They do relatively well. I have a service contact with them and they come out twice a year. They do show up in the time window they give you. Some of the technicians are better than others. I have been a customer with them since 2000.

It was fine and they checked out 2 units. They showed up on time and put booties on his feet. He also gave me a breakdown on what he did and the status of everything. They got the job done in about 60-90 minutes. The scheduling was easy.

I submitted my Home Service Plan Agreement via email to Deidre on Monday, October 20th. We agreed on a service date of Wednesday, October 29th between 10-2pm. My husband took the day off of work to sit at home and wait for the technician. At 4:33pm I called ARS and was told that the appointment was never put on the schedule. I rescheduled and was told someone would be out to my house on Saturday, November 1st between 8-12pm. At 10:05am I called ARS and was told that I was next on the list for the technician and that he would be at my house in 1 hour, no later than 12pm. At 12:44pm I called ARS and was told that the technician was out of the area and that it would be 2 to 3 hours before he would get to my house. I was told that the technician would call when he was 45 minutes out. At 3:56pm I called ARS and was told that several messages had been sent to the technician and that he had not responded to any of them. They did not know when he was showing up. I had plans that started at 2pm so I left. I have no idea if the technician ever arrived. I signed up for a service agreement because when I purchased my home I was told by the home inspector that it was good to have a contract. If something were to happen, I would be put on the priority list and will get service faster. I have no faith that if something were to happen to my heater that ARS will ever show up to fix it. Because of this, this agreement has absolutely no value to me. On Monday, November 3rd I was told to send an email requesting that my agreement be canceled and that I would receive a refund minus services rendered (they didn't do anything so I'm not sure what these services rendered are). I never got a response back to my email. On Wednesday, November 5th I called and was told that the email was sent up to corporate and that it will take 6-8 weeks for me to receive my refund. I asked to speak to a manager 2 times and was told they were not available.
Description of Work: I purchased a service agreement for my heater. The agreement involved checks ups 2x a year.

ARS were awesome. I wasn't excited about the investment cost of what we finally decided to do, but very much appreciated the consultative selling approach that Lee and the ARS team used when working through all of the options. The conversation was never rushed and based on our goals - the sales consultant made sound recommendations (not the most expensive). We ended up choosing to go top of the line for a variety of reasons and are pleased with our decision. The systems have operated flawlessly and our energy bill has absolute decreased in comparative analysis. We're headed into our first winter with these new systems - and look forward to continue to compare monthly bills. Overall - the ARS team did a great job.
Description of Work: Replaced two complete A/C and Heating units that were aging - and installed attic baffles and insulation to bring my home up to today's standard and improve overall heating/cooling of my home.

Without the Angie's List coupon I wouldn't have used ARS, as they were the most expensive of everyone I called. Other then that I had an excellent experience. They were able to schedule me the same day I called and fixed the problem in a single visit. The technician, Steven W, was fantastic. I was the last stop on what had doubtless been a very long day and he was nothing but professional and polite. He went through the diagnostic steps, fixed the problem, flushed the system and answered my many questions. Not once did he seem irritable or in a hurry. If ARS offers another coupon I'd certainly use them again should the need arise.
Description of Work: The a/c quit working on the hottest day of the year thus far. ARS came and fixed it.

They did not return our phone calls. My son finally reached them once and they promised they would call back. They had an argument and never showed up. I also reached them once and they never returned my call as well. We needed service to our air conditioning unit and the fact they never responded was just terrible.

They honored the coupon. If they did any tune ups, it wasn’t very well communicated. They basically told me that I needed a new air conditioner and I had a leak somewhere. So I don’t know if they did any tune up.

It went out not really well. We called them out the first time to do the repairs; he said that we had a leak. That part he fixed very well but during that visit he talked us into buying a maintenance contract. It was okay, I didn't want it but I didn't mind paying the $200 that was 20% off and they will come out and check it. Within six weeks they came out to do the maintenance check. It was great and positive. But then the guy told us that the machine that they repaired six weeks ago is still leaking. So the piece that he replaced six weeks ago is leaking again then he told me that the coil is leaking. He gave me an estimate to replace the coil and the valve again. I will not be charge for the valve which was good because that was about $600. So he will charge me $2300 to replace the coil and the valve but then they said that my system is old so maybe I should replace the whole system. He recommended that he'll bring in his climate specialist so I said yes. He came out that night, he was very timely, then he tried to sell us a new system. He told us that since I am going to spend $2300 to repair that one piece why don't I spend $4300 and replace my whole air conditioning system. I asked if we need to because the system is only 8 years old. Then he said that I don't really have to but replacing that one thing and my system is the old style then we can kick it out up to the new style. Then he even added that if I will do that then I can also change the entire system out, my air conditioning and my heater and it will cost me $9300. So I said, "Let me get this straight, to fix that one item that you came in for two months ago was only $600, now we have to spent either $2300 to replace the whole system or $4300 to replace the air conditioner or $9300 to replace both heater and air conditioner. I told them to give me a day to think about it. The next day, he called me back and cut me down another $800 for it but I asked him for another day. We called a friend of ours who was a jack of all trades engineer, he checked the leak and we ended up paying him for only $120. It turned out that there was no single leak in my air conditioning unit and we ended up not replacing anything. We were not very pleased. They were able to fix the first problem but it was the second visit that I was upset about. I am glad that we didn't go ahead and spend that money.

