It was my first time using Angie's List so when I placed the order I expected the Moving service company to contact me within 2 days of making the order and it was like 2 weeks and a half and I still hadn't received any phone call. I had to contact them several times and had to have them dig through their records to find me, so that was kind of stressful. I don't know why it happened but otherwise everything went great. I ended up spending the exact value of the deal.
Description of Work: I purchased a big deal service from Quality Services Moving to deliver boxes that I ordered because I received a deal for $100 worth of moving supplies for the price of $189 and they were able to deliver the supplies to my condo.

+ -1 moreThat went fine; they did come. A couple of the boxes were damaged, but the guy came out the next day and replaced them. They did come out a little later than the guy had promised. He came by after hours. They had messed up the order. He did show up with them. They did make good on it. Price wise it was a good deal. They were very responsive. I would use them again.

+ -1 morePrior to the move, we had difficulty reaching the people coordinating our move. We did not know the plan until the day before the pack day and received NO information on how to best prepare for the packers. We organized everything and the 4 person crew was very nice but inexperienced. I walked around, answered questions, gave specific instructions on what to write on the boxes, but that was not done. At the end of the packing, I opened the front closet and it was full. The packers literally threw coats and shoes into a wardrobe box and stuffed a few expensive jackets in an open box with boots and blankets! I did not see this being done but found out when unpacking. They did not wrap lamp shades so we have 5 damaged shades. Boxes mislabeled so we could not find essentials for days and had to buy more. For example: BOOKS/OFFICE was actual bathroom supplies. Bottom line - untrained crew with a crew boss who did not check on the others. She stayed in the kitchen and dining room and nicely packed the breakables but did check on crew. Movers the next day were very nice but they put garage/shed items in wardrobe boxes with no labels so all those boxes ended up in our guest bedroom. The movers also placed heavy items on top of furniture in the warehouse breaking a lateral file, part of a desk, lamp and scratching furniture. The move-in crew at the new house did not communicate well. Did not read the boxes and put them in wrong rooms. And, very heavy boxes, marked heavy, were placed on top. The dropped a desk drawer and broke it but that was an accident. Nice guys like the others but not properly trained. We contacted Quality Services about the boxes and demanded they send someone to relocate the heavy boxes to the shed and to correct rooms. We are unable to lift heavy boxes which is why we hired movers! It took a week to get a crew out, so we lost another week of unpacking time. The second crew was excellent and actually knew what to do. They got everything done within an hour and covered the wood floors (we asked the other crews but they did not have floor pads or cloth!). Our floors are scratched too. We have filed a claim for the broken and damaged items but if we receive compensation it will in no way take care of the time and money lost during the past 3 weeks. Lost work hours, buying duplicate items, and extreme frustration for the entire family. I am still trying to have a conversation with Andy Graves but we have not been able to talk yet. The claims person is very nice. I really wanted to give them an F but the company did OK in a few areas.
Description of Work: Packed 4 bedroom house and garage, moved to QS warehouse for 4 days and then moved to our new home. This was a local move.

+ -1 moreWe had used Quality Services Movers in 2010 when moving from a commercial townhouse in Dupont Circle, and I knew they would do a great job when we needed to move again to an even larger office downtown. We thought the estimate was thorough and very fair, and we were thrilled to see three trucks and a dozen of their guys show up on the morning of our move! Everyone at Quality Services was helpful from beginning to end. When I went to their facility on a Saturday morning to pick up some boxes, one of the warehouse guys stopped what he was doing to help me load them in my car. When we hadn?t finished disassembling furniture on the morning of the move, their team took care of it for us. The team leads were extremely organized, and the entire crew worked like a well-oiled machine. I was amazed that the move to our new 5,000 square foot office was completed in just a few hours? time. I would recommend using Quality Services?and their efficient crew?to anyone in the DC area who might be looking for a good moving company. The team was efficient, careful, and went above and beyond to make the whole experience stress-free. We were very pleased with their service.

+ -1 moreAbsolutely call Quality Service Moving! We received three bids to move. Craig Little came over with a smile on his face and confidence in getting the job bid correctly. He was spot on. His bid beat the others by a lot. Further, when the move-out crew showed up, they had a system that moved rapidly. Each person was strong, pleasant and worked well with each other. Everything was loaded except one wall mirror. (read on) The deliver came the next day on time. One crew member (the crew chief) stayed with our belonging. The other men were equally strong, pleasant and worked well with each other. They were patient with us as we determined where to place each piece and even offered to move certain items around to our liking ~~ with a smile! Our beds were put together and our lives were back on-track. When we realized one mirror was missing, I called Craig Little. After checking every possible place, Craig went back to our old house, knocked on the door and retrieved the missing mirror - and then delivered it! What a relief it was. I plan to use Quality Service Moving again when my parent relocates and I've already referred them to two other customer.

