I just received the rest of my Grandmas's furniture from the east coast after getting back to Vegas a couple of days ago. I was worried about having to pick a mover in a short period of time when I want back for Nana's funeral. I am happy to have picked this company because the estimate was accurate and in line. I was referred to them by may Aunts realtor. I didn't think I was going to be able to get an accurate price from anyone because so much of the stuff was in a storage unit that didn't make the contents easy to see. Craig was my sales person and he was comfortable estimating what he saw in the front and then used a standard weight/cube calculation to account for the rest of the stuff in the back. He explained an awful lot of things about the process while he was there so I knew what to expect when the crew got there. The crew was polite at the pickup. They let me sort through some of the stuff that was in the back of the unt that I didn't want so the patience was helpful. I didn't recognize any name from my aunts recommendation but it din't matter, I was happy with who they sent. It was a three an crew and when they loaded it, it took about 6 hours to get everything on the truck. Kevin was my driver, he said that he had been driving moving trucks for 17 years. He drove the stuff all the way out here and delivered on a Sunday! I didn't think was going to get a delivery on Sunday but kevin was happy to do it because he said he had other things on the truck going to San Diego. Hopefully I don't have to move anytime soon but if I do I would not helitate to use Quality Services Moving again. My Aunt was right with her referal.
Description of Work: My Grandma passed away in Fairfax VA and I was able to inherit many of her nice pieces of furniture. I Called QSM because my aunt rcomended them. They came out to the house and a storage unit to estimate the weight of the goods. after contracting with them and choosing valuation coverages and service dates etc, I had them pick up the things from both locations and drive them out to Las Vegas. I did not choose packing or unpacking because I was only moving furniture. The company was very personable and they did keep me informed about the progress of the job as I headed back to Las Vegas myself. I made sure I was very clear on the dates that I needed service because I was on a tight schedule. I checked references on this company and saw that they had great reviews on the legitimate sites like Angies List and Service Magic.

I think they were very good. We have some valuable art objects and I felt they wrapped everything well and were very careful. They made estimates as to what the move would be. We were able to tell them what we were wanting to move and what would be packed. Based off of this information the quoted estimate was acurrate to what they charged, it actually ended up being lower then quoted.
Description of Work: They packed, moved and also stored items for us. They just moved our items to a storage location. One month is included in the cost and then we pay a monthly fee for the additional time. Once we have a more permeant location, they will then ship the items then.

The moves were just perfect in every way. They were complicated because the contents of the house were going to 4 different locations. The men were aware of this and double checked with me on all items to be certain I had them marked correctly (and in many cases I didn't). The first move, to my son's apartment, had a tight time frame due to elevator reservations, etc. and they easily met the allotted time frame. The move to my house was complex because the space was so small and the weather was terrible (rain, snow, etc). I must say, I have never seen a crew move so quickly. The men were courteous, professional, willing and FAST. In many cases, I asked them to move things from room to room and they did so, very willingly. The day before the move, Andy checked in with me and changed the crew from 4 men to 5 men due to the upcoming weather forecast and this too, was most helpful. He also checked in with me several times during the week before to see if I needed help with packing, etc. I have used this company at least 7 times in the past and every time, they far exceeded all expectations. They take the stress part out of the move and I would never, ever consider using anyone else.
Description of Work: We had a two part move (at my request). Quality Moving and Storage moved my son to an apartment on October 21 and they moved my things on the following Saturday (October 29).

It was a wonderfull experience and I am glad that choose this company on the recomendation of a collegue. I will use them again if the need arrises.
Description of Work: I used this company to move and store some belongings while my house was getting an addition. I was very pleased with the service I received. Starting with the sales rep, Lauren, she was the most professional of all the company's I interviewed before the job. Quality Services Moving was able to offer the scope of service that I needed, Move out /Store/ Move in. Their quote was right in the middle of the pack. I didn't choose the lowest or the highest, I received 4 estimates. On move out day, the crew that showed up, Steve, Jose and Matt were very good at inventorying and wrapping the items but the personality that they each brought to the job was what made it most memorable. Although I was invited to come see their facility I was to busy with the remodel to ever get down there. When the house was done I called to schedule the drop off and Steve headed up the delivery with Jose but Matt had been promoted to crew leader so I had Jonathan instead. The drop off was just as good as the pick up and their quality control manager even stopped by to make sure everything was okay. I was really happy to have chosen this company. They came as a referral from my co-worker who had used them 7 years ago. I read the bad reviews on Angies list and I didn't see any similarities between those reviews and what I experienced. I will recomend them to anyone I know who is moving.

