The roofer never actually got out of his truck. He sent an assistant up to look at the roof, and based on what he was told, had the guy lay out a line of polymer tape on the metal roof. He did not install the needed gasket, or do anything to prevent rain from running up the roof in a storm. it is a shallow roof, and needs a gasket, and most of it was still gasketed, so he could clearly see how and what needed to be done. l him I was not happy with the work, and it needed to be done correctly. "Call me later" was to make this guy charged. I called him, and asked him to refund my money, since the work was sub-par and did nothing to address the problem. He said no, and started yelling ".. you miserable SOB...." This guy is a scammer. Hopefully, you won't have to learn your lesson the hard way, as did I
Description of Work: pretended to be repairing a seam where two roofs meet. The seam needed a gasket to prevent water from going up the roof in heavy wind and rain. He actually just put tape down on the roof to make it look like a repair was done. This did nothing to address the issue.

Do not ever call or hire this company. I hired this company to replace a leaking roof over our master bedroom. Before the work was done, I stated over and over again that I wanted a pitch put into the roof so that the flat section would not hold water as it did before (the reason it began to leak into our bedroom in the first place). Matt was kind enough, professional enough and his estimate was very low. He told me he planned to install a tapered system that would set a pitch in the roof so I would not have standing water again. Sounded great to me. On the day, they arrived, ripped off the old roof, replaced some bad wood (an additional $700+) and proceeded to install the new material. I had no idea what a tapered system was so I asked if one was being installed. I got a vague, 'yeah, it's there' and they continued on. I did not see any additional pitch. I believe what happened is they forgot to order the tapered system and just wanted to get the job done. So here I am almost five years later and my roof has 2" of standing water and will begin to leak any day, I'm sure. I've had other contractors look at it this week and they tell me that the materials used were the absolute bottom of the barrel in quality. Super flimsy stuff and that it should have had a pitch set in it from the beginning. I gave Affordable Roofing a chance to review their work and make it right. Grover came out to inspect the roof. His answer was a question, "So what do you want us to do?" I'm now determining if I have a claim against them in court as the work order I signed and paid reads " INSTALL TAPERED SYSTEM." So it seems I paid for it, but never got it. This company knows how to do stuff on the cheap, but as far as customer satisfaction, and quality of work...don't even bother with them. I think this was a case where they were in over their head and took the easy way out.

The first estimate given (for the original part of the house) was given in a very timely manner. However, when we found out that we needed to replace the entire roof, it took a number of calls for the roofer to go out and give me an estimate. He brought me the estimate, I got the okay on it from my client and told him to go ahead and do the job. That was on 6/4/13. He was also told when the closing was to happen (6/28/13). It took from 6/4 to 6/25 to have them do the roof. I had to call numerous times to the roofer to find out when they were going to do this roof. I kept being told that it was going to be done the next day. When I called on 6/20 to find out when the roof was going to be done, I was told that they had issues with the weather and rain (understandable) and that they were going to do it on that Friday and Saturday (6/21 and 6/22). On 6/24 I went to the house and noticed that the roof had still not been replaced. I called the roofer again and he said they would start on it that next day. They did go out on 6/25 and replace the roof and finished on 6/26. From the time they finished on 6/26 to today (2 pm on 6/27) the roofer has called me almost 10 times looking for his check. I explained that I have left a message for the owner and will get him the check. Every few hours I get a nasty call from the roofer wanting to know where his check is. Additionally, there were extra charges, which they called me about and I got a verbal authorization from the owner, however, this was never put in writing. The roofer is now gotten extremely nasty about where his check is 1 1/2 days after the completion of the job (which took them almost 3 weeks to complete and with my having to call him every week to see where they stand with doing the roof). I find this company to be very unprofessional and if their money is so tight that they have to call clients every couple of hours, then I will go to other roofers for future business.
Description of Work: I am a Realtor and based on the inspection on one of my listings, I contacted Affordable Roofing to give me an estimate on replacing the roof. Originally we were only going to replace the roof on the original part of the house, but then found out it needed the entire roof replaced.