I received a call from my renters at 10pm on 8/5 saying that they had no a/c. It was humid and hot and they had 6 people living in the house. I found ARS on Angie's list the next morning and gave them a call. They were entirely professional and responsive. They had a tech at my rental within two hours of my initial call. The tech called and provided me with the results of his inspection and an estimate for repairs (I needed a new capacitor). Total cost for parts and installation was under $400. The job was finished within 4 hours of contacting ARS. My renters were happy and so was I. Thanks ARS!

Matt was professional and friendly, and answered all my questions. He made sure to explain what he was doing and how it would help my unit run better. I would definitely recommend Matt for his knowledge and great customer service.
Description of Work: I had an inspection of my air conditioning unit by Matt. He not only inspected the unit, but also fixed an obstruction that made it difficult for me to change my air filters. He recommended I have the coils cleaned, so that was an additional cost.

I called around 5pm...hoping that maybe I could get on the schedule for the next day. It was hot and humid and our AC was dead. To my surprise, she told me they could get there today. She said it might be late, and could be very late but they will be there. She said the tech would call me an hour before. I had my doubts about this, but told her I'll be here. So around 10PM Matt from ARS called and said he was on the way and wanted to make sure that was ok. I told him it's ok with me if you don't mind. He showed up sometime before 11PM and instantly I knew I was dealing with a very experienced tech. I found the problem (bad capacitor) and actually had the part on his truck. Back up and running within 15 minutes. I think the paperwork he had to do took twice as long. Very fair price, and I felt like I owed him more. So I purchased the service contract for $199. He came back a couple days later to do the routine service check. I highly recommend Matt at ARS.

The service man was very polite and helpful in explaining our current air conditioner's problems and cost of repair. It was an old air conditioner and the cost of fixing it was too high with the likelihood of it having other problems. He was able to find the problems and thoroughly looked into the situation. He even found a problem regarding a leak in our roof, which we were unaware of. Unfortunately it cost quite a bit to add freon and replace a part in order to determine if there were other problems. However, I don't think there was any way around that. He referred me to someone in the company to talk to about a new air conditioner. The people that we worked with were very professional and helpful.

I purchased the ARS $50 coupon for $100 dollars worth of work in early Feb 2014 to repair my Carrier Air Purifier which was not working at the time. The repair technician visited my home 4 times between Feb 2014 and June 2104 each time ordering the wrong replacement part (power pack) until finally on June 16, 2014 he arrived with the correct part. The service manager and customer service staff were very helpful in helping to resolve this bazzar problem but it was very frustrating during the 4 month period waiting for the issue to be fixed.

Our A/C broke down last week and we called ARS to perform the diagnosis on our units. ARS was able to schedule a visit on the same day we called. The technician (Doug) came out and temporarily fixed one of the units so that we have at least one A/C working. We were very grateful for that. He gave us options for what to do with the AC units, i.e to replace or fix it. Doug was very knowledgeable, courteous and professional. Since it's a 10-year old unit, we decided to replace it. The sales person (Bert) came out couple of days later and gave us the estimate. He was very professional and realistic. He gave us a few options with different price points and communicated the total cost very clearly. He did not try to sell us the most expensive system or try to sell us things we do not need. Bert was very polite and thorough. On the day of the installation, three guys came (Brian, Jamie and Donovan). They were all very courteous and professional. It took them about 4-5 hours to have two AC units and one furnace installed. They did a very nice job installing everything, explained how the new thermostats work, and cleaned everything afterwards. We were very pleased with all the work ARS has done. We were also surprised how fast they respond to requests. I will probably rate ARS' responsiveness an A+. We have used other company (which were rated A by Angies List) before for regular maintenance, but the other company was not nearly responsive and puncture as ARS. In addition, the staff at ARS are all very pleasant to deal with. I will definitely recommend ARS to my friends and neighbors.
