within two days. The crew was very professional and did a superb job of painting the walls, ceilings and trim, The paint lines were sharp and it was apparent that the crew had considerable skill and experience in painting. Wherever required, floors were covered to ensure no paint stains on the hardwood flooring or carpet. The crew cleaned up well after finishing and I was very pleased at both the quality and efficiency with which the job was done. I will have no hesitation contacting Scott again for any of his services I might require in the future.

 + 5 moreLearned more about the price. More than I ever expected to pay when I spoke with other contractors after the fact. Get quotes from other contractors and you might want to ask Scott what his expense for the paint is...price that out as well. Scott seems to jack up his prices when it is convenient for him and he does not follow through on items he agrees to. His prices seem seasonal. Why should one pay more when he is busy? I also found it strange that I make the check payable to Scott Runkle as opposed to Patriot Painting. Wonder what that's all about...

We were a little skeptical that the work could not be done in one day but they worked very hard, did an excellent job, and left the house clean and in order. Scott painted an office using two colors, one color for the accent wall. He also painted a guest bedroom and closet and a laundry room that was dark blue. We chose a brighter yellow color for the laundry room which took 3 coats of paint. They also painted all the trim in each of the rooms. The work was neat and quality very good. I would defiinitely recommend Scott and would use his crew again in the future.

 + 2 moreWhile I did not hire Patriot Painting for this project, I was impressed with the company itself and the way they provided information. The packet I recieved did a good job of explaining the company and their philosophy, how they work, and gave some details on their employees. The only negative I have to report is that Scott did not take the time to ensure he had my name correct on the proposal which I found to be somewhat unprofessional (but it's definately not why I went with another company). I recieved proposals from 6 companies and Patriot was one of my final 3. I would call them again should I be in need of any service they provide.
Description of Work: Scott of Patriot Painting came to my home and provided an estimate for interior and exterior painting, powerwashing my house, and cleaning and sealing my deck. His proposal provided good detail and fully outlined the work to be performed.

Despite some small hiccups, the experience was a positive one through competitive pricing, quality work and prompt/responsive delivery. Details: My condo was in need a painting refresh. I contacted a handful of companies via AngiesList for quotes. At the end of the quote process, Patriot Painting was able to win my business by being flexible on price and services provided. I was able to take advantage of a cancelled job and contract the painting services at a discount. My one complaint here was that I had to be careful to make sure that the price in the quote matched the price discussed on the phone - it took a couple phone calls back and forth, but eventually the numbers on paper matched the numbers exchanged verbally. The team that performed the work was polite, professional, and overall did a great job. They arrived on-time and completed the work ahead of schedule. My one complaint here was that the team did not clean up in the bathroom after painting - I had to spend upwards of an hour scraping drops of paint off of my bathroom countertops and mirrors. With this single exception, I am pleased with the quality of the work performed.

 + 2 morePatriot Painting has completed three jobs for us. One in 2004, one in 2005 and one in 2011. We have had positive experiences each time, and wouldn't go anywhere else for our painting needs. While Scott is the owner, he personally oversees each job. He discusses what you want/need in detail, and provides an estimate based on that. He is a straight-forward and pleasant business man that takes pride in the final product. His workers have been with him for 10-20 years. While most are skilled in many areas, he knows their individual talents, and maximizes them. To my knowledge, he has not let anyone go during the recent hard times (we recognized his staff in 2011 from 2004). Most, if not all, of his workers speak English well, and all understand what is expected of them. In our experience, their days start early (8:00am), and they usually leave for the day at 4:00pm. Scott often popped by during or after the work day, to check out the work being carried out. If there were any issues, Scott would review, and they were corrected promptly - on occasion, by Scott himself!. Note: We were torn between an A or B rating regarding price. We believe that Patriot Painting prices are extremeley good value. Not the cheapest quote you'll get, but then, you get what you pay for. Patriot Painting is a detailed-conscious company. Description of Work: We first used Patriot Painting in 2004. We were looking to prep our town house for sale, and Scott (the owner of Patriot Painting) was referred to us. We have used their services twice since then, and would not consider going anywhere else. In 2004, Patriot Painting painted the whole interior and exterior (windows & doors) of our town home. Scott provided a huge choice of colors and gave his professional opinion on finishes. He completed a full review of the work needed and made recommendations - without any hard-sell. This included repairing nail-pops; drywall in places; sealing cracks; caulking and window/door frame repairs. Scott is extremely professional, focused on the job requirements/wishes, rather than time-consuming idle chatter. He did what he said he was going to do, when he said he was going to do it - to an excellent standard, and with no $ surprises!! When we moved to our new home in 2005, we again used Patriot Painting for the whole interior and exterior. Our house has 56 windows and is nearly 6,000 sq ft. The work included painting dark colors neutral; removing wallpaper; painting a two storey foyer and family room; with drywall, sealing and caulking as needed. Again, Scott discussed colors and finishes with us. As we were going to re-carpet in places, he was able to spray-paint most of the closets, which kept man-hours and cost down. The estimate was detailed to avoid surprises. When we changed our mind on the colors for two rooms (after they had been painted), Scott took it in his stride, and explained how that would change the estimate, just to be sure we wanted to go ahead with the change. The cost for the whole house, inside and out, including the changes requested (and any repairs identified during the process), cost approximately $14,000. Our latest experience with Patriot Painting was in July 2011. The interior painting they did for us in 2005 has held up well, and is not in need of a re-fresh yet - and it's been over seven years since they completed the interior paint job!! Scott likes to use a particular brand of paint, and based on our experience, I would go with his judgment. In 2011, we needed the exterior (56 windows & 3 doors, plus the garage) to be painted to make sure we were sufficiently weather-proofed for the winter. Scott pointed out three areas where the wood needed treatments and/or repair (garage; door and one window). Again, no hard-sell, and when he pointed out his concern, the issues were obvious. We went with his judgment. The suggestions were incorporated into the estimate and completed to our total satisfaction. The July 2011 job was scheduled within a week of the estimate being accepted, and was completed in 4 days, and on budget.

 + 3 moreOverall, the company did an awesome job! I just happen to run into Scott, the owner of Patriot, while I was shopping for paint in a local paint store. It turned out to be my good fortune. I mentioned that I was looking for estimates, bought some paint and went home. Within a couple of hours, Scott showed up to give me an estimate. After doing some due diligence, we scheduled the job within two weeks. His crew was very prompt each morning for the three days it took to complete the job. They did an outstanding job painting the trim, repairing some workwork, caulking where necessary, pressure washing and painting the deck, and painting the cement basement walk-out. And, they cleaned up each evening before leaving. Scott was on-site several times a day to elevaluate his crew's progess and checked with me to see how things were going. One of the aspects I most appreciated was Scott's business philosophy. He still believes in doing business with a handshake. His word is his bond. Still, he provided a detailed proposal so there would be no misunderstanding of the effort involved. As a convenience, the company allows clients the option of cash or charge. Usually, independent contractors only accept cash. This winter, my wife and I plan to do some renovations inside our home. Patriot Painting will be on our speed dial!!
