Nice Heating & Air

I could hardly be more pleased. I was able to schedule the appointment soon after making my Deal purchase (a major plus, as I cancelled the purchase of a similar deal after discovering that it would be some five weeks before that provider could visit my home), and the technician showed up as scheduled. He couldn't have been nicer. He put covers on his shoes, and carefully laid a cloth across his work area on the marble surround of the fireplace. Because we had purchased the house only following the previous year's heating season, the gas to the unit was still off. So, before doing anything else, the tech showed me how to light the pilot light and to prepare/treat the unit at the start and conclusion of each heating season. The unit maintenance itself also was accomplished superbly. The technician (I feel awful about seeming to be so impersonal, but don't have my notes with his name here at the office with me as I write this review) was incredibly friendly, helpful, polite and patient with all of my questions. He inspected the entire unit, cleaned some small metal parts that apparently get carbon-coated over time by the pilot light (and showed me how to clean them), cleaned the front glass (in the process showing me what to use and how to do the job, to include removing and replacing the glass panel correctly), and added some faux "embers" to the unit to lend a somewhat more realistic effect. In response to my query about efficiency and heat generation, he explained the issues associated with installing a blower to the existing unit, and provided me with an estimate for having that work done not long after completing the service call. Cleanup was flawless, and with an all-electronic information management system, I signed for the work on his smartphone and had a soft copy of my (prepaid) invoice via email before he even had left the house. In sum, NICE proved (at lest through this service call) to be a very responsive, reliable and courteous provider of quality service. I will certainly contact them again for service related not only to our fireplace, but with respect to any future needs we may have in connection with masonry fireplaces or indoor environmental control. While one service visit does not a lifetime of reliable performance make, this experience was thoroughly positive and I'll certainly be giving NICE a try again when future needs arise.

Company was very responsive and the technician that completed the work as timely, professional and very pleasant - answering questions and addressing my concerns without hesitation.

My furnace stopped working on Thursday night, so I called my warranty company and they tried to send a bad company, but I have a maintenance plan with NICE, so I called them. Temp was 62 when I went to bed and 52 when I woke up. Some how it kicked back on before the tech came out. The pressure switch is nearly burned out, they couldn't replace it because of the warranty company, but he wrote down the number and has it ready to replace if it breaks. They didn't charge me. Best HVAC company. Highly recommend.

George was an outstanding technician. He diagnosed the problem right away and was able to fix it with a part on his truck. The cost was reasonable and well worth it because now we are toasty warm with a working fireplace. Thank you George.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was fine. I didn't pay any additional. They showed me before and after pictures and there was a big difference. The price was in-line; it was fine. They had a weird telephone system.

Took a long time and finished later than expected. Old uninsulated house which needs improved duct work so uneven heating problem has not been solved.

The gentleman was punctual and did an excellent job and cleaned the area after completing the work. I am very pleased with the service and would use them in the future.

They were fine. They came in and did everything they said they would do in a timely manner. They came pretty quickly after I bought the Big Deal. The offer was for a tune up, cleaning, and inspection; it was very reasonable. They were professional, neat and tidy, and quick.

Called and confirmed over phone and email message, to perform the service at 10 am; as no one showed up, called around 12.30 pm to know what is happening, I was told that the scheduled time was between 2 pm and 5 pm; told them and showed them the email which they confirmed @ 10 am and seems they don't care but offered full refund. Seems like the providers who are giving coupons in angieslist has some type of quality issue and not sure how they are getting filtered; getting very skeptical about angieslist now.

Tuned up fireplace. Checked gas line and ventures. Reset log placement . Perfect job, well pleased. Tech George was outstanding .

It went great. The technician was prompt and professional. He didn't try to sell us anything else and was very friendly and professional.

Prior to today, I would have given my experience with NICE an A. The technicians that were sent to my home were helpful, knowledgeable & engaging. They easily translated "plumbing speak" into layman terms that I could understand. When they left on Friday I was feeling great about my experience. That is until a leak was discovered last night in a bathroom that I rarely use, but had recently had the toilet rebuilt. The toilets were functioning fine, but a rebuild was suggested bc of the age & wear and tear of the components. Needless to say, I'm livid to now have a leak when I didn't have one before. What seems to madden me the most is that I called today (which is a holiday). I was elated that they actually called me back within the hour. I indicated that I understand that it's a holiday & someone could come out the next day. I was told no one was available until Wednesday btwn 3-5. This is to correct something that they messed up. Two words... Not happy! UPDATED-- Management reached out immediately when they were notified about my dissatisfaction. Cherie, who I believe is the office manager, called and emailed me. She indicated that my call was improperly triaged and that it should have been treated as an emergency and gotten a same day appointment. She then made every effort to get someone out immediately. I was also glad to hear that the associate that improperly triaged my request was brought in for additional training to that something like this never happens again. Guil, the technician that assisted me, instantly knew what the issue was and worked hard to resolve it. He offered to show me what was wrong and thoroughly explained the issue and the resolution. He even gave me his contact number and told me to not hesitate to call him if I had any problems. NICE clearly cares about customer service and satisfaction and that's a relief in this day and age. I am once again a happy customer. For this reason, I'm assuming that my improper triage was a fluke and am updating my review from a C back to an A.

The service was exceptional! George, the technician was absolutely knowledgeable about all facets of maintaining my fireplace. I highly recommend using NICE. I will definitely use this company again and again.

NICE did a great job. II purchased the Big Deal Gas Log Fireplace Tune-Up, Cleaning, and Inspection. The representative George arrive on time was friendly and professional. He started straight away in taking the gas fireplace apart cleaning inside and glass, checking that every part was okay, checking for gas leaks, wiring ect. He was most informative along the way explaining everything about the fireplace on which part does what and best way to clean the glass. I highly recommend this company and will use them again in the future.

