The removal of the old unit and installation of the furnace was completed on the first day. The AC was completed the following morning with no problems. Estimates were more detailed than the final receipt but they provided an additional receipt upon request. Their estimates were one of the lower and included the equipment I selected. The staff was courteous and very thorough with the install including options (drain pan, check valve, etc.) that others were charging additional fees despite code requiring these features. They also replaced a big section of the old duct work at no cost.

Thank you very much for taking the time to rate us. We're glad you had a great experience. We like to say about code that, "It's the worst job allowed by law!" We do more than just what's required by code because we want your system to be safe, cost-effective, efficient, aesthetically pleasing, and comfortable. For these reasons, we include extras that other companies don't do unless someone asks. But if homeowners knew everything to ask, they probably wouldn't need to call a professional, right? We take pride in our work, and we're our glad you're happy with this job. We stand behind it, too, so don't hesitate to call if you have any problems at all. Thanks!

I am very satisfied with that experience. I wasn’t very happy with the price as it is really high. I was in general pretty satisfied with how they justified all the work that had to be done. After I got the quote from them on it, I did do my own research and verified that it was valid. Frankly I don’t think that the ducts of my house have ever been cleaned in 20 years. I just bought it a few years ago in that condition and it had been overdue. The outcome was good. The cleaning was good. I don’t know how effective it's going to be until 5 years from now. I had a little bit of trouble with setting up the appointment with their receptionist; she didn’t seem to understand what I was looking for.
Description of Work: I used Parrish Services to come by and do a full cleaning of my HVAC system. They cleaned out my ducts, they cleaned out the blower, and some of the components on the heat pump in my house. They are basically maintaining the equipment for my heat pump.

Thank you, Member, for taking the time to give feedback. It's great to hear you were confident our technicians were recommending appropriate services. I know some services were not exactly cheap, but we hope you ultimately believe in the value. For example, your duct cleaning shouldn't have to repeated every year (please change your filters regularly, though!). Unlike most duct cleaning companies, we use more sophisticated (and thus more expensive) equipment that does more than just push dirt around. If you ever have a question or concern about our the value of our services or your individual recommendations, please feel free to call us (7 days a week, 8a-8p) or submit a contact form from our website. We want repeat customers like you, and we want them all to feel like raving fans! Thanks so much for your business.

Initially they came w an estimate, howeverit required 3 more phone calls over 3 weeks to get a scheduled completion date. Once there, work was done in 10 hours, replaced concrete and cleaned up. Very satisfied with the work.
Description of Work: Ropened up concrete basement floor to.replace old leaking cast iron pipes, old broken Terra cotta pipes, circa 1943, that were left open to sewer and leaking, had corroded the cast iron. Replaced 21 feet of iron plus 2 stacks with new PVC. Evaluated plumbing in basement to laundry and gave proposal to correct deficits. The technician was.polite knowledgeable and very customer service oriented.

Badly...do not use this company. They are incompetent. You will wait and get no service.
Description of Work: I called yesterday and scheduled an appointment for today. The range was between 3-5 and I came home from work and waited. They called to say that the plumber would be near the end of the window. Then the plumber called at the end of the window and said it would be about an hour. It is now and hour and 20 minutes past the scheduled window. I just called and canceled. I am very disappointed with this service. Do not bother wasting your time with this company. Now I have to start all over. Thanks a lot!!!!

We're sorry we were running late for the member's call and made her wait longer than expected. We know that's disappointing and certainly not good service, and we certainly deserve poor marks in this area for this call. We do, however, have very competent, professional plumbers on staff, and we offer reasonable pricing. All of our plumbers, HVAC techs, and electricians are highly trained as well as background checked and drug screened. In addition, we offer service with no overtime charges all the way until 8 pm, 7 days a week. I'm sorry we weren't able to reach the member quickly enough so she could experience our service first hand. We've called and offered to make things right, so we hope to hear from her soon.