+ -1 moreMy friends reported: WOW!! No wonder QSM is the number one rated independent mover in the world. We moved from Alexandria Virginia to Austin Texas in late April, and we had to leave on a Tuesday afternoon before the truck was loaded in order to make the drive to Austin so we could close on a home Thursday morning. In addition to household goods, they also moved both of our cars. That worked out great as we put all that mileage on a rental car instead. Truck issues the morning of the move had slowed things to a crawl, and I was in a panic about leaving on time (and missing the Washington, DC traffic!). The team, led by Joe Madison, OUR HERO, Jorge, and Horacio packed our valuable art collection and our remaining household goods without our being present, so we could get on the road. We felt comfortable that we could trust them to get the job done right. As we had hoped, they were amazing! Because of some challenges encountered, QSM promised that our household goods would be delivered early in Austin. True to their word, our truck arrived almost week ahead of schedule. We were thrilled! Andy Graves, thanks so much for your help and also thanks to Ben Knowlton for handling our calls with professionalism and calm reassurance. Just what we needed! QSM rocks!

Description of Work: Service Performed: Personal Relocation Move We were very pleased with our entire move with Quality Services Moving. The crew of packers did a great job - not one single item in the boxes was broken. The loading and unloading crew headed by Jose' did a wonderful job. They took very good care of our furniture and padded the bottom of all the furniture so our wood floors would not be scratched. Jose' was even a huge help with the appliance company who was delivering a refrigerator and other appliances and removing an old "huge" Kitchen Aid refrigerator. Without his technical help our home may very well have been damaged. On top of it all our move came in under the estimate that our moving consultant, Craig, wrote up for us. + -1 morethe experience from start to finish was poor, it began with them showing up nearly an hour late. they took an incredible amount of time to do everything from loading to unloading. they were over 50% over estimate and did not bring things that had been promised such as wardrobe boxes. They ended up smashing a plasma tv and trying to use their claim process was so frustrating I eventually gave up. we had moved a few years before from 2 separate one bedroom apartments in the condo with 1 fewer mover in about half the time.

+ -1 moreI purchased a Big Deal for 2 guys and a truck for 3 hours with a set price for any additional hours required. I called to setup the appointment, and the person I spoke to wasn't familiar with the deal but setup the appointment for the date of the move. I was later called back and told someone would need to come out and do an estimate. I was surprised that an estimate was required since the deal was for a set price by hour, but I agreed to have one since they wouldn't do the move without it. The guy who came for the estimate was nice and professional. After looking at what we were moving, he recommended a truck with 3 movers, but I told him that we had been moved fairly easily by 2 guys previously. He provided estimates for the move with a 2 man crew and a 3 man crew, and we agreed to go with the 3 man crew. The way the coupon from Angie's List was applied was somewhat confusing, but the price was fair and less than we had paid for previous moves. The movers arrived on time and got right to work. They were polite and careful with our things. The move ended up taking about 5 hours from start to finish, which is about what I expected and what was included in the estimate. All of our things arrived without any issues or damage. Overall it was a good moving experience. It was confusing how the deal I bought was applied to the cost, but the final price was reasonable and less than other companies had estimated.

+ -1 moreQuality's sales person (who was good) did a great job in following up after we had decided to use another company and offered us a more competitive price and GUARANTEED us an 8am start time on our move. We had an afternoon settlement and this was a big deal for us. I genuinely liked the salesperson -- he dropped us off boxes and was very easy to work with. The problem was EVERYTHING else was substandard. The crew showed up 2+ hours late. They wasted time with boxes because "they were told" it was a full pack move even though it wasn't. While the crew was generally friendly and professional and they did a pretty good job on the move out, they were (in retrospect) horrible on the move in. I still haven't tracked down all of the parts to one of the desks I had in the basement and my treadmill. They also scratched a number of pieces of my dining room furniture. What makes matters worse, they had to send additional men to compensate for their late arrival and I had to pay for that expense. They also over charged me for the actual time that they spent on my account. All in all, I think anyone would be crazy to use this moving company in light of all of the choices in this area.

