Rob did a great job in professional design and install of a new entertainment center in our new home. He paid a lot of attention to detail and made some recommendations that made the final product a showpiece. Everyone who has seen it has reacted with the same "wow" look. It really enhances the room. He recommended using the same color paint to match the baseboards and trim. At first I was thinking of a contrasting color but we are very glad he recommended otherwise.. Rob takes the time to work through the fine details because he wants to meet or exceed your expectations. He has certainly done that in this project. He carefully designed each section of the entertainment center to properly accommodate what we wanted to display. I am actually thinking of what I would like for him to quote in other rooms. I think he is capable of designing and building many other home solutions.

When you meet Rob Fraizer, you will come to know three things about him within the first 10 minutes. 1. He's in a building he can't afford (he'll let you know how much more his current building is than his last one) 2. He's probably losing money on your project right now (literally mentioned this to me at every opportunity) 3. His helper is the best, until he's not and he tells you this while his helper is installing finished woodwork and running electrical, unlicensed at that. Our experience was a good experience which soured. This was a two part project to which we paid $5800 dollars. $4500 for a fireplace surround and $1300 for a media cabinet. The fireplace surround that he constructed and built was good. Not flawless, but acceptable to the point that we were satisfied with it. Install day 1. Install fireplace surround, frame out the wall for the media cabinet. The day the fireplace surround was installed went fairly smooth. There was some ceiling damage, but we moved forward. I'll have to fix that myself at this point (note, me doing work will become a trend). The framing out of the wall went fairly smooth as well; however, this is where the project began to go south. Rob measured once for everything prior to building anything. This proved to be a problem because Rob measured incorrectly. The day he came out to install the $1300 dollar media cabinet, he couldn't. As pictured, you can see that the depth of the cabinet would not permit the cabinet from being installed. Rob had already framed out the wall and it was clear that he didn't want to pay his helper and build a new cabinet. Rob will let you know how his rent is high and his margins are tight every chance he gets. I heard him out on what he wanted to do and he suggested that he would come up with a solution and we moved forward. Rob's solution was to take the media cabinet (already constructed and finished) back to his shop to dismantle it. This would mean that the cabinet would be installed into the wall in 7 pieces. Install day 2. This day was super interesting After the tiles for the hearth and fireplace surround had been installed, Rob and his helper came out to install the finished pieces on the fireplace. Then his helper performed electrical work, unlicensed, and they worked to install cabinet. Something we discovered during this process is that Rob's helper does not feel comfortable working on finish work....you know....like $4500 dollar fireplace surrounds.....Also, his helper framed out the hole for the media cabinet too large. This meant that the face frame that Rob built would need to be rebuilt. Also, his helper cut the shelves too large, so Rob stepped out front and cut them down to size, but not without griping how his helper is a bit slow and cannot manage to cut things to the right size. Needless to say, we moved on through the day. At one point I had some troubles with an electrical circuit while they were installing the cabinet. I had undone what his helper had done and removed the electrical outlets in order to try and fix the problem in the circuit before we closed up the cabinet. This didn't sit well with Rob at all and was when Rob started losing his cool. He started pacing and mumbling about how he was losing money on the job. Then he mumbled about how he wasn't going to do this again. When I asked him what he said, he stated that in the future he wasn't going to do the electrical work any more. He would make clients get permits and hire licensed electricians. I pointed out at that point that I had permits (electrical was one of them) for this job. And that I have electricians that I use for work. Rob didn't say much other than how he likes to save his clients money by doing all of the work for them because electricians are expensive. Let's discuss how the electrical and audio cables were brought into the cabinet. The electrical and audio cabled were ran along the side of the cabinet. Designing a cabinet where the depth is going to be limited to the component, understanding cable entry and depth is critical. In such a case, placing the electrical and component receptacles on the sides of the cabinet rather than in the rear may have been a better design choice. But Rob is the artisan here right? We moved on. When Rob's helper ran the electrical cable and the audio cables everything worked; however, a day later when I was running an HDMI Cable (there is an access point in cabinet) I found that there was a live electrical cable resting on a fireplace vent. The vent that heats up. This could have lead to a catastrophic or fatal problem within my home. As I had an inspection the next day, I made the decision to fix this and reroute the audio cables and trim the electrical cables. The problem with this was that I needed to remove the cabinet in order to modify how the cables were installed. After the inspection, my intent was to then shim the cabinet (it's uneven / wavy as you can see in the photos) and have Rob come back to put the new, larger face on the cabinet. Because the cabinet is so wavy it just made me sick to look at and I was pretty frustrated at having had to spend 10 hours doing work I paid $1300 dollars for Rob to do. Rob's answer was that the face would help it look good. But I'm not into paying $1300 dollars to put lipstick on a pig. At that point I had asked Rob to either refund my $1300 dollars or re-frame and install a new cabinet that would fit in one piece. Rob accused me of making the electrical story up and questioned why I didn't say something sooner. Rob didn't want to do either, so here we are. I don't have any more days off to give to Rob since he can't get it right and I don't trust anyone that works for him to work on my home, not after putting my family's life at risk already. Now we get to have the wall re-framed and new cabinet installed. So if you are considering custom woodwork, consider shopping around and getting work done from someone else. It might cost you a bit more, but in the end, it might not cost you any more - if anything it might be less stressful.

Rob was wonderful to work with--experienced, detail-oriented, responsive, and professional. A year later, we are still so happy we hired Rob to build our beautiful bookshelves and entertainment center. I would recommend Rob without reservation for any custom cabinetry.

Needed a fireplace surround and boy, did I get a beautiful one. Rob came and measured, gave me a very reasonable estimate, and came once more to finalize the measurement. (Measure twice, cut once!) In practically no time at all, he had it installed. It looks so elegant and completely changes the look of the room. We couldn't be more pleased with the product and his complete professionalism.
