Local military move. The guy who did the survey was spot on with his numbers. The packers/loaders were quick, nice and professional only down side was the schedule. They packed on a Tuesday then were no shows until Saturday. Guess there was a better paying customer for the days in between. This would of been ok, but the dispatcher took until about noon each day (and me calling) to tell me that there was not going to be a crew that day.

It went terribly! They arbitrarily (a day prior) decided to not pack on packing day despite it being scheduled. They lied about when they would arrive on loading day (scheduled to arrive between 8-10 but didn't until 3), They lied about the condition of my furniture (when confronted, said "I'm only doing my job, and if you have a problem with it I can leave") (I videotaped everything) They lied about how long the job would take (supposed to be done at 5, but was actually 8, which my HOA tried to fine me for because it broke HOA rules). They lied about how many men would be used to do the packing (said 4, only had 2), They lied about when my delivery would arrive, saying it was arriving on July 3rd: It is now the 12th of July and it is still in DC.

We area 19 year military family who move locations on average every 1-2 years. Of all of our moves, this was our worst experience -- and we moved less than a mile away (local move). Although we paid for a full pack, load, & delivery, we later discovered that the packers grossly mispacked items (books with very fragile glass, thrown into a box together...other boxes that had two small toys but filled with paper). We had a 4-day move scheduled, but the crew showed up late every day and the first 3 days spent 3 hours, 5 hours, and 4 hours each day. The company promised (and the job required) 5-men, but only sent 3. By the end of the third day, they were supposed to be complete packing but were no where near. I called the company and they apologized and said that they would have it done tomorrow and send a large crew...they did not. In fact, the on-site leader was fuming about his boss and said that he had to leave no later than 2 p.m. for a family event -- what?? The crew did not care about our timeline, felt they weren't getting paid enough by the company (voiced this repeatedly), and I was left begging them to stay so that they would move load after load into the new house in time. Both homes had damage to walls and significant scrapes to the furniture. When I found damage, the lead acknowledge and apologized, but it was obvious they would hide any damages they did unless I discovered or asked. Bottomline, we knew they could not make the timeline, so we moved roughly 75% of our stuff each night and during the morning (since they didn't show up until 11 a.m. each morning). The company also did not want to weigh our shipment claiming there were no weight scales locally and the move would be faster. I was uncomfortable with this since we were doing all of the work and wanted to make sure they were paid only for what they packed/moved. I am still following up on this a year later and feel that the company was underhanded and intentionally skimped on our move. In dealing with the supervisor on the phone, I would hear him blame his crew...in dealing with the crew, they would flame their supervisor. It was a toxic mix and I was constantly in the middle of it. Was there any follow up by the supervisor or company on the constant issues that I raised? Of course not. I would recommend staying as far away from Kloke as possible and would not recommend them to anyone.

Description of Work: We were very happy with our packing and our out of state move done by the Kloke Group. All of the staff from the 3 ladies that packed our goods to the team of men that moved everything - they took care and expertise with our household goods and high value items. We have been through 17 moves so I think we are a good judge of moving companies. No blatant damages, still unpacking boxes but expect no damages to be found.

Awful. I strongly do not recommend this company. Worst move in 20 years of military service. We were assigned Kloke as our movers for a military contracted local move. Initial conversations with our move coordinator were pleasant and the move survey indicated a 2 day move. On the first day of the move Kloke said the movers would arrive between 8 and 10 AM. They arrived at 11 and blamed traffic. (Sure, this is DC and traffic stinks. I get that. But a company should PLAN for traffic rather than use it as an excuse.) The truck arrived with 8 movers. 30 minutes later they had unloaded the moving materials into our garage and left 3 packers. The truck and the rest of the crew left. The onsite lead said he'd be back at 2 PM to check progress. He didn't come back until the end of the day to pick up the packers. On the second day there was no truck & no onsite lead. The packers arrived in a personal vehicle and left at 4PM to go help with another job. They did not finish packing. The onsite lead promised that he'd be back with 8 movers and the truck before 8AM the next day. So now the two day move has become a three day move. At 8AM we had a truck and 3 movers. They did not have inventory sheets ready and had not planned to complete an inventory at all. We eventually got the inventory sheets but not inventory stickers so my husband and I wrote numbers on the boxes and created the inventory as the movers loaded the truck (this is usually done by the movers). Finally around 1100 another mover arrived with stickers. Around 1200 the onsite lead finally arrives with the rest of his crew to load a second truck. Unloading went relatively well until they tried to move a sleeper sofa into the basement. They declared it "impossible". I later paid $200 to have it moved in (AnyAssembly is awesome! They took out the sleeper & took door off hinges. No problem.) After everything was unload the onsite lead handed me the paperwork to sign. He could not believe that I wanted to actually check that our high value computer & television worked before I signed the paperwork saying that they did. He also couldn't believe that I wanted to check to make sure there was no damage to the house for signing the paper that said as much. The crew finally left around 5:30PM. So, in the end, Kloke cost me an extra day of moving and $200 to hire another company to complete the move. On numerous occasions we spoke to our move coordinator. They either didn't care or were completely ineffectual. It is abundantly clear that the crew was trying to do 2 moves with resources for one move. As govn't contractors they should not have taken a job that they did not have the resources to complete. The lies and aggravation over the course of 3 days has earned Kloke a grade of "F". Don't use them.

The company gave us a bid for our move that consisted of 6 man and tractor trailer for $255/hr for 11 hours. This bid included packing mattresses in boxes. We negotiated a cap on charges not to exceed $2500.00. On moving day the crew of six showed up @10am with a 25ft truck after unloading another job before arriving at my house. The crew explained that they would make multiple trips. I was told that the tractor trailer could not be used because they did not have a qualified driver. The resulting move took 12 hours with me helping them unload. The crew not wanting to make a third trip, told me they could not box the mattresses because they would not fit in the second load. The mattress were all damaged when they forced them on the top of the load in this undersized truck. The crew damaged the oak staircase and hard wood floors after carelessly placing a desk chair at the top of the stairs and knocking the chair down the stairs while lifting another item. It took the crew over one hour to travel the 6 miles between properties after unloading the first load. By the time the crew was unloading the second load at the destination, they were tired and careless. They left blood stains on a brand new white couch and throw pillow. They damaged an elliptical trainer machine and carelessly damaged a leg on a triple dresser as they slid it across the deck of the truck (I witness this). We had asked the claim adjuster to clean the couch, repair the stairs and floor, replace the $14 part on the elliptical and fix the damaged dresser leg. Instead the company paid my claim based on the standard 60 cents per pound insurance (I'm not sure whether the stairs are fixed as this was in our old property)...but the check was accompanied by a letter stating that they did not cause the damage described above or were not liable because they did not charge us for the mattress boxes. I was a mover for 6 years with United Van Lines. I understand the operation of a moving company agent and how household goods should be handled and loaded on a truck. I understand that damage happens during a move and that moving companies have insurance and vendors available to cover and fix losses. My issue is that they promised a tractor trailer and crew for the day not a twenty five foot truck and a crew that had already worked a partial day (18,000lbs is an all day job especially when you have to make two trips)...They then give us a check with a letter telling us we were lying. You need to ask yourself if you want to hire a company like this to move your possessions...I will not use them again.
Description of Work: Local move of approximately 18,000lbs.
