NV Waterproofing & Foundation Repair

The price was high, but the work was worth every penny. We've had several rainstorms with several inches of water in a day and our problem area in the basement is as dry as a bone. They worked with us on getting an exact quote for the work we wanted and the team that came out was very thoughtful and professional in their work. If I could afford it I would have them do the entire house. The office staff, the sales person that does the estimate, and the foreman and his team are all professional and responsive. We got quotes from 3 other companies, some cheaper, but we felt they provided the best solution and service.

After needing to gut our entire basement due to mold and water issues, we looked for companies that could do everything from the waterproofing to the rebuild. We were not happy with the pricing we were receiving until we contacted NV Waterproofing. The rep came and talk with us about what we had seen with water penetration and other areas of concern in our basement and explained their process. We had talked with him about the differences between their quote and some of the others that we had received and he noted that based on the size of our basement there wasn't a need for a second sump pump system. Additionally, we had only seen water in one of the wells so instead of having each of our windows having separate drain, we only had one for the one window with issues. They started promptly on the first day and handled the removal of various parts of the remaining basement (including the fireplace hearth). They had the job wrapped up in two days. I was able to catch them on the last day to reenforce the major problem area that we had seen previously (a fireplace clean out). Since work has been done, we haven't seen any issues with water in the basement and we have had several big rain producing storms since then. We are not rebuilding the basement and I have little fear of water cause damage again.

I got NV Waterproofing's info from the 2012Fairfax County Best Pick Report, so my expectations were high about fixing a persistent basement leak in my rental home. After a reasonable delay in answering my call and another to schedule a visit to compile an estimate, I met with the representative to review work to be done at this house and another rental. The representative was courteous and knowledgable and recommended treatments to the outside of both properties' foundations. When he sent the estimates, though, there was an estimate for only one house. When I asked why, he e-mailed that since he'd recommended other work at the first house, he wouldn't provide an estimate until it was performed. Strange. He seemed to think that I wasn't serious. I replied that the work would be performed, but it's been three weeks and another e-mail exchange without an estimate. Frankly, I've moved to another solution ($100.00 in materials to mitigate the problem before winter storm Nemo) and am extremely disappointed in NV's non-performance. I know others have had great results, so maybe Mr. McCabe just isn't having a great month. I hope your experience is better.

They were detailed and comprehensive, but they did not have any lower cost options.

Do make sure you review your work order before they begin work on the day of work. I had agreed to exterior waterproofing plus 2 downspouts. The workers arrived prepared to do all 4 downspouts. If I had not been there, the work would have been done which costs extra.

We had a small leak in the unfinished portion of our basement as a result of Hurricane Sandy. I called NV Waterproofing based on the reviews in Angie's List. While hey were backed up quite a bit with wet basements from the storm, they scheduled someone to give us an estimate within a few weeks of my call. He was a little late for our appointment, but he had called in advance to let me know. He pulled away the basement insulation and showed me the crack, which had been previously repaired. Since we are the original owners of the home, the wall must have cracked during construction and the builder used an epoxy injection to repair it. The builder never revealed to us during our walk-through inspection that they had repaired a crack. He explained how this crack re-appeared and then went over the two different options: use an epoxy injection from the interior or dig up the landscaping and do an exterior repair. He also explained the prices and benefits of each process. Since we didn't want to tear out landscaping to have the repair done, we chose the interior repair. We were scheduled for the repair on 13 December, and they showed up right on time (in fact, they were a little early, which worked out great for me). They got right to work and removed the old epoxy and completed the repair. They did a great job -- I can tell the difference between the repair NV just finished and the repair the builder had previously done. It took about 1.5 - 2 hours from start to finish.

Company was professional and punctual. They kept us informed on the process and scheduling and did the job as stated. Was very happy with company.

Short experience. Contacted them, they did the job when they said and did good.

Was the most professional and clean service. They jackhammered the entire perimeter daily for approx. 2 days. When they left in the evening the dust and all was cleaned up and all major stone removed. As a mother with children it was very safely and neatly done. The workers were extremely courteous and professional. It was a beautiful job and it has been over 5 years and NO FLOODING has occurred. Prior to this being done we were flooding every time it rained. So our basement is dry and clean.

A minor delay on the start day proved not to be a problem as the NV Waterproofing crew worked until 8:00 to ensure that the project stayed on schedule. Dust and debris from jack-hammering was far less than anticipated. In short, it was a satisfying experience to have a contractor that put so much attention into customer satisfaction. I cannot find fault worth mentioning without sounding picky from the start to final clean-up of the work site.

Has a leak in the basement. I called up NV waterproofing. They got a guy out here the next day, he went through the entire process with me. Was very knowledgable, he was just a little to expensive for me at this time. I would call again for an estimate or potentially service if the prices came down.

The work on the foundation took two days (it should have been done in 1 day. The actual workers did a good job, unfortunately most of the time there was only one person on site. NV Waterproofing had to return about 9 months later when we noticed that the soil had settled about 2 feet below grade at the corner of the house. They came out added additional soil at no cost. We have not experienced any additional water issues in the basement foundation since the work was completed last year.

