It was amazing. Josh was amazing in educating me on what's the problem. He's also thorough. He held my hand and walked me through the insurance company. They cleaned up well, forthcoming on what we expected, friendly, and great to work with. They did such an amazing job. They were very professional.

I haven't worked with any of the people mentioned in positive reviews on yelp. But I definitely would not recommend Blayne or Chuck. They appear to be something of storm-chasers, knocking on your door after strong storms and offering a free appraisal on any potential insurance claim damage. They are on the ball up front, and will be onsite with the insurance adjuster. I had a full roof replacement claim and partial siding from my insurance, and a claim check in just a few weeks. Surprisingly, that's when problems started. Blayne insisted on waiting for roof work until insurance approved a full siding replacement, and some additional minor work. They submitted a supplemental request. And that was the last I heard of Blayne. I spent a month trying to get a hold of him, before reaching a field supervisor. Chuck apologized profusely, and seemed to pick up the ball running, had one conversation with my insurance adjuster, then similarly went dark. No response to email, phone, or text. Their lack of communication and professionalism before the work even started still amazes me, when I had at least $23k in hand ready to pay them for the work. Work they came to me asking for. I can only assume the profit margin wasn't worth their effort, and they preferred to ghost me and waste /months/ of my time, while damage spread on my ceiling. There are a ton of remodeling companies out there, I suggest finding one who knows how to pick up a phone.

The quality of the pre-job advice was excellent. The work was done promptly and with great attention to detail and special needs.

Having to replace our townhouse roof resulting from storm damage, for us was rather daunting, especially the vetting process to locate a reliable and professionally certified contractor that was available to perform the work in time before winter settled in. I would recommend Modern Remodeling Inc. and Jason and Alexis as the Project Managers for anyone shopping for a new roof. They were both very responsive and addressed any concerns I had with getting the new roof installed and all follow on work as required to complete the job. Alexis especially made sure that she communicated all details about the roof install and Jason made sure I was fully satisfied by the work before requesting the final payment. When I noted issues with the roof install crew and getting my old gutter guards re-installed, they had a new crew add new gutter guards were the previous crew had left these out. I would have no issues fully recommending this company and requesting to use Alexis and Jason again for anyone looking to get a new roof in the Northern Virginia area.

They came out the first time as initially scheduled. The representative looked at thing and called someone else who indicated he would be out the next day at a particular time in the early evening. Stayed at home waiting for him to show -- he never did, but called a couple hours later explaining he got sidetracked. We then set a time for him to come out a couple of days later. He came out a couple of days later, after the agreed upon time (but he did show up unlike the previously scheduled day/time), looked at the situation, and we discussed him providing an estimate to reside my home. He said he would -- that was probably 2 weeks ago now and we never heard anything else. Responsiveness and punctuality are not strong points -- which are significant factors of professionalism. I would be nervous hiring this company as after what I experienced, I'd be concerned if they would actually show up to do the job. It's unfortunate because one of the reasons we called this company in the first place was because they do all kinds of remodeling and we are looking to find someone that does quality work do a kitchen and bathroom remodeling in the next couple of years

The company was responsive and kept me informed throughout the process. Chuck was experienced, courteous and provided me with options to consider. They also worked with the insurance company. The work was done in about a day and a half once started. They did a good job with the cleanup at the end of the first day and when they finished. The roof looks great. I don’t anticipate any issues and believe Modern Remodeling will stand by their work. I happen to be home and Chuck was making a separate magnet sweep around the yard to pick up the stray nails a couple days after the work was completed. I was more comfortable using this company over others as they were part of Contractor Connection prescreened contractors.