The service fee included a mandatory $107 (I think) fee to show up and diagnose the problem. The remainder of the fee was for service and parts. The lady who took my call for an appointment was easy to work with. She was able to quickly pull up my address and data from prior calls. She even took care of coordinate the timing of the repair by directly calling my tenant and only calling me back for billing and price quotes. The service tech called me and was able to explain the problem and the diagnosis in simple english. I approved the estimated cost, which turned out to be exactly the amount eventually billed to me.Given the nature of the leak, I didn't have time to shop around for pricing, so I went back to Parrish. I have used them a few times before for repairs on my properties, and my history with them has been identical to this recent visit. They always seem to be very courteous on the phone, prompt with showing up the same day or the same week, and completing the repair correctly the first time. With this track record, I expect to keep using Parrish for repairs on my properties.
Description of Work: I had a water leak that puddled and came through the ceiling of the second floor in a 3 level townhouse (I'm the landlord and I have a tenant living at the property). I called on a Friday morning, and the service tech showed up the same day (evening). He was able to cut the drywall in the ceiling and trace the leak to a leaky PVC joint in the master bath on the top floor. This was repaired by cutting another drywall in the master closet to access the piping behind the bathtub in the master bath. The damaged/leaking portion of the PVC was replaced, thereby stopping the leak.

You will want to read this before even considering calling these people. This was by far my worst experience ever with home repair. I left this experience feeling angry and annoyed. I had no choice in using them because they were the company that worked with my home warranty company. I did not renew with my previous home warranty company simply because I did not want to ever have to deal with these people again. Let me just note that this was going on during the hottest part of the summer when the temps were exceeding 100+ My a/c was blowing out warm air and my house not cooling off. So the home warranty company contacted them and they came out the next day. The first tech they sent out just checked the freon levels and said they were low. He refilled it. He told me "well it may be a leak, but it doesn't look like one so I will just refill the freon and everything should be fine," then he goes on to trying to sell me some $700 thing for yearly maintenance. So this was mistake number one-I am not an HVAC technician, I assume if the guy tells me there isn't a leak, there isn't one. Anyway everything is fine for about a week. Of course, the air starts blowing hot again. Again, it's over 100 degrees outside. So I call back to my home warranty company telling them that the problem was not fixed and that it was imperative that I get a tech out ASAP because my house was 87 degrees and I had two small children with no where to go. It took Parrish 2 days to get out there. I even called Parrish telling them how important it was because I had a 4 month old baby! They just said sorry they would be there when they scheduled. Really?? You should have fixed it right the first time and now I am waiting 2 days in a 90 degree house with 2 small children! Anyway a new tech comes back, which my husband said was an awesome tech; nonetheless, he detected a leak in my coil within 2 seconds with this freon detector gun. Why couldn't the first guy have done that the first time??? Anyway he said that he would have to order the part and it could take up to a week for it to come in because my system was old. That is ok, totally understandable. I am not upset with the fact that we had to wait for the part because that was out of anyone's control. BUT here is the straw that broke the camels back-- they call me to Wednesday tell me the part would be in Thursday and they wanted to schedule an installation first thing Friday morning. I said ok! Great thanks for the punctuality. So thursday evening comes along and I get another call from Parrish-- "Oh we are sorry, actually we need to send a tech out to measure the coil and then it needs to be welded so it can't be installed for another 24 hours, so actually a tech will come out to measure on friday morning." ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? This whole week I was waiting for the part to come in you people could have sent out a tech to measure so that as soon as the coil came in they could weld or whatever they had to do and they could have come and put it in later in the afternoon on Friday. SO NOW I was another 3 days without a/c and they came on the following monday. Wow, seriously? I was so incredibly livid. So while I was staying with my grandmother, I decided to call Parrish to let them know how incredibly angry and disappointed I was with the customer service I was receiving. They made three mistakes---all in the dead of summer with temps exceeding over 100---First, why didn't the initial tech check for a leak to avoid all of this! Second, why did they make us wait 2 days to get service on a problem that they should have initially fixed? Third, why didn't they have someone come out and measure the coil during the whole 7 days they were waiting for it? The last 3 techs we dealt with were very nice and professional, and this whole thing was totally not the technicians fault, just a note. This is the only reason they get a C for professionalism. So I called. The woman said the customer service manager was out of the office for something and asked me the nature of my complaint. I told her everything. I took a good 10 min to tell her from start to finish, literally everything. She said, yeah I understand why you are mad and the customer service manager, Steve I think was his name, will call you back later today or maybe tomorrow morning depending on when he is out of his engagement. Ok, great thanks. Here is the kicker--- HE NEVER CALLED ME BACK. EVER. Seriously???? I am calling to complain about customer service and your customer service guy doesn't call me back to try to fix the situation?? NEVER hire these people. It is a disaster from start to finish.
Description of Work: At first it was refilling freon, later it became a coil replacement.