The first day (Monday), Roberto (the supervisor) showed up at around 10:00 am. His crew didn't show up until around 11:30 am. They took a lot of care to hang heavy plastic sheets, which protected a lot of things in my basement from getting very dirty. They had to break up the basement floor with jack hammers, which created a lot of cement dust. They covered part of my yard and mostly my neighbor's yard with heavy plastic before excavating the front corner of my yard, in order to get to the cracked wall. They had to remove an Azalea bush of my neighbor's, which was necessary for the excavation. They also had to remove a strip of grass from my yard and my neighbor's, in order to lay the downspout extensions. The excavated hole was something to look at. What a mess! At the end of the first day, it started raining. They covered the hole with plastic and tied yellow "caution" tape around the excavated area. They used what ever they could find for stakes to hold up the tape. Because of rain, the next day, no work was done. I was concerned that neighborhood kids (who kept coming over to look at the hole) would either start throwing the dug up clay or would fall in the hole. Luckily, none of that happened. The third day (Wednesday), the excavated wall had been cleaned up, sealed and was waterproofed. The hole was filled. In the basement, the mold was scrubbed and the crack in the wall filled with hydraulic cement. The sump pump was also installed. The crew cleaned up everything and removed all the plastic sheets. Even the Azalea bush which was removed from my neighbor's yard was replanted and is alive today (3 weeks later). It was out of the ground for 2 days). Everything on the third day took only about 6 1/2 hours. I was amazed. Once I notified the lender the work was completed, they sent the appraiser back for a final inspection. He was satisfied with the work. We refinanced our mortgages. Yippee!!!

I was disappointed that I did not receive an estimate.

After securing 3 estimates, we decided on NV Waterproofing to complete the job. The workers arrived on time, got started promptly and finished the job in one day! A trench was dug across the interior front of our town house, with minimal dust and debris. All debris was cleaned up as the workers went along. The run-off line and pop-up was done so well, you can hardly tell where the pop-up is!. The workers were kind enough to remove a troublesome bush that was in the way, at no charge. We are throroughly happy with the job that was done. Now we can replace the flooring in that front room without worrying about dampness from under the front wall.

While NV was initially late about providing an estimate for the work to be provided, we ultimately decided to use them for the job. The owner, John Forster, was responsive not only to our initial concerns about the length of time it took to get the estimate, but also about our desire to get the job done right. The crew John sent out to do the job (which we used an Angie's List discount coupon for) was professional, hardworking and efficient in their work. When they ran into a problem, we were able to reach John immediately to discuss. The supervisor for the job, Walter, came out, diagnosed the problem, and got to work with his crew. They left the worksite neat and clean. While it is too soon to know for sure that the work done was effective (just finished yesterday, waiting for some heavy rains!), we do know that the owner of the company (and his office staff, including especially Jane) were responsive, that the work crew was at the job on time and worked hard through the next day until the job was done -- leaving our property neat. In addition, the price they quoted was the price they intended to charge (we applied the coupon after the fact), unlike some other companies that we got estimates from, with at least one estimator indicating we could negotiate the price down, not to worry. We appreciated NV's straightforward approach.

They told me that I didn't need to do anything because the problem wasn't as bad as I thought it was. They were very honest. They could have charged me a lot of money to do something that was not really needed.

I received three estimates and appreciated this company's knowledge about the issue, and honesty in not including things that I really didn't need. They did the job within 16 days after I signed the contract because I really wanted to have my basement finished before Christmas. Both Jim McCabe and Roberto Moreira were excellent, answered my questions, and provided workable solutions. Two days after the install, we got more heavy rain, and the system has performed wonderfully.

From start to finish NV Waterproofing did an outstanding job! Yes it did take about 5 weeks from the time I called to schedule and estimate until the appointment, and yes it did take about a month from the estimate until the actual wrok -- but it was worth the wait. Jim McCabe arrived for the appointment on-time, he was professional and listened to what I told him about the problems I was encountering with leaking from a small area of the cove and flooding from a window well. His estimate and attention to detail in evaluation and proposed solution is appreciated. I also appreciate that he was the only person to provide me with an estimate that was not trying to sell me something more that I needed. I contracted NV Waterproofing and the work was scheduled for about 4 weeks later. Walter Saravia and his crew arrived on time to do the work. Walter and all the crew that worked on the project were fantastic! They did a great job and were professional, courteous, and treated my home like it was their own home. When Walter arrived we did a walk through of the project and several times during the day he kept me informed of the progress he and his crew were making. At the completion of the project Walter walked me through what was done, how the new sump pump operated, and he left me his business card so if I had any quesions or problems I am to call him directly. NV Waterproofing did a first class job and I would definitely would use them again.

After our basement flooded after extremely heavy rains in September, we had several companies come out to give us a quote on how to fix our recurring problem. NV Waterproofing came out to assess the situation (my grade of 'A' for punctuality is based on that they were on time for this initial appointment). The solution they proposed to our problem was our favorite approach. They said they would send us a quote. When we didn't hear back from them, we contacted them to ask for the quote. They said they would send it...but never did! (It has since been more than 6 weeks so I don't expect them to call us at this point!) We ended up contacting one of the other companies we'd received a quote from, explained how we wanted to solve our flooding problem and they gave us a revised quote based on that approach, which we accepted. I guess it's NV's loss!

They did a wonderful job, are very nice people to work with and everyone in the company was very professional and hard-working. They were always there when they said they would be. They are very busy (because they're good) so there is some lead time in scheduling.

Waiting to schedule, hopefully no later than 12/01/11. I will reply about the performance afterwards.

Rep was very professional and proposed a top quality job with warranty. As a result, we went with NV rather than lower priced bidder. Rep was willing to negotiate somewhat on price. Installers arrived right on schedule and were also professional.

I contacted NV Waterproofing based on reviews on Angie's List for a proposal for an exterior French drain and waterproofing the exterior foundation walls. They scheduled an appointment 2 weeks out saying that was the earliest available appointment. They called to confirm the appointment a day before and then no one showed up or called. When I called on the day of the appointment I only got the answering service.
