Leopold's Chimney Sweep

It has been very good. I've dealt with them directly. They charged approximately $300 but then they had to put a damper in which costs another $100. With their clean-up, they actually carried it out to the street and got rid of it. They gave me an estimate and they stuck with it. Everything was great. I would use them in the future.

They will check the chimney but I don't have an active wood burning chimney anymore. They were very good. I usually have them once a year. I've been using them for years and I have no complaints. I have no trouble at all with them. The only reason they charge me $50 is because they put the gutter guards and i think they charge other people higher fees. They clean off everything.

Cory Leopold was recommended by Williams (our gas contractor, found via Angie's List). He returned calls punctually, quoted prices accurately and stood by those prices at the time the work was being done. Cory and his assistant arrived on time, properly equipped, with all the parts needed. Everything was explained well, all our questions were answered. They did the work skillfully and quickly, left no mess at all, and were done in two hours. Highly recommended!

LOVE these guys. A friend referred me as she had several dishonest people tell her she needed thousands of dollars of work done, but Cory Leopold was the only honest person who told her what she really needed to have done. I had a musty smell in my chimney and wanted an inspection done as we just moved into the house this summer. Cory advised me on the phone that there was a charge for an inspection if they came out, and a charge for a cleaning/whatever else if we went with them to do the work, which I understood and was fine with. They called before they arrived, which I always appreciate. They checked things out from inside, outside, and the ash dump in the basement and said the chimney was clean it was a matter of lack of insulation/mustiness from the ash dump and recommended insulating it (which we could do ourselves for $5-$10). Only charged for an inspection and was very friendly, helpful, and great to work with. Highly recommend them!

Leopold's Chimney Sweep are great. They made sure any of their new work they did matched the old work that was there. The work they do makes a big mess, but they cleaned up so well, you couldn't even tell anyone was here.

Leopolds took great effort and care to work on a steep pitched slate roof, not easy in my view. In one day they replaced the mortar and brick and reattached the steel chimney cap. Leopolds returned as planned on 15 April to apply the waterproofing. The chinney looks like brand new and I no longer have risk of bricks breaking off and damaging the roof or hurting someone on the ground. Highly recommend Leopolds for chimney roof and will use them again if needed.

Mr. Leopold showed up on time and began cleaning chimneys. He informed me that only one chimney needed cleaning but he would still run a brush up the other chimney to remove spider webs. Upon inspection, he notified me that the chimney caps were old, rusted and not made well. I replaced both caps and then told him that our fireplace leaked during heavy downpours. He added waterproof sealant on the chimney and cleaned up everything when he was finished.

The leak was stopped - we've had several downpours since he completed the work and there has been no leak. He is very competent and professional and we highly recommend him to everyone.

Leopold inspected and cleaned chimney as requested. Leopold is obviously very knowledgeable and competent; and, in my judgment, very trustworthy. I plan to use his service again when needed.

.I moved into a new home in the middle of December 2011 and I called this vendor because his information was previously provided to me by the previous homeowner. I tried to call him to continue the consistency of which vendor was maitaining the chimney, but I never heard back from anyone. I was very disappointed and ended up having to call someone else to clean and repair the chimney.

Confirmed appt day before, showed up on time. His tech cleaned the chimney while C. Leopold inspected for any problems. Explained issues to address in the spring. Will schedule that when appropriate.

I can't rate his actual work performance, but I was impressed with our 2 initial contacts. I would hire him if we ever needed the service.

Had a water leak in chimney that was leaking down onto new pelet stove. Corey came to look at the job and believed the problem was the chimney flashing. He professionally installed a temporary tarp on the roof around the chimney. After this did not stop the water, Corey came back and this time got to the cause of the problem. After grinding out and replacing some mortar joints, touching up the crown, and applying a 10 year sealant to the chiimney, no more leaks. Very reasonable price, very responsive. Stuck with the issue until it was resolved.

Very well. No nonsense....he comes in and gets the job done. We've used Leopold's for several years. He not only cleans but educates about care of chimney. First time he cleaned our chimney (several years ago) he cleaned the "shelf" inside which no other cleaner had ever done before.....LOTS of ash that had been missed in the past. Will continue to use Leopolds.

Shortly after moving into our new home, we noticed a strong smell of burned wood in the vicinity of our fireplace (with wood stove insert) after storms, and had a few chimney cleaning and repair companies come out to do a checkup on the fireplace, stove and chimney and try to fix the odor issue. Corey Leopold did a very thorough inspection, explained the best way to use the wood stove, recommended how to better insulate around the stove, and took me up on the roof to help me see the condition of my chimney. This impressed me, since the other (highly rated) firms that provided us with estimated did very cursory inspections and didn't take the time to talk about the best way to use the system. Corey recommended applying a sealant to the chimney crown to repair some cracked masonry (possibly due to the recent earthquake) and replacing the existing chimney cap to help prevent water from leaking into the fireplace (the suspected cause of our fireplace odor issue). Otherwise, he said the chimney was in fine condition and was very clean -- this again differed from other estimates, which recommended cleaning and much more extensive repairs. When I mentioned these other suggested repairs, he took the time to explain why they were not necessary at this time. Corey performed the suggested repairs during the same visit, and took me up on the roof again to inspect the work. He also removed an existing, unused TV antenna attached to the chimney, because they can stress the masonry. The repairs seem to have fixed our issues with the fireplace odor, and I feel a lot safer using the stove.

Mr. Leopold is very nice and honest. His prices appear to be reasonable. He was upfront that he would not be able to get out right away, but did arrive when he said he would. We were a little concerned why the problem persisted after he had fixed it previously, but he said he preferred to take the conservative approach and try to save us money if the alternative approach would work.