We signed up for a deal via angieslist which advertised different services offered by Nice home services. We had a simple problem with our garbage disposal and a clog/potential replacement. Turns out the issue was fixed in less then 5 minutes which was great! Very happy. The strange part was when he was done he said he wanted to check other parts of our home such as the HVAC - heater etc . I told him there was no need but he was fairly persistent. He decided he was going to check it regardless. I mentioned to him that we had the entire unit and vent, filters and everything serviced less then three months ago. As expected he came back and wanted to give me a replacement. Clearly now in sales mode it was a little awkward. Then when he was done he sat in our driveway for 15-20 minutes talking on his cell phone. Not quite sure what was going on there. We'll give them a 'B' because they fixed the problem but just be cognizant of the up selling

Chris and Troy were my service technicians and did an outstanding job. They called in advance to confirm the appt and received a courtesy call to let me know when they were on their way. I wasn't having any issues with the fireplace but wanted to have it inspected to ensure it was working properly since I hadn't used it in a while. I've always been intimated by a gas fireplace and wasn't really sure how to get the pilot connected and didn't want to chance doing something wrong. They peformed a thorough inspection of the unit and (at my request) installed a new sensor and remote control. The one I had never did work properly and was not reliable. Customer service provided by Chris and Troy was exceptional. They were knowledgeable, friendly and took extra time to show me how to properly operate the unit and answer any questions I had and I had a lot. They were very patient and took their time making sure I was comfortable with cutting off/off, relight pilot, etc. This was my first time using National Indoor Climate Experts and will definately call them again for any service I needs I have. Highly recommend them.

My gas log fireplace would blow out occasionally, so I looked for a service provider. There aren't a lot to choose from, but I found NICE Home Services and they had a $99 deal to clean and service a fireplace. I purchased the deal, but it took three weeks for someone at their company to contact me, another week to get a technician to the house. When he arrived, he was friendly, clean, and took care to explain what he was doing and why. He did a great job and was careful to clean up and put things back in order. He also told me about how the fireplace works and what the common faults are should further issues crop up. I asked him about installing a blower to provide additional heat in the house. He said it was quick and easy to do, and quoted me a flat rate of $800 to put it in. He said the components all cost about the same and they only charged an hour labor. He also claimed they don't really make any money off them. I was stunned at the cost, so I said maybe later. After he left I looked up fireplace blowers on the internet and found there are only a few vendors out there. The costs per unit were $130-200. So much for that. I bought one and put it in myself in 30 minutes.

They showed up within 24 hours of my registering to their Angies list pre-paid deal site. Excellent job. The crew of 2 took their time to explain the work before hand and reviewed the results with me afterwards. They took 3 hours to thoroughly clean every vent all the way down to the furnace. The dryer vent was especially dirty and a fire hazard. They were clean and efficient and professional. For the money, these guys were terrific. Most reputable companies charge $200- and up, but most don't include the dryer vent in the package price, a good value.

For the air conditioner repair we had a problem with them because our home insurance company had to put in a project claim on them. This company had said they installed certain parts and it turns out that they did not install those parts. They did a botched job and just did something different instead of installing the parts they were supposed to in our air conditioner. They never followed back up with me to let me know what happened. I also had problems with them because every time they come out they try to get me to buy things. Sometimes they are reasonable things or good services that I want to hear about but most of the time they are trying to get me to buy a brand new AC and heating system. They did a good job cleaning the air ducts, but they left a huge mess. There was dust and debris all over our main floor that I did not catch when they left. Otherwise, they are very courteous and their staff is very prompt. They show up when they are supposed to for the scheduled services and are very responsive.

He came out but couldn’t install the product because it was incompatible with my fireplace. He was very knowledgeable about the product and professional. He did things to improve the working of my fireplace and I appreciated it.

They are excellent. They were on time,efficient, they fixed everything. They were seriously the best repair people or maintenance people we have ever had. They were amazing! They were efficient and communicated really well and answered all my questions.

Punctual and professional. Very helpful in teaching me what to look for and how to best use the fireplace controls. I was able to use my fireplace for Christmas with my family for the first time in years.

Scheduling was very easy. Chris arrived early for the appointment and he was neat, nice and professional. He immediately got to work, providing feedback as necessary. Although his great effort did not resolve the problem, he took the time to explain the problem with our fireplace and provided useful information and options for us to consider without any high pitched sales.Over all we are satisfied with his work. Rob called to ask how it all went and whether we have any questions. This shows that NICE takes customers' satisfaction very seriously. We will definitely consider their offers and we hope to use them again, not just for fireplace replacement, but other related home services NICE provides. Updated 1/31/14: We decided to get a second opinion regarding our fireplace problem that was not resolved by NICE technician. The original problem was that the gas log fireplace pilot light will come on but it won't stay lit. NICE technician gave us three options when he could not get it resolved; replace pilot assembly for about $600, replace the burner set, or better get a new fireplace insert for $5,450. There was no guarantee that even replacing the pilot assembly will resolve our problem. We trusted NICE technician's "professional judgement" but since we were not ready to expend $5,450 for a new insert, we decided to just cover up the fireplace to keep the draft out. We later contacted Suburban Propane to get a second opinion. Today, 1/31/14, the technician from Suburban Propane arrived. We told him the problem and he got to work and in less than 15 mins, our fireplace was up and running again! We asked what the issue was and what he did. He told us that it was the pilot that needed to be cleaned and that was all he did. We then narrated our previous experience, he was surprised. No parts or components needed replacement and the insert is still working fine. Cost of service: $129. We only wished we had gone this route before and save ourselves the $99 paid to NICE. Lesson learned.