As always, we strive for 100% customer satisfaction. In this case, we acknowledge we made mistakes, and the Chief Operating Officer personally called the customer to apologize. And while our ability to serve this customer as they desired was limited by the home warranty coverage they had chosen, we still wanted to make things right, so our management team agreed we should offer a refund and a free preventive maintenance service for this upcoming summer season. In addition, we certainly want to address any employee issues we may have. Unfortunately, we do not have any employee (much less a manager) manager named Steve. We once had an HVAC service manager named Shawn, and our records indicate he had been responsible for some of this customer's calls, but Shawn is no longer with our company. We tried to reach this customer for further clarification but were unable to do so. For training and quality purposes, we do record all of our calls. So if the customer would like to contact us and provide us with the phone number she used to make the call(s), we will be able to retrieve the recordings and deal with the entire situation accordingly. Thank you.

Never on time for appointments. I have had three appointments scheduled; each one the person did not come at the allotted time. So I ended up having to go in to work; then they called me later complaining that I was not there even though it was not during the time they were supposed to come. Finally we ended up going with another plumber who actually showed upon time. The other problem with Parrish is that they described all these problems that they thought we had and that we needed to get this elaborate service plan and they said that our basement was potentially going to flood because of our water heater and we needed a water softener because of the quality of the water. When I talked to another plumber they said we did not have any of these problems and that we could get the water heater that I wanted without a softener so I just makes me question if Parrish is just trying to upsell people and make more money.

We began using Parrish when we first bought our house because they were the contractor used by our home warranty service. We made a claim when our heater began making a lot of noise, Parrish was contacted and came out to diagnose the problem. The technician was very good and seemed very knowledgeable, it was the motor and fan blades in the blower, he replaced both quickly and without much fuss though it took a day to get the part and have the warranty company approve it. Based on this experience, we chose Parrish for our seasonal HVAC system checks and have used them for that ever since. We have been basically happy with this service, some technicians I have liked a lot more than others, unfortunately you don't always get the same person. Called them the first summer when our A/C died, they couldn't get to us for 2 days. The tech who came out was great, and talked me through everything he was doing, showed me some issues with our older system but got it running again. It ran for 2 more years. Third year, our water heater sprang a big leak in the winter. Parrish came out and replaced it within 48 hours. The techs were quick, they did a really good job and left everything clean. At the next semi-annual HVAC check the tech found that one of the gas lines they installed was rubbing against part of the HVAC system and could have sprung a leak if it hadn't been found, scary but caught in plenty of time. The fourth year, in the middle of July, with a house full of guests and a two-week old baby, our A/C died for good. I called Parrish and they sent someone that day. The tech was very good, he took the system apart and showed me what was wrong (rusted out coils). He tried a couple of things to get it back online but to no avail, he couldn't keep it from leaking all the freon out so we decided on a new system. He called his office and they quoted me prices and time frames for different options for the fix: replace coils alone (2 weeks to get parts), replace A/C unit alone (1 week), replace entire HVAC (1 week). It was 100+ degrees outside and I have a newborn baby and you want me to wait at least a week??? I was not happy, the tech called their offices and tried to work it, turns out they could do it the next day because the baby constituted an "emergency situation". So the tech left the quote and departed. In retrospect, I wish they had offered us more options for energy efficiency in the new system, but maybe because of the urgency they just went with what was most readily available. At any rate, we swapped one system for a newer but similar system and our energy bills are the same as they were before. The next day an "install crew" shows up (the techs that go around doing routine maintenance checks and diagnostic visits aren't the same ones who do major repairs), on time with the new system. They worked hard all day in the miserable heat and got the system up and running in the same day. Only complaints with their work: they got grubby fingerprints all over the wall where they put in the new thermostat and they scratched the heck out of our mechanical room door removing the old system. I was pretty happy with the service until I got my credit card bill a couple of weeks later and they charged me nearly $2,000 more than the quote I signed. It took a couple of phone calls but they did remove the charge from my card. Overall, I am not unhappy with Parrish Services, but I'm not overjoyed with them either. As a repeat customer, I would rather have the same person servicing my house each time, I know this is not always possible, but just like doctors and mechanics, you want the person to have some history with whatever they're taking care of. I also would have liked to have been given more information on "greener" options when replacing major systems (HVAC, water heater) instead of simply being quoted one-for-one swap systems.
Description of Work: Have had them do the following over the last 4 years: - replace HVAC fan motor (home warranty work) - When A/C quit - HVAC fall and spring system checks - replace water heater - replace HVAC system

