They do seasonal maintenance and they call me before the summer season. When I first hired them, I had my furnace completely went down. They gave me a very good deal. I even got my half air conditioner for free. They're over responsive because they call me all the time.

The professionalism of the staffs was excellent and very polished. The water heater was part of a large package HVAC, plumbing and they could do everything. It is pretty much a one-stop shop for us. The price is fine.

Although, the tech arrived an hour later than the 8:00am-12:00pm window that was given to me, the service went ok. To my understanding, he was in an area with no cell phone signal so he could not call. When the tech arrived, he was nice and professional . He found a problem with my capacitor which prevented my A/C from working properly. The company wanted nearly $350.00, excluding the $97.00 cost of the service call to fix it. It was too much so, I had to shop around. Another Angie's List company came in and fixed it for less than half of ARS asking price. Consequently, I gave the other company the business.

ARS was supposed to come when my A/C went out. I called at 9 AM to ask them to come, then called again at 6:00 PM that night to verify again if they were coming. They called to reschedule at 8:00 PM. If they were to busy then they should have informed me earlier. Instead of scheduling an appointment the next day they wanted to reschedule two days later for an all day appointment. I did not use their services. I found someone else who came when they said they would.

I purchased two Angie's List HVAC system check deals. The tech, Bernie, arrived within the expected time window (I also received a call as he was nearing the home). I enjoy learning more about the mechanical systems in the house and Bernie had no problem with me tagging along as he performed his work and explained what he expected to find as well as the results as he moved from task to task. Although everything was working fine, Bernie explained which items were not performing fully up to spec and provided an expected timeline for the replacement of the parts in question. Bernie was successful in walking the fine line between informing the customer of the products and services offered by ARS while avoiding high pressure sales tactics. I am very comfortable with Bernie and as a result will definitely consider ARS for future heating and cooling needs.

My AC unit went out the week of June 16th which was going to be a very hot week for my area. My AC / Heating system is over 25 years old and we were planning on replacing this year but the system went belly up before I was ready to buy. Looking at Angie's List I went first with one of the top providers in my area (ARS). I called and set up an appointment for an estimate. I then called other companies as well and had a different company inform me they could send out a service technician to see if I could get back up and running. The ARS representative showed up at the scheduled time and was the first company I had come to my home. I showed him my furnace and AC units. I also explained I had another company scheduled to come out and look at servicing my unit to get me back up and running as well as an replacement estimate. The representative then stated (paraphrase) that if the other company was going to fix it that he did not want to waste his time giving me an estimate. I explained again about how old the system was and we wanted it replaced... whatever fix was applied was only a band-aid an I needed a new system. We had the same discussion a couple of times during the entire time he was here. I informed him that if the cost to fix the system was going to be expensive that I would not have it done and needed an estimate ASAP so I can choose somebody to do the work. The ARS representative left asking me to call if I decided to get service done or not... I don't know why he asked for this... I wanted a quote regardless. The other company came to do the service and the cost was too expensive... so I asked them for a replacement quote. Then I called the ARS Rep and informed him that I was NOT getting the service done and that I needed a quote. The next day the Rep tried to call me but I was out of the house. I returned his call (9 am) and he informed me that he would get me a quote by 9-10pm. (As a side note, the last company I had come out had my quote to me with option in 1.5 hours after leaving). I informed the Rep that would be fine and that I needed it by Friday as we would make our decision Friday evening. I heard nothing. We got no quote when promised nor did we get a quote the next day... I even gave an extra 24 hours. The following day we picked a company. I informed all the other vendors of our decision, including ARS and I didn't even get an apology or explanation why I never recieved a quote. I guess they must be swamped and didn't want to waste their time with my job. Oh well... that was my experience with ARS...not very professional. The last two companies I got quotes from exceeded my expectations and I now have two companies I can go with. Good luck in the future ARS.

The repair tech came when promised. The replacement was straight forward, he had a universal fan motor in the truck and it was in the unit in about 45 minutes. The issue is the price. They wanted $898 for the motor. (Ack!) I paid it because my house was hot and I've got a roommate who's a shut-in and needs it cool. I've researched the motor and I can get the same motor on the internet for $250 or less. I understand they need to make a living, but holy crap. They have offered to talk about it and we'll see if we can come to an agreement, but right now I'm very disgruntled.

Prior to my appointment time, the ARS office called and notified me that the technician was on his way and where he was coming from which I appreciated since afternoon traffic can be a issue. Tim arrived and quickly fixed the air conditioner. He took the time to explain what the issue was and what was needed to correct the problem. He was very patient and answered all my questions. ARS offered coupons and a military discount which were very much appreciated. I will definitely use this company again.

I have used them since before they were ARS (previously General Heating). They have always been professional and punctual. Several years ago I did have issues with the second system right after they installed a Daikin ductless split. It would not perform as expected in a room with many computers, and this was the original stated purpose of the install, because it had no way to remotely sense temperature. Its only sensor was internal at the wall unit. I had to work up through their organization, but I did get to a customer advocate who ended up having them replace the entire system with a different brand (Mitsubishi ductless split) at no cost to me. The Mitsubishi has performed flawlessly.
Description of Work: They provide regular service for my two HVAC systems. The cost listed above is approx half of the annual service contract which includes two preventative maintenance visits. They installed both of the systems they service.