I've had far more negative experiences with contractors than good, so when it came around to choosing someone to help with my project, I was very nervous. I’m really happy I made the decision to go with Modern Remodeling, who was recommended to me by a close friend. Specifically, I have been dealing with Jonathan Ballard who has been extremely helpful, honest, open, and communicative throughout the entire process. My home was hit with hail which resulted in the siding and roofing needing to be replaced. Jonathan came out, inspected the area, helped me understand what was entailed with the work, and also helped out with framing out my carport to convert it into a garage. Not only was Jonathan knowledgeable, but he was honest about what would be best for our home. Originally, I wanted to go with Hardie Board to obtain a specific look. While it was possible, Jonathan really felt that the work required to do it properly would be more than what I should spend on the total project. He convinced me to go with vinyl siding, which would be less maintenance and still keep the look I was going for. His crews for the roofing, siding, framing, and finishing were all extremely professional, prompt, and answered all my questions while they were working on the house. I can’t say this enough, Jonathan, his crew, the folks at Modern Remodeling, Inc. are the best decisions I’ve made for my house. My entire neighborhood is jealous of the work that’s been done and I’m happy to fully recommend them for their services. Thank you again Jonathan!

Jason Reed at Modern Remodeling made this the easiest home improvement from start to finish! I filed the claim and then he took over, meeting the adjuster and making sure we got everything we were entitled to. He responded to my emails 7 days per week and was always in touch letting us know when and what would happen next. I would highly recommend Jason and Modern Remodeling again and again!!

The workmanship of the roofers and gutter replacement were outstanding. The repair of the roof, installation of new shingle, gutters and cleanup were of the highest quality. We would rate Modern Remodeling 5 stars (out of 5 stars) and give them our highest recommendation.

They met with us and laid out a plan whereby they would help us to submit a claim to our insurance company in order to have the roof replaced. They contacted us numerous time throughout the process and pushed for us to get the adjuster to come out. When we initially met with them, I asked what would happen if insurance would not pay - would they then give us pricing for fixing the roof. They said not to worry about that -- they would keep working with the insurance company to get them to pay. They were present when the adjuster came and seemed to be working for our cause. However, once the insurance company rejected the claim, they disappeared. There were no further calls or emails. They did not respond to my follow up emails. They have never presented a cost for us to pay ourselves to have the roof replaced. We were simply dropped.

Roof was wrong color the first time. When they removed the old roof they ripped holes in my gazebo roof, dropped and broke my satellite dish, drilled extra holes in my shutters leaving the original holes, left a bunch of nails in the rain gutters (which hadn't been replaced yet) so when it rained that week about 30 nails covered my driveway and my car tire went flat (after I got my wife to the airport thank god) and crushed some plants in front of the house. They only took a day or two to fix the satellite dish but never fixed the plants and agreed to replace the roof with the correct color and upgrade to architectural shingles if I agreed to fix the gazebo myself. Still finding complete rows of nail gun nails still with the wire on them out in the yard when I mow. They did go around the house with a magnet and pick up the old nails from the grass but the new nails they used were non magnetic. I also had to make arrangements for the shutter guy to come back and get his power tools he left in the front yard. It has been some time but when gardening I found a caulking gun with roof sealer in the yard so I threw that away. All in all the salesman was awesome and a good interface to the company. The workers were the weak link and when I came home for lunch I discovered they had started a day earlier than they told me they would so the brown roof was over half on. I don't speak Spanish and no matter how hard I tried they didn't understand it was the wrong color. I called the office several times but by the time I got them to understand the roof was almost complete. Later that day as they were leaving I noticed both my ladders and my hand-truck were missing from the back yard. They didn't take them off the property but used them like they were theirs instead of unloading their own ladders (I was working on window damage myself so that's why they were out in the first place. There are quiet a few more problems (especially with the first roof) that I won't post since I already rated them an F but I did hire another roofer to inspect their first job and got a laundry list of errors like damaged siding, nails that were exposed with a sealant blob beside them and not covering them and improper flashing. So yes there is more I could complain about but you get the picture. :-( But like I said I gave them a D overall because they did fix some of the problems but if it wasn't for the outstanding efforts of the salesman it would be easy to turn the whole thing into one giant F. The salesman brought me two new shutters that I will have put up when I get the house painted as the old shutters have already had one repaint and wouldn't match anyway. Wouldn't recommend them to anyone. I ultimately replaced or fixed the other storm damaged items such as the window screens, broken windows, exterior lights and paid a different contractor to fix my fence as I felt they would just make more work for me in the end. It went very well. Everything looks good and comes with a very good warranty. Work Was done in a timely fashion given the winter weather did not cooperate much of the time. There were a few miscommunications, but they were corrected fairly quickly. The best part was where helped a lot in getting the insurance company to pay the full cost of the repairs except for a few add-ons and my insurance deductible. The insurance company denied that any damage was done just after a hailstorm, but Modern Remodeling inspected later, found hail damage everywhere, and showed that damage to the insurance company.