The call for an estimate went well. Until we got to the very end where they required a fee of $107 for the estimate (unless of course I decided on-the-spot to go with them ... in which case it would be deducted from my total.) I don't agree with charges for estimates and I don't use companies that have that policy. There are plenty that do not charge.
Description of Work: I was required to use Parrish Services previously for Home Warranty calls. I was generally impressed. I called Parrish services for an estimate to move some components of my HVAC and water heater. After a call to schedule an estimate I discovered that they do indeed have a fee for estimates.

I feel that they’re incredibly good at billing, but not as good as providing a professional, reliable service. At one point, they had a collections service come after me because they said they performed a service that wasn’t covered by my insurance. At that time, I was making regular, timely payments towards my annual service contract. Overall, I was really underwhelmed by them. What’s more, I had to have another company fix issues they weren’t able to able to resolve after four separate service calls.

Parrish is great, very informative, knowledgeable and professional. I would highly recommend them to anyone. I'm very please with my experience. I look forward to working with them for years to come. Thank you Parrish!!!
Description of Work: I called Parrish when my a/c unit quit working. They came out the same day, the technicians diagnosed the problem within 20 minutes. He replaced some parts and explained everything he did in detail. He was great!!! We have two units in our home and they are 11 years old. All we have done is replaced filters. I don't know what had been done to the hvac before we bought in 2006. The technician explained the importance of keeping the units maintained properly, which makes sense. I did a little research on maintaining HVAC and decided to buy a maintenance program from Parrish. As long as we do our part, then most everything should be covered under my plan. He also explained that my unts aren't really powerful enough for the size of the house . He gave me a quote on 2 Trane units, I googled them and they are one of, if not, the best out there. He wasn't pushy about trying to sell them to me at all. We had already noticed in the winter that the units don't heat the house properly and in the summer you have to set the thermostat down to about 68 just to make it feel like 76 in the house. I researched prices on these units and Parrish was a little higher, but we have decided to go with them. They have an impeccable reputation of standing behind there products and services.

