He came as a package deal with Bella Vince Designers, and they were a wonderful team. Working against time limitations (I had a move in date),parking limitations, and condo rules, they turned my apartment into something I wouldn't be surprised to see in Architectural Digest. One minor problem I noticed after he left was quickly rectified. Mike is always responsive, has a "can do" attitude and charges fair prices. I would not hesitate to rehire him.
Description of Work: I had Mike Blaine completely remodel a wall and fireplace mantle (which required demolition and moving the wall back), paint my entire apartment and perform other miscellaneous work.

Blaine Construction was hired by the selling bank in our foreclosure transation (I am the buyer). Because we did not hire or pay Blaine ourselves, I can not comment on those aspects. However, I can speak strongly to quality of work because I, my agent, and a city inspector were in the house at various points while the work was being done. The Blaine truck left the house, taking the keys from the lock box, leaving the house unlocked with no indication that someone was in the house. After calling out with no response, I entered the house and was startled to find a man in the basement -- a man who was not able to communicate with us and had no uniform or company identification on. As I was leaving the house after meeting with a plumber, I watched as the man THREW our vanity into the front yard. I figured that all would be restored, perhaps that vanity was being replaced. When we came for our final inspection a few days later the floor had been replaced. However, the rest of the bathroom was trashed. About 6 inches of the dry wall paper had been ripped off the walls, the space between the bathtub and the floor was not enclosed, the toilet paper holder had been ripped off the wall, the vanity door was no longer attachable (yes, it had rusty hinges but I'm sure the toss in the yard played into it), and the sink plumbing was not attached properly and was flooding the vanity with water. Our agent passed the complaint on to Blaine Con. who indicated they had hired an unvetted worker for the day and left him alone in the house. Mr. Blaine decided to come out himself and fix the work. Mr. Blaine's own work--his very best in repairing an unacceptable job-- left much to be desired. Some of the drywall damage was covered up with a piece of trim, some was not. The TP holder and the space beneath the bathtub were not replaced, and the cabinet door was not reattached. The sink plumbing was reattached, but it started leaning profusely a week after that. We later learned that a city inspector happened by the first day of work and he informally recommended to us that we rip out the flooring and start again because he was concerned about what he saw. Our house was a very neglected foreclosure that needed lots of work to be done ASAP. While Blaine Con. might have an "in" with selling banks getting work done as cheaply as possible, they certainly lost our business!
