Over the course of just under 5 years, ACE came to our home a handful of times for routine maintenance and clean-out for our septic system. The actual work they did appeared fine -- typical poking of the field, cleaning the filter, and cleaning the tank. The guys that came out always seemed courteous. The handling of scheduling/billing/customer service was very inconsistent and lousy. We were billed twice for work not completed; including the tank clean-out in our 3rd year. They were adamant that they had showed to clean our tank but ended up finding where they had made a mistake. The time before that we were billed for the typical maintenance (poking/filter cleaning) but no one had actually come out to the home. We were certain of this since my wife and I both work from home with a dog and driveway sensor. Be cautious of their 'gas price' portion of the maintenance agreement. They stated a $35 increase each bill if gas prices reach a certain dollar amount (which the price is always above these days) and claim it is for the expensive price of diesel fuel. The typical maintenance guy shows up in a small SUV so the hike is a little steep in my opinion.

Horrible unethical

They were not very thorough. The report was not detailed. Communication was poor, they will not give you the phone number of the inspector who comes out to work on your property. They told me one time they had e-mailed me reports when they had not. Bottom line- If you like communication don't choose this company.

I telephoned the company and was able to get an appointment in the same week and I was quoted the lowest price of three companies that I had inquired with. I was given a window of time for arrival between 2 pm and 5 pm on the day of the scheduled appt. I received a call on the day of service at 12:00 advising that the driver was ahead of schedule and would be arriving approximately 1:00. I had to leave work a little earlier than planned because this was the first time that I had my septic tank pumped and I wanted to be home for the service. The driver was there when I arrived home and he was already pumping the septic. The procedure took approximately 40 min. The driver was not talkative or overly polite but not actually rude. Everything went great until he was winding up the very last hose. He had parked extremely close to a flower bed, although there was plenty of parking in my driveway to avoid the flower bed, and he had run his hoses around the flower bed. While winding up the last hose, he dragged it thru the flowerbed, crushing two of the plants and dropping sludge in the flowerbed, mulch and surrounding grass. After expressing my displeasure, he responded by saying "sorry about that." Nothing else and moved on. After he left, I called the company and spoke with a very nice woman and explained the situation. She was nice and understanding and referred my call to someone else, who called me back almost immediately. That woman was very nice and apologetic. She offered to reimburse me for the damaged flowers and assured me the driver was experienced and had been working for them a long time and that he would be spoken to about the service. She told me it was their policy that if anything was spilled during the procedure that the employee was suppose to clean it up. He did not clean up the mess or even offer to. I had to get a hose out and wash down the contaminated area. She assured me that the owner would be advised of the mishap and that I would probably get my money back in the mail. To my surprise, within a week, I received my voided check back in the mail!! Although the service call did not go as smoothly as I would have liked, and some damage occurred, the company was very professional. apologetic and made no excuses for the employees' mistake, and they followed thru with correcting the problem and actually went above and beyond in my opinion. Based on my experience and the way professional manner in which my complaint was handled, I would definitely recommend ACE Contracting for the type of service that I received.

They worked with my schedule and arrived on time. They were professional. While the water report took a little longer than expected, they sent the report directly to me.

We offered on a home in Fairfax County with well and septic. We were able to get the County health department files for the well and septic (showing a history of code issues) since Fairfax seems to do regular inspections. This was an older home so we had our suspicions already. We were also lucky to find ACE to do the inspection (they also do repairs and installations). On a 90+ degree humid VA summer day they came out and literally had to break up the asphalt driveway by hand to find the tank and distribution box (a previous owner had paved over it, big no no!), then they did a visual inspection, and then they performed a hydraulic load test with the water truck they had brought (of course they pumped it out too). They found major issues and basically said that the whole system, likely including the drainfield which was only partially functional, needed replacing, a cost of $20 - 50k depending on whether a traditional or alternative system would be required to comply with County code (since it was also too close to the well). Anyway, they saved our behinds, we would have been really on the hook without them. As such we had to walk away from the deal since it was an as is foreclosure, but well worth finding a good septic inspector!