We used Quality Services Moving for our recent local move (Reston to Fairfax). Our move was scheduled to happen just 3 weeks before our wedding, which was stressful enough. After a terrible experience with a moving company a few years ago, I was very nervous...Quality Services was recommended by two separate family members who had used them within the past 24 months, also for local moves. I got several different quotes from other moving companies in the area as well. Quality Services was the only company that recommended an on-site quote- I felt a little inconvenienced at first, but our sales rep Mike did an extremely thorough evaluation of all our stuff and explained everything in detail, and didn't just give us a dollar amount for their hourly services like the other companies. He told us exactly what was expected of us (for a "self pack" move) and tips to help save time and money on moving day. Another great thing is that they provide free used boxes-- you just have to pick them up at their Lorton location. They also gave us color-coded labels and a huge amount of packing paper for free, which was so helpful. After our deposit was paid, I received a detailed email with the rest of the moving documents to sign. After sending them back, I got another email within 15 minutes that they had been received and that we were all set for our move. I made a couple other phone calls to their office (once to set up a quote, and another time to arrange to pick up boxes) and every person I spoke with was very professional. On moving day, they were scheduled to arrive between 8-10AM. I got a friendly call from Aaron, our lead mover, at 8:15AM telling me that they were en route and would arrive at 9am, which they did. The 3 movers were polite, professional, and well-dressed (not in ripped/dirty clothes like some). To be honest, we kinda slacked and didn't pack up everything completely, so they had a lot to do when they arrived- they packed the rest of our stuff carefully but quickly, and managed to move our TON of crap out of my tiny 3 bedroom condo and down 1.5 flights of stairs without a scratch on anything, and in less than 3 hours. We also have a lot of cumbersome/heavy exercise equipment, toolboxes, etc. which they moved without a problem. On arrival to our new house I had lunch and drinks waiting (ALWAYS feed your movers!) so we all took a 10 minute break and got started. Again, they moved quickly and extremely carefully- I haven't found a single scratch or ding on any of our freshly painted walls. The only casualty of our move was a single martini glass, which was a wedding gift and hadn't even been unpacked after it arrived from UPS so I think it was broken during the initial shipment from the warehouse, not during the move. Because we slacked on our end of the bargain with the pre-packing, we ended up going 2 hrs/$300 over our quoted time frame but they were WELL worth the extra money and decreased stress! They did a fantastic job for an extremely reasonable price, and were a pleasure to work with. I would HIGHLY recommend Quality Services Moving and would use them again in a heartbeat!

The estimate process was very professional and well-done. An estimator came to our apartment, went through and inventoried every room and closet, and gave an estimate of $1836.50. We got several estimates from other companies (many were cheaper), but felt comfortable with the estimator and the company's philosophy, and their reported focus on professionalism and customer service. Unfortunately, this turned out not to be our experience. The movers arrived and started packing as scheduled. Things seemed to go well, but it took longer than expected, as they were still packing in the late afternoon. They eventually arrived at our new home destination (8 miles away) and unloaded the goods. When they were done, the lead mover went over the moving costs and asked for payment. The total charge was $2544.50, and while this seemed higher than the estimate, I didn't have the estimate readily available, so I unfortunately paid the full bill. After finding the original estimate among my unpacked documents, I was quite surprised to see how different the final bill was from the original estimate ($708 difference). The next day I called to inquire about the difference, and this started over a month of back-and-forth discussions. I spoke with the estimator and he didn't understand why it took so long to pack, but after talking with the lead mover, he was told there was nothing out of the ordinary about the move. So the bottom line was they weren't sure why it took so long (and thus had to charge more hours). I expressed my displeasure at how I felt I was misled, and how the estimate process seemed to provide an inaccurate estimate of the moving costs. If I had known that the move would have cost over $2500 for a small local move, I would have chosen a different company. I felt as if they employed a "bait and switch" tactic. I asked the company to refund the difference between the estimate and the amount I was charged, or at least a significant portion of it. When the estimator couldn't help me any further, I asked to speak with the manager or owner. I left a message for him, but he never returned my call. After repeated calls, I finally talked to the estimator again, and he said they had discussed my case and could offer me $250, which wasn't near the difference between the bill and the estimate. On top of all this, as we unpacked we noticed several damaged goods (torn fabric on couch, broken leg on changing table, broken leg on night stand) In addition to feeling duped, I was also unimpressed by the responsive to my inquiries. I had to call pretty much weekly to get things addressed. Once I had accepted the $250 offer, I was told that the estimator I had been dealing with would talk to billing that day to initiate the refund. Another month went by and I received nothing. Finally my wife called and talked to the estimator, expressed our extreme displeasure, and annoyance how long it was taking to get the $250. Eventually our credit card was credited $250. In retrospect, I feel as if we were lied to and taken advantage off, and customer service was the last thing this company seemed interested in. I will never use this company in the future, and I will tell anyone who asks about our poor experience.

