Beware of this business!! They took my $5,000 deposit for custom window treatments almost one year ago and have never delivered the drapes. On 4/23/2009, I ordered custom drapes, pillows, and shades from Diana Durham, and I gave her a 70% deposit ($5,000) by personal check. It occurred to me at the time that the deposit seemed disproportionately large, but I wasn't concerned because my family and I had done a significant amount of business with Diana in the past. Diana told me when I paid that the items would be ready in approx. 8 weeks. In late June of 2009, I contacted Diana to see when the drapes would be ready. She told me that the fabric had been cut but no sewing had been done due to staffing issues in her workroom. Thus began the cycle of lies. From that point on, I contacted Diana in Sept., Oct., Nov. and Dec. regarding the project. When she belatedly responded, she would always give an excuse for her delays and would promise that my job was her first priority. I have over 30 emails documenting these exchanges. After more deadlines were missed, I became sure that she didn't have the drapes etc. and that she'd used my deposit to fund someone else's job. When I confronted her on this in February 2010 and asked to see the work in progress, she refused. At that point, I focused on trying to get my deposit back. Diana has continuously lied to us and egregiously delayed repaying us our money. She is dishonest and untrustworthy. As I suspected, she is in financial trouble and told us that she's spoken to a bankruptcy attorney. She has court judgments against her in Prince William County and Richmond General District Courts. She had a complaint lodged against her in July 2009 with the VA Dept. of Agriculture & Consumer Services for nondelivery of goods . Don't let her cheat you too!