Everyone was courteous & polite throughout the entire process.The work was done quickly & professionally. The materials used were of high quality. A minor discrepancy occurred when workers performed repairs in the owners absence at an unscheduled time but management corrected the problem. This is an excellent company & I would use their services, again.

We have had a lot of companies come through our neighborhood since a hail storm in May. Normally I ignore the door to door salespeople, but my kids accidentally let our dog out so I had to go rescue him from the overly jumpy puppy. Donny came by and said it looked like we had some hail damage to our siding, so they wanted to send out an inspector. I definitely didn't see what Donny did, so I told him there was no way I was going to do any work unless my insurance company agreed and paid for it, as the siding isn't really that old. And that I would talk to the insurance company and see what they said. Nevertheless, he was rather insistent about setting up an appointment, so he got on the phone with someone in scheduling (George?) and we did agree that they would come out the following Saturday at 10am. When I got in the house, I checked the Angie's List reviews and saw they were very good, so decided to keep the appointment. The next day, I called my insurance company and got them to send out an inspector at the same time. Saturday morning came, and no sign of anyone from Modern Remodeling all day--no phone call, no inspector, nothing. The insurance inspector, who did show up on time, said there was no damage anyway. Just reinforced for me why I should never bother with the door to door stormchasers.... Hate to give them a crappy rating, but I do not appreciate having my time wasted.

Modern Remodeling did and excellent job. The team worked efficiently to put the windows in place quickly to ensure that my air conditioning was not cooling the outside and then they went back to caulk each window. The team was very experienced and took special care to ensure that everything was done to my satisfaction. Additionally they inspected everything and insured that all trash was picked up and removed when the job was done. The quality of the workmanship is excellent, I am very pleased with the results.

Modern remodeling fixed my roof and gutters in the fall of 2015, when the rainy season starts in 2016, I found a section of the gutters was clogged, I called Nathan at the company, he showed up quickly and fixed the problem right away, I am very impressed by the excellent level of customer service and would like to thank him for his time and effort.

We had hail damage and they replaced the roof, upgraded our skylight and upgraded the siding to vinyl instead of the 22 year old aluminum siding. In doing the repairs they also brought the house up to code for the siding, which meant installing 1/4" foam insulation. The insulation has made a big difference in the feel of the house. It is noticeably warmer this winter in areas that were usually quite cold. The process of dealing with the insurance was easy with their help and we were able to get everything done to our satisfaction in a reasonable amount of time. They went out of their way to explain areas where we might have difficulty with the insurance. Since we took the steps they recommended, our insurance claim process went smoothly.

We have used Modern Remodeling for work on both our current home and our previous home. Over the past decade they have: - Replaced the roof on both houses - Replaced skylights on both houses - Replaced aluminum siding with vinyl siding - Replaced two sliding patio doors with vinyl triple-pane sliding doors - Replaced all of the windows in our house Every time we have used them we have found them to be reasonably priced, the employees have all been professional, and the quality of work was excellent. We highly recommend them.

I have put 5 roofs on 5 different houses in the last 3 years. Modern Remodeling is by far the best. They work with your insurance company. Have good pricing. And, they do a really excellent job. I would only use them in the future. They are the go to guys for roofing..

Everything was fine with them. They were courteous and prompt with the call and the show up. I thought they were pretty typical. The guy who came out talked to me and I thought he was thorough in what he did. The quote came back relatively quickly. The price was satisfactory and was very similar to the other quotes I got.