The technician that came out gave excellent service. Douglas Jeffries was his name. He looked at my humidifier and told me why it wasn't working. The technician that had installed it originally had not done it right. He gave me a good estimate for the repair. He showed up on time, as well, which I appreciated.

On May 1, ARS arrived 9:00 am with a 7 man crew and by 1:30 they had replaced the Air Conditioner, Air Handler, Duct Work, Zone Control, and Set Back Thermostats. The system has been running for over a month now and we are very pleased. The new system has a smaller capacity than the older unit and the old system had a 9 seer rating where the new system has a 16.5 seer rating. The Air Conditioner is running less because it is cooling only that part of the house that is calling for cool. Different areas of the house are set at different temperatures and at night, the unit cools the bedrooms, not the whole house.
Description of Work: A 24 year old York Air Conditioner was replaced with a Carrier system. The single zone duct system was upgraded to a 3 zone system.

The test confirmed that the 24 year old system was on it last leg. That afternoon Lee Strayer of ARS came out and presented the options for a replacement unit. He also went over the benefits of a multi zone duct system. In our case, a 3 zone system consisting of 3 thermostats in three areas of our home and a zone control and duct system that sends the cold air to the area that is calling for cooling.

Just an update that I should have waited a few weeks before being so impressed. The system is still great, after the quick fix there have been no issues. Despite hearing the sales person would come out and show us the features on the Wifi controller - it never happened. Not a show stopper, but don't say you're going to do something and not follow-up. We also called on our rebate and were told it's taken of...only to find out a month later it wasn't submitted by the sales person. Very disappointed in that aspect since they assured us we had to do nothing. Lots of finger pointing between sales and administration so I'm not sure who to believe. Almost two months now and we're looking at four to six weeks to see our funds. Our original system of 14 years (previously a rental house) had seen it's better days and it finally iced over both internally and externally on the coils. We cleaned it and tried some additional steps, but it was time to replace. After talking to several vendors, the last appointment was with ARS - we ended up going for a higher end system (Carrier Infinity) with a new furnance. 17 SEER, wireless controls, etc. Probably overkill in the since that we could have been a little more conservative, but I'm so glad we didn't. Are home is perfect right now - you can barely hear this thing run. We had one small gliche with the communication wiring, they promptly fixed and all is well. Professionals from beginning to end - I just stare at the new system in the closet and outside, it's honestly beautiful.

The first gentleman that came for the inspection was prompt, helpful and direct, which I greatly appreciated. He did a good job of explaining why we should get a new unit but also gave a quote for repair and explained what support that would provide. The second gentleman that came to give the quotes for new systems was also prompt, arriving the same day which helped me avoid taking another day off of work. He was thorough in his explanation of the options we had and what benefits each could provide. After a large amount of research on our part, their prices seem very competitive and the benefits such as warranty and service contracts tipped the scales. When we confirmed our order, they were able to have the installation take place within a week on a Saturday. The guys for the installation showed up early, were hard working and were completed well within the time frame quoted. A few weeks after installation we had a leak. They were able to come out the same day and pinpoint the issue, which was unrelated to their installation. They fixed the issue at a reasonable price and we've not had issues since. All in all, we've had multiple interactions with the company and their team over the past month and each of them has instilled confidence that we made the right choice and we're very happy with their services.
Description of Work: We initially purchased a deal for an HVAC inspection. When the gentleman began to review our current unit, it became apparent we needed to replace the system. He was able to call the office and get someone to come out the same day to give us price quotes.

The work was preformed on time and satisfactorily. My only issue was that they charged my wife even thought the service was already paid for (I was not home and she didn't know). I contacted them and they said they would not cash the check. They did end up cashing the check but sent me a refund in about two weeks.

The appraiser was very good, he gave us an appraisal 6 months earlier, and when we called him, he remembered me, and he was on time and had very good notes. He gave us a pretty decent deal compared to other quotes that I had received. When the guys came out to do the work, they were on time, they had everything I needed, they didn't need to go back out to get anything, and they didn't take a whole lot of time to install the unit.

Bert Trochelman came out to meet with my mom, dad and I. Both of my parents are deaf and elderly. Bert arrived on time and was very courteous and polite to all of us. He looked at our outside AC unit and indoor furnace area. He did some measurements and then we sat down to talk. He was very patient through the whole process. The communication took longer because not only is my dad deafhe is losing his vision. really felt like Bert was trying to provide us with the best solution while keeping in mind that my parents are 80 and 85 on a limited income. We discussed a couple of options and it felt to me he was trying to get them the best deal possible for what money they could put down. He left and emphasized to me that we could call anytime with any question. No question was a dumb on. We would recommend ARS of Manassas. Bert was just the icing on the cake. Just a great service. I will do a review of the installation of their new carrier ac and furnace after it's done.
