I have a service plan with Parrish.  They came the next day, and solved the problem in one visit.  Since I have been using Parrish they have sent the same technician to my property each time, which is surprisingly helpful.  They showed me the faulty parts, and consulted me regarding price prior to replacing.

First things first. I had a Muchin Contender boiler installed in my house when we purchased it. The system gave us problems from day one. I spent $500 alone in service fees for other companies to come out and look at the unit, only to be told that they can't fix it. Once Parrish got involved they stayed with it until the end. These guys are awesome. It took almost 2 months to fix everything, that was because the builder installed the previous boiler incorrectly, and Parrish had to go behind them and fix the mistakes. They made sure they got it right. I love these guys.

We had an emergency in which our pipe burst and flooded our room downstairs on a weekend. They were quick to respond on a weekend recognizing our emergency aituation. The plumber was very polite and we felt did a great job fixing our issue promptly and helping us remove a water softner (cause of the leak) and dispose of it for us. We have used Parrish in the past both with and without a home warrenty.

"Thanks, Member! Plumbing emergencies are so stressful any time, but on a weekend can be even worse. Glad we could be there to help :-)"

In addition to my above comments, Parrish took the time to explain the geothermal process, costs and benefits. We plugged in real numbers from our utility bills to estimate costs and ROI. After the work was done, the techs came out multiple times to check on the system operations, ask whether we had any questions and even identified areas they felt the system should run better when we had no problem. The owner of this company is hands on and concerned about the quality of workmanship. He had them redo work that he thought should have been done better.

Our sump pump quit working last Sunday - one of our few hard, rainy days.  We called a couple of companies; some called us back and some did not.  Some were VERY high priced (taking advantage of it being a Sunday!) but Parrish not only gave us a fair estimate but was extremely professional, courteous, timely AND fair priced.  Being a member of Angie's List, we got a discount on the fee.  The technician fixed the problem in a short amount of time.  We are very pleased and will definitely use them again!

"Thank you for taking the time to post a positive review. Just to let you know, we're ALWAYS open on Sundays! In fact, we're open every day of the year except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day (and even then we still run emergency service). And every day, we charge the same flat rates for service. Thanks again!"

I have used their services twice now. One experience was good and the other was bad.
Response from Parrish Services Inc
"We're sorry to hear this homewoner had a poor experience with our service. We see two calls, one for plumbing in 2009 and one for HVAC in 2010. We can see both calls were scheduled 3-5 pm arrival, and one we arrived at 5:15 and the other at 4:05. Both problems were diagnosed quickly. We successfully repaired the plumbing problem, and recommendations for the HVAC problem were declined. We don't have any system notes indicating there was a problem, so if the homeowner would like to share details with us, we'd be happy to try and address any concerns."

Our bathroom drain isn't draining properly so we contacted our home warranty who got us in touch with Parrish Services. tHe gentleman that come to fix a simple problem with the drain did not have the necessary materials and simply gave up after 30 min of trying to use a broken "snake".
Response from Parrish Services Inc
"Parrish was engaged by the homeowner’s home warranty company to provide service in this home. The complaint received was the upstairs faucet was making noise and shaking the pipes. Parrish quickly dispatched a plumber. He was scheduled to arrive between 12 and 4, he arrived at 1:53 p.m. and he quickly identified the problem. Unfortunately, that problem was not covered by the homeowner’s home warranty. While Parrish was still on site, the homeowner asked our plumber to look at a clog, as well. Even though we were not dispatched for this purpose (i.e., we were not being paid for this work), the plumber agreed. What the plumber found was a “soft clog,” meaning a clog consisting of things like grease, soap, etc. The plumber’s snake was in perfect working order, but a snake cannot fix a soft clog. The snake will poke through the clog, but then the material will just collapse again. The homeowner required a residential jetting service. We were not dispatched to perform this work, so we did not have appropriate tools. We completed our call at 3:32 p.m. after being on site for almost 1.5 hours and working on a problem for free. Because Parrish was not authorized to perform this work, it was the responsibility of the homeowner to either: a) call his home warranty company for new claim; or b) engage a residential jetting service on his own. We apologize if our plumber did not effectively communicate this to the homeowner. However, Parrish did perform all contracted work in a timely, thorough, and professional manner. In fact, our plumber went far beyond his scope of work, and with the exception of not communicating the homeowner’s responsibilities, the F’s in this case are simply not warranted."

