Chuck arrived, and we went to the carport he had told us that due to the absence of re-bar it had settled. He was unsure if the settling would continue. For the fireplace we would have to rip up the carport and place a footer. We had told him that we wanted a report to present to the seller. The problem came when we were never presented with a report for the findings.
Description of Work: We had contacted Chuck to come out and check the structural integrity of our carport that had settled, along with the fire place that didn't have a footer on a house that we will be purchasing.

Description of Work: Chuck arrived on time and began work right-away. He gave sound advice and pointed out features neither my husband or I would have noticed. He caught some serious issues with the electric which now we can bring up to the seller to fix. He took a ton of photos and his report was detailed and easy to read

Description of Work: if not for chuck me and my wife would have been stuck with a lemon for our first home. he saved us from a disaster. the seller backed out of the contract when we came to him with chucks vry detailed and thorough inspection report. dont save a few bucks and go with the other guys(even though 320 was deffinately one of the cheeper quotes we got for an inspection) go with the guy with the experience and the Liscences. thanks again chuck

I found Engineered Inspection Services on Angie's List, Better Business Bureau, State Certification website, etc. I chose him because he had by far the most certifications of any person/company I found (Home inspector, professional engineer, Radon measurement, moisture inspector, etc). I called to schedule the appointment about two days prior to Chuck coming to inspect the house. My husband couldn't meet him until 5 pm, but Chuck arrived at 4:30 pm and started the outside portion of the inspection before it got dark. He went through the list of issues with my husband and discussed what we should require to be fixed and what was more a minor/cosmetic issue (on new construction even cosmetic stuff should be fixed). Our builder ended up fixing 99% of the items on the inspection report (including things that were Chuck's suggestion and not required by law). Chuck was kind enough to come back and verify that all of the items on the inspection report had been corrected. Chuck even pointed out a few new things on our deck that should be fixed. I would highly recommend Engineered Inspection Services (Chuck McCauley) to anyone needing an inspection. He was very thorough and I feel confident he had our best interests at heart.
Description of Work: Engineered Inspection Services LLC (Chuck McCauley) did a thorough home inspection and radon test on a new construction property for us. He told my husband everything he noticed as they went through the house together, but we also received a lengthy report within 48 hours (maybe even 24 hours). He also sent us a report on the radon test readings and discussed with us what the results meant. He was also kind enough to come back after the issues had been fixed by the builder to reinspect the house and ensure everything had been done right. He did not charge us to reinspect the house. I found EIS (inspector Chuck McCauley) through the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (nachi.com). He was the only certified home inspector within 30 miles of Lynchburg, and he had an extensive website and was a PE, so we figured he would be our best choice for a reliable home inspection. We needed a home inspection done that week on a house we were looking to put down an offer on. We didn't want to put down the offer until the home had gone through a thorough inspection. I emailed Chuck on January 24th saying I needed a home inspection on a home in Forest, VA as quickly as possible, preferably within 48 hours because of an abnormal situation with the home we were looking to purchase. Chuck answered me within several hours saying he was available more or less whenever we needed him. We called the next day from our real estate agent's office (and she knew Chuck and spoke highly of him, which was another good indicator), and at that point because of other contracts moving forward we were in a bit of a pickle. We needed an inspection done the next day! Chuck said it would be no problem, he would meet our real estate agent there at noon and then he would meet with us at the house for a walk-through after he completed the inspection about an hour later. The next day, January 26th, Chuck came out to Forest despite slick roads and poor weather. He did a very thorough inspection (he even went up to the second story roof to check the roof and windows while it was snowing!) and walked us through when we arrived. He spent almost an hour answering all of our questions, showing us specific items, and telling us how much it would cost to repair by a professional or what things we could easily fix ourselves. Also, because of his extensive experience, he was able to tell us what repairs would typically be asked that the seller fix before closing on the house or what we could use to reduce our offer of the house. He also knows a good amount about whats selling and for how much in the area (since he does a lot of the inspections) and he gave us some advice about what to offer on the house. Before he left, he told us he would email us a full report with pictures the next morning, because he had another house to look at that day. True to his word, the next morning I had a nice long report, with tons of pictures, showing not just what was in need of repair but also what was in good condition compared to houses of the same age. I highly recommend Chuck/EIS, and if anything falls through with the house I made an offer on I'll be sure to use him again for the next house. His prices are also very reasonable for what a thorough job he does.
Description of Work: Chuck gave a thorough inspection of the home we were looking to purchase and gave us a lot of useful information and advice during our walk-through. He also wrote an extensive report and emailed it to us and our real estate agent the next morning.
