I scheduled an appointment with ARS to check my heating system because I noticed my home humidifier was not operating properly. I call for an appointment and stated I would like to take advantage of the "$59 Heating System Check - Limited Time Offer!" they were advertising on their website. When the service technician arrived he stated that checking the humidifier was not included in the Heating System Check. Furthermore, if I wanted him to check the humidifier that would be an additional $120 service charge. I ask if I could use the $59 special and have him check only the humidifier. He called his home office to determine if this was possible and they told him NO. This made no sense to me because he was already on-site and checking the humidifier would require the same or less amount of time as the other components of the heating system. I have used ARS in the past and had found them to be a reasonable and professional company to work with. This time they came very short of that standard. 02/25/2015 - Update The ARS customer service representative contacted me about the review above and expressed her sorrow for my disappointment with the service I received and said she would send another technician out to check my humidifier for an additional $65 service charge. My $59 special service deal has now magically turned into a $94 ($59 + $65) special service deal, not to mention another 4 hours off of work waiting for the service technician. Thanks but NO THANKS ARS! It would appear that the old bait and switch is alive and well.

Initial installation was great with the tech very professional. I noticed after 2 weeks or so the unit wasn't heating. I could put my hand on the vent and feel only cold air coming out. I called and made an appointment between 12 - 4 and was told the tech would call before arriving. I called at 3 to make sure the appointment was still good. I was told we were on the schedule but it hadn't been assigned to a tech. I asked if it would be assigned and should I expect a call. The answer was "yes." Well 4 came and I called a little after that and was told the problem was corrected and the appointment canceled. I told them the problem wasn't corrected and still needed the appointment. Called back after 5 and they said we still had an appointment then gave the call back number for me as an 800 number. Really? Who has an 800 number. When I made the appointment a couple of days earlier they had caller ID and read my number back to me. Hmmm Well, the tech called at 5:30 and arrived at 6. Problem fixed. The techs who show up and do the work have been professional and courteous. The problem this time was getting the information of the appointment to the tech. There is a definite disconnect between the office and the field personnel.
Description of Work: Installed new fan and air handler. (HVAC) I have a 2 zone house and noticed after 2 weeks the new unit was heating.

Service team arrived on time and finished on time. Small mix up on the initially purchased unit as a media filter could not be added as desired, but an adequate discount was provided. Everyone was very friendly (sales rep, installation crew, etc.). Only downside was that I did not realize that I needed to schedule the county to complete an in house inspection. With my work schedule, this has been very difficult. It would be good to schedule the county to inspect while their team is wrapping up. I give a C on responsiveness as I received a follow up call to provide feedback. I returned the message 3 times having to leave voicemails myself, but no one, even to this date, has ever returned my calls. However, the system is working well.
Description of Work: Replace existing gas furnace with LP backup heat pump. Add-ons for unit: humidifier & UV light.

ARS Rescue Rooter arrived promptly for both the evaluation and work, and both times on Saturdays, as we work M-F. After careful evaluation, including measurements inside and out, Brad gave a thorough written evaluation, which correlated perfectly with all our online research re. attic insulation. He offered both military and Angie's list discounts, too. His crew arrived on time, were meticulous in keeping the house clean, and accomplished all the work in just over three hours, as promised. Before leaving, they showed us the work that was done, explained the attic fan function and warranty, and reminded us that homeowners can apply for gas/electric company rebates on home insulation. The house is much warmer, all the drafts have stopped, and the heat runs less often, thanks to ARS Rescue Rooter.
Description of Work: Evaluated attic insulation needs; air sealed attic, sealed attic vent ducts, installed an attic fan, added 10 inches of additional fiberglass insulation for a total of R-49, installed an attic ladder hatch cover.

It was a pleasure dealing with this team. They were professional and timely during the competitive bid process. I was extremely pleased dealing with both Tim and Donny. ARS ended up being in my final 2 out of 4 companies in my selection process. While the winning bid ended up not being ARS, I would heartily recommend this team!

Gave me a hard time about completing a form for a rebate sponsored by Dominion Power. Even though all services required had been performed, the technician's supervisor insisted that I must schedule and pay for an additional visit. I refused and submitted the form - got my rebate, too. As a customer for 35 years, I felt the hassle was uncalled for.

ARC is very difficult. Our system had actually died the last time we were here and they did not bother to go back look at the system. We were working on emergency heat for a long time and our bill just went up. He was more concerned in selling us a scrubber and I paid for him to clean the cage because it was dirty and moldy. He did it by hand because he could not get the water to run. Every time they came out they were always trying to hoax something.They were 25% more than the current provider. They were more concerned in selling us something than do a maintenance. We were not happy with him. When we tried contacting them, they gave us a phone run around.

Everything seemed to be done well. They left a mess in our downstairs bathrooms from blowing out all the dirt, that they said they would clean up and never did. It is a month later, and dirt continues to be blown out of that same vent. I guess that they missed some.

The technician came and performed one complete tune-up but could not complete the second tune-up since the system was low on refrigerant. The technician stated he could recharge the system in order to perform the complete tune-up, at a cost of $300 for the first pound of refrigerant and $100 for each additional pound. My system holds approximately 4 pounds of refrigerant, so this tune-up would have cost approximately an additional $600 to complete. I declined the additional service.
Description of Work: I purchased two of the provider's Big Deals of $39 for a 20 point A/C tuneup, since I have 2 A/C systems.

It was satisfactory and I had no complaints. They got the job done in about one hour. The technician was pretty good and the scheduling was quick. They were out within a few days after I called them.

They said everything was fine. The gentleman was professional, qualified, and knew what he was doing. The came back and checked out my attic and they said that I needed an attic fan and since they came back my thermostat has been haywire and my bill has been higher. I have not been happy about this. I have never had this issue before they came and went into the attic.

It was a good. They got the job done in about 90 minutes. He was very thorough in going inside and outside of the house. I had no problems with the scheduling. The technician was a very quiet guy and went about his business.

It was very good and the price was very good. They came when they said they would. It took a little longer to get the service scheduled but it was not terrible. They got the job done in about 45-60 minutes. The technician was very professional and very pleasant.
