Our chimney looks fantastic. Mr Woodward was careful and has years of experience. He was prompt and charged us by the hour. His rates were very reasonable/ He has good communication skills, and he is a good hard working man and an excellent mason.
Description of Work: We needed work on our chimney to accomodate a wood cook stove. Specifically, a hole had to be cut into the existing chimney and a thimble installed. In addition brck had to be laid from the existiing mantel to the ceiling. Mr Woodward did an excellent job. He used our brick we had left over from house construction and only charged what he paid for mortar and thimble. $15 He had 2 helpers. All were polite, carefull. He replaced a broken brick on an outside step while waiting for mortar to set with no additional charge. WOW

As a sub-contractor, Mr. Woodward worked on a time and materials basis, and I had to purchase the brick separately from Madison Wood Preservers. Although this required additional coordination on my part, I had more control of the job by being able to select from historic brick styles from several manufacturers. The finished product was a work of art with beautiful stone pointing and a wonderfully rebuilt brick top historic chimney. Mr. Woodward even power washed the stone, removing the orange clay stains caused by the old deteriorating mortar. Mr Woodward was extremely punctual, competing the job in about a week after agreeing to have him undertake the work.
Description of Work: Mr. Woodward rebuilt a combined field stone and brick (top part) chimney, and did an excellent job. The stone portion of the chimney, originally built in the 1880s had severely deteriorated mortar joints and bees had made numerous holes in the mortar. The brick top was leaning and in danger of collapse.
