Early Friday afternoon I realized my dryer was not getting warm to dry my clothes. I checked Angie's list and looked for a sweep nearest to my home with the best rating and discovered Leopold's Chimney Sweep. I left a frantic message on his answering service because I need my dryer and he got back to me within an hour and offered to come by before a scheduled 4 p.m. appointment nearby. I was so happy. He came by and got straight to work he vacuumed out the vent leading from the dryer then checked the back of the dryer to be sure it was clean as well. He even went so far as to sweep up and disscard the lint under and behind the dryer. He also placed a bird guard leading into the house to insure another bird wouldn't build a nest. Unforturnately it did not fix the problem as it is the dryer sensors I believe now and not the vents. He wasn't able to fix my problem however he recomended a company that fixes dryers so we will have to wait and see how this turns out.

Leo was very professional and honest from the beginning, giving us different options and costs depending on how urgent the work needed to be done. We opted to just get it over with and get it all done. He even repaired our front door step which now looks great. Our new chimney crown looks awesome too. His work was excellent as is his knowledge, professionalism and obvious pride in his work. He cleaned up after himself even going around and blowing all the dust created off the balcony and pathways etc. He inspected our chimney and dryer vent but said they are in good shape and do not need cleaning at this point.

Mr. Leopold responded quickly and arrived when he said he would. He inspected both fireplaces and chimneys. He repaired minor issue with one damper, replaced one damper mechanism, and regrouted one firebox to ensure safe and efficient operation of fireplaces. He also inspected furnace venting to/within chimney and sealed vent at entry point. I found Mr. Leopold to be very knowledgeable, professional, efficient, honest and responsive. I will use his services again as needed.

Someone recommended them to me. I liked his response time and the time he spent here to do the work. We had gotten an estimate from another company to put gutter guards and his quote was much much lower than what they quoted. We were very pleased with them and will use them again.

I highly recommend them. He is great at chimneys too, but he does gutters, dryer vents and things like that. I am in Herndon which is far away and he comes up to Herndon. It cost me $315 for the work done. He was efficient. It was expertly and professionally done as well. He is a good guy.

I am very pleased with their services. He couldn’t get on top of the roof--due to ice, so he offered to come back in the spring---free of charge.

He was referred to us. He did a real nice job. I thought that we were going to have to have some major work done and he told us no. He discovered that one damper on one of the fireplaces had rusted so bad it had holes in it and that a squirrel had gotten in. I didn't recognize it as being part of the damper frame, I thought it was part of the metal housing. He told me that he could just rip that out and put a damper cap on top. We have had that for three or four months. He tore the old 58 year old damper out and just put a cap on the top, that we open and clothes just inside the firebox, on both fireplaces. It is a good preserver of heat. I have heard his name as the guy to go to. He was reasonably priced. He didn't try to come in and say,"this 58 year old thing needs re-pointed all the way through," which I kind of expected. I don't think he normally does a lot of work this far north but did since I was referred. He made one trip out to assess it, ordered the parts, and called me when he got the parts in. He made the appointment convenient to us. We have noticed a great difference.

We have a double chimney and found that using the upstairs fireplace caused smoke to draw into the house through the basement fireplace. Mr. Leopold explained the draw issue very well and extended the one chimney so that its output did not return through the second chimney. He was very efficient and straightforward with us about what repair and expense was really necessary.

Mr. Leopold's price was very good. His work was excellent. He was on time for the estimate as well as for the project. He was polite and did exactly what he said he was going to do. I would highly recommend him.