They do a whole range of services like electrical and plumbing and they’re licensed.  I have a home warranty and they are one of the contractors.  One thing I like about them is that they collect food for the hungry.  When they come, they ask nicely if you want to donate.  They have been nice and helpful and I have had absolutely no problems with anything they’ve done; they have never had to come back twice.  The one time I got a different provider’s number from the home warranty company they didn’t call back so I requested this company.  They call me right away and they follow-up if they don’t reach me.  They’ve been great.  It’s hard to answer about the price because I do have a home warranty.  I did get an estimate for hanging ceiling fans and it was a lot; however, it wasn’t more than anyone else.

"Thank you for your thoughtful comments. We offer many services, and we're happy you've used us for more than one type. We're also glad you are happy to be involved in our charitable efforts. We're a small business with employees, customers, and partners all living and working in this area, so we feel fortunate to have an opportunity to give back. As for the pricing, we do our best to remain competitive. We'll never be the cheapest guy out there, but we strive to create value for our customers and we always stand behind our work. Thanks again!"

We've had the service agreement with Parrish since we were referred to them by our home warrenty. They put in a new HVAC unit 3 years ago and have done our maintenance.  We still have an annual service contract with them, and I believe our unit is still under warranty, so we'll continue using them for now.I've got two things to report - once recent, one from a year ago:
1) Early June our AC went out. Parrish was very responsive and sent someone out within a couple days to check it out. The unit had frozen and the blower was filled with water. The serviceman sent was very friendly, cleaned everything out and recommended installing a wet switch and surge protector, which was done a week later.  After restarting the unit, the noise was very loud when running and made a metallic grinding sound when cycling down. We told the tech this when he came to install the wet switch & surge protector, but he told us there was nothing wrong.
Well.... the unit went out again about a week later.  Parrish sent another tech - and this guy was fabulous!  He found the problem the newer tech didn't - that something in the coils was dirty and cleaned everything up. Unfortunately our motor had been ruined by this.  As it was late Saturday afternoon when he finished, he said he'd put in an order first thing Monday to get a new motor. And the responsiveness was horrible - we heard nothing from Parrish about when to expect the part to come in. I called twice during the week to find out what was going on.
Once the part came in on Thursday, they did send someone out right away to install it. However, the tech only installed the new motor. He didn't replace the metal tape or white clay stuff that seals the unit. I came downstairs and most of the air was blowing out of the side of the unit. Not happy at all about that
.2) We have some flexible ductwork in our basement that needs to be replaced b/c it's non functioning. We had someone from Parrish out last summer to give us an estimate to get it fixed. The man that came was very good - he measured all the ducts for the whole system, figured out what needed to be done, and we were very happy with him.  He told us we'd need to rip out the drywall and marked where it was needed for them to do the work, which was supposed to be about a day. He told us he wanted to come back before ordering the ducts to measure the size of the ductwork in the far wall of the house, behind the wall.
I asked him for an estimate that day, and he said he'd get back to me. And never did. I called Parrish three times over three months asking for an estimate. Each time I told them I needed at least a ballpark number for the work - are we looking at $500? $1000? $5000???? And no one EVER called me back. Ever. So, we've now got the drywall down and I'm searching for a responsive company to do the work for me.