This company was recommended by a friend of mine and I was impressed by the salesman, Andy, who came to my townhome and was very friendly and listened to my needs. They were again very accommodating when a week before my move we learned the closing on our new home had been postponed. However, all my experience since then have been terrible. Understandably the quote we received was no longer valid since our belongings had to be put in storage for a week, but the price doubled. It also bothered me that when they moved us into our new home they could not find our bedroom furniture hardware since their packer had put it in one of our suitcases. Because of this we had 4 guys sitting around not doing anything for several hours while we searched for the hardware and the other 2 guys put together our pool table. The pool table was so crooked we had to pay an additional $250.00 to a professional who came to our house and reassembled the pool table. This had been the one concern I had when Andy and I had spoken originally. Clearly they do no have a professional pool table person. It took them much longer to put the pool table together then it took the professional. If we had known that from the start we would have found a professional to do it. Again, we had to pay for 6 guys while only 2 worked on the table. They movers themselves were nice enough and took as much care as they could. The furniture still has scratches and marks, as do some of the walls from some of the more heavy pieces, but I can accept that. After I was done unpacking I realized my favorite pizza stone was missing. Then about 2 weeks later I realized they broke my office desk. About 2 months after the move I received an email from one of their people asking me to pay an additional sum for the storage of our stuff, (somehow five grand was not enough) for the whole week that it was in storage. I am fine with that but I told him I wanted reimbursement for my missing and damaged stuff first. Since then we are still in the process of getting reimbursed. Though I did receive a phone call from a young lady asking me when I thought I might pay the storage fee. I had to tell her about the reimbursement. I am not at all impressed with this companies professionalism. I also believe they are very overpriced. With the hundreds of movers in the Northern VA area I would not recommend this one.

This was the second time we used Quality Services Moving in less than a year, and they did not disappoint. The crew was very punctual, polite and professional. They were very careful with furniture and boxes, despite the difficult circumstances getting some of the items up a narrow staircase. The crew was efficient and got the work done in less time than estimated. Quality Services came highly recommended and we have recommended Quality Services to our friends and colleagues.

UPDATE May 2013: Nearly four years after our move, Quality contacted my family to resolve a problem with a damaged bed from our move in March 2009 that we reported on Angie's List. Quality, so were learned, has come under new leadership in 2013. Quality's has a drive now intent on doing a job the right way. While I sincerely wish the damage had not happened, or that the 2009 Quality staff would have resolved our problem, I'm happy to report that the damage has been resolved. Yet, I can say that Quality did something they didn't have to do - make it right, even when they technically didn't have any liability forcing them to. Overall, I would try Quality again. They were punctual, well priced, and handled a move out of a 20x10 storage unit without me present. While they did damage an item, the new leadership demonstrated a commitment to doing a job right. No one is perfect - mistakes happen. Integrity is about doing the right thing, even when you don't have to.

I called Andy at Quality Movers the night before I was scheduled to receive delivery of a piano (a family heirloom that was sent via truck from SC). Not only did I need 2 people to move a piano into my house, I needed them to be there at a specific time. We also needed the piano moved into the downstairs of our split level home-no easy feat, considering they have to maneuver the extremely heavy piano around tight corners and down a steep set of hardwood stairs. The movers were excellent-professional, courteous and efficient. They were done in 20 minutes, without a scratch to either the piano or the hardwood floors. As a military family we move nearly every 2 years, and this one of the best moving experience I've had. I highly recommend Quality Services Moving and would not hesitate to use them again.