gutter repair, roofing

Following hurricane damage in early September we contracted Affordable to repair the front gutter and reshingle the roof. We originally signed off on their quote in late September. After waiting a few weeks and not hearing back (we were told it would take 2 weeks from signature of contract), we called and were told they never received our signed contract. So we signed another and sent that again in early-November. The 2 week clock started again. However, two weeks passed and there was no sign of them. We contacted them at the start of week 3 and were told there was a delay because of rain, that they needed good weather forecast for 3 straight days, and there were a lot of homes they were working on at the same time, but not to worry because we were next on the list. However, the rain was spotty and there were actually stretches of several days when the weather was beautiful. Nonetheless that week a crew came out and replaced the front gutter. We had no idea they were coming or that they'd been there to do the work other than the obvious that the gutter was now back on the house. I thought it was odd they didn't leave a note or statement, but figured that just meant they'd be out the next day to do the roof. We were on track and the job would get done. One big problem, however, was they never replaced the broken wood behind the gutter. They simply nailed it up (a couple inches lower) to the solid piece of wood that remained. Again I figured they'd get to that when they replaced the roofing shingles. The rest of that week passed and they did not come back. We called them to find out what was going on, but no one returned our calls. They eventually called us the middle of the 4th week and told us 'good news' that we were next and the roofing job would either be done that week or the week after at the latest. They also asked for the rest of their money. We told them no. Not until the job was finished. That week ended and they didn't show. It was now early December and I was about to leave town for Christmas vacation. I called them back and had a conversation with their answering service who doesn't even say 'hello' or what they company's name is. She just picks up and waits for you to say something. I politely told her I wasn't calling to yell at her, but needed to speak with her employer. She gave me their cell numbers, which I called and delivered an ultimatum. I told them to do the job before the end of the week or refund out materials down payment. The contractor became quite angry and made it sound like I was asking too much of his company. I told him I was sorry that they were so busy and there was some rainy days, but it had been over 2 months since we first contracted with them, that we'd paid for the materials and it wasn't my problem they didn't have the manpower to get the job done. If they couldn't meet their contractual obligations they should refund the money and we'll find someone who can. I hung up and half hour later the owner called to tell me a crew would be there the next day. There was no apology or anything. The next day the crew shows up and commenced tearing the old roofing off. By the time I arrived home from work they were finishing up. So a job I was told would take 3 days and was the reason they needed a long stretch of good weather only took one. Imagine that. They'd lied. Sounds like a pattern. The one thing the contractor did arrive on time for was to collect his final pay. I gave him the check for the roofing job that was finished, but pointed out that the wood wasn't replaced behind the gutter. He told me they'd call to schedule something later that week. I figured he could save some face by actually making this part of the job right, but as was now par for the course no one ever called and nobody ever came to replace the wood. Unfortunately, the wording for the gutter contract was such that the replacement wood was 'as needed', so I don't think I could withold any of the payment because they could just argue it wasn't needed. Not that it mattered because there was no way I'd contract them to come out and fix it and pay them any more money. Everyday I come home and look at my new roof I see some crooked shingles and some with bulges. It's not awful, and I guess I'm getting what I paid for (one of the lowest quotes we got). I just pray the thing doesn't leak. The saddest part about this whole thing is that these guys were recommended to us by a friend.
Description of Work: Hurricane damaged the gutter and roof. Affordable was contracted to replace the gutter, fix the broken wood the gutter nailed into, and replace the entire roofing shingles as many of the old ones had blown away and couldn't be color matched.

I had them out here and they said they would get back to me the next day and they would follow up with a letter. I could tell you right now he never called I called him the next day I haven't got it done and from then I never heard from him ever ever ever ever again. He didn't quote me anything and he wouldn't even talk to me hardly. He said he would be there at one time and didn't show and then I called him back and he made the appointment but he did keep the appointment and I was pleased with that and I was pleased with the fact he got up on the roof. This guy is an extremely heavy man though and I would say probably 300 to 400 or heavier extremely big fellow and if you had him on your roof that put a lot of stress on there.

We wouldn't use them again. At the time they did the work, we thought everything looked fine and okay. Then we had a leak in a room. We had somebody else come out and fix it. They said that one of the collars around one of the pipes that sticks out of your house was the wrong size collar and that caused the leak. They checked all the collars and found they were the wrong size and needed to be replaced. They said that the people who did the roof didn't do a very good job. My husband called Affordable Roofing to see if they would replace the collar at no charge and they said that they wouldn't because it was past the warranty. They were great when they did the roof and they were neat and clean, but if your roof leaks after they are done and they are not going to do it right the other parts don't really matter. I would not recommend that people use them. Their price was good and they were pretty inexpensive. They were the lowest price when we got bids but we probably should not have gone with the lowest price. The roof shouldn't leak after six years. They were punctual but average.

The crew was very professional and considerate of the property. They worked well together and did a exceptional job. They cleaned up everything! I recommend this company for your roofing needs. They know what they are doing. I got three estimates and they were the most reasonable and never suggested unnecessary work as did the other companies.
Description of Work: My roof was replaced. They put a ridge vent in and flashed my chimney that was done improperly and leaking. They removed vents I did not need any more and painted the existing vents. They repaired a gutter that was detaching, no charge. 40 feet of board had to be replaced. The estimate was only over because of this.

It did not cost me anything, but they actually saved me a great deal of money. A contractor told me that I needed a new roof and quoted me a very high price, so I called them because I used them several years ago for some minor repairs. A guy came out and from the ground he looked up and said that I don?t need a new roof and needed to get the moss cleaned off the roof. He referred me to someone that did a great job. He seemed to know what he was talking about and diagnose the problem immediately. My experience with them has been very good on both occasions.

They did pretty good work for the price. It took two days and they cleaned up behind themselves. They had to replace parts of the wood. The price was okay and I had checked out other companies. I think I had to call them twice. I think they had some back up. Once they started, the job was done very quickly. They came by each day. I wasn't disappointed with their work.