I had Parish out in November 2011 to service two gas fireplaces that we had not used for two years. I explained I wanted a complete checkup and servicing to make sure everything was in working order when they were done. They performed the work and charged $833, which I thought was high. The serviceman showed me the pre-set prices and said, "You won't need anything to be done for the next five years."
In Jannuary 2012 the blower on one of the fireplaces stopped working. I called and asked for someone to check this out. I assumed this would be part of the original package as it had been barely two months (not five years) and I already had something wrong. The serviceman found that some wires had burnt out causing the blower not to go on. He fixed the problem but I was very surprised and objected when he handed me a bill for $149. I called the main office and asked to speak to a supervisor and was told none was available but that someone would call me back ASAP. I foolishly paid the serviceman so as not to hold him up thinking this would be resolved when I spoke with a manager. No-one every called back.
A week or so later I received a "customer staisfaction" call from someone on behalf of Parrish. I went through whole situation and she said someone from Parrish would get back to me shortly. Six months later I am still waiting to hear from someone from Parrish.
I did not fail the company overall as the work appears to be okay (so far anyway) . However, the company's profesionalism and customer care/satisfaction is another matter. By blowing me off and not even discussing my complaint they undermined any good will generated by the quality of their work. Of course, I now question the work quality because they missed the burnt out wires on the first call. Time will tell.

Update:
This company made good on my complaint. They ended up refunding the charge for the second visit.
Response from Parrish Services Inc
"In this case, we unfortunately have to agree. Our service earlier this year was definitely not up to our normal standards, and we've offered the homeowner a full refund."

We had a puddle develop around the floor of our HVAC.  We had just had a different company perform a maintenance service on it three weeks earlier with a "clean bill of health" - though the technician didn't clean out the condensate line.  And I could see water dripping out of it.  Our home warranty company referred this trouble call to Parrish Services, which is why the fee was only $50.
Kevin came out within the 8-12 window (though near the end), and found the condensate line was okay - the clog was at the top where it exits from the unit.  He vacuumed up some gunk and cut some PVC pipe to make a condensate line with less turns.  He sealed it up and the water discharge began flowing much more strongly.
I gave a B to the Quality grade because we still have the smalled little water leakage at the top - nothing a well-placed (and occasionally checked) rag can't deal with.

They were part of the home warranty. When my heater went off in the winter, I called them to come in and repair it. This is the second time we've used Parrish, through our home warranty company. The first time they replaced an outlet that had burned out the fuse for part of our second floor. This time they replaced some parts of our powder room toilet after we realized it was leaking. Both young men were very knowledgeable, quick, professional, explained clearly what they had done, and within their service window. I would definitely use Parrish again for home warranty issues and for things that fall outside my warranty.

The removal of the old unit and installation of the furnace was completed on the first day.  The AC was completed the following morning with no problems.  Estimates were more detailed than the final receipt but they provided an additional receipt upon request.  Their estimates were one of the lower and included the equipment I selected.  The staff was courteous and very thorough with the install including options (drain pan, check valve, etc.) that others were charging additional fees despite code requiring these features.  They also replaced a big section of the old duct work at no cost.
Response from Parrish Services Inc
"Thank you very much for taking the time to rate us. We're glad you had a great experience. We like to say about code that, "It's the worst job allowed by law!" We do more than just what's required by code because we want your system to be safe, cost-effective, efficient, aesthetically pleasing, and comfortable. For these reasons, we include extras that other companies don't do unless someone asks. But if homeowners knew everything to ask, they probably wouldn't need to call a professional, right? We take pride in our work, and we're our glad you're happy with this job. We stand behind it, too, so don't hesitate to call if you have any problems at all. Thanks!"

I am very satisfied with that experience.  I wasn’t very happy with the price as it is really high.  I was in general pretty satisfied with how they justified all the work that had to be done.  After I got the quote from them on it, I did do my own research and verified that it was valid.  Frankly I don’t think that the ducts of my house have ever been cleaned in 20 years.  I just bought it a few years ago in that condition and it had been overdue.  The outcome was good.  The cleaning was good.  I don’t know how effective it's going to be until 5 years from now.  I had a little bit of trouble with setting up the appointment with their receptionist; she didn’t seem to understand what I was looking for.
Response from Parrish Services Inc
"Thank you, Member, for taking the time to give feedback. It's great to hear you were confident our technicians were recommending appropriate services. I know some services were not exactly cheap, but we hope you ultimately believe in the value. For example, your duct cleaning shouldn't have to repeated every year (please change your filters regularly, though!). Unlike most duct cleaning companies, we use more sophisticated (and thus more expensive) equipment that does more than just push dirt around. If you ever have a question or concern about our the value of our services or your individual recommendations, please feel free to call us (7 days a week, 8a-8p) or submit a contact form from our website. We want repeat customers like you, and we want them all to feel like raving fans! Thanks so much for your business."