2nd floor air conditioner stopped cooling and temp was above 90 degrees. First available appointment was 10 days after my call. When service person came as scheduled, he inspected outside and told me that my heat pump had been installed incorrectly and was very dirty. This is a new home which passed inspection 100%, and the A/C heat pump is sheltered by a deck floor and lattice walls when many heat pumps are out in the open. This system worked just fine for 5 years with no issues until this year. So this comment about the heat pump installation gave me pause. However, he said he could clean the housing and it would help because that was a good part of the problem. He then inspected the attic equipment. [The attic is accessed from the Master bedroom closet, and he left fiberglass insulation on my clothes and closet floor.] The repairman told me he found a mess in my attic - a freon leak and some wiring issues which appeared to him to be another botched job. Again, this caused me concern since I had hired my own independent inspector to go over all systems when I bought this house and nothing of the kind was reported. He said he would repair all and this should fix the problem. The total bill was over $300 which was much higher than I expected. The A/C seemed to be repaired until last week, and it stopped cooling again. Since the service provided was warrantied for 90 days, my home warranty company contacted Parrish for a recall on the original service provided. After waiting a day and 1/2 for Parrish to respond to the work order, I called the number given to me. I gave the work order number which had been sent to Parrish to the person who answers their phone. I explained the problem and the 90-day warranty and told her that someone should have contacted me to set up an appointment by now, and that I was following up to be sure the work order had not been overlooked. She placed me on hold for over 10 minutes, and when she returned she told me THEY WOULD NOT BE COMING TO FIX THE ISSUE - REGARDLESS OF THE 90-DAY WARRANTY - BECAUSE THEY NO LONGER SERVICE PROPERTIES IN MY AREA. That's it - and no one had bothered to pick up the phone and call to let me or the home warranty company know. So, I pulled up their website, and, just as I suspected, my city and zip code ARE listed as being in their service area. I was dumbfounded. In the first place, I don't expect to have to pay additional fees when I have service completed under my home warranty. But, when I do pay for services they say are necessary, and then they reassure me by providing a 90-day service warranty, I take that to mean that they will stand by that service, regardless what changes they may make to their operation after the warranty is given. In this case, it certainly looked to me that not only did they not provide me with the service I paid for - or why is my A/C not working now? - but they reassured me with a 90-day warranty that was meaningless. Further, they told me they no longer service my area, but had not removed my area from their web site. I can only surmise that this was said in order to avoid living up to their 90-day service warranty. I contacted my home warranty provider and explained what had happened. They commented that providers who sign up to be called under home warranties understand the requirements and should not be surprised when they are expected to live up to their agreements. However, in order to be sure I receive service, they said they would deal with Parrish off-line and asked if I would like to work with them to select another provider, Fresh Air Concepts. I looked on Angie's list and found Fresh Air is rated A and so I agreed. I just spoke to them, and even though they are almost 1 hour away from my home, they are coming tomorrow morning. I will update this post as well as post on their listing once their service call is complete.
Description of Work: 1) A/C stopped cooling in May, 2011. This is an electric air conditioner system associated with a heat pump which was provided with my single-family home, which I bought new about 5 years ago. 2) Service is to be provided on covered systems for a fee of $50 and the home warranty covers additional costs. 3) First available appointment was not for 10 days. Repairman came as scheduled. 4) Repairman did inspection and then told me that repairs were necessary that were not covered by my home warranty. I wasn't happy, but it was very hot and he seemed honest enough. He told me I shouldn't worry because all of the work he was doing would be warrantied and he would come back if needed. 5) He made repairs, the cost of which far exceeded the $50 I expected to pay under my home warranty. He gave me paperwork which indicated that the work he did was guarranteed for 90-days. This was a separate and specific warranty on the service provided by Parrish that day.

Response from Parrish Services Inc
As with all of our customers, we strive to provide excellent service and certainly resolve all disputes. We contacted this customer by phone, but the homeowner answered the call, made a brief statement, and hung up. They also chose not to respond to our emails. We are sorry we have been unable to satisfactorily address this complaint. As to the details of the call, there are quite a few discrepancies between our records and the narrative. We performed work for this customer in May on behalf of a home warranty company. During the service call, we repaired work performed as part of a sub-par installation provided by a different contractor. And while the home may have "passed" inspection, that designation means only the unit was working and it met code (by definition, the worst job you can do by law...). It does not mean it was a quality installation or that there is no maintenance required. Because there were no parts used on the call and the installation was not performed by Parrish, the service is under a standard 30 day labor-only warranty offered by her home warranty company. If someone at the home warranty company told the homeowner something different, they either: a) didn't have the facts about the call; or b) they themselves were misinformed. Lastly, during the call the homeowner opted to refuse any recommended maintenance or repairs. This customer then called her home warranty company 60 days later for different problem but expected the work to be performed for free; hence the complaint. Both the home warranty company and Parrish have honored their contracts and delivered all the services for which we have been compensated. We'll be happy to address the homeowner's concerns if they would like to contact us. The easiest way to do so is by going to our website www.parrishservices.com and submitting one of the online forms.