My initial inquiry to Mike Sipple was very informative. He provided detailed information about their services and answered all my questions. He then came out to give a detailed estimate. We were impressed with their thoroughness. We found their price to be comparable to others - not the cheapest, but not the most expensive. I have had bad moving experiences in the past, so know not to choose solely on price. Quality moving offers free used boxes. It was a bit frustrating at first because sometimes I would call and they wouldn't have boxes, but ultimately we were able to get all of the boxes we needed. When I went to pickup the boxes, the staff was helpful and very nice. On moving day, they called to let us know when they were coming and arrived when they estimated. They quickly got to work - touring the house, putting down runners, etc. They helped top off and seal boxes and brought a bunch of wardrobe boxes with them (very helpful). It started to snow shortly after they started, but it didn't slow them down much. Due to the snow, we were unable to stop at our storage unit, but the said they would do that on Monday. The unload went quickly and smoothly. As promised, they came to our storage unit on Monday and delivered the rest of our items. The estimate we received was very close to the actual cost. They have a complimentary pick up services for the boxes once unpacked, which is nice. We were very happy with our move and would highly recommend Quality Services Moving.

The crew arrived right on time. They gave me a curtosy call to let me know they were enroute. Since I had used this firm before I requested the same guys. I got all except for one .The crew knew the layout of my home and the "difficult pieces" to move. They once again took great care in protecting and manuevering all the furniture down the narrow stairwells. They even had to hoist my box spring. They made this look so easy. I had some of my neighbors watching and they were amazed) the crew protected my husbands 55" plasma TV by placing it in this customized flat pannel carrier ( I was impressed so was he ) besides a couple of scuff marks that I can easily take care of ,the move was completed w/ out a hitch. When your in the military you experience alot of moves. This has by far been the most professional company I have ever used. The crew was very polite and addressed all my concerns about certain pieces of furniture. They also gave me a pretty detailed list of inventory that went into each crate..I cant refer them enough. I just recently found out their whole Management staff are all prior military. This truly shows in their employees.

Overall, I was definitely not impressed with this company. The movers themselves were very courteous and helpful, but there were a lot of problems. For instance, after coming to the house to do an estimate, the estimator sent me two different estimates in a single email, with no explanation. They differed by several hundred dollars, and the required deposit was different. When I asked about this, the estimator blamed the mistake on her assistant, which I find unprofessional. Even if it is your assistant's fault, you don't pass the buck. Also, straightening this and other issues out took longer than it should have because of the short, error-prone typed-on-a-blackberry email messages from the estimator. When they actually completed the job, they had gotten the estimate (based on weight) wrong by 50%. Instead of being 4000 pounds, it was 6000 -- and the bill was therefore much much higher than they had estimated. I had to speak to several people before suddenly someone mentioned that, because I had an in-home estimate, there was a guarantee that the price wouldn't increase by more than 10%. This "guarantee" wasn't applied until I contested the bill, however. And even so, I had to go through the cost line-by-line, and have them explain each charge -- and that also saved me about $200 from what I had been told the new total would be. Finally, although every box was accounted for, we later discovered that several boxes of books were half empty when they arrived, and other were full to overflowing. Clearly a box or two had opened in transit, and they had hurriedly repacked it -- but didn't bother to tell us. I can't tell yet if any books are missing. On the plus side, the people actually moving the furniture were very helpful and at the end of the day our stuff made it to Boston intact except for a few plates. But overall, I would definitely have gone with another company -- including any of the ones who gave me what ended up being a much more accurate estimate, who lost out on the job because Quality Moving gave a lower and inaccurate bid.
Description of Work: Quality Moving moved our furniture from our 3-bedroom house in Washington, DC to our new place in Cambridge, MA.