The moving crew (Jose M., Jose A., Jorge, Lazaro, Fritz, and Joel) was highly skilled. They combined expertise and strength (The men carried heavy boxes on their backs up and down many flights of stairs, never complaining and always moving efficiently) with exceptionally polite manners and good humor. They were adept planners, working together to determine the most effective way to approach the move. The company's commitment to service was demonstrated both with the crew and with the administrative team. Craig Little, our Move Consultant, was truly exceptional. HIs estimate was careful and detailed. He thoughtfully considered the kind and quality of the moving contents to determine the size of the crew we required. He explained all items in the estimate carefully and followed-up to answer all of our questions. Consistently responsive, he worked hard to ensure that our moving experience was as positive as possible. He even connected us to other service providers to help us dispose of unwanted furniture. Craig visited our home on the day of the move to be sure we were pleased with the quality of the crew. In addition, a quality control manager from the company checked in with us and with the crew, again to ensure our satisfaction and also to be certain the crew was doing the work with the expected level of skill and professionalism. Craig promised that we would be pleased with our moving experience, and his promise was kept in full. Quality Services Moving prides itself on offering its customers world class service and reasonable prices. They are a terrific moving company, and we highly recommend them.
Description of Work: We moved from a five bedroom home in Rockville to a condo in the District, and Quality Services Moving expertly handled all aspects of it. Here are the the services performed: * Estimating cost through a walk-through to accurately determine the size of the move and the size of the crew needed to handle it | The estimate was completed by Craig Little, Move Consultant. His attention to detail was impressive. I had a total of four estimates before finalizing our selection of movers, and Quality Services did the best job -- by far -- of determining our needs. Craig appropriately determined that that we would need a larger crew and two trucks to handle the volume of items we were moving and also to ensure that some of our fragile pottery and glass pieces would fit into the truck without being stacked. When Craig anticipated that the move was likely to take 8-9 hours, I requested an earlier start time so that the move could be concluded in daylight hours. He graciously accommodated our request. Craig continued to be in touch with us from the time of the estimate through the move itself. He even stopped by to ensure that things were going smoothly as we left our Rockville home. He answered questions promptly, even in the evening and or weekends, and did everything possible to help allay the stress associated with moving from a home in which we had lived for 30 years. * Providing us with recycled boxes of varied sizes for packing | This was both helpful and a cost savings. When a staff member was conducting a home visit to a nearby town in Maryland, he graciously dropped off the boxes so that we wouldn't have to travel to Lorton to pick them up at the warehouse. * Moving us out of our home in Rockville and to our condo in DC | Crew chief Jose called me at 7:15 am on the day of the move to alert me that they were on their way, to ask if we needed any additional supplies, and to estimate arrival time. We had finished about 95% of the packing by the time the crew, headed by chief Jose, arrived as scheduled at 8:15 We still had our clothes and closets to empty. Once the crew loaded the trucks -- which took an amazingly quick 3 1/2 hours -- they went to work packing our clothing into wardrobes and boxes. The entire house was loaded in about 4 hours. One of the trucks headed to a storage unit, where we had even more items, and the other came to the condo. Both ends of this move involved stairs, although the condo in DC was especially difficult. Our apartment is in an old townhouse with two flights of very steep stairs leading up to our top floor unit. The crew previewed the space and planned how best to approach bringing in the boxes and furniture safely. They never complained about the steep stairs nor stopped to rest. The crew was truly outstanding. The entire move was completed in 8 1/2 hours -- remarkable considering the number, size, and complexity of items to be moved and the considerable effort involved in moving with so many stairs.

+ -1 moreI called Quality Services Moving because my family and I have always had great exeriences with them. We have always dealt with the Richmond/Chesterfield office, and for some reason, I was referred to the Lorton office for this move. Their estimator came to the house as scheduled, did the walkthrough and emailed an estimated quote. The night before the move, the estimator sent me an email informing me that he had underestimated the quote by $500.00. He promised to "make it right". (I'm still waiting for him to "make it right"). My understanding was that my belongings would be loaded into storage containers on the truck, locked/sealed and the entire container would be off-loaded into the storage facility until it was time to deliver. When delivery day came, the truck showed up on time with a crew of four, out of which only two spoke English. As the boxes came off the truck, it became glaringly obvious that there was no order to them; i.e., boxes destined for the master bedroom came out with boxes going to the garage, or the kitchen, or the family room. One of the movers dropped the entire stack of boxes wherever the top box said it went. I found out well into the move that everything that had been loaded into the truck when I moved out of my house, had been unloaded into a storage facility, and then loaded back into the truck when it was time for delivery. My belongings had been handled/moved FOUR times; which came in very handly to the movers when it came time to point fingers, I had broken furniture, broken glass shelves out of a curio cabinet (which Quality Services wrapped/packed for the move), crushed boxes, boxes which had been opened. "Fragile" was evidently an Italian word that they simply did not understand. One of my boxes was clearly marked "Very Fragile - DO NOT PLACE ANYTHING ON TOP OF BOX".....I found this box at the bottom of a pile of other boxes. My $4000.00 king-size Tempurpedic mattress looked like a truck had run over it -- the cover had holes in it and was covered in dirt, grease and oil. To add insult to injury, the following day I received an email from the accounting department telling me that they had "forgotten" to add the storage fees to the total and wanted my approval to run the charge against the card I had used to pay for the move.. I asked them to mail me an invoice since I haven't a clue where the movers put my printer when they moved it in yesterday. Do yourself a favor.....if you decide to hire Quality Services Moving, make sure you are dealing with the Chesterfield(Richmond) office, NOT the Lorton Office.
Description of Work: I sold my home in late June and had all my household belongings moved into storage for 3 months while waiting for my new home to be ready. Then had my belongings delivered to my new house.