The service fee included a mandatory $107 (I think) fee to show up and diagnose the problem.  The remainder of the fee was for service and parts.  The lady who took my call for an appointment was easy to work with.  She was able to quickly pull up my address and data from prior calls.  She even took care of coordinate the timing of the repair by directly calling my tenant and only calling me back for billing and price quotes.

The service tech called me and was able to explain the problem and the diagnosis in simple english.  I approved the estimated cost, which turned out to be exactly the amount eventually billed to me.Given the nature of the leak, I didn't have time to shop around for pricing, so I went back to Parrish. I have used them a few times before for repairs on my properties, and my history with them has been identical to this recent visit.  They always seem to be very courteous on the phone, prompt with showing up the same day or the same week, and completing the repair correctly the first time. With this track record, I expect to keep using Parrish for repairs on my properties.

You will want to read this before even considering calling these people. This was by far my worst experience ever with home repair. I left this experience feeling angry and annoyed. I had no choice in using them because they were the company that worked with my home warranty company. I did not renew with my previous home warranty company simply because I did not want to ever have to deal with these people again. Let me just note that this was going on during the hottest part of the summer when the temps were exceeding 100+

My a/c was blowing out warm air and my house not cooling off. So the home warranty company contacted them and they came out the next day. The first tech they sent out just checked the freon levels and said they were low. He refilled it. He told me "well it may be a leak, but it doesn't look like one so I will just refill the freon and everything should be fine," then he goes on to trying to sell me some $700 thing for yearly maintenance. So this was mistake number one-I am not an HVAC technician, I assume if the guy tells me there isn't a leak, there isn't one. Anyway everything is fine for about a week. Of course, the air starts blowing hot again. Again, it's over 100 degrees outside. So I call back to my home warranty company telling them that the problem was not fixed and that it was imperative that I get a tech out ASAP because my house was 87 degrees and I had two small children with no where to go. It took Parrish 2 days to get out there. I even called Parrish telling them how important it was because I had a 4 month old baby! They just said sorry they would be there when they scheduled. Really?? You should have fixed it right the first time and now I am waiting 2 days in a 90 degree house with 2 small children! Anyway a new tech comes back, which my husband said was an awesome tech; nonetheless, he detected a leak in my coil within 2 seconds with this freon detector gun. Why couldn't the first guy have done that the first time??? Anyway he said that he would have to order the part and it could take up to a week for it to come in because my system was old. That is ok, totally understandable. I am not upset with the fact that we had to wait for the part because that was out of anyone's control. BUT here is the straw that broke the camels back-- they call me to Wednesday tell me the part would be in Thursday and they wanted to schedule an installation first thing Friday morning. I said ok! Great thanks for the punctuality. So thursday evening comes along and I get another call from Parrish-- "Oh we are sorry, actually we need to send a tech out to measure the coil and then it needs to be welded so it can't be installed for another 24 hours, so actually a tech will come out to measure on friday morning." ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? This whole week I was waiting for the part to come in you people could have sent out a tech to measure so that as soon as the coil came in they could weld or whatever they had to do and they could have come and put it in later in the afternoon on Friday. SO NOW I was another 3 days without a/c and they came on the following monday. Wow, seriously? I was so incredibly livid. So while I was staying with my grandmother, I decided to call Parrish to let them know how incredibly angry and disappointed I was with the customer service I was receiving. They made three mistakes---all in the dead of summer with temps exceeding over 100---First, why didn't the initial tech check for a leak to avoid all of this! Second, why did they make us wait 2 days to get service on a problem that they should have initially fixed? Third, why didn't they have someone come out and measure the coil during the whole 7 days they were waiting for it? The last 3 techs we dealt with were very nice and professional, and this whole thing was totally not the technicians fault, just a note. This is the only reason they get a C for professionalism.

So I called. The woman said the customer service manager was out of the office for something and asked me the nature of my complaint. I told her everything. I took a good 10 min to tell her from start to finish, literally everything. She said, yeah I understand why you are mad and the customer service manager, Steve I think was his name, will call you back later today or maybe tomorrow morning depending on when he is out of his engagement. Ok, great thanks.