Hired QSM to do a short distance move from Reston to Arlington, VA. Movers were to pack glass/dishes, prepare furniture, etc. on day 1 and move on day 2. Day 1 - Packer broke some dishes and told me to file a claim. Movers were on cell phones throughout the move. Movers did not put anything down to protect walls at all and only put floor covers down the 2nd day (they were constantly wadded up so they did little good). Movers did not disassemble/reassemble ANY furniture - I did it all. Movers also did not unwrap most of the delivered furniture as we only had a few hours to unload the truck so I ended up having to do it. Movers damaged walls in old and new residence by running into them constantly. MANY of my items were damaged or destroyed. Wardrobe boxes were crushed upon delivery. Damage to clothing by food being thrown into box. The move ended up costing over $1000 more than quoted. I believe this to be due to movers lack of experience/professionalism. (One mover put a concrete bust on a leather sofa). Our old condo was riddled with trash debris, had drink spills throughout the house, and even gum stuck to the kitchen floor (I had photos of much of this). Had several conversations with Andy, the last being around June 24th. He said he would get back to me in 2 days and did not. I contacted him again 2 weeks later and in and email to me he denies any knowledge of our previous conversations concerning the service issues. I have photos and emails to back up this claim. Also, bought movers pizza on day 1 and instead of eating/working, they took a 20 minute break and then wrapped my stuff in the paper they had put pizza on. My stuff was wrapped in grease stained papers! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!
Description of Work: Hired QSM to do short distance move (approx. 20-30 miles). They were to pack dish/glasses and I packed all other items. They also were to wrap/prep furniture for move. They were not able to disassemble the beds because they worked so slowly. At the new residence, I not only had to reassemble all beds (they were to do it and it was noted in estimate), but I also had to unwrap all of the furniture or else they would not have been able to unload the truck before the cut-off time set by the owner's association.

We have no way of verifying any of these claims because there is no (member) nor any (member), in our system. The moves we did for (member) and (member) went well.

The initial experience was great - rep who came to the house was nice, packers seemed to work diligently, and the actual movers on moving day were very hard workers. It wasn't until after the movers had left, and we had paid them in full - plus a several hundred dollar tip- that the problem happened. As we unpacked boxes, we began to notice that several of them were practically empty. Example - a TV remote control and 99 cent plastic children's ball were the only contents in a full sized moving box. Another example - a cheap, foldable, plastic suit cover that folds up small and weighs less than one pound and 3 hangers were the only items in another box of the same size. The amount we paid was FAR MORE than the estimate we had been given. There were two issues. 1. The actual move took almost twice as long as the estimate. That was largely because we had one large piece of furniture that they couldn't remove so they had to disassemble and then reassemble in the new house. I wasn't thrilled about that, but I understood it and was fine in paying for what turned out to be approximately 15 hours of labor instead of 9 hours. (Its been a few months so I'm not positive of these totals, but these are approximations.) 2. The other reason for the overcharge was that the packers went WAY overboard and charged accordingly. (See examples above.) When I brought this to the rep's attention, she initially was responsive. She went back to look at her notes that she took the day of the estimate where we discussed several things, including the fact that our move was only 2 blocks away, we had already packed most of the breakable items, etc. She said her notes indicated to packers to NOT do what they call a 'military pack', where they pack military families items as if they are shipping across the country. She said she would look into it and call me back. She didn't, but I called her and she took my call and told me that her packers were totally in the wrong - and in fact one of them had been fired because of it as it wasn't his first offense. She said she would reimburse me for part of the packing charges. That was end of August 2008. That's the last I've heard from her. I've called her several times and left voice mails asking her to return my call to discuss. Nothing. One time I got a live person on the phone who promised he would get to the bottom of it and get back to me - nothing. It's not even the refund that is at issue anymore. It is my frustration with a company like this who thinks a winning strategy is to ignore problems, place the onerous on the customer to seek solutions, and then hope customer gets frustrated and gives up. Most people don't have time to sit on hold and leave messages and nonsense to followup on something like this - myself included - but if I can educate one person about the potential pitfalls and frustrations here, then spending time submitting this review will have been worth it.
Description of Work: This company helped to pack some of our items, and moved us into our new home.

Response from Quality Services Moving
On June 12, 2009, the Sales Manager contacted the customer regarding the original unsatisfactory opinions on the customer's behalf as to how all services were performed. The Sales Manager also addressed how the customer's original complaint was handled throughout the chain of command at Quality Services Moving. The Sales Manager informed the customer that reimbursement requests must be substantiated within the claims department and approved by appropriate levels of authority. The Sales Manager informed the customer that a refund of $250.00 had been authorized by appropriate levels, and again offered this refund to the customer, along with an apology for the delay in process. This refund was not officially accepted as of 6/18/09. - Kari Osborne, Moving Consultant
