 + -1 moreI used My Truck Buddy 3 years ago for my previous move and was just astounded with the service that I had to call them for all my subsequent moves. Fast forward to last month, and I was just as surprised then as I was now, they showed up 15 minutes early (which they worked and didn?t bill), literally ran between loads from house to truck, wrapped big items completely unsolicited with speed and prudence, and working with virtually autonomy as they populated rooms in the new house just as they were in the old house. We came in at or under the lower bound of the quote they provided me, which was below its peers to begin with. While this was a different team than the one I had three years ago, they had the exact same philosophy, "work your butt off." Without a doubt I?m a customer for life of MTB.
Description of Work: Moved from a 3 bedroom 1200 sqft townhome to 3 bedroom 2100 sqft single family home.

 + -1 moreMTB was extremely responsive with providing the estimate and answering my mom's questions. On the day of the move, they called ahead of time asking if they could arrive early. The three movers were super: professional, efficient, polite, and friendly. It wasn't a big move - mostly several pieces of furniture because my mom had moved everything she could herself. Nevertheless, the furniture to be moved was all antique. Some it had marble tops and one piece was mostly glass. They did a really good job and didn't damage anything. We got two other estimates before choosing MTB (the two other companies we considered were also on Angieslist). MTB's estimate was a third of the other two so that was a big reason for us to pick them. Plus, their estimate of the time it would take was more in keeping with what we expected. And they didn't charge for the time it took for them to get to my mom's place. We couldn't have been happier.
Description of Work: MTB moved my mom from her one bedroom apartment to another apartment on the same floor.

 + -1 moreGreat experience with My Truck Buddy! The movers were friendly, professional and had a great attitude about the 4th floor walk-up they were moving me out of. They were efficient and got everything done in great time. They showed up right on time (to the minute!) and the total bill was right in the middle range of the estimate provided when I first confirmed the job. Estimate, scheduling and communication with the office was great as well. I would definitely use My Truck Buddy again.

 + -1 moreThe attitude of this tight group could not have been better. A move isn't pleasant, and when one sees those who are doing the heavy lifting without complaints (and a smile on their face), one might be astonished. It's impossible to fake this kind of attitude when you've carried the heaviest filing cabinet down 13 stairs and across a room to place it. We then decided that entry through the garage might be easier on everyone but, unfortunately, a contractor who worked in my house for nine months managed to damage the door to the point where it couldn't be opened. His workmen weren't careful in lifting the door straight up, and rolled it at an angle, damaging the rollers on the left side. I had thought they'd found a clever way of locking it after leaving (as they didn't have the key), but alas, the damage was because of careless abuse. The merry men then embarked upon attempting to repair the door sufficiently in order to be able to open it, and didn't miss a beat. They placed items where my friend, Professional Organizer and Interior Designer extraordinaire, Wendy Lambrechts, asked them to (She deserves a page on Angie's List but has more business than she can handle through talk of her exploits by satisfied (repeat)customers. She can be reached at 703-585-7156 and does everything from move planning to accounting.) These movers were nicely/appropriately dressed (for moving) -- no slouching pants and oversize t-shirts. They could carry a conversation and were self-motivated. I can understand why they have been earning rave reviews for their services. No one likes to move, but it helps to have a nice, intelligent, efficient mover with an upbeat attitude. At the end of the move, after a long, hard day, they even helped us move some plastic bags of construction debris that had been close to the garage door entrance. It may not surprise anyone here that I am still unpacking from the move around a year ago.
Description of Work: My Truck Buddy did no less than save the day for me. I had to move my household goods (i.e. empty completely) a condominium in which my late husband and I had lived during his final illness in order to move back into the home we had lived in for more than two decades. The condo had always been too small for the contents, which ranged from a piano to a shop vise by way of a complete "batterie de cuisine," home office, media center, and two terrace gardens. To complete this not inconsiderable list was the ancient, fragile, large and heavy French family heirloom furniture. Did I mention there was also a library? Walking around our 1299 sq.ft. condo was a challenge. David Swain, who manages the merry band of moving men in these parts, could not have been more professional in his demeanor. He came to the condo to assess what needed to be moved -- especially the antique heirloom furniture - and we agreed to be in touch when we were ready to start transferring these goods back to my home. It was all destined to be moved back into the house whence it came which already contained plenty of furnishings that wouldn't fit when the migration to the condo from a four-bedroom house took place six years earlier. There were several filing cabinets, which are heavy enough in themselves, but one was filled with metal tools, making it particularly challenging. Nothing daunted this wonderful group under the baton of Maestro Swain, who himself lent a hand in the work to the extent that his back, damaged recently before this move, could tolerate it. There was also antique heirloom family furniture that belonged to my late husband's family. It is heavy, large, and very delicate. A crown top on a several hundred year old "Armoire Normandy" had vanished after the first load of furniture was delivered, but the merry men located it where they'd safely stored it in my condo, and where I somehow couldn't find it. If I recall correctly, the move took part in a few installments as it was necessary to place items in the house before coming to add more boxes. We moved one full day and, if I recall, two half-days. If I find my information is incorrect as I go through receipts, I'll edit this and make a correction to both the cost of t he move and the dates. I hereby grant my permission for you to get in touch with MyTruckBuddy to have them share these figures with you. The provider also kindly lent use some boxes as we had underestimated how much there was to move. It is empowering to work at a job everyone hates when assisted by a team of gentlemen with a "can do" attitude. Their intelligence, resourcefulness, curiosity (some of us discussed books as the only part of the home that had been unpacked by the second delivery was my library). I believe some of these gentlemen were ex-military and others had pursued some years of college or enough to earn a degree.