The technician managed to miss the fact that 40 gallons of water had collected in the plenum underneath my air handler. Rather than checking or cleaning the drain line he tried to sell me on $1000 worth of semi-related cleaning services that did nothing to address the problem. If I hadn't opened the unit up again after he'd left my basement would have flooded. To be fair, previous technicians have seemed competent and friendly, but the performance on this occasion was unacceptable. UPDATE: Per Parrish's response below, their sales manager responded very promptly (before the next business day) to the Angie's List report and sent out an experienced technician at no charge, who diagnosed and resolved the problem. Hopefully the initial failure was a one-time issue. I certainly can't fault their response when they became aware of the problem.
Description of Work: I have had a maintenance contract with Parrish Services for two HVAC system checks per year and a discount on additional services for a small monthly fee. My A/C unit had been dripping, so I had a tech come out to inspect the system and diagnose potential problems.

We contacted the member about his concerns and apologized for the poor service. While the member had performed some cleaning and flushing on his own, we asked if he would mind having us return to the home to make sure everything was, in fact, in good working order. Our technician was able to professionally clean and flush the drain line giving the member greater peace of mind. We also made a few routine maintenance recommendations and provided a free water sensing alarm. All of this was, of course, at no charge. We apologize for the inconvenience.

My air conditioning unit is only 7 years old, but my furnace is 16 years old so i was expecting some concerns about the furnace. They arrived on time and seemed knowledgeable. However, it seemed to be a big sales job to get me to buy a whole new system. They were unwilling to discuss just the furnace separately and they kept trying to play to my emotions scaring me that the unit was unsafe and that it doesn't make sense to do only a partial job. i ended up calling another place and was much happier. I would not call them again, I just don't trust what they say.
Description of Work: I called Parrish to come out and give me an estimate for service on my heating and air conditioning unit. Even though my heating and air conditioning unit are working fine, i am selling my house and wanted the units inspected.

We're sorry to hear the member was disappointed with free estimate we provided. Parrish had installed the air conditioning unit, and was thus familiar with the equipment. Unfortunately, the units hadn't been serviced for a few years, and the air conditioning, while relatively new, does not meet today's government requirements for R410A refrigerant and minimum 13 SEER efficiency. As licensed, experienced, safety-conscious HVAC professionals, it is not only our desire, but our responsibility, to make homeowners aware of all potential problems and to make appropriate recommendations. I am sorry we did such a poor job of communicating these concerns to her such that the recommendations seemed scary or untrustworthy. If there is anything we can do at this point to rectify the situation, we will be happy to work with her.

This is the third time recently we had Parrish Services out to do electrical work. The first time was a warranty call for a ceiling fan. Our warranty company referred them for this work. The technician that came was Tread, we were so comortable and impressed with Tread that we asked him while here to do a quote for some renovation work we were doing. He gave us a a fair and precise quote for the work and scheduled a date to do the work. He came to do that work and we were thrilled with the results. He also checked on another electrical concern we had and was able to adjust that while here at no extra charge. The third visit came last week where we had Tread do some adjustments on some home-owner installations that needed some professional help! He was not critical of the work we had done and was able to make the adjustments and have us back up in running with no difficulty. He is both professional and friendly and a delight to have in your home. I recommend Parrish Services and more importantly ask for Tread, he is a delight.
Description of Work: 1st visit: repair ceiling fan 2nd visit: remodeling work, move location of ceiling lights in Kitchen, installed electric and light over island and sink. 3rd visit: installed bathroom fan, worked on connections in two other rooms for dimmers and switch plates.

The previous owners had a service contract with them for heating and air conditioning, for service and maintenance of the heating system in the spring and fall. They do a great job. They were punctual, professional and did the job well. They were reasonably priced and I will continue to use their services in future.
Description of Work: I used the services of Parrish Services to clean the contacts on the heating unit, during the fall last year.

When I explained my request, a very knowledgeable representative got on the phone, asked some specific questions, and was able to advise me that the area where my water heater was located was not suitable for installation of a tax-qualifying water heater. I appreciated learning that the unit that I needed to install to earn a tax credit would require that I relocate my water heater to a separate area, which, of course, could not be accomplished before the end of the year. Clearly, these folks knew what they were talking about, and I appreciate their saving me the time of further searching for something that was not feasible.
Description of Work: I was searching for someone who could replace my electric water heater with one that would meet the federal tax credit requirements before the end of 2010.
