Explained on initial phone call that a flowering tree had lost a large limb from a freak wind storm and that tore up the side of the tree; we wanted to know if it could be saved or had to be taken down. Told there was a minimum of $300 and did we still want them to come out. Told that John, a certified arborist, would come out and give us an estimate. John spent some time reviewing the damaged tree and the same type of tree in the front yard. Told us they both needed trimming, pruning, and thinning of limbs for best results. The damaged tree would be fine and did not need to be removed. Front tree needed size reduction by approximately 1/3 and the damaged tree by 1/2. 'The best way to keep them stable is to keep them more compact.' [The trees had not had a professional trimming in a number of years.] They would be back between 5 and 10 days do to the current weather changes and previous jobs they had. Eight days later a team of 4 men, one obviously the team lead, appeared and asked to have the cars nearest the trees moved - so they could get their trucks (tree picker and mulcher) nearer and to prevent damage to the cars. Spent some time getting the lamppost glass lamp out of the way and protected the end of the post. The trees were trimmed down as per the estimate. The men were very comfortable in the trees cutting limbs whether attached by rope or using the tree picker. The trees were nicely shaped - damaged one as best they could do with such a large limb lost. We were a bit concerned about how much was removed, but were told the trees would be fine. Most limbs were lowered by ropes and mulched as removed. Most debris was mulched or picked up. Not all debris was removed and some fell out of the tree over the next couple of weeks, but based on the amount they started with and bushes they worked around it wasn't bad. It is now December and the trees did start filling in. The damaged tree seems to be doing well and the separation in the branches left by the fallen limb continued to fill in over the summer. As more wind storms have come up especially during the hurricane the trees hardly moved at all and this was a relief. Initially we thought the price was a little high, but the amount of work and the quality of shaping the trees was worth it. They did honor an Angie's List coupon.

Freedom gave us the best price of all the quotes we got, but the good price comes at the cost of patiently waiting 3 weeks for their schedule to clear. This was exacerbated by tropical storm Sandy. The job was tricky because we had a very large drain field where the trees were and so they had to be careful not to drop limbs on our drain field. Unfortunately, one limb did go straight into the ground and i am waiting to see if there was any damage to the drain field, but no puddles of water yet.

Excellent work. All work was done very well and very promptly.

They cleaned up well after themselves. They made sure to put the fence back and the bird feeder back. He has done work for my best friend too. We have been pleased with their service.

All went well as described above. Both on the day of the evaluation and as the work started, our expectations were taken into consideration, recommendations made, clarification of plan, and clear estimate provided. We were told that we didn't need to be home, but I wanted to see how it was done, so made a point of staying home. The tree climbers were amazing, and reached branches I didn't think possible. I think all was done in 4-6 hours from the time they arrived until the final cleanup. Instructions by the aborist were given to the crew regarding next week's grinding of the stump, and they noted caution around location of Invisible Fence, and I don't expect any issue with that part of the job given the professionalism and skill displayed last week. All was managed very well, and we were very happy with the results with the trees looking better than we thought. We were thrilled at how well the yard was cleaned up afterward.

Freedom Tree Service called me at work and walked through the yard. He asked all the right questions and listened to my answers, even pointing out dead branches I did not see before. Scheduled the work, estimated 10~12 days out. They called after 7 days asking if they could come early, due to a cancellation. They arrived as expected, calling beforehand, and did not leave a tree until I was satisfied with a big smile. Very reasonable price for the work. I will be calling them back for more work.

I am so pleased with Freedom Tree Service. First the aborist came out and recommended what needed to be done and he and I discussed all of this together. An estimate was written - I was told that when I was ready I should sign the contract and mail it or fax to their office and approx. in two weeks the work would be done. A date was set and unfortunately it rained that day so they were trying to reschedule it for the following week and would call me on Monday to confirm that. That was done and on Tuesday I received a call to tell me the men would arrive in one hour which is just about time I was told they would be coming. The crew were 3 men who went about their work very efficienrly. When all was done the yard was cleaned up and I was so pleased there was nothing more for me to do. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Their estimate was the best out of the three that I got. The services offered were appealing to me. So far, my experience with them has been excellent. They came right out and left the paper-work. Very prompt with their estimate.