 + -1 moreThey arrived about 30 minutes early, which was great. They stayed very organized and accepted the few items I had. I have a multi-piece desk, but could not get it fully did assembled. They deserve medals for getting that thing out of the new place and into the new, because it was an unstable beast. Everything arrived undamaged. The two guys were polite and friendly. Well done!

 + 0 moreMy Truck Buddy was great. The 3 guys arrived early - which was a plus because we were ready to move. They moved the furniture and some boxes out of a tight basement apartment without damaging anything. They wrapped the furniture in plastic and loaded it in the truck. The new apartment required the mover to park in a loading alley behind the building and they had to walk down about 6 stairs to get to the back entrance and elevator. I did not know this when I arranged the move and the guys were really accommodating about having to carry stuff down some stairs. My new place was on the second floor so some of the stuff they just brought up the stairway instead of bothering with the elevator. The move in total took less than 3 hours and the price was less than I anticipated. They took away all the wrapping materials.

They were getting paid hourly and instead of just waiting in the truck for us they had everything lined up on the sidewalk and ready to move into the house as soon as I got there.

 + -1 moreThis is my 2nd time using My Truck Buddy and I didn't even bother getting any other quotes. They did call early to tell me they would be running 30-40 mins late (I had a 2pm load time). Shaun told me he would call to give me about a 30 min heads up since I was already moving stuff between the 2 places. When they got there he apologized for the wait and they promptly got started. I have to say that I was a little concerned about how tired they were going to be after they just finshed a 5 hour extremely hard job (4 flights down and then 4 flights up) but My Truck Buddy was efficient and quick. I have some massive solid wood CalKing sized bedroom furniture and they managed to do it in 3 hours from start to finish. They even got my sofa sleeper out (and in) in record time. All 3 guys were polite, friendly and hard-working. I hope I won't have to move again anytime soon but if I do I know who I'll be calling! I still believe you really can't go wrong with these guys. =)

 + -1 moreWe purchased dining room furniture at European Country Living two weeks ago. They told us that they work with a great group to manage their deliveries. My Truck Buddy called within two days to arrange a delivery time. We were out of town, so we set the date for Feb. 26. It snowed that morning, so they rescheduled for 2:30-3:00 on Feb. 28. We made contact with them after 3 to make sure all was on track. They said that they would be here 4:30 due to some delays earlier in the day. Right around 4:30, they pulled up. Dave and Mike could not have been more courteous. They scoped out our dining room and began bringing pieces in right away. They were extremely careful with our new furniture and moving around our existing furniture. Mike was careful to unpack cartons and wrapping outside so that any debris stayed on the truck and not in our house. When the table was assembled, they arranged the chairs and adjusted the table location to our specifications. All of this cost only $150. We could not be more pleased or satisfied with the service. We highly recommend My Truck Buddy and would definitely use them again.

 + -1 moreGreat job. Punctual both times, good price both times. Gave us a discount for the second move since we were repeat customers. We had to move from apartment to apartment while shopping for a home. When we finally found our home, bought it, and moved in, we hired them to move us again (just 5 months later). We have a lot of stuff. They moved my great grandmother's antiques with care (twice), wrapped them in furniture pads and plastic wrap. Would hire them again. Also, customers should pack well and with great care. It helps the movers do their job well too.

This made me nervous because my old building's elevator was only usable until 4pm and the manager kept reminding me that we couldn't use it after that time and kept asking where they were. It turns out they made it in time though. They were pretty quick and didn't damage anything. Not too expensive, although I did find a cheaper price somewhere else. They had said that they would match that price but then due to some miscalcuation didn't end up giving me the lower price. I was so tired by the end of the moving day that when I caught the difference I didn't have the energy to call them and fight about it. Overall though, good services.

My Truck Buddy offers the following services: We help people with their "small moves," i.e. usually one-and two-bedroom apartments, but we increasingly help with larger 3 bedroom town homes, single family homes, and similar. We still offer a delivery component of three items or less going across town or so.
Unfortunately, we do not yet offer packing services, but we have a good partnership with an organization company that does a fantastic job helping people secure their items for moving.