Here is the kicker--- HE NEVER CALLED ME BACK. EVER. Seriously???? I am calling to complain about customer service and your customer service guy doesn't call me back to try to fix the situation?? NEVER hire these people. It is a disaster from start to finish.
Response from Parrish Services Inc
"As always, we strive for 100% customer satisfaction. In this case, we acknowledge we made mistakes, and the Chief Operating Officer personally called the customer to apologize. And while our ability to serve this customer as they desired was limited by the home warranty coverage they had chosen, we still wanted to make things right, so our management team agreed we should offer a refund and a free preventive maintenance service for this upcoming summer season. In addition, we certainly want to address any employee issues we may have. Unfortunately, we do not have any employee (much less a manager) manager named Steve. We once had an HVAC service manager named Shawn, and our records indicate he had been responsible for some of this customer's calls, but Shawn is no longer with our company. We tried to reach this customer for further clarification but were unable to do so. For training and quality purposes, we do record all of our calls. So if the customer would like to contact us and provide us with the phone number she used to make the call(s), we will be able to retrieve the recordings and deal with the entire situation accordingly. Thank you."

We began using Parrish when we first bought our house because they were the contractor used by our home warranty service. We made a claim when our heater began making a lot of noise, Parrish was contacted and came out to diagnose the problem. The technician was very good and seemed very knowledgeable, it was the motor and fan blades in the blower, he replaced both quickly and without much fuss though it took a day to get the part and have the warranty company approve it. Based on this experience, we chose Parrish for our seasonal HVAC system checks and have used them for that ever since. We have been basically happy with this service, some technicians I have liked a lot more than others, unfortunately you don't always get the same person.
Called them the first summer when our A/C died, they couldn't get to us for 2 days. The tech who came out was great, and talked me through everything he was doing, showed me some issues with our older system but got it running again. It ran for 2 more years.
Third year, our water heater sprang a big leak in the winter. Parrish came out and replaced it within 48 hours. The techs were quick, they did a really good job and left everything clean. At the next semi-annual HVAC check the tech found that one of the gas lines they installed was rubbing against part of the HVAC system and could have sprung a leak if it hadn't been found, scary but caught in plenty of time.
The fourth year, in the middle of July, with a house full of guests and a two-week old baby, our A/C died for good. I called Parrish and they sent someone that day. The tech was very good, he took the system apart and showed me what was wrong (rusted out coils). He tried a couple of things to get it back online but to no avail, he couldn't keep it from leaking all the freon out so we decided on a new system. He called his office and they quoted me prices and time frames for different options for the fix: replace coils alone (2 weeks to get parts), replace A/C unit alone (1 week), replace entire HVAC (1 week). It was 100+ degrees outside and I have a newborn baby and you want me to wait at least a week??? I was not happy, the tech called their offices and tried to work it, turns out they could do it the next day because the baby constituted an "emergency situation". So the tech left the quote and departed. In retrospect, I wish they had offered us more options for energy efficiency in the new system, but maybe because of the urgency they just went with what was most readily available. At any rate, we swapped one system for a newer but similar system and our energy bills are the same as they were before.
The next day an "install crew" shows up (the techs that go around doing routine maintenance checks and diagnostic visits aren't the same ones who do major repairs), on time with the new system. They worked hard all day in the miserable heat and got the system up and running in the same day. Only complaints with their work: they got grubby fingerprints all over the wall where they put in the new thermostat and they scratched the heck out of our mechanical room door removing the old system. I was pretty happy with the service until I got my credit card bill a couple of weeks later and they charged me nearly $2,000 more than the quote I signed. It took a couple of phone calls but they did remove the charge from my card.
Overall, I am not unhappy with Parrish Services, but I'm not overjoyed with them either. As a repeat customer, I would rather have the same person servicing my house each time, I know this is not always possible, but just like doctors and mechanics, you want the person to have some history with whatever they're taking care of. I also would have liked to have been given more information on "greener" options when replacing major systems (HVAC, water heater) instead of simply being quoted one-for-one swap systems.