When we noticed a tree that didn't develop leaves this spring and another which had bark missing on the main trunk near a woodpecker hole even though it still was developing leaves - we decided to contact a tree service since both trees were beyond our capability to resolve with a chain saw. While three companies came to give estimates, two of which seemed very good and competent with similar estimates, we chose Freedom Tree Service. They discussed options and gave advice, and checked that neither tree was in imminent danger of falling over. We were flexible on scheduling, and they scheduled about two weeks after we actually agreed with their offer. They arrived on time and completed work on both trees quickly and professionally. They were scrupulous about cleaning up and left things neater than we expected. Workers were courteous (and ... brave ... watching the one who climbed the tree to bring it down in pieces - even with good safety gear - was impressive). One worker noted that his brother and father had worked for same company for many years. When they brought down the tree with the woodpecker hole, the team leader showed me the piece of trunk near the hole. It was had a major hollow spot and would no doubt have snapped in a high wind at some point, causing damage. We would certainly call them again for an estimate on future work if the need arises.

From the initial contact to the completed work, absolutely fantastic! Very reasonable prices. They were very punctual, arriving at the exact time they said they would. We discussed adding more work at the time and we negotiated a new price on the spot with no issues. Work was high quality ... only issue was a small dent in the siding (very minor). Would definitely recommend them to anyone!

We set up a date for them to come and then they called the day after they came to look at the place and said they had an opening and came that day. They were very efficient and they cleaned up everything. They were nice to work with. A client of mine recommended them to me. Their prices were good and the quality was really good. Their responsiveness was incredible. They were very punctual. I wasn't here and when I came back, everything looked fabulous. This is the second time I've used them. They call me every year to see if I need anything done.

They will come out and will check on the trees (no charge). If want to do the job, they will come out quickly and do the job. They are nice and professional and do a great job.

This is the second time we have worked with Howard on tree removal. We had Freedom do $6,300 in Sept 2010. He and his team are phenomenal! You get much more than your money's worth. His consultation and expertise make him the tree service of choice. The crew arrives gets to work and is finished on or ahead of schedule. The work areas were clean when they departed.

Everyone associated with this company was very helpful from the person who scheduled the appointment for the estimate, the person who gave the estimate and the gentlemen that removed the tree. I would definately recomend this company to everyone. The work was done well and the price was great.

Howard came out to give us an estimate. He marked all of the trees which none of the other companies had done. He gave a very detailed estimate on each tree from the cost to cut and grinding in case we decided on a change. The first day it was scheduled, we got a call that because of rain they would not be here. The only small negative is that it could have been earlier. On the actual day the work was completed - they were so efficient. Howard and his crew definitely know what they are doing. We are extremely happy with the work and would highly recommend them.

They were honest and polite. They were prompt and professional. They did what they said they would do for the price that they quoted. They cleaned up well. I did check up many tree services but ended up using them.

Submitted on behalf of my sister in Centreville. The company was very easy to work with. I called and requested an estimate and they came out within the week and left it in my door. Once I accepted the quote, the day they were scheduled to come out, their bucket truck was experiencing mechanical problems. They called me immediately that day to let me know and rescheduled for the next day. They came out the next day and pruned the tree while I was at work. I came home to a beautiful new tree (and a yard as I had left it) and was very pleased with the entire experience.

They did a great job. We have used various tree removal companies, but have found this one to be the best. They came out within 24 hours of my call to give me an estimate. Price was much lower than one estimate I received and the same as the one from another. They scheduled the work a couple weeks later. They showed up on time and worked until they got it done that evening about 6 pm. They had four workers and all were very courteous and responsive to questions. The tree was taken down without damage to nearby plants and structures. This company offers a good combination of high quality work and very competitive prices. We will definitely use them again.
